Sorry, I don't mean to attack anyone. But I feel very strongly and negatively about this hiatus, and maybe it's just disappointment at such a long unannounced break. I do feel that every time that I express these feelings, I have someone correcting me, "No, it's this that you mean" or "that's the wrong word." I don't like to be corrected about MY opinion, is all. I felt that was what was going on, if that was not what anyone intended, that is cool 8)

Having said that, I'm not going to pretend that everything is okay HSR wise. I just miss the site so bad. I wish that they had told us about a long gap. I'm gonna feel animosity toward their new project that will take a while to die down, no matter how amazing the new one is. I understand that they are probably getting some serious bank for the new project, but ignoring the path you got there, in my opinion, is like turning your back on your family as soon as you've grown up.

I'm still a huge HSR fan - that's why it hurts so bad.

Seriously, I would really appreciate it if you'd keep your insinuations of Orwellian behaviour on the part of the admins off here. I find that highly insulting and it is completely ignorant of the situation. We allow all kinds of posts we personally disagree with (as long as they are on-topic and don't break forum rules, of course).

Sorry, what? I had no idea you were mod or admin. I thought you were some sort of flamer or troll.

I did not mean that you as an admin/mod were stifling free speech. I was saying, since I thought you were a regular user at the time, that sometimes it doesn't feel very open for discussion when every contrary opinion is met with some sort of comment. I say this because I do not write posts such as, "Why are you so complacent about the hiatus? You need to be up in arms!" I simply stated my opinion, which always seems to be followed by some comment like, "THIS is what you mean." I don't know if I make sense, but I like saying what I think, and not try to "correct" someone by saying "say this, because this is NOT true." If I have done this, beyond saying "leave people to their own opinions" then I am sorry.

That being said, I wish could be a little more calm about the situation. I am being true to my feelings. I don't think I need to be told why my words are wrong or should be changed. Use your own words! Express your own opinions. I think you [users who are calmer about the break] would make a better point simply stating your own thoughts because, in my opinion, it makes a more compelling post. I would love to be convinced that I am wrong by hearing why you are right, not by being told that I am wrong.

Maybe I am being sensitive towards opposing opinions, but I try to limit my posts to stating my thoughts, not telling other people why they are "wrong".

BTW, I liked the Forrest Gump reference.

This is a good point. When I say "owe" I mean not in the financial sense. I just thought that after 10 years, such an awesome experience should have had more than a silent goodbye, if that is what this is.

Okay. I have decided to put myself into hibernation until the next toon like in 2001: a space odyssey. It's not like I'm doing anything important. It's summer. I usually sleep in anyways. See ya!
(gets HAL to put me into the pod for hibernation)

Come on. How long does it take to write a script? And could they at least confirm it on their own website?!

That depends how long the movie is. And of course it has to be revised, edited, and... I assume it has less gone into it than a novel, but you're still not gonna have it slapped together... right?

Anyway I assume the fact that it's not related to Homestar Runner means they don't feel they should update something not related to Homestar Runner on a site about miniature golf course Homestar Runner.

Also, I think the word you're looking for, is "blaargenhaargen". Or Homestar. They both fit.

I don't care if it has nothing to do with homestar. This is sorta important. I don't get why they don't just say "Working on a script! Updates will be scarce!" Come on! WTC?! Also, I think it that they could've done something since April fools". This just makes no sense.
P.S. I will still be able to post using the power of my mind while in hibernation. I just can't move or talk at all.

If this kind of thing gets you that worked up you must not get out very much.

Seriously guys. TBC said themselves that this is not the end of Homestar. I think they just need a long, long break. Spend some time with their family and stuff. Face it, if you had to spend a whole week animating Strong Bad's head waggle you'd be pretty stressed out too.

When and where? Because if they have officially said so, then I can wait for a longer time, no problem.

Here's something to think about: I am a fan of guitarist Buckethead. (see my avatar) He is very prolific, giving/generous to his fans, and tours a lot. However, he rarely speaks. He recently had a long, long hiatus of no new music or touring. Instead of people getting selfish, thinking 'he owes us albums, he's being unprofessional', etc...we worried! And it turns out our worries were justified! We found out through a cryptic Tweet by Bootsy Collins that Buckethead was sick or injured or...something. (still no idea)

We later found out (via a cryptic Bootsy tweet again) he was on the mend and then started speculating on what he might do next. Well, just last week, he released a new limited edition 5 CD set!

