:Same to you, Nikolce! Where I am, we have just about fifteen minutes to go until New Year's. It's almost here! Have a great 2006! {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 07:48, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey Heimstern, I was just looking around the [[:Category:Articles_needing_cleanup|list of articles that need cleaning-up]] and I noticed that [[Fourth Wall Breaks]] is on there. When you look at its [[Talk:Fourth_Wall_Breaks|talk page]], it says that it's a featured article. Just curious, but why is it a featured article if it's marked for cleanup? -[[User:The Vector Kid|TVK]] 06:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
 +
:Well, the problems that need cleanup may have developed after the article was featured, or it may simply be that we noticed problems that we didn't notice at the time of the feature. Note that we aren't quite as strict about the quality of our featured articles as Wikipedia is, also. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 18:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

:Hey, I'm doing OK. In a couple of days, I'll be driving from Oregon (where I've been spending the holidays) back to California to get back to school. It's about 800 miles, so it's a bit of a trek! Anyway, as for your question: Wow, that's hard. Just one thing? Well, I'll say that it's the interaction of [[Homestar Runner]] and [[Strong Bad]]. The way Homestar is so nice yet stupid, and how Strong Bad hates him and yet can never actually seem to hurt Homestar's feelings or anything, the way Strong Bad is so witty and yet scatterbrained... It's hard to describe, but that's pretty much it. Talk atcha later! {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 03:39, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

i already told you peoples why i edited my page is because i thought i never got a reply that mike sent and he was clearly online because i saw him edit a page. most people check their e-mail daily.  technically, you're not it's dot com, so you weren't asked to not block me, but i had a good reason this time.  on top of that, it ''is'' my page, so why should i not be able to edit it. someone get Q over here. he'll agree that thinking the email was missing somewhere in the internet is a good enough reason to post there. and it is MY page. i should be able to use it.  get Q over here. he'll agree.  we're buds. he's on my [[User:Homsarstrongbad150#cool users list|cool users list]].  y'know what?  i'm going to get Q, and i'm going to see what joeyday thinks of you. yeah, that's right.  i'm going to the top, asking the big man.  this was one edit, do you get it?  i think i never got the reply to my email, so i asked, and now i can't use my own talk page for 2 days.  so i did try not to post there.  i had a legit reason to this time.  that was a good question.

Hi Heimstern. I wanted to alert you that Strongsar recently accidently edited your welcome template, by clicking on the edit tab on his/her talk page. To prevent this from happening, please, when welcoming someone type this: <code><nowiki>{{subst:User:Heimstern Läufer/welcome|paremeters}}</nowiki></code> instead of <code><nowiki>{{User:Heimstern Läufer/welcome}}</nowiki></code>. :I know perfectly well that you've told us why you edited your talk page. Your reason was not acceptable. The fact that you are having email problems or that Michael did not reply as quickly as you thought he should have does not mean we have to let you use HRWiki as a messaging service. As for your assertion that it's '''your''' talk page, you are entirely mistaken. Your talk page does '''not''' belong to you, it belongs to the entire wiki, and therefore it's subject to all the wiki's guidelines and policies. Your use of your talkpage is a privilege, and, since you abused that privilege, it was revoked. Call for Qermaq, JoeyDay, Tom, whoever to look over my edits and admin actions as much as you want; I believe they stand on their own and that most users will completely understand. You, by contrast, have taken actions that have gotten you blocked for a week. And did you notice that '''no one''' is defending you? That should cause you to think that just maybe '''you''' might be in the wrong, and not me, Phlip, Dot com and others who've warned and taken administrative action against you. Please realize also that if you return to this behaviour after your block is over, you can expect to be blocked again for longer (possibly indefinitely). {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 06:24, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
 +
::Hate to break it to you, Homsarstrongbad150, but Heimi is 100% in the good here. You were not requested to avoid chat on your user talk if it was convenient - you were told absolutely that a consequence was awaiting further misuse of the talk, and when that happened you got that consequence. There's really no wiggle room here. Specific behavior was expected of you, and you didn't demonstrate it. Hopefully in the next days you can cool off a little and come back prepared to follow the standards, policies and guidelines we all share here in order to make it pleasant for all the users. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 07:34, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Is referring to someone "n00b" considered flaming? I've been careful to restrain myself, but I was just curious. Something tells me it's not a good idea. {{User:That Guy Over There/sig}} 04:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
 +
:I was just going down my user talk page recently and discovered that I left this question unanswered. Sorry about that, I forgot; didn't mean to ignore you or anything. Anyway, I'm not sure "n00b" is always flaming, but it's pretty much never a nice word, so I would advise against using it. "Newbie" can be a nice alternative sometimes, incidentally. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 11:13, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
 +
::I actually prefer avoiding calling attention to it altogether - just say "I know this is new for you" or "It's clear you are like me when I first edited a wiki" or something. Particularly with a 'newbie', one should avoid language that might exclude and might telegraph their possible inferiority. They probably feel like an outsider, and the goal is to make them feel like they are welcome to edit as much as any insider. The language we use should reflect that. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 13:09, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Well, I gotta admit it, Heimstern. Er, Hime-strain. Horm-stern. So, anyway, Hamster, you gave me the idea to post Latin translations on ''my'' user page. And you got my newest one! I couldn't get umlauts and please forgive me if my spelling sucks.
-
:Cool! I wondered if your Latin translations were inspired by my German ones, but I certainly didn't want to assume it. Glad to see it confirmed, though. Latin's a toughie for me since I don't know how to reduce the verbs to the form given in a dictionary (which, I assume, is why I couldn't find "pellui", since I needed to look for "pellere"). But "dubito" looked remarkably like "dubious" to me, and I could think of one quote in which Homestar refers to doubting something, so I took a stab at that. Dot com tells me he uses a similar method to unravel my German. Anyway, I hope I'll have a chance to translate your Latin again sometime. Talk atcha later. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 05:08, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

