:Sort of! "…" is different from "...", it's a single character rather than three periods. Try highlighting it and you can see. This is kind of like the difference between “curly quotes” and "straight quotes" - in both cases, the former is typically made via autocorrect in word processors or mobile keyboards, while the latter is preferred by the wiki. [[Strong Bad Email]] has been in the sidebar for as long as I can remember, presumably because it was the most popular and most actively updated portion of the website. With the Twitter account handily outpacing both sbemails and "H*R.com updates" (not to mention the [[CGI Paper]] directing viewers to tweet rather than email), might it be worth adding it over there? Alright, so, I've been thinking. The block log has a lot of "user banned for editing userpages of other users". So, the main page, for example, has a system so only sysops can edit it. :The thing is, I feel sysops / admins / wiki bots should probably still be able to edit user pages. For example, an admin fixing a bug on the page or a bot auto-replacing a link. If a user page is edited for anything other than a legitimate reason, the edit typically gets quickly reverted. No harm done. Anyone that might be banned in relation to user page edits is most likely doing it in a disruptive manner. In any case, the block logs mostly include bans for spamming. For about the past week, I haven't been able to access the HRWiki, and downforeveryoneorjustme.com consistently confirmed (and still does) that hrwiki.org is down. However, I see that plenty of edits have been made to the wiki in that time, so obviously it wasn't entirely down. Basically, I've been presented with a white screen that occasionally loaded the hills in the background and sometimes the Homestar logo in the top-left corner, and if I moved the mouse around the screen, it would recognize where links and drop-down menus were, but it wouldn't show me any text for the links and all. :Hey Knights. Usually, when a big update is released, wiki activity jumps exponentially and typically the wiki reaction times can slow down to a crawl. Pages still load but they take forever and one must be patient. Eventually that goes away as edits taper down. However, for a site like "downforeveryoneorjustme", their timeout is likely far shorter than regular browsers when reporting if a site is down. In your particular case it seems that not all website elements are loading and some may be timing out and not loading at all. I'd typically expect that behavior during peak edit times. ::At some point I did see pages seemingly load but remain blank unless I interacted with the tab in some way, though that could have been a browser issue, it never really prevented me from accessing the wiki, and I haven't been experiencing it for a while. I've also had some "unable to connect" errors because sometimes when loading the wiki, it attempts to load an https URL. In the last couple of months I've come across the Job Queue and [[MW:Manual:Job queue|this mediawiki page]] detailing what it is and how it's supposed to function. I get the impression that currently, all jobs on the wiki are running when a page is being requested. The page outlines a means by which the jobs can be run in the background (either via cron job or background process; I'd recommend the background process) and then the job run rate could be set to zero (so that pages aren't spending time running jobs while loading). The wiki's been crawling along like something funny that crawls along for about a year now. This hasn't been much more than a minor inconvenience on my end, but it comes up pretty frequently on [https://www.reddit.com/r/HomestarRunner/ the Homestar subreddit], with a concerning number saying they haven't been able to access it at all. [https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/hrwiki.org downforeveryoneorjustme.com] consistently insists that the system is down. I don't know what the hosting situation is like, nor am I anything close to an expert on such things, so unfortunately I can't diagnose the issue... But, [[DNA Evidence|after <s>extensive</s> investigation]], I'm ready to release my findings.

:Out of curiosity, I decided to use [[Special:Statistics]] and the WayBack Machine to calculate roughly how many people have been affected by the slow load times. After comparing the last seven months (from around the start of the slowdowns to now) to the seven months prior, I found that the average number of edits per day has decreased from 22 to 14, and the average number of active users has dropped from 27 to 17. That's a 37% decrease in ''both'' areas, leading me to believe they are linked by a common cause...
:Unfortunately I couldn't figure out if that percentage corresponded to anything specific, like "37% of people use this certain type of Internet connection"... That information would tell me which people are having problems accessing the wiki, and from there I might be able to research a potential solution, assuming any of that works the way I think it does. So far this month, [[Special:Contributions/Bleu Ninja|Bleu Ninja]] has created a few pages that have started with a picture, and in the edit summary, a pair of opening square brackets is included in the link. However, there doesn't seem to be any problem in the page itself. A secondary question regarding [http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&offset=20251007190720&limit=1&target=Bleu+Ninja This one] is that "Dangeresque (character)" appears hyperlinked in the edit summary text. However, on the page itself, the link is piped and reads as "Dangeresque". All the rest of the links seem to be properly piped in the edit summaries. :Wow! That's an interesting observation I hadn't noticed! I'd lean towards this being a "quirk" that we don't need to worry about. As to the why, I can try to make an educated guess:
:* First off, we must keep in mind that since edit summaries are mostly text, they're limited in terms of the wiki code they can render (well mainly, none except links, I think?) Also, both edit summaries are automatically generated when a new page is created with no summary.
:* Now, here's the wiki code in question from the first link:

