Speaking backwards
It's cute and all to write Strong Bad's backwards speech reversed letter for letter in the transcript, but it doesn't really do any good. Anyone actually reading the transcript would probably be confused and have to figure it out, which is not something we should aim for. On top of that, it's not accurate just to write the letters backwards, because you wouldn't actually pronounce the phrase that way. When watching the toon, the impression you get as you hear Strong Bad speak is, "hmm, he's speaking backwards", but you can't tell what he's saying unless you edit the sound later. Thus, "{speaking backwards}" should be sufficient to get the point across. The sound effect of Keyboard Strong Bad tapping Strong Bad on the shoulder is from the same Casio VL-Tone keyboard that the demo music is from. It doesn't make a lot of sense for him to make fun by saying "la-la-la-la-la." (Not that sense ever needs to be made.)--Antisexy 05:10, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
::::Okay, first of all, it doesn't sound like retirement. Retirement has a "la" sound whereas this has a "luh" sound. And the last time I checked, there weren't three ls in "hello". I don't think any way to make fun of it is more obvious than any other. &mdash; It's dot com 05:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
:::::It doesn't sound EXACTLY like in retirement, but close enough to make people say "Hey! That was like what he did in retirement!" And like Catgirl said, usually Strong Bad makes fun of spelling by pronouncing it as written. It would seem he had something else in mind here, and retirement is the only thing I can think of.--Antisexy 05:20, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
::::::What do you mean, exactly as written? That's what he does do here. He pronounces extra l's and a really long o, just like it was sent to him. &mdash; It's dot com 05:29, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
:::::::Well it's hard to explain by typing, but normally when you see "LLL" you say "LLL" (the normal L sound in hello, just held out three times as long). It would have had to been spelled "Helalalaloooo" for him to pronounce as written the way he did.--Antisexy 05:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
::::::::I think you're being overly literal there. TBC probably saw the extra letters and just took it in a bit of a different direction, as they often do. &mdash; It's dot com 05:46, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
:::::::::I guess it's another example of me vs. strictly encyclopedic. One of these days, I'ma get my shot to stick it to the man.--Antisexy 05:57, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
:Dot com: I think you misread what I typed. I said I was not sure if it was partially an intentional reference or not - of course he was making fun of the spelling. That said, he DID throw a few more Ls than the three that the emailer put in. "Hellalaloooooo" would have been accurate(ish) and not sounded like his retirement calling. I don't think it's certain, but it feels like you just came to the conclusion that it's not and won't read the rest. -- 07:14, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
::I was just commenting on the wording. I'm assuming you mean that it's partially a reference and partially a new joke, not partially intentional and partially accidental, because something like this is typically either intentional or it's not. After listening to both clips back to back, my contention is that they're really not that similar. Yes, one is reminiscent of the other, kinda sorta. Yes, SB says more luhs than there are l's, but he is often prone to exaggeration. &mdash; It's dot com 07:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
:::Okay, I can see that argument. I meant partially an intentional reference, in that it would be, if it's the case, half a joke on the misspelling. Sorry for any misunderstanding. -- 08:14, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Worms chasing each other -- Teen Titans reference?
The scene with the two worms chasing each other is very similar to a scene in the episode "Titan Rising" from season two of the animated series Teen Titans, in which three giant robotic worms attach lengthwise to each other and spin in the same fashion over Titans Tower. So similar, in fact, that I find it unlikely it's just a coincidence. Before I go add it to the Outside References section, though, does anyone else think this is worth mentioning?--ChurchPunk 3:13 AM, August 16, 2007 (EST)
:Being quite a fan of Teen Titans in general, and season 2 especially, I don't think so. I don't really see the resemblance.
:For anyone curious, here is a picture of the robo-worm individually, and here they are circling. --DorianGray 08:10, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
: Regardless of the picture, I would say that the worms from TT and The Worm biting it's own tail are both references to Ouroboros, which is already covered in the article. It would be like adding the fact that "a snake biting its tail from the other side" is a line from "I Palindrome I" by They Might Be Giants. To me this appears exactly like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes when he is teleporting. However, this may just be because I've been on a Heroes binge this week, so I thought I'd see if anyone else thought the same thing, and whether it's worth mentioning in the Fun Facts. Comments? Just thinkin' that Pom Pom's animation reminds me of the practice of "Makin' it rain" as frequently seen in rap music videos. This is especially topical, as Adam "Pacman" Jones, cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, was seen doing this very act in a strip club, and it lead to a shooting that left a bouncer paralyzed, and Jones suspended for a year from the NFL. -Telamon

