== Biography ==
'''Strong Sad''' is the youngest of [[the Brothers Strong]]. He stands somewhere between [[Strong Bad]] and [[Strong Mad]] in height, and has large, elephant-like feet he calls "[[soolnds]]" (which, in the past, poachers have apparently offered thousands of dollars to obtain). His body is round and two shades of grey &mdash; a lighter grey from the waist up, a darker grey from the waist down. For some reason, however, [[Coach Z]] thinks he is yellow.{{ref|1}} Strong Sad's body makes the sound of an inflated rubber ball when hit &mdash; and according to Strong Sad, it is hit often. In [[One Two, One Two]], Strong Sad hits his belly rhythmically, as one of the selectable tracks. His head is white and has an odd lump on the top, referred to as a "disturbing soft-serve flip" by Strong Bad in [[keep cool]] (a trait shared by [[Mr. Bland]]). It is unclear whether or not he has teeth. Strong Bad claims that he does not, but Strong Sad was seen brushing his teeth in [[narrator]] and [[concert]]. He is usually very calm and soft-spoken, although he has become [[Hyperactive Strong Sad|hyperactive]] on occasion (at least once under the influence of [[Coffee|caffeine]]), and he has also temporarily (albeit ''involuntarily'') become a boisterous [[radio|radio DJ]] once or twice. The phrase "covered bridges" seems to be able to put him in some type of trance, as seen in "[[Fall Float Parade]]". He also has some sort of reaction to sunlight overexposure, causing him to become uncharacteristically happy,{{ref|2}} even if he did not enjoy it (at one point, he actually asks to be shot). Despite his pale skin, he has apparently never been sunburnt, though he became [[Somber Vacation|moonburnt]] on at least one occasion.

Once, Strong Sad's main defining characteristic was his chronic depression, which overshadowed his high levels of intelligence and creativity. He has even been quoted saying "Each day, we die a little more." several times. Lately, however he appears to have recovered and rarely expresses sadness. His many interests include listening, books, listening to books, calligraphy, safety, being alone, arts, crafts, and arts [[b/w]] crafts. He has outstanding penmanship, often writing poetry, which he then recites at his own "poetry slams". Strong Sad is seen using both his right and left hands to write and play the guitar, implying that he is [[Left Handedness|ambidextrous]]. He has been seen practicing [[Wikipedia:T'ai Chi Ch'&uuml;an|T'ai Chi]]. Strong Sad also enjoys playing [[board games]], and he seems to enjoy going to science-fiction and fantasy conventions, as seen in [[different town]] and [[TrogdorCon '97]]. He has an [[Strong Sad's iPod|iPod]], and he occasionally updates his [[Strong Sad's Lament|blog]] from time to time. Strong Sad's highly philosophical view on life has creeped out other characters more than once, most notably Strong Bad and [[Marzipan]]. Strong Sad may have a crush on Marzipan; he has occasionally lied to Marzipan just so he could spend time with her, as in [[Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 10.2]]. However, he might just be trying to make friends with anyone he can.

[[Image:StrongSad 3D variation.PNG|thumb|"Look at that voluptuous belly."]]
Strong Sad has a love-hate relationship with his brother Strong Bad. It appears that the two [[The Secrets That I Keep|got along quite well]] when they were younger, but nowadays, Strong Sad suffers almost constant [[Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship#Strong Bad Hurting Strong Sad|abuse]] from Strong Bad. In particular, Strong Bad has quite a list of [[Nicknames#Strong Sad|names]] he has used to insult Strong Sad. Strong Sad has also been the subject of numerous practical jokes by Strong Bad, Strong Mad, and [[The Cheat]], ranging from being drilled a new navel by [[Lil' Strong Bad]] to being used as a [[The Stunt Double|stunt double]] for the [[Dangeresque (film series)|Dangeresque]] movies, to even having [[what I want|wildebeest pheromones]] washed into his laundry. In turn, Strong Sad holds a very low opinion of his brother and considers him to be a clueless weirdo. However, evidence from "The Secrets That I Keep" suggests that even though Strong Sad insults Strong Bad, he also looks up to him and misses the days when they got along. He seems to retain some degree of brotherly love toward Strong Bad: when the Tandy 400 exploded in the email [[gimmicks]], Strong Sad sincerely asked Strong Bad if he were all right, and wrote a letter wishing him well while Strong Bad was [[Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon|incarcerated]]. However, he also stated that his brother's absence caused him to feel far happier with himself than usual, and that he turned Strong Bad's computer room into his tai chi space. He was also eager to help Strong Bad with his 150th email in [[Sbemail 150?!?]], and even managed to provide the background music for Strong Bad's [[Strong Bad Email Intros|email intro]] in [[alternate universe]].