:I wouldn't be surprised if the cause is more stringent spam prevention protocols such as {{w|DMARC}}, {{w|Sender Policy Framework|SPF}} and/or {{w|DKIM}} being implemented virtually everywhere. And if a host sending email isn't using these, most likely their emails get treated as spam. This is likely a seldom used feature these days since [[HRWiki:Why create an account?|account creation is now a manual process]]. But that's only a guess. :Probably AI bots. CloudFlare et. al. have partial solutions to block them, but they have their own issues. Upgrading PHP and MediaWiki may help, as newer versions are far more efficient than [[Special:Version|the ones installed]].
:However, it will be necessary to go to MediaWiki 1.35 and ''then'' MediaWiki 1.43 because [https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T259771 upgrade support is limited to the last two LTSes] as of MW 1.36. Also, just upgrading the hardware helps. Also also, [[mw:Compatibility#Database|you'll need to upgrade the database server as well]], at least for any LTS version beyond MW 1.35. But that'd be almost inherent in moving from something newer than Ubuntu 12.04. *Some hours after its release, the game began in the ''Hag's Clearing'' where you have no points yet possess the Fake Ketchup, already used.
*There was a warp portal that took you directly inside the dungeon that was accessed by typing "GO IN LOG" or "ENTER LOG" at the creepy woods; however, if you have not yet gotten the flask-grabbing glove, you will be unable to win the game. VOIPing back out from this path would cause a gateway to the dungeon to appear at the crossroads, and then at the creepy woods.
*When the game was first released, if the hag had 4 kids, then any answer you give her (including 4) would be taken as incorrect. The only way to fix this was to restart. This was fixed soon afterward.

'''The Paper''' was the piece of printer paper that came down from the top of the screen after nearly every [[Strong Bad Email]], up until [[the paper]], when it was replaced by [[New Paper]]. It usually would read:

In the first twenty emails, it contained just the first line without an email address. The Paper coming down usually signals the end of the email; however, the majority of [[Easter egg]]s can be found after The Paper has come down. One can either wait around or click on certain words [[Strong Bad]] has typed. It is shown in [[the paper]] that Strong Bad had its printer above his desk, but it is still unclear exactly where it was attached to. This seemingly magical paper can sometimes be seen manifesting itself out of the clear blue sky, where it can seem huge in comparison to its normal size. Some suggest that it's merely in the foreground. On occasion, Strong Bad has touched The Paper in closeup, making The Paper look even more like it's gigantic compared to everything else by having his hand seem notably smaller than The Paper.

From the sound it made and the quality of the printout, the printer that produces The Paper can be assumed to be of the [[Wikipedia:dot matrix printer|dot matrix]] variety. The sprocket holes on the edges further indicated that it had a tractor feed mechanism. Both technologies are almost completely [[Strong Bad's Technology|outmoded]]. In most appearances, The Paper prints upside-down from how a real dot-matrix printer would operate; that is, the ''last'' line prints first toward the free edge of the page. However, as seen in [[the paper]], it is also capable of printing in the "normal" orientation. A drawing of the printer in [[lady fan]] also shows the printer operating in this way.

It was foretold in [[montage]] that The Paper would stick around until email #173, at which time Strong Bad would upgrade to an [[New Paper|inkjet printer]]. This did indeed come to pass. The Paper's printer began to malfunction, and fell from its hidden spot above the computer. After a series of flashbacks reminiscing about The Paper, it bade Strong Bad farewell, and he cremated it with the [[BMW lighter]]. Its ashes spelled "Bye now". Strong Bad then sang a lament for his departed friend: "And The Paper goeth into the niiIIiiIIiiIIght!"

Despite The Paper's demise on the website, The Paper returned alive and well in [[Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People]], as part of the in-game menu. It also returned to the site for Strong Bad's [[email thunder|200th email]], when it fought the [[New Paper]] offscreen. It was then accidentally burned to a crisp once more by the electrocuting Happy 8600.

The [[onomatopoeia]] for The Paper's sound effect is "[[preeeeow]]", mentioned in [[autobiography]], [[haircut]], [[part-time job]], [[garage sale]], [[lady fan]], [[coloring]], and [[the paper]]. The Paper is always referred to with an [[integral article]].