:It's not too bad, really! Viel Spaß beim Wikiing! {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 04:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

:Yes. There was a serial vandal who was known as Willy on Wheels, or WoW. He was a page move vandal whose MO was, for example, to move "Strong Bad" to "Strong Bad ON WHEELS!!!!!" He often registered user names that ended with "on wheels" also, and sometimes he impersonated sysops or other heavy users (e.g., "It's dot com ON WHEELS!" or "DorianGray ON WHEELS!") I don't know that he's been seen since before the lockdown, but he was infamous, especially before NSMC took his spot as all-time #1 vandal. Oh, and unlike NSMC, WoW is/was not a bot, if I'm not mistaken. See [[HRWiki:A History#Willy on Wheels]] for more info. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 02:19, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

:I reverted it because you shouldn't have overwritten an existing image with a completely different image, since some people may still want to use the old image. If you want to use the new image, upload it under a completely separate filename. Notice also that Bad Bad Guy is currently using that image on his userpage. :Usually when that happens, it means you hit save a couple times and thus the system registered your post twice. It's especially common if the page takes a long time to load after hitting save: you're like "what's taking so long?" and you hit save again, but actually it already got it the first time, and hitting save again causes a double post. I dunno if that's what happened here. In any case, it's no big deal, as it was easy to revert to one post. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 05:41, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

:Not sure what this is I'm reading, but to provide a brief analysis: Of course, the ending line and stage direction, being written in English, are not legitimate German. I suspect (would hope!) you already knew this. The opening line, SB's line and The Cheat's line are legitimate German, except the word "basebell", which is neither a legitmate German nor English word, so far as I'm aware. I find Homestar's line very curious. In and of itself, it doesn't make a grammatical or logical sentence, but leave out that "Hallo" at the beginning and throw in a couple umlauts and some better capitalization, and you've got the title of a duet from Mozart's [[Wikipedia:The Magic Flute|The Magic Flute]], "Bei Männern welche Liebe fühlen". How that fits the context of the rest of this work is beyond me. So, there you go. I guess the answer to your original question is "kind of". {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 07:12, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

::::Heh, if I ever tried a quote from that scene, I'd have to try to get [[User:Jay|Jay]] to figure it out. Anydangway, Coder, keep your eye out for more quotes, I do them pretty often these days. Definitely try to answer one sometime (then you could get a spot on my list under your German name: Heimstern Verschlüsslerin!) Yeah, ''klappen'' can mean "rattle", but in colloquial language it can also mean "to work" (in the sense of "to work out", never in the sense of "to labor", which is ''arbeiten''). That is of course what I meant here. Dorian: I don't really make rules about how people should use my talk page (other than "don't vandalise it"), so I don't really mind if everyone puts their answers under the same heading (that's what Dot com always used to do back when he was the only one who had ever answered one. But I also don't really mind the way it's being done now (since I archive regularly, it doesn't really matter to me if there's a bunch of short sections). So, each user can do what he/she wants when answering my questions.

::::I'm glad my translations have become popular. When I first started these, I wondered if many would care to translate them (and my wonderings were somewhat justified: for awhile, Dot com was the only one who ever answered them). :I don't know that you can translate "Leith". What is the ethnic origin of that name, anyway? That might help me know. (My name doesn't really translate either, although it is pronounced differently, of course.) Technically, I don't even know for sure how your name is pronounced (it's the "ei" I'm not sure of; is it "ee", "ay", "ie" or something else)? German doesn't have a "th" sound, so Germans might have a bit of trouble pronouncing it (my name has the same problem). As for "seventeen", it's ''siebzehn'' in German. And in case [[User:Mibluvr13|Mibluvr13]] ever wonders about the number in her name, it's ''dreizehn''. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 06:05, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