Strong Sad's troubled relationship with Strong Bad seems to have affected his social interaction habits with the rest of the community of [[Free Country, USA]]. He is generally reclusive and has only a few friends &mdash; his [[Strong Sad and Homsar's Relationship |best friend]] appears to be [[Homsar]], and he plays Jenga with The Cheat on Tuesdays. Early in the site's history, [[Homestar Runner]] even counted Strong Sad as a friend, and still shows some signs of friendship towards him. He is often overlooked and ignored when he [[In Search of the Yello Dello New Version|has an idea]], and he is sometimes even [[Death#Strong Sad|believed to be dead]]. Despite all of this, he serves as a loyal officer in the [[Homestarmy]], temps at an unnamed computer company with Strong Bad and Homestar, and even has a [[Strong Sad Lookalike Contest]] held in his honor/insult each year.

Strong Sad seems to be the most rational of the characters, and often seems to react perplexedly to the others' cartoonish antics. He can often be found patiently correcting another's apparent mistakes, such as in [[TrogdorCon '97]] and [[technology]], or being [[Happy T!|entirely uncomprehending]] of the nonsensical events around him. He was even featured as the sole "[[Bear Holding a Shark]] Skeptic" in [[myths & legends]].

There may be more to him than meets the eye, however. Occasionally Strong Sad has done things that are not in line with his usually calm temperament: He [[rough copy|threw snowballs]] (saved in the freezer since he was eight) at Strong Bad, being [[Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship#Strong Sad's Revenge|physically violent]], and he had a long bout of maniacal laughter when it was revealed that he was behind the whole [[DNA Evidence]] event. Also, when he was coerced into being the security guard in Baddest of the Bands, he tasered Strong Bad whenever he annoyed him. He also states in his blog that his resolution for the new year is to not feel so bad about wanting to hit Homestar so much, which is another example of his violent self.
Judging from the "[[Wikipedia:Boys Don't Cry (album)|Boys Don't Cry]]" silhouette poster of [[Wikipedia:Robert Smith (musician)|Robert Smith]] on his wall, Strong Sad also apparently listens to [[Wikipedia:The Cure|The Cure]]. Also, some of his Halloween costumes suggests that he enjoys [[Wikipedia:Talking Heads|Talking Heads]] and [[Wikipedia:Devo|Devo]]. He is also known to listen to [[sloshy]], as seen in [[concert]] and [[Sloshy Bowl]].

==Lurking==

Strong Sad has often been identified as a lurker, or has been associated with lurking.
[[Image:Sbemail157.PNG|thumb|Deathly Pallor with "Lonely Lurker Attack"]]
*Email [[garage sale]] &mdash; [[Strong Bad]] describes "The Lurker", using Strong Sad as an example, as being "the shady night-manager at Stuckey's type, who shades around all day but never buys anything." Strong Bad also tells Strong Sad, "At least <nowiki>[</nowiki>[[Senor Cardgage]]<nowiki>]</nowiki> bought something, ''lurker''!"
== Fun Facts ==
[[Image:480px-Manicouagan-EO.JPG‎|thumb|"The lake head?"]]
* [[Matt Chapman]] has said that Strong Sad is the most difficult character to voice due to how delicate he sounds. If Matt strains his voice too much before recording, he actually can't do Strong Sad at all (which led to Mike substituting for Strong Sad's one word in [[cheat talk]]).
<!-- Please do not add a reference to the Zoloft mascot - the Zoloft bouncing head was designed well after Strong Sad's head, so this is a coincidence, not a reference. -->
* Strong Sad used to have an AOL Instant Messenger screenname of "depressio222". A fan registered the name, and after many questions as to why the Brothers Chaps had not reserved it beforehand, Strong Sad's IM changed to "depressio111117".
*Strong Sad was originally going to sound like [[Wikipedia:Michael Stipe|Michael Stipe]], but it was quickly rejected.
* In [[concert]], Strong Bad says the band [[sloshy]] appeals to "people that went to college." This may indicate that Strong Sad had a tertiary education. This seems to have been confirmed in [[independent]], in which Strong Sad claims to have "minored in holding on wide shots for too long" in film school.
* As seen in an Easter egg in [[pop-up]], Strong Sad's face has a striking resemblance to the [[Wikipedia:Manicouagan Reservoir|Manicouagan Reservoir]], a lake formed by a meteor impact in Quebec.
*Strong Sad only has three ribs according to [[Fan Costumes 07]].
*If exposed to sunlight too much, he forcibly [[Strong Sad Smiling|smiles]].
*He apparently cannot eat Twizzlers brand candy, as evidenced in [[fan club]]. He also spent two weeks at Gluten Camp in [[Weclome back]], and one exclusive [[Quote of the Week#QW-2009-03-05|Quote of the Week]] strongly suggests that he is on a gluten-restricted diet.
*Strong Sad's real name might be '''Strong Sad Raymond Jenkins''', as mentioned by [[Strong Bad]] in [[Homestar Ruiner]].
''{Short opens with pan down to the field. Cut to a close-up of the Tragic Clown Dog's face. Zoom out to a medium shot of Strong Bad's face visible in open flap of the costume, taking a drag off a white object and exhaling audibly. Coach Z, wearing the Drive-Thru Whale costume, enters screen right.}''