He's very clearly tapping on the shower door / fourth wall. This also fits with him saying "need to get the acoustics checked in here". Acoustics refers to the way sound bounces around in a space, usually an enclosed space like a room. "In here" also refers to a closed space. He is clearly tapping on the door or fourth wall. If other people disagree, I think this should be put to a vote. -- Sam

:I disagree. Just because he's referring to a closed space (the shower) doesn't mean that his tapping is against the shower door. One does not necessarily lead logically to the other. He's using a brush as a microphone, and the sound that's made when he taps is the typical sound a microphone makes when tapped. In addition, he immediately asks, "Is this thing broken?" right after tapping. That says to me that it makes more logical sense for him to be tapping on the brush rather than the door. It's also more in line with his overall character. 19:36, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
:Actually, all the strings could be sympathetically vibrating along, and even the part of the string between Marzipan's "finger" and the nut could sympathetically vibrate. That's a pretty stretchy explanation, but it is one. == Clarification (comment on the content) ==

Originally, the toon and the game were separate Flash files - they were never put together in one single file. The toon originally probably had the game embedded in it - there was no page redirect. This rant is done. --Addict 2006 22:41, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
:Where is a rant? And why are you lecturing us in the thread heading? &mdash; It's dot com 01:56, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

::Furthermore, what are you saying here? Your statement contradicts itself. The statement "The toon and the game were separate Flash files" and "The toon originally probably had the game embedded in it" seem to contradict each other. I realize it's possible to embed one file in another, but for all intents and purposes, that makes the "game" part of the same file as the toon. The important point from the original fact (which I'm going to put back) is that the MixMastah appeared at the end of the toon in the same Flash file as the toon itself, rather than redirecting to another file like it does now. The technical details of having two separate files providing the resources is, in fact, irrelevant because of the original presentation.

::And, as It's dot com mentioned, what's with the link to a Wikipedia policy? There weren't any personal attacks in this that I was aware of, and we're also not Wikipedia (although I'd like to think that HRWiki's and WP's policies share some common ground, based on common sense). :P 18:30, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

I moved this here because it seemed sort of true and kind of interesting but too nitpicky for the article, especially given everything else we see that is impossible but that we accept at face value because it's a cartoon. &mdash; It's dot com 21:22, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
:Actually, all the strings could be sympathetically vibrating along, and even the part of the string between Marzipan's "finger" and the nut could sympathetically vibrate. That's a pretty stretchy explanation, but it is one. Sure, the vibrations would be less visible, but hey, it's a cartoon, and we already know the laws of physics are different in FCUSA. 21:27, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Clarification (comment on the content)

STRONG SAD: Augh! I'm blind! My prayers have finally been answered.

{Strong Sad tries to move his hands.}

STRONG SAD: Oh wait, my hands are just glued to my face. Oh well, I'll take that.

{Cut to Strong Bad and The Cheat standing outside Strong Sad's room.}

STRONG BAD: Oh man, he likes it! Okay, go to plan B!

{The Cheat salutes him and leaves. He brings back a bucket of red ants and takes it to Strong Sad's room.}

{The Paper comes down. One red ant crawls out of Strong Sad's room.}

Take it in a bit of a different direction
STRONG BAD: {typing} Though I decided to take it in a bit of a different direction.

{Cut to Strong Sad standing on a green field with his hands glued to his butt. Homestar walks up to him.}

STRONG SAD: Oh, hohoh... Oh, hey, Homestar!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Er, Strong Sad. Why are you touching your buttocks? That's pretty weird.

STRONG SAD: I can't help it!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Okay, that is really weird.

{Homestar walks away and Bubs walks up.}

STRONG SAD: No, wait, you don't understand!

BUBS: Grabbing your butt? That's not very ladylike.

STRONG SAD: I'm not a lady.

BUBS: Oh! Whatever.

{Bubs walks away and Strong Bad walks up}

STRONG SAD: Augh, this is getting frustrating!