:::::From what I've seen, your definition of "fun" seems to be "posting hostile comments". In other words, trolling. Under that definition, I'll gladly suck the fun out of anything. Though before you continue to accuse me or try to get me "eliminated", I remind you that it was not I who banned you from the forum; indeed, it was done before I even saw the topic you made about me. In fact, the admin who banned you was ready to do so when you sent me that hostile PM on 31 July, about a week before your actual banning. He only didn't do so because I asked him not ban you. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 08:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

::::::Yes, I know that you didn't ban me. It's just that since I do not know who banned me. (Nor do I want to know). But the point is, my definition of "fun" is Pokemon and Mario and Kirby and random animated gifs and torturing Sims in The Sims 2 and 3. Does that make me a bad person? Plus, I only "trolled", quotes due to the fact that I believe calling someone a moron isn't trolling someone as they've said it in Homestar cartons, why not here? Like three times. {{User:Ugozima/sig}} 10:09, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

::::::::Yes, there is. From what you said, the admin who banned me wanted to do so due to the hostile PM I sent you. If I recall, the only hostile part of the PM was "Freaking Nazis". You are basically putting him down in a way that is frowned upon in most civilized conversation. Nazis were not good people, to say the very very very {goes on for ten minutes} least. To call someone that, even as a joke, is unnaceptable in my opinion. Just wanted to clear that up. This isn't up to me, but I just wanted to say what you did was wrong. I'll leave this to the people who have the happy power to ban people. L%C3%A4ufer, this is up to you. Do your worst. --[[User:Jellote|Jellote wuz here]] 12:57, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

::::::::::::I was calling him a Nazi because he was trying to make the forums a serious place of discussion where you aren't allowed to really do anything fun on the forums. Just have serious discussion. Which, works for some forums. Forums for a web cartoon it doesn't. {{User:Ugozima/sig}} 13:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
 +
:::::::::::At this point, we're not willing to unban you, sorry. I understand that people do in fact do things in anger that they later regret, such as your sending me that hostile PM, but that doesn't change the fact that people have to live with the consequences of those actions. Furthermore, it was not one offence but several that got you banned: your calling another user a moron and your hostile reply when I told you not to, the "Freaking Nazis" message and your "Go Funk yourself" thread (which, may I point out, you continued to post in after Homestone Wrecker pointed out that it was going to get you into trouble). Lose your temper once, that might be a minor thing; lose it repeatedly, that's different. The fact that you've continued to be hostile in this very thread on my talk hasn't helped your case either. In short, no, we're not unbanning you at this time. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 13:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
 +
::::::::::::That may be, but as you yourself may be presently aware of, I screwed up my grammar in the last sentence. But, as you may know, if my memory serves me right, I made the Nazi comment in the same PM. Now, most, if not all forums, would do it in this order. Calling someone a moron. Warning in a post. Insulting someone in a PM, simply asking what was wrong and why I did it. Telling someone to go Funk Themselves, a warning, and depending on the severity, a temporary banning of up to a month or so. All aside, I just want to read the freaking PMs. {{User:Ugozima/sig}} 13:55, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
 +
:::::::::::::What other forums would do is immaterial. We are bound by no forum's convention save our own, and if we're a bit less tolerant of misbehaviour than some others, that is no one's business but our own. As for the PMs, you should have thought of that before you behaved in such a way as to get banned. If you know who sent them to you, have them resend them using another mode of communication. Hey, I just got word that when my mother and sister go to France in March for a missions trip (I'll be staying home alone for a week), they'll have to stop over in Germany for a couple hours to change flights. Just thought to tell you coz Germany's your thing, and I have to tell everything to ''someone''. Just sayin'... --[[User:DorianGray|DorianGray]]

:Ugh, another one. I was ''so'' ticked when my sister got to stop for like six hours in Frankfurt on her way to Israel. And I, ''I'' who can speak the frickin' language, have never so much as set foot on European soil! (P.S.: Did you guys all know that? That I've never even been to Germany?) Anyway, cool to hear about it, even if I wish it were me. Talk atcha later! {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 22:29, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

:::Yeah, it sucks. I just don't have the money to go, especially with the exchange rate between dollars and euros being so bad these days. Actually, where I'd really like to go would be Austria or Switzerland. Austria for two cities: Vienna, to see where all those composers lived and hopefully see the Wiener Philharmoniker and/or Wiener Staatsoper, and Salzburg, to to see Mozart's birthplace. Switzerland to visit a friend in Luzern. Maybe I'll get to go there for dissertation research? I hope so. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 22:42, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

::::::Sweet, did you drive or fly? If you drove, did you take the I-5 to Vancouver? {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 00:27, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