'''COACH Z:''' Well, hey there, fellow mascot! I didn't know you was the smokin' type?

''{cut to a close-up of Strong Bad}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{whisperingly}'' Shh! I'm not! ''{normally}'' But Bubs only gives me one of each kind of break. I've already used pee, coffee, and maternity leave today. ''{beat}'' And this is a white crayon.

''{Cut to a medium shot. Homestar Runner enters screen left, wearing the Jolly Dumple costume.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' What is up, my fellow sweat factories?

'''STRONG BAD:''' Whoa, I didn't know you were working today.

''{Close up of Homestar}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Yeah, it's freshman orientation. I'm in charge of orienting them freshly!

''{Cut to Homestar in the field with the CGNU tower visible in the back, and silhouettes of freshmen in the front. The words of Homestar's song are show at the bottom of the screen, with a ball bouncing as sings each word.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{singing}'' You're gonna have to<br>
share a bafroom<br>
with some kid from Alabama<br>

''{Close-up of Homestar}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' G! G! N! U! ''{whispering}'' And then, and then you guys all say "Me?"

''{Cut back to medium shot}''

'''FRESHMEN:''' ''{mumbling}'' No way, no way.

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Ah, that's good, that's good. ''{dancing, quietly}'' We got spirit!

''{Cut back to Homestar and Strong Bad}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' At least you get college kids! I got little snot-budded little kids messing with my costume all day!

''{Pan over to Coach Z}''

'''COACH Z:''' I used to have that prablem, too, but now I just swallow 'em up and spit 'em out in the ball bath.<!-- ? -->

''{Close-up of Coach Z}''

'''CHILD:''' Mommy! Mommy! I've gotta pee!

'''COACH Z:''' Oops! Looks like I forgot one. They'll be fine for at least a week.

''{Cut back to medium shot of all three}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Hey, where's Pom Pom, anyway?

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Oh, P-squared is not in the union. He doesn't even get a break.

'''BUBS:''' What is wrong with you? Attract more customers! ''{Cut to an inflatable gorilla with glasses behind the [[Gremlin]] with a sign that reads "Your text here!"}'' That gorilla's pulling his own.

''{Cut back to a close-up of Homestar}''
'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{sniffing}'' Man, what is that smell?

''{Cut to a shot of all three}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Uh, Homestar, we're three grown men working in mascot costumes in the dead of summer! What ''isn't'' that smell? ''{close up of Strong Bad}'' I can name about forty different odors emanating from this thing right now. There's death, rot, decay&mdash;

''{Cut to close up of Coach Z}''

'''COACH Z:''' Damp, moist, kimchi!

''{Cut to a close up of Homestar}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{an alarm goes off}'' Ah! It's time. ''{shot of all three}'' Let's do this.

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{As Homestar and Coach Z walk off}'' Ugh, not again....

''{Cut to a close-up of a speaker on a wooden pole}''

'''THE ANNOUNCER:''' That's right, ladies and gentlemen! ''{Cut to a shot of The Announcer in the booth}'' For your between-inning unjoyment, it's the Bumbling Mascot Race Around The Field!

