I am not from a different country if you are wondering. my username means awesome in the language I made up. That's pretty much it. Btw the naked thing WAS NOT A LIE, IT HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. When I type in all caps it means that I'm serious. I think it's hilarious when in pocky and rocky 2 you throw your helper. == Who We Are ==
The welcoming committee is a group of people who kindly greet new users and help them get started (if needed). If you want to help out, the most obvious thing you can do is post welcome messages and be friendly and helpful with new users you meet.

Note that joining the committee confers neither responsibilities nor privileges, but members are expected to do some welcoming — we don't want to simply clutter up this page with member names.

You should also have a basic technical understanding of the wiki so that you can answer any questions an inexperienced user might have.

== Standards for Welcoming ==

Users are automatically provided with helpful links and information by the bot [[User:First Time Here?|First Time Here?]], and the members of the welcoming committee are encouraged to offer a more personalized welcome and help. Be as kind and welcoming as possible and answer any questions they might have.

You might begin with a general greeting, followed by some question (to get them to actively respond and participate) regarding themselves you might have gleaned from an edit they have made. Obviously, once someone has set up a user page this is easier, but look at edit summaries or even the type of edit they have made to find a point of conversation. ("You seem pretty good with grammar. Do you take advanced language classes?") Just as you would in an in-person social environment, engage the new user in some form of interaction.

Remember, the goal of the welcoming process is to guide the new user toward active positive participation in the wiki. Suggest projects which might be a good fit for the new user. Point out pages which need cleanup, and any other areas of the wiki you think the new user might be interested in. Channel their initial interest into quality participation.