-
:::::::Oh, I doubt it. I drove. :-) Seriously, my family and I actually took the 101 from LA county, where we lived at the time, to Port Angeles. Then we took the ferry to Victoria, where we spent a day or two. Then we drove up some highway, I'm thinking maybe the 17? Whichever one it was, it leads to a place where you can take a ferry to Vancouver. We did that, and then headed back into Washington the usual way on the 5. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 02:07, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::::::::Cool. The I-5 is about 5 minutes from my house, it's the route I always take to work. I take it then you went through the Peach Arch Boarder Crossing. If you did, you went through White Rock. And if you took the "Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal", I know exactly what you're talking about with the ferry. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 03:27, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
:::::::::Do you guys call it the I-5 in Canada, too? Even though it's signed as provincial highway 99? If so, that's interesting. I know that we did go through the Peach Arch Boarder Crossing, although I wasn't aware of its name at the time. As for the name of the ferry, I'm afraid I don't remember it. Realize that this was when I was about 10, i.e., 1991 or so. So, I don't quite remember all the details. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 03:34, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
+
-
::::::::::Oh no, we call it the 99. I was just calling it the I-5 for your sake. Plus it turns into that about 5 minutes south of here. And the "Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal" isn't the specific ferry, just the port it docks at on the mainland. It's no biggie either way. That is cool though, be content in your knowledge that you've been to White Rock. Breifly. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 03:43, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Could you please ban the user Jicem from the #hrwiki-fanstuff channel? He's been really annoying to all of us for months now and we'd just like a bit of peace. Here's a sample:
-
:::::::::::OK. As you may know, the I-5 used to be called U.S. 99 here in the USA, too, but that number was decommissioned. Here in California, we still have a long state route 99 that traces part of the old route of U.S. 99. Oh, and in California, nobody bothers to add the "I" before interstate routes: we just say "the 5" and "the 10" in Southern California or "5" and "80" in Northern California. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 04:30, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

:Ah. I was just curious to see if you might be Californian like me. Eh well. I'm always surprised by how few of us there are active on this Wiki: I'm the only one I know of. Yet there are like two active Texans, even though there are only about two thirds as many Texans as Californians, and two Pennsylvanians, even though there's only ''one'' third as many of them. Why is the most populous state in the Union so sparsely represented? Eh well, I guess I just have to represent well on my own. Or maybe there are more of us than I know, and the others just don't talk about it like I do. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 00:16, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

::What Elcool said, pretty much. It's not something for you to remove once it's been answered and even archived; instead, it needs to be the person who "owns" the archive. I don't think it should be that big an embarrassment; we all make mistakes from time to time, and most people who read it (which, as Elcool observes, is likely very few people, anyway) will likely chalk it up as a newbie error. I HAVE noticed some patterns in car movement though.  They seem to be set at the beginning of the game and dont change after that.  For instance, I will see the "drunk driver" follow the same route set at the beginning of the game.  In other words if he goes left then right....he will continue to use that path until you close the window and restart the game.

Hi I liked [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Heimstern/ArbCom this] and other essays about the great wiki.  I'm some way through a [http://www.logicmuseum.com/x/index.php?title=Wikipedia_through_the_Looking_Glass book about Wikipedia].  I would welcome any of your thoughts for one of the chapters.  It begins with the block of WorldTraveller (remember him?) and takes us through the whole problem of how you judge the quality of content by behaviour alone. [edit] Fourth Wall Breaks?

Hey Heimstern, I was just looking around the list of articles that need cleaning-up and I noticed that Fourth Wall Breaks is on there. When you look at its talk page, it says that it's a featured article. Just curious, but why is it a featured article if it's marked for cleanup? -TVK 06:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Well, the problems that need cleanup may have developed after the article was featured, or it may simply be that we noticed problems that we didn't notice at the time of the feature. Note that we aren't quite as strict about the quality of our featured articles as Wikipedia is, also. Heimstern Läufer 18:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Gotcha. I'm just used to 'kipedia I guess, but thanks for the update!

[edit] Sandbox thing

How do I at least get the CODE for my sandbox thing back after that guy got rid of it? Can you please help me? Acam30 04:46, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

You can find in this revision. Heimstern Läufer 04:47, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. I figured it out. Acam30 04:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Incidentally, Heimstern's post there points out a useful feature. Namely, you don't have to keep reverting the sandbox to any particular revision (and getting worked up in the process) in order for GreenHelmet to see it. Just use the permanent link. — It's dot com 04:52, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Complaint from Homsarstrongbad150

i already told you peoples why i edited my page is because i thought i never got a reply that mike sent and he was clearly online because i saw him edit a page. most people check their e-mail daily. technically, you're not it's dot com, so you weren't asked to not block me, but i had a good reason this time. on top of that, it is my page, so why should i not be able to edit it. someone get Q over here. he'll agree that thinking the email was missing somewhere in the internet is a good enough reason to post there. and it is MY page. i should be able to use it. get Q over here. he'll agree. we're buds. he's on my cool users list. y'know what? i'm going to get Q, and i'm going to see what joeyday thinks of you. yeah, that's right. i'm going to the top, asking the big man. this was one edit, do you get it? i think i never got the reply to my email, so i asked, and now i can't use my own talk page for 2 days. so i did try not to post there. i had a legit reason to this time. that was a good question.