''{Matt and Mike sing "Yakety Sax" while Coach Z, Homestar, and Strong Bad randomly move around a baseball diamond.}''

''{Cut to the inflatable gorilla with a sign that reads "The Ending Here!"}''

'''MIKE:''' Does it end different?

'''MATT:''' I dunno. Let's do it again.
*:'''TBC #1:''' Go longer.
*:''{the other Brother stops, starts, and stops again}''
*:'''TBC #1:''' No, I mean you stopped longer.

*Click on the word "Here!" at the end to see Homestar and Coach Z (as Poppy and Stoppy from [[theme park]]) have a conversation.
*:'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Man, these mascot costumes in Strong Bad's imagination are ''way'' better than the real-life ones!
*:'''COACH Z:''' Boy, I'll say! Mine's got a minibar and air conditionin'!
*:'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' My ol' Dumple costume had air conditioning. It conditioned the air to think it smelled like... dead ''{unintelligable}''
*Strong Bad [[Smoking|smokes]] a white [[crayon]].
*Strong Bad appears as the [[Tragic Clown Dog]], seen in [[part-time job]]. Coach Z appears as the [[Drive-Thru Whale]], from [[Blubb-O's Commercial]]. Homestar once more wears his [[Jolly Dumple]] costume, first seen in [[mascot]]. (The sing-along style of Homestar's song, as well as the ending, are also references to this email.) == Homestar's Homestars ==

i'm wondering, should there be a note on the Homestar "Clothing" section that Homestar calls his stars Homestars?
== blink? ==

Could someone explain why Homestar's picture blinking is considered a "goof"? To me, it is something to be noted, since it is unusual, but how do we know it was not done intentionally? Clearly, TBC used a movie clip of H*R, and it gives the picture a funny Harry Potter feel. It doesn't seem like an error. {{User:Wbwolf/sig}} 17:55, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
: If they wanted to give it a "funny Harry Potter feel", the whole picture would have moved. Meanwhile, the "Homestar" object they use is always rigged to blink, and sometimes they've been known to forget when showing Homestar in in-universe photographs. If the sheep chewing grass in the paused KoT video is a Goof, then so is this. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 18:03, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
::With that explanation, it's more make-sense. {{User:Wbwolf/sig}} 18:05, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
:::(PS. Actually, [[modeling]] would have been a better example, as the KoT's page doesn't split its facts, but yeah. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 18:07, 26 January 2009 (UTC))
::::I say it's not a goof, but a mystery. I watch Homestar flash movies with Firefox with a "pause flash" extension I use sometimes. And, bizarrely, Homestar's eyes blink ''even when the flash is paused''. --Hexagonal, an unregistered user.
:::::Yeah, it's because the loop of Homestar's Eyes blinking is a Flash movie clip, which animates continuously. (See [[Homestar Runner#Homestar's Eyes|this]] for more information) {{User:GuardDuck/sig}} 23:54, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

its just like the wiki's homestar
:If TBC do something notable by accident, it's a goof. If TBC do something notable on purpose, then it's a remark. To me, using a blinking Homestar in a photo is clearly a deliberate attempt by TBC to slip in a little humour that most of their viewers won't spot straight away (since their attention is on something else). Hence, I'd describe it as a remark, not a goof. In fact, if I was allowed to be supreme emperor of the wiki for just one day, I would move all these blinking facts to Remarks. Please explain to me how TBC are "known to forget" about leaving this Flash movie clip in inappropiate places. Considering the amount of time they spend creating each animation, they'd easily notice this blinking movie clip and could simply swap it for a static image of Homestar's eyes if so desired. Do you have any transcripts of interviews where they specifically mention their habit of making this so-called mistake? If so, fine. If not, I stand by my rant. {{User:The Chort/sig}} 18:44, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
::I see no humor in them doing it on purpose. It's a lot more believable and frankly, more likely that they forgot to swap out the animation, as it just uses the same flash object. Also, if you were supreme emperor for one day, then the day after that, there'd be a lot of reverting going on. But i digress. The point is, it's more likely unintentional, so unless we have an interview that says it's on PURPOSE, i think it should remain a goof. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 20:47, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
:::I can see where it'd be humorous. A better question, I think is, are there instances of Homestar being in static pictures where he doesn't blink? (I don't know the answer) If so, it's likely that this is a goof, but if he blinks ''every'' time he's in a picture, I think that that's evidence for it being intentional. I don't think they'd forget so often. Essentially, my question is, which happens more often: Pictures of Homestar blink, or they do not? -[[Special:Contributions/140.247.11.38|140.247.11.38]] 22:18, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

== The "lack of visible arms" mystery perhaps deepens ==

Homestar demonstrates the primary uses of the brellow crown, and when the sheets of paper appear on screen, they come from the bottom and he waves the crown around them as though they're really in front of him, rather than them just being animated in front of him "in post".