STRONG BAD: Oh, Strong Sad. Fancy seeing you here! And uncontrollably grabbing your own butt, I see. Oh, don't let me get in the way. Carry on!

{Strong Bad snickers and walks away. Coach Z walks past.}

STRONG SAD: Please, come back!

COACH Z: 'Attaboy, Strong Sad.

{Coach Z walks away}

STRONG SAD: Hey, where are you going? You have any solvent? Or Goof Off? Or Didi Seven? Somebody get my hands off my butt!

{The Paper comes down}

Easter Eggs
*If you choose YES, after Strong Sad gets hit with dodgeballs, you can click the target on his belly to play the Peg Strong Sad game.
**There are four possibilities to hit Strong Sad:
***If you hit spacebar on the very right side of the screen, it hits the scoreboard.
***Close to the right side of Strong Sad's belly, the ball jumps to the upper right of the screen.
***If you hit the ball in the middle of the screen, it simply hits Strong Sad's belly and then drops.
***On the left, close to his belly, the ball jumps up, right into the basket.
**After scoring over 99 points, the scoreboard returns to 10 points.

Trivia
*When this email was first released, the extra choices weren't available; instead it immediately progressed to the "different direction" bit (which is why it's the only choice that continues with Strong Bad still typing). The choices were added a few weeks later.
*This was, until "rock opera," the only e-mail to have an "again" option at the end, allowing for easier access to the un-selected choices.
*This was the first e-mail to be over 2 minutes in length.

Real-World References
*This email is a reference to/satire of the Choose Your Own Adventure series of children's books created by Edward Packard, in which the reader controls the direction of the story by choosing from a number of options.
*In the book's picture, Strong Bad is in a cave, which has nothing to do with this email, but is a classic example of the type of illustrations found in the Choose Your Own Adventure books.
*Didi Seven is a real cleaner, as is Goof-Off.

Glitches
*If you know exactly where the contrast buttons are, when the book appears, it's possible to click the part of the book where the buttons are. This changes the brightness on the corner of the Tandy 400 in the background.

DVD Version
*The DVD Version has the Peg Strong Sad game removed, for obvious reasons.

STRONG BAD: {singing} Everybody love this, everybody needs this, it's time for funny stuff. {reading, in a Teen Girl Squad voice} Dear strong bad, you are the coolest... {stops reading, clears throat} Oh! Excuse me.

{reading}

<pre>Dear strong bad,
you are the coolest, any way onto
buisness. i think that you should
make your own theme park.

crapfully crap,
Rafael FL.</pre>

{Strong Bad pronounces "buisness" just as it's spelled, says "(sigh) Sincerely yours" instead of "crapfully crap," and "football league" instead of "FL"}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Well, Rafi, being the distinguished buisnessman {continues with the misspelling/pronunciation used earlier} that I am, I've had a theme park in development for quite some time now. Almost as long as I've been growin' this mustache.

{A 10,000x magnification of Strong Bad's upper lip appears, showing a growth of one hair.}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Anyways, it'd be called

{cut to view of a theme park by the Stop Sign and Cinder Block}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Strong Bad's Mount RIDESPLACE! USA

{As this is said, the appropriate words flash on the screen above the view of the theme park.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} And it will have more rides than you or your grandmother can handle.

{As this is said, the words "More Rides Than You Or Your Grandmother Can Handle!*" appear along with a "*please do not bring your grandmother" disclaimer on the bottom.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Of course, our flagship rollercoaster would be

{cut to view of the rollercoaster, which is perfectly circular and spins continually without stopping}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} The Bowels of Trogdor!! {pan out to see that The King of Town is riding the rollercoaster and screaming} Which would like whip you around and around until you either throw up or catch fire somehow. {The King of Town catches fire somehow}

{Cut to Strong Bad and The Cheat and the entrance to the ride. A Trogdor sign is there that says "Peasants must be as tall as my beefy arm to ride this ride." The Cheat is clearly not tall enough.}

STRONG BAD: Sorry little guy, I can't do nothing for you. {The Cheat puts on a top hat} Maybe you better head over to Sweet Cuppin' Cakes Land instead.