Maybe something like that will happen with TBC. ;) I still have hope of a return. (Xeriously Forxe was an update, even if it was followed by another hiatus, after all) Sure, checking on Monday for an update and seeing nothing is sad, but is that 5 seconds out of my life making me irritated with them? No!

The Brothers Chaps told Wiki admins in a phone interview that Homestar isn't finished. Here is the thread. It's not an "official" announcement but it's good enough for me!

Also, we have this recording:

It's dot com wrote:
They actually do plan to release some kind of message soon. Here's a preview:

http://hrwiki.org/mirror/sorrythanks9_sbsouth.wav

I think the message means that Homestar Runner is not over so there's no reasons for fans to worry or "gossip." Notice the filename- "sorry, thanks." The Brothers Chaps are sorry for the long delay and thank everyone for hanging in with them.

This is how I see it. Posting an announcement on their website like "Long Hiatus! Check back in forever!" or "Although the series will always continue to exist online, there will be no more new cartoons!" would hurt their business, wouldn't it? Casual Homestar viewers would only be turned off by a message like that. I don't expect or really even want the Brothers Chaps to do that. It's only the "bigger" fans that want assurance, and the Brothers Chaps have given that to us. I'm glad that they have bothered to reach out to their largest dedicated fanbase, the Wiki, even if it's been in small ways-- a phone conversation we didn't get to hear or a snippet of a message for our gossipy southern butts.

Maybe Homestar Runner will be over soon, but it's not over yet.

I have a feeling a lot will give up on checking the site, then casually stroll back in one day and see a dozen new e-mails and half a dozen toons and think 'when did they come back?!' Would be nice! ;)

I have learned that, during this time of no new material, when I get bored and crave new Homestar, I can always count on that nice little "random" button to bring up something I've damn near forgotten... I love that button :) it's my new best friend.

Also, while I did jump from page 1, to page 5, and probably missed a lot in those three pages (of course). It would be worth mentioning that since the entertainment portion of this business is free that it is poor form to send the creators e-mails and other communiqué complaining about the lack of new free stuff.

The fact that they have only made one new toon in 8 months (almost 9) is incredibly depressing. The fact that they have said nothing about it really is lame. I've watched everything on there a million times now and the lack of new content and TBC not addressing the long absence is just giving me bad vibes.

If they miss the ween toon I think I'll be completely over H*R. I just don't care as much if there's nothing new to look forward to anymore.

:(

I think this is probably why Dattebayo never had a forum in their hayday, because they didn't want to see giant streams of posts complaining about the rate at which free stuff comes out.

Edited for emphasis. EMPHASIS!

Well, their customer service is definitely still in ship shape condition. Got the 6th SBemail DVD today right on time. :)

Okay, now I can live a little longer. And I'm not upset any more, now that I know that they do not intend it be over, and this is from the men themselves. Shame they couldn't have found a way to tell the little people...

I just didn't want it to end the way it did with no word.

And yes, I've hit up the random button to keep hope alive. A lot of funny stuff in there I have yet to see.

RANDOM'D!

There you are right there. In your own example, you said that the man rarely speaks. I don't feel like this is the case for TBC, as they have/had an active RSS feed, blog, and have given numerous interviews. I feel like they are quite in touch with their public. Until now.

I don't know why they didn't mention this break in some way. Why it had to get filtered down through some phone conversation is beyond me. It's not like we serious fans are gonna give up if they said, "It's not over, it's just on break for a while..." I know I wouldn't. What was disturbing was seeing nothing for months but STORE. You obviously can't hang a sign on HSR's front door saying "this is a break", because casual visitors have little interest in what goes on, so why would they care if anyone is on hiatus? I just wish there had been some earlier notice that they weren't going away. I guess Xeriouxly was supposed to be that, but I think by now it doesn't feel like a "not going away".

I feel that there should have been something said sooner. It would have avoided a lot of discussion and upset fans. I mean, I'm okay with waiting, I'm just asking why did it take so long to tell us?

To be honest, I've lost a lot of interest in H*R due to the hiatus. It's to the point that I don't really care if they come back or not anymore. I guess I've lost my love for it. And watching the old videos only makes it sadder to me.