So that's four objects total, manipulated at once, which I would think notable enough to be a "Remark" if we're all in agreement that he is in fact manipulating those objects. It breaks his record of three objects (is that his record?) in [[the_show|the show]]. (For those who don't feel like checking, he holds a mic, requiring one arm, and manipulates a small deck of cards, requiring two more.)
::Well, I think that it's possible for him to use only three arms, by doing this:
::*Holding the brœllow crayon with one arm.
::*Picking up the toast drawing with another.
::*Doing the same with the sun drawing.
== Crowns ==
Homestar isn't really calling crayons "crowns," he's just pronouncing the word that way. The crown spelling is probably most accurate for the transcript, but other references should be spelled properly (crayon). That is, he says, "brellow crown," but he has a brellow crayon. This is a somewhat common pronunciation of the word in certain areas of the US. Google 'pronounce crayons crowns' (no quotes) and you'll see plenty of evidence.
:I was wondering about that myself. I know it was in a quick joke, and may not hold a lot of weight, but I think something like whether or not you're human isn't something that you casually contradict in a joke with out paying attention. == Gunkistan? ==

Why got the Facts about Gunkistan being a portmanteau and a inside reference to Gunk Iller deleted?

:It may be because they're wrong...The portmanteau is less obviously incorrect, but technically -stan and is a suffix, a word in some language (Arabic) meaning "land," which is why it's used at the end of so many countries (Afghanistan = Land of the Afghanis, Kazakhstan = Land of the Kazakhs, etc.). This would make it not a portmanteau. As for the other one, being a reference to the Gunk Iller, I see no reason why this was up there in the first place. Gunk is a very common term for any gross, ambiguous substance.

::I disagree with you on the portmanteau subject. if you look at the [[Portmanteaus]] page you'll notice "Millionzoic", "Tenthennial" and "Geographist", all words with a general suffix. Gunkistan should be there too. Maybe I was a little off by saying that it's in particular park Pakistan, but that's the only country that have the letter K to form -kistan (Gun-Kistan). I'm not readding it still so it won't start to be and edit war, but I think it should be discussed. {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 21:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Shouldn't the images for the Sketchbook and Fanstuff ''not'' have the captions with them? If not, the "Title" column is pretty much useless. --[[User:Gafaddict|Gafaddict]] 21:24, 17 Feb 2005 (MST)

It does seem redundant. It is easier to remove the "title" column, but then that text can not be found during a search. [[User:Drhaggis|<nowiki></nowiki>]]- [[User:Drhaggis|Dr Haggis]] - [[User talk: Drhaggis|Talk]] 23:14, 17 Feb 2005 (MST)
:Since the very beginning, we've always treated the text and image as one. That's how they appear, so that's how we've been reproducing them. And the additional text is for better searching. I mean, when you roll over the button on the main page, all that pops up under it is just 'Sketchbook'. We're not going to change the name of 'Quote of the Week' to just 'Weekly Quote' are we? I'll grant that commas and periods are barely distinguishable from each other in the caption font. But you can tell the difference by looking very closely. Commas have the smallest tail imaginable. Compare:

[http://www.hrwiki.org/images/e/e9/20060119_sketchbook_orbs_up_yo.PNG orbs up, yo]<br />

:Here's what bugs me. When you say, "this '''is''' a reference to..." you are stating something is fact. In this case, we all have our opinions, and each think ours are correct. The fact '''is''' that none of were there when TBC sketched this out and don't have a flippin' clue what they were refering to. Therefore, I propose the following revision:
==== Pooper Trooper Scooper Dooper Blooper ====
Sketches of [[The Poopsmith]] as a trooper, for [[disconnected]]. The caption could be a reference to the device [[Wikipedia:pooper-scooper|pooper-scoopers]], the movie [[Wikipedia:Super_Troopers|Super Troopers]], the [[wikipedia:Mario|Super Mario Brothers']] [[Wikipedia:Koopa|Koopa Troopas]], or the [[wikipedia:George_Lucas|George Lucas']] [[Wikipedia:Stormtroopers|stormtroopers]].