"thanks a lot", says HSB150Homsarstrongbad150Homestar Runner!! 03:11, 19 October 2008 (UTC) sarcastically and angrily

I know perfectly well that you've told us why you edited your talk page. Your reason was not acceptable. The fact that you are having email problems or that Michael did not reply as quickly as you thought he should have does not mean we have to let you use HRWiki as a messaging service. As for your assertion that it's your talk page, you are entirely mistaken. Your talk page does not belong to you, it belongs to the entire wiki, and therefore it's subject to all the wiki's guidelines and policies. And did you notice that no one is defending you? That should cause you to think that just maybe you might be in the wrong, and not me, Phlip, Dot com and others who've warned and taken administrative action against you. Please realize also that if you return to this behaviour after your block is over, you can expect to be blocked again for longer (possibly indefinitely). Heimstern Läufer 06:24, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
Hate to break it to you, Homsarstrongbad150, but Heimi is 100% in the good here. [edit] Just wondering...

Is referring to someone "n00b" considered flaming? I've been careful to restrain myself, but I was just curious. Something tells me it's not a good idea. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 04:27, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

I was just going down my user talk page recently and discovered that I left this question unanswered. Sorry about that, I forgot; didn't mean to ignore you or anything. Anyway, I'm not sure "n00b" is always flaming, but it's pretty much never a nice word, so I would advise against using it. "Newbie" can be a nice alternative sometimes, incidentally. Heimstern Läufer 11:13, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I actually prefer avoiding calling attention to it altogether - just say "I know this is new for you" or "It's clear you are like me when I first edited a wiki" or something. Particularly with a 'newbie', one should avoid language that might exclude and might telegraph their possible inferiority. They probably feel like an outsider, and the goal is to make them feel like they are welcome to edit as much as any insider. The language we use should reflect that. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 13:09, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Just for clarification, I have never referred to anyone as "n00b" on the wiki. I'm a good boy. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 15:33, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Heimy vs. Heimi?

I never knew it was "Heimi" instead of "Heimy"? Weird. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 22:24, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

YES IT IS HEIMI. NO IT IS NOT HEIMY. THANK YOU. xD I prefer to call him Heimi. Acam30 04:22, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Umm, yay shouting? And the reason it's "Heimi" is that it's a German name, and therefore follows the German practice of having "i" instead of "y" (which is largely a foreign character in that language). Heimstern Läufer 04:35, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] German Contest

Are you going to be doing another German Contest, I can speak quite a bit of German, for example:

Hallo!

I couldn't get umlauts and please forgive me if my spelling sucks.

(ALJ123456 17:02, 9 December 2008 (UTC))

It's not too bad, really! Viel Spaß beim Wikiing! Heimstern Läufer 04:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hallo!

HI! Thanks for being so welcoming! I showed the translation of the names to my friend who is also taking german, and likes HR, and she wants to know if there is a transaltion for Sterrance? Thanks! -Stark Traurig

I don't think there would be, no. It seems like it's basically just a proper name that wouldn't be translatable (like Bubs). Incidentally, instead of typing out your username, you can write four tildes (like this: ~~~~) and it'll add your name and a link to your userpage. Hope that helps! Heimstern Läufer 01:29, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] What the...

Why did you revert this image? I liked the newer version a lot better. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 01:24, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

I reverted it because you shouldn't have overwritten an existing image with a completely different image, since some people may still want to use the old image. If you want to use the new image, upload it under a completely separate filename. Notice also that Bad Bad Guy is currently using that image on his userpage. By re-uploading that image, you effectively changed his userpage, which I don't think I need to tell you isn't acceptable. Heimstern Läufer 01:28, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] double post

Sorry about that, not sure how it happened. —Guard Duck talk 05:38, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Usually when that happens, it means you hit save a couple times and thus the system registered your post twice. It's especially common if the page takes a long time to load after hitting save: you're like "what's taking so long?" and you hit save again, but actually it already got it the first time, and hitting save again causes a double post. I dunno if that's what happened here. In any case, it's no big deal, as it was easy to revert to one post. Heimstern Läufer 05:41, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Hey thanks for blocking that Ren Guy. Me and MichealXX2 kept reverting his vandalism till a sysop like you came! Thanks again!-Record307 Talk/Contribs 01:47, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

No problem. This sort of thing happens sometime (like that one time in '06 when Lapper and I kept reverting an annoying vandal all night after all the sysops went to bed). Keep it up. Heimstern Läufer 02:02, 7 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thinking of yooou...

