It was reverted for being cramped, but I don't think it looks cramped at all; in fact I think the current look has the opposite problem, being too bulky and filled with empty space. That wouldn't be much of a problem on its own, but considering this template is used on so many pages, I assume it's intended to be convenient and unobtrusive (as opposed to the [[Halloween]] article, which is already like a larger, more complete version of the template). I also just think it's more visually pleasing when the information is more tightly packed together.
