But the fact remains that many of these characters aren't "rejected" in the sense that they "do not appear" (as the lede puts it). Maybe we have a subhead with something like "not quite rejected characters" or "eventually-used characters" or "no longer rejected characters" (or some better word choice) to divide the table?