Today I saw some kid wearing a sweatshirt that said "HEMI". Like the car or whuteva. And unconciously I think my mind said "HEIMI!!!" really loud and with extra exclamation points. LOL, i felt I just had to share that. xD Acam30 03:46, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] An extremely important issue

Is this legitimate German?

I have no way to tell because I am German-illiterate but you are my German go-to guy okay - Super Sam 06:46, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Not sure what this is I'm reading, but to provide a brief analysis: Of course, the ending line and stage direction, being written in English, are not legitimate German. I suspect (would hope!) you already knew this. The opening line, SB's line and The Cheat's line are legitimate German, except the word "basebell", which is neither a legitmate German nor English word, so far as I'm aware. I find Homestar's line very curious. In and of itself, it doesn't make a grammatical or logical sentence, but leave out that "Hallo" at the beginning and throw in a couple umlauts and some better capitalization, and you've got the title of a duet from Mozart's The Magic Flute, "Bei Männern welche Liebe fühlen". How that fits the context of the rest of this work is beyond me. So, there you go. I guess the answer to your original question is "kind of". Heimstern Läufer 07:12, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sandbox deletion

When you deleted the Sandbox, you basically erased eleven thousand edits that I can't get back - I timeout before the undelete page loads. Would have been better just to edit the Sandbox to no longer be a redirect. Too late now (hopefully Dot com can fix it?), but just a heads-up for next time. --Jay (Gobble) 02:11, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

The deletion was accidental because Phlip and I attempted to revert a move at the same time: the result being that he moved it, and then I accidentally deleted it to make way for a move (an incorrect move, since it had already been made). And yes, we can't do anything about it for now, though I imagine DC should be able to. Incidentally, I've just had an idea that might be appropriate to stop this from happening again. Heimstern Läufer 02:15, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
Oooohhhhh... my apologies. I didn't read far enough into Recentchanges to fully comprehend what happened. Sorry for making it sound like you did something wrong. But, yeah, turning off moving was a good plan... shame it didn't happen sooner. --Jay (Gobble)
Never seemed necessary until this evening, did it? That's always the way; no one realizes what preventative measures they need until the thing that needs preventing occurs. No problem about misreading the situation, by the way; it was rather confusing. Heimstern Läufer 02:24, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm concerned. Are the edits salvagable? --Jellote wuz here 02:42, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] DELETION!!!!!

HOW DO I DELETE A PAGE!!!!!!!!!! I WANT TO HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Espe Pwnage

Only sysops can delete pages. Heimstern Läufer 02:53, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Man, I really wanted to help with that vandal!-Espe Pwnage
Well, if there are no sysops around, you can use {{delete|Vandalism}} to tag the page. But if there's already a sysop dealing with it, it's not necessary. Also, it's not a good idea to shout and yell when we have vandals around; seeing people react that way may actually make them want to troll even more. If a sysop's around, they'll get to cleaning it up whether you shout or not. Heimstern Läufer 03:02, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
On a related note, I do hope that you sysops have a way of deleting/surpressing the edits made tonight, since I really don't want to have those show up in the histories... ick. wbwolf (t | ed) 06:04, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I'll mention it to DC; he can do that sort of thing. Heimstern Läufer 06:05, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] uploads

Hey, first of all, thanks for the comment on my talk page. Nice to hear from some old friends. Second, due to my hiatus, I've forgotten how to upload pictures. Can you please give me a refresher course? LePorello / T / C 17:54, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

I may not be the best person to ask that question, since I don't do much with images. Assuming you're using the default skin, the upload file button should be in the toolbox on the left. If you need more help than that, you can ask and I'll get someone to answer your question. Heimstern Läufer 18:20, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
you should ask The Chort. he seems to know a lot about it whenever i upload a picture. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:25, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