{{User:Invisible_Robot_Fish/sig}} 12:44, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

In general, users here seem to think "refers to" means "resembles". IRF is right; only TBC know for sure about what's a reference. Some are obvious, but I'm sure there are a lot of references we'll never get. And then there are a lot of things that resemble other things but TBC never were trying to refer to that thing. I think as a knowledge base we need to be a bit more conservative in how we decide references. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 12:50, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

''Stormtroopers'' seems the most obvious reference. Not the George Lucas kind, but rather the Hitler/Orwell kind. (Those of you who are still somewhat whippersnapperesque should be aware that the term predated ''Star Wars'' by a great many years.) Most of the other suggested references seem to be simple attempts to match up same or similar sounding words, rather than considering the actual ''context''. {{User:Bill/sig}} 17:03, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

:Storm troopers is what I was saying all along. {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 17:32, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

either way, its still spec at best, and in response to Bill, the usage of pooper cannot be ignored why else would TBC go from The Poopsmith to pooper if not trying to make a ryhme such as Super Trooper or refer to the legendary pooper scooper. {{User:Invisible_Robot_Fish/sig}} 17:48, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
:For the rhyme, perhaps. Just because the rhyme is funny. Doesn't have to be a reference to pooper or super. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 17:54, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

My two cents: Pooper Scooper and Stormtrooper are both meaningful enough to be included. "Super Trooper" and "Koopa Troopa" are both based on "Stormtrooper" and, thus, unnecessary. --{{User:Jay/sig}} 18:05, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Ahem. I would Like to add at this point that the Koopa Troopas were the second most common enemies (next to goombas) in the original Super Mario Bros., which came out BEFORE Star Wars: A New Hope. So if anything, Stormtroopers are based off of Koopa Troopas. (Very, very unlikely.) --{{User:The very strongest}} 12:35, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
== The Bendy Hop ==

It's really not a big deal, but I feel confident enough about it to post a comment on this talk page. I think that the "bendy hop" is a particular reference to the [[Wikipedia:Lindy Hop|lindy hop]], for the following reasons: (1) the titles differ only by two letters, (2) Coach Z's pose looks strongly like a typical swing/jazz dance step, of which the Lindy Hop is probably the most famous.

It was suggested that this might be more likely a reference to the [http://www.ehow.com/how_15790_bunny-hop.html bunny hop], but I question this, for the following reasons: this dance is less well-known (I base this, perhaps unjustly, on the relative size of the Wikipedia articles), and Coach Z's pose doesn't resemble the dance steps as described in the above link. (The bunny hop is a line dance involving other people and focuses on foot steps but not arm movements.) If we can rule out the bunny hop, then I don't think this fact is TTATOT, unless other candidates for "that" and "the other thing" exist.

Again, it won't break my heart if this fact is not changed back to my version, but I really do think that this is a particular reference to the lindy hop. {{User:Trey56/sig}} 01:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
:When I first saw the Sketchbook item and was preparing the screencap, I considered including the reference to a particular dance. But with the Lindy Ho, the Bunny Hop, and the classic song "At The Hop", and I'm sure others, I could not allow myself to attach the dance to any particular one of those. :All four currently work for me. Like The Paper said, they go down from time to time, but they still exist most of the time. [[User:Spell4yr|Spell4yr]] 20:09, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
==Original files?==
Does anyone have a copy of the original music swf files used by this game? They were changed a few yers ago from the originals. (which explains the mis-names)

Finally, someone addresses, or acknowledges, the old clips... (see also "Renegade Master" on main page 4). If no one has these clips, does anyone at least know what they were? I remember "Banjo" as being some sort of Earl Scruggs-type piece, like "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" or something (i.e. actually a banjo). The other filenames are "breakbeat," "money," and "drumnbass." Do those trigger any memories? --[[User:Agnamaracs|Agnamaracs]] 06:16, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

'''Spin 'n Say''' is a Homestar variation on a popular children's toy. When the cord is pulled, the arrow spins around and when it lands on the various main [[Characters|characters]], they say funny things.

Rather than being random like the real toy, the Homestar Runner Spin 'n Say goes through all of the characters in a pre-set order.

This game can be found on the [[Handheld Games Menu]].

'''COACH Z''': Say, Strong Bad, what type'a lure are you usin' dere?