THE CHEAT: {Makes a thoroughly disappointed noise}

{cut to Strong Sad standing on a stage}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} And every hour, at the main stage, there'd be a performance of The Strong Sad Gets Decked Repeatedly Stunt Spook-tacular.

{A banner lowers behind Strong Sad that says "The Strong Sad Gets Decked Repeatedly Stunt SPOOK-tacular!!" Strong Sad is wearing a witch's hat. Strong Mad comes from stage right to flying tackle Strong Sad.}

STRONG MAD: MAUHHH!

STRONG SAD: Oh!

{Strong Sad climbs back up on the stage. Strong Mad comes from stage left this time to flying tackle Strong Sad again.}

STRONG MAD: MAUHHH!

STRONG SAD: Oh!

{cut to Strong Bad behind a table with a layout of the theme park on it}

STRONG BAD: To make sure you don't have any money left when you leave, {the words "not to scale" appear with an arrow pointing at the layout} there'd be more games than you or your grandFATHER could handle.

{cut to Bubs working the "Throw Game"}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} You know, the ones where you throw hoops or rings or baseballs at different stuff and try to win cheap generic stuffed animal versions of ten-year-old cartoons.

{During this voice over, Pom Pom plays the "Throw Game" while Bubs looks on. Pom Pom successfully gets all three rings that he tosses around the "xtra cold one" bottle. Strong Bad's arm appears, holding up a cheap stuffed animal}

STRONG BAD: Like this Bubs with a horn.

BUBS: No, no, no. You gotta get those rings inside the bottle.

POM POM: {makes bubble noises}

{Pom Pom picks up a baseball and throws it at the bottle in frustration. Cut back to Strong Bad behind the layout of the park}

STRONG BAD: No theme park would be complete without a bunch of costumed mascots running around antic-ing... {scratches head} antique-ing... whatever.

{Cut to view of an area behind some fencing. The King of Town still rides "The Bowels of Trogdor!!" in the distance.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} You know, there'd be one of the Stop Sign,

{Coach Z appears wearing a costume that has a cartoonish looking Stop Sign design}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} call him "Stoppy, Stoppy the sign" and then there'd be the tire...

{Homestar appears wearing a costume that has a very cartoonish looking Tire design}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} call him "Poppy the tire"... And who could forget "General Tso's Chicken"

{A carton of what could only be General Tso's Chicken falls from the sky. It has "Ryan S." written on the side. Homsar's feet appear beneath it.}

HOMESTAR: Hey, Stoppy, is your suit chafing you like crazy?

COACH Z: Well, to tell ya da truth dere Poppy, I've always enjoyed a good chafe.

HOMSAR: AaAaAaAaA! It's time for tasteball.

HOMESTAR: Oh crap! It's tasteball already?

{cut to Strong Bad back at the compy}

STRONG BAD: {typing} But yeah, it's a pretty unrealistic vision. I'm gonna have to start robbing WAY more hot actresses if I ever hope to make that dream a reality. But for now, I'll settle for giving tours on The Strong Badian Riverquest Safariventure.

{He gets up. Cut to Strong Bad standing in a box in Strongbadia. He holds some sort of microphone.}

STRONG BAD: {Strong Bad makes a microphone click noise and speaks in a theme-park tour-guide-styled monotone voice} Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen my name is Strong Bad and welcome to The Strong Badian Riverquest Safariventure. {Strong Bad makes a click noise again}

{Cut to wide view of Strong Bad standing in a box labeled "riverquest safariventure". Homestar sits in front of him in the box. To the left is a running hose. The water from the hose forms a puddle around the box.}

STRONG BAD: {click} Please keep your arms legs and valuables inside the vehicle at all times and get ready to experience the fury of: The Strong Badian Riverboat Superfun... ride. {click}

{The Paper comes down. About 5 seconds later, it zooms in on Strong Bad and Homestar and the tour continues}

STRONG BAD: {click} And first up on our tour if you look to your right {Homestar looks to his right} experience the fury of: {cut to wider view} a big rock that is going to fall on uuuus. {An obviously fake rock pops up behind the fence, mounted on a stick.}

HOMESTAR: Ooooh. {The rock goes back down behind the fence.}

STRONG BAD: That was a close call, I hope everyone is okaaaay.