Opinion noted. Heimstern Läufer 07:52, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
What is with you trying to suck the fun out of anything? I (unfortunately) requested /b/ to eliminate you. However, I don't think the post went through. Ugozima Talk to me 08:37, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
From what I've seen, your definition of "fun" seems to be "posting hostile comments". Heimstern Läufer 08:48, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I know that you didn't ban me. Ugozima Talk to me 10:09, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Is there a reason we're having this conversation? You haven't asked me to do anything, nor have you brought any substantial discussion of my actions (only a vague reference to my "sucking the fun out of" things). If there's something you want to ask me to do or an action of mine you want to intelligently discuss, please do so. If not, I can't see that there's anything more for us to talk about. Heimstern Läufer 10:44, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, there is. From what you said, the admin who banned me wanted to do so due to the hostile PM I sent you. If I recall, the only hostile part of the PM was "Freaking Nazis". Now, that may seem hostile, but as any intelligent person may say (not saying you aren't) when someone is angry, they do things they regret. Like hitting a woman or starting a fight or saying n____. Also, I have received several PMs since I was banned, and since I'm banned I can't read them. Ugozima Talk to me 10:28, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
You still haven't told me what you want me to do, if anything. Heimstern Läufer 10:40, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I just want to be unbanned to read the PMs. Ugozima Talk to me 11:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
From what I understand, you called him, or at least someone, a Naiz. If that was because he speaks German, that's actually just as, if not more offensive as the other N word. --Jellote wuz here 12:57, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I was calling him a Nazi because he was trying to make the forums a serious place of discussion where you aren't allowed to really do anything fun on the forums. Just have serious discussion. Which, works for some forums. Forums for a web cartoon it doesn't. Ugozima Talk to me 13:06, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
At this point, we're not willing to unban you, sorry. Heimstern Läufer 13:43, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
That may be, but as you yourself may be presently aware of, I screwed up my grammar in the last sentence. Ugozima Talk to me 13:55, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
What other forums would do is immaterial. If not, sorry, you're out of luck. Heimstern Läufer 14:00, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
I didn't want to do this. I have ordered /b/ to place a DoS attack on the forums. Targeted only at you. They may or may not comply with it and effect anyone. I'm sorry. Ugozima Talk to me 14:08, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
Threatening a denial of service attack goes beyond a mere dispute between us. If you threaten the whole site, you are not welcome here, so I've blocked your account indefinitely. Heimstern Läufer 14:37, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
A DoS? Heimstern, you are eligible to call the cops on this guy! He's threatened to hack you and the site! Don't let his threats go unchecked! This guy could crash the site. Could he actually do this? Can we stop him? --Jellote wuz here 15:26, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Drama on IRC - I need an adult

Could you please ban the user Jicem from the #hrwiki-fanstuff channel? He's been really annoying to all of us for months now and we'd just like a bit of peace. Here's a sample:

<Jicem> Until the Industrial Revolution, it wasn't easy to pick all that cotton and those crops

<Jicem> They needed help

He is talking about slavery. He's also been constantly ranting and raving about his extremely conservative agenda, even after we've requested him to stop. I know you don't have ops on that channel, but could you put in a word for us with the higher ups? That'd be swell. -- nachobra 19:44, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Um, NachoMan, I know I didn't look good when I started out, but if you read all the logs, you know that I was giving a reasonable opinion. Plus, no one ever told me to stop, they just flamed and threatened me. JCM 00:35, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
First, for the record, I've spoken to NachoMan on IRC about this matter, and I believe that I've done everything I can on the matter. Secondly, as a general and purely advisory remark, I'd suggest we all be more sensitive about what we say and that we all do everything we can not to be easily offended. That's about all I have now. Heimstern Läufer 01:23, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Oops!

Can you rename this. I forgot to add the [User:] in front of it. Espemon333 00:34, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Please see my comment on your talk. In this case, it's not an issue because that page isn't allowed, anyway. In the future, if you need to rename a page, you can use the "move" tab at the talk of the page. Heimstern Läufer 00:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Ok. As long as the contest stays. Get it gone, Espemon333 00:44, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Comment

That comment that you reverted was a big embarrassment for me. I don't want to show those people who read through talk page archives, and I don't want to look at it every time I look at that archive. --FangoriouslyFotoshopStar.png 01:15, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Then I suggest contacting the user who owns that talk page in private and asking him to remove it himself. And besides. How often do people read old talk page archives? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:40, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
What Elcool said, pretty much. And we've all made those. Heimstern Läufer 06:29, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Heim (~dac0358e@wikipedia/Heimstern) Quit (K-Lined)

come back Heim, we miss you already - Super Sam 03:37, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

This sort of thing happens sometimes because I'm on a public webchat. I gather some other dork-on using it starts spamming, and to stop him, they have to temporarily kill the whole thing. I'm back now. Heimstern Läufer 04:14, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Notes from Maudi

Hi, Heimstern Läufer!

A user named Druelselstein X2000 wants to "improve" those orders of Strong Bad's and The Cheat's commentaries on Main Page 15, and I don't care if that guy's doing at this situation, like messing up with Homestar Runner Wiki. But he wants to improve the orders of Strong Bad's and The Cheat's commentaries on Main Page 15. I dare not agree with that user, and I only want Main Page 15 as it is. So... look out with Druelselstein X2000, he can sometimes mess up with Homestar Runner Wiki, but I just don't care of how those orders of Strong Bad's and The Cheat's commentaries on Main Page 15 is, but it doesn't make any sense for us, especially me. So now you are with me also, Heimstern Läufer! :)

[edit] Summary

For some reason, I really liked your "no Lappy in this email" edit summary! I might like it because of "no Lappy." --FangoriouslyFotoshopStar.png 17:32, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Happy to entertain. Heimstern Läufer 00:47, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Sig Fix

It's not mine, but this guy's sig doesn't "finish", per say, and now whenever that sig is used, everything after it turns into the same color font. Could you fix it? --Essence of Ghost Water 12:31, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

