		+	:First of all, it was ''Homestar'' who called ''Strong Bad'' a "doge" in [[Biz Cas Fri 1]]. BCF1 is generally identified as the first use of "someone intentionally misspelling 'dog' as 'doge' to be funny" on the internet. Given the way memes spread, it's impossible to know if the people who started calling {{w\|Kabosu (dog)\|Kabosu}} a "doge" were intentionally quoting (or subconsciously remembering) that joke from Homestar Runner, or simply had the same idea of of how to misspell "dog" as a gag. To complicate things, Homestar was using "dog" as slang and not referring to a canine, and the word "{{w\|Doge (title)\|doge}}" has been used in other contexts for hundreds of years... So, I wouldn't say it's as straightforward "Dogecoin is a reference to Homestar Runner", more like "Homestar Runner is a major point in the history of calling a 'dog' a 'doge' online ." --{{User:Bleu Ninja/sig}} 16:47, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