HOMESTAR: I'm not ok--

STRONG BAD: Shut up. {click}

{cut to closeup of Strong Bad}

STRONG BAD: {click} And if you look up the river here comes another one of our tour guides his name is The Cheat {Cut to wide view again. The Cheat walks by in his own box, which is labeled "R.Q. 2".} everybody say "Hi, The Cheeeeat."

HOMESTAR: Hide and seek.

{Some drum sounds can be heard}

STRONG BAD: {click} Oh what's that I hear is it the sound of island drums? Oh no it's headhunteeerrrs. {The cardboard cutout of a bear holding a shark, posing as a "headhunter," pops up from behind the fence.} {click} Everyone stay in the boat, I'll take care of thiiis. {click}

{Strong Bad pulls out a starting pistol, and turns his head away as he fires up into the air twice. The cutout goes back down behind the fence.}

STRONG BAD: {click} Looks like we scared those headhunters. Let's hope they don't come baaack. {click}

{cut to closeup of Strong Bad again}

STRONG BAD: {click} Well folks we've made it back safely did everyone have a good time?

HOMESTAR: Not really.

{Strong Bad continues to talk while Homestar answers.}

STRONG BAD: Goooood. Please leave your valuables under your seat and exit to your riiiight. {click}

{cut to wide view again}

HOMESTAR: Strong Bad, I gotta level with ya. That might have been the worst three thousand dollars I ever spent.

{The Paper comes down again. After another pause, Strong Bad speaks again}

STRONG BAD: {click} Don't forget to experience the fury of: our gift shooop. {click}

Easter Eggs
* Click on "buisness" after Strong Bad says it in the first part of the email to see a picture of The Ugly One and Cheerleader.
** Cheerleader looks angry and is wearing a dress that says, "kiss boys". She has a speech bubble that reads, "the ugly one, why you always gotta be all up in my bweez-NASS?" The Ugly One looks sad.

* Click on "Rafi" to see a mock NFL patch.

* Click on "Mount" in "Mount Ridesplace USA" after Strong Bad says "USA" to see Monkey D's season pass.
<pre>Strong Bad's Mount Ridesplace USA
Season Pass
Name: Monkey D
Has: Fun
Valid thru 9/04
(signed) Monkey D</pre>

* Click on the next to last Bubs doll on the lower row, left side in the "Throw Game" stand to see a real Bubs plushie thingie.

Fun Facts
Trivia
*The paper on Strong Bad's desk is labeled "plans for stuff".
*The box in the throw game appears to be labeled "BOX FOR THROW GAME", in all capital letters.

Remarks
*Roller coasters don't usually have circular loops on them like the Bowels of Trogdor, because the G-forces involved, indeed, usually cause people to pass out. No one usually catches fire, though.
*Strong Bad pushes his thumb far out of his boxing glove when he sends the Cheat to Sweet Cuppin' Cakes land. This wouldn't usually be possible with a real boxing glove.

Goofs
*When Pom Pom hits the bottle with the ball, a crashing sound is heard yet it doesn't break.
*At the end of the SBRQSV, look for the stop sign. It's not there! It disappeared sometime between the pause the first time the paper came down, and the fake boulder.

Glitches
*When the SBRQSV is over, the water stops flowing from the hose.

Inside References
*The "headhunter" is the bear holding a shark cardboard figure from date.
*Pom Pom throws rings around an "Xtra Cold One", first seen in Cheat Commandos Commercial.
*The music played during Strong Sad's "Stunt Spooktacular" is the same music that was used in The House that Gave Sucky Treats.

Real-World References
*The Strong Badian Riverquest Safariventure is a parody of Disneyland's Jungle Cruise ride. Strong Bad does not breathe or show any expression and this monotone delivery is reminiscent of Jungle Cruise tour guides who give the same tour over and over again. The shooting of a warning shot (in this case a flare gun) to scare off the bear and shark "headhunters" is directly from the tour guide script. Most of Strong Bad's speech correlates to the tour.
*Strong Bad's reading of the name as 'Rafi' might be an obscure reference to a Canadian children's entertainer, Raffi.
*The Bowels of Trogdor might be a reference to the now obsolete ride, Fireball, at Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ.
*Poppy the Tire looks very similar to Peter Puck a cartoon hockey puck from a 1973 Hanna-Barbera Cartoon.