Never mind, DeFender fixed it. --Essence of Ghost Water 12:34, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Yup. Incidentally, my talk probably isn't the best place for this sort of issue in the future because I'm pretty much coding-illiterate. Heimstern Läufer 12:41, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Oh. Well, since there's no way of telling who's on, you're the only sysop I knew that was online. --Essence of Ghost Water 12:47, 19 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit] 700,000 Revision WAS Removed...

this link says so. Put in a 1 instead of the last zero and you'll see this is an actual way to see any revision, so I'm not making stuff up. ColdReactive 08:51, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Assuming that diff ever existed, it wasn't removed by any admin or editorial action, so there's nothing we can do. Besides, as I think you pointed out on your talk, the 700,000th edit is kind of a trivial matter, anyway. Heimstern Läufer 08:55, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Cold Reactive - i think Heimstern already knows about that. i don't think the edit itself was removed. It appears to take two edits to move a page, and then two more to move a talk page. so 699999 and 700000 were combined into one edit, unfortunately numbered 699999, and 700000 was no longer usable. The same thing happened between edits 700011 and 700016. w/e; i'm sure HL can give you a better answer than i can. HL, anything you'd like to add/correct to that? The Knights Who Say Ni 09:01, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, no, I've nothing more to add. Your answer may be correct; I dunno. I actually have fairly limited knowledge of the inner workings of MediaWiki; I just know how to click the right buttons to keep the place running properly. The developers probably know why, but I'm disinclined to ask them over a trivial matter like this. Heimstern Läufer 09:10, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Self-blocking

How do you feel, blocking yourself after nearly five years of a clean block log? RickTommy (edits) 03:11, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Pretty much the same way I felt before. Heimstern Läufer 03:13, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, there's a question for you on the Main Page's talk page. And on a side note, are you planning on going to Germany sometime? RickTommy (edits) 00:49, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
I don't really have an answer to your question on talk:Main; I don't really remember things like why exactly I punctuated something exactly how I did, and it's not like anyone needs to know, anyway. (You may recall that it's been mentioned in the past that you ask too many "why" questions that have no answers, this is another one of those.) As for Germany, someday, I hope. Heimstern Läufer 00:57, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Spyware

Did you get some spyware on your machine? Might wanna clean that up. --Jay (Gobble) 10:47, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

I'll be sure to have a look into it. We've got top men working on it. Heimstern Läufer 13:44, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Well, I found the problem. Looks like somebody tried to cram-a-lam an egg-roll into the disk drive. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 14:04, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
Turns out it's not spyware, it's just a bug in Skype. An absurdly prevalent bug in Skype. --phlip TC 14:25, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Spammer

I need you to block this user. he edited The New Uzi-Bazooka's page. I talked to him about it and told him I'd get a sysop to block him. Can you do this for me. Thanks, Rondleman! Stuff I did.Talk. 01:53, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Wasd98 - 1. This happened six months ago, and The New Uzi-Bazooka never complained about it, so while I am in no position to make executive decisions around here, i wouldn't worry about it if I was in such a position. 1½. The New Uzi-Bazooka edited his user page three minutes later. This leads me to believe that that ip could be The New Uzi-Bazooka logged out. Though we do enforce the policy that you must log in to edit your user page. 2. for future reference, it wasn't a spam attack. 3. is there a reason you put this thread here instead of in Heimstern Läufer's current talk page?
HL - i'm not telling you what to do in #1; do whatever you feel is right for the situation. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:20, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
Actually, I have nothing to add to what Knights has said. Spot on in all respects. Heimstern Läufer 06:39, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

[edit] WhyYyYyYyYyYy you made Dorian Gary?

Why you put Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns as a subpage of Dorian Gary? It Make Nonsense Lucsar (Talk | contribs) 19:59, 6 May 2011 (left unsigned)

Please see this discussion, in which there was a solid consensus against retaining the article. Since people found it interesting, though not article-worthy, it was moved into the userspace. Heimstern Läufer 09:46, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

[edit] My subpages

[edit] Book on Wikipedia

Hi I liked this and other essays about the great wiki. I'm some way through a book about Wikipedia. I would welcome any of your thoughts for one of the chapters. It begins with the block of WorldTraveller (remember him?) and takes us through the whole problem of how you judge the quality of content by behaviour alone. 81.132.20.89 15:10, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. Thanks for the compliments! But since this isn't Wikipedia, it's not really appropriate to have this conversation here. If you want to keep talking about it, we should do so at Wikipedia. Thanks again! Heimstern Läufer 03:21, 15 October 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Quick Greetings

Haldo Heimstern! Good to know you're doing well and congratulations on the expansion of the the Läufer family! I hope the little ones are happy and healthy. :) I'm sorry to hear that you have to move but I wish you the best in your next stage in life! Cheers! --Stux 18:17, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
