Their appearance is modeled after The Cheat, who originally dressed as Firebert in the email army, which is considered to be the conceptual birth of the Cheat Commandos. Every Cheat Commandos toon seems to parody a different facet of 1980s animated shows, especially G.I. Joe, with reiterated plugs for action figures and breakfast cereals, and rehashing as teaching aids.