'''STRONG BAD''': Well, this morning, Coach, I've been mostly using this one: Hey fish! Hey fiish! I'm gonna, I'm gonna recommend that you guys come up here in the boat. We've got a, uh, a keg! Of worms! And, uh...phytoplankton! ... Come on! Anybody who's everybody is up in here!

'''COACH Z''': I don't think that's gonna work with a stocked pond. You got any type of jig you could try on there?

'''STRONG BAD''': Oh, yeah! I got ''this'' jig! ''(starts singing and doing a little hip-swiveling dance)'' Come on and get in the boat, fish! Come on and get in the boat, fish fish! Come on and get in the boat, fish! ''{fish start leaping into the boat}'' Get in the boat!

'''COACH Z''': Oh! They got in the boat! ... Fish fish!

''{Cut back to Compy}''

'''STRONG BAD''': ''{typing}'' Actually, David, it may surprise you to hear this but, uh... I don't know anything about fishing, man. You're welcome to try the jig thing if you want. Though it might work better with the ladies. ''{stops typing}'' You know, like, {''singing''} come on and come to my house, ladies! Come on and come to my house, girls girls! ''{stops singing, resumes typing}'' Actually, ''{chuckles shyly}'' I don't really know anything about the ladies either. I mean I do! I mean—WHGT! JGTH! YES I'M AWESOME!
:'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{offscreen}'' No way! This is the pinnacle of graphics. They're never gonna get any better than this. I bet the sound's just as good, too!

== Fun Facts ==
===Trivia===
*The "Fishing Challenge '91" Easter Egg did not exist when the email originally came out. It was added months later.

===Remarks===
*This is the first Strong Bad Email that immediately cuts to another scene, instead of Strong Bad responding first.
*This is also the first time Strong Bad has ever openly admitted to knowing nothing about the ladies.
*Coach Z's eyes are a little brighter than their regular black.
*Strong Bad has a tan line while in the boat. This suggests at some time, he was wearing a shirt.

===Glitches===
*If you get the score up to 10,000 in Fishing Challenge '91, it goes back to 1,000. You still have 10,000 points—it just doesn't display the last digit.
*If you press "j" and "l" very fast in Fishing Challenge '91, the noise will become staticky and you won't be able to hear Strong Bad say anything.
*When you play the game at the end, the contrast knobs still work, except the screen turns whiter.

===Inside References===
*The sound at the beginning and end of the fishing scene is also used in [[A Jorb Well Done]] while Coach Z is dreaming.
*[[Minor Companies|Totalsoft Electronicals]] ending with ",,." is a reference to the logo on the [[Thorax Corporation]] website, which ends the same way.

===Real-World References===
*This email may be a reference to the [[Wikipedia:Bert and Ernie|Bert and Ernie]] skit called "Bert and Ernie Go Fishing." In the skit, Ernie gets fish to leap into the boat by calling, "Heeeere fishy fishy fishy!" Bert eventually tries this technique too, louder and louder. Finally, a shark jumps in and says, "You called?"
*The "Fishing Challenge '91" game resembles many early '90s PC games that featured grainy digital voice and pixelated "photo-realistic" graphics with limited frames.

== DVD Version ==
*While the Fishing Game isn't playable, you can still watch Strong Bad play it.
**There's also additional dialog. The transcript of the additional dialog (which picks up right where the Easter egg transcript above ends), is given below.
*The DVD version features hidden creators' commentary. To access it, switch your DVD player's audio language selection while watching.
'''MIKE:''' The ripples along the boat. This is, and we had to do a whole new view of Coach Z there.

'''MATT:''' It's a whole new way to experience Coach Z.

'''MIKE:''' There's very few... most things, we end up reusing, but this, we've never reused. I think I might, uh, reuse it next week.

'''MIKE:''' Next week's email, they're gonna be in a lake!
'''MATT:''' ''{weak voice}'' Okay, Mike. Look, there, it's funny.

'''MIKE:''' He's got, uh, a farmer's tan of a tank-top.

'''MATT:''' Yeah, look at those fish. Those fish are kind of funny looking. ''{imitating Jim Jarmusch}'' Why am I here? ''{pause}'' This is one of those other times, it's another recurring trend, with Strong Bad sort of tipping his hand in letting you know that he doesn't know anything about women. Uh, which I don't know why he ends up doing a lot, ''{Mike laughs in the background}'' but he kinda has to let you see his sensitive side, I guess. And then, whgt! Jgth!