First of all, the links that bkmlb left on your talk page are good reading; [[Help:Contents|Help]] is mostly on ''how'' to do things, [[HRWiki:Standards|Standards]] more on ''what'' to do. But they're kind of a lot to take in; I just today noticed some excellent details on how to make some stuff more easily at [[User:Lapper/help]]. 
:     But to answer your question: [[HRWiki:STUFF]] is a sort of formal voting process. Using the most recent email as an example: usually when an email comes out, disagreements will arise about what they're saying; at first people will talk about them in [[Talk:geddup noise|that email's Talk page]], and if there are two clear sides, or if it's an important issue, someone will move the fact being discussed into [[Template:STUFF/geddup noise|Stuff]], using the process described in [[HRWiki:STUFF]]. There it'll be voted on; even if it's declined those votes and arguments will be archived forever and can be found. Voting tends to be pretty restrictive, i.e. not much gets by; if I'm really interested in an e-mail I'll check the archived Stuff arguments. For instance: the possible bit of trivia expressed in [[Talk:Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_9#Byrds_reference]] is way too speculative to appear in the official, user-end page for that 'toon, but it's helpful to know. 
:     By the way, I know it's frustrating being repeatedly reverted, but dramatic actions to the official, front-page part of an article are simply met with equally dramatic reversal. When that happens, just move your point to the less public Talk or Stuff venues, and see what majority opinion is. You might be overruled, but you always have the right to express your opinion (there, at least). For example, in [[do over]], there was a LONG and HEATED debate about a possible [[Talk:do_over#Change_of_Pace_.28ACCEPTED.29|Family Guy reference]]. Since its origins in [[comic]], it's been in some ways moving away from an awareness that it's being created by Strong Bad and bleeding into the exterior H*R world (by being listed on Toons, for instance). The increasing frequency of voices that don't sound like Strong Bad would fit this trend (or you could argue they're simply Matt running out of voices). 
     ''On the other hand'', several recent episodes have contained reminders of Strong Bad's authorship; he wrote himself into Episode 9, and now—'''now'''—we have the first appearance of the exterior H*R world in a TGS episode. Although this would seem to contribute to the "bleed" in the previous paragraph, it in fact does the latter; it emphasizes TGS as an interior fiction when we see it lying there on the table. (Of course Strong Bad's makey outy action just throws the whole thing for a loop: first he draws himself ''into'' the interior fiction, then causes his representation ''in that world'' to interact with its characters, then interacts ''himself'' across the existential boundary.) The relative reality (within H*R) of TGS wobbles dramatically during this episode: Strong Sad reduces it to "looose leaf," while Strong Bad gets drawn into its fictional reality (figuratively and literally). The introduction of color and fancier animation is no accident, either; they of course heighten the perceived reality of the TGS universe. Enough to make all our minds spin 360 degrees. 
     So where does that leave me on this vote? Honestly, I dunno. This is sure as heck not the ''first'' time (Mr. Pitters, the vultures that eat him, and others are arguably un-Strong-Bad-like), but whether such voices are in fact '''not''' Strong Bad has to do with how rigid the authorial connection of Strong Bad to TGS has become. Hey AbdiViklas (I'm still not used to that). The instructions on the standards page read: "If there's any reasonable doubt, ... please add it to the Talk page or the STUFF page before adding it to the article." Well, that's exactly what Kookykman did, so I don't think it's necessary to list that on the STUFF page. Also, the comments section isn't really for communicating with specific users. That's one of the reasons we don't sign comments, to keep a little distance between the comments and the commenter (and so that we don't degrade into personal attacks (we used to have a ''huge'' problem with that)). Perhaps your comments to Kookykman would be better suited for his talk page. Just a thought. All in all, you're getting the hang of it... just remember, in STUFF, the shorter, the better. This is kind of changing the subject, but while I'm thinking about it, you should join us in the [[HRWiki:IRC channel|IRC chatroom]] sometime. So, after reading your question, I decided to use my theory chops (and that neat little trick called absolute pitch) to find out what it is. Here's what I got: A-B-C#-D#-F#-G#-A#-C-C#-D-Eb-F-G-Bb. So, there are some whole-tone segments, but it's certainly not entirely whole tone. Not to mention that I swear a few of them are some kind of quarter tone. I can't really find any good pattern for it at all (if only it had been octatonic! A little Homestravinsky Runner!) First of all, the links that bkmlb left on your talk page are good reading; [[Help:Contents|Help]] is mostly on ''how'' to do things, [[HRWiki:Standards|Standards]] more on ''what'' to do. But they're kind of a lot to take in; I just today noticed some excellent details on how to make some stuff more easily at [[User:Lapper/help]]. 
:     But to answer your question: [[HRWiki:STUFF]] is a sort of formal voting process. Using the most recent email as an example: usually when an email comes out, disagreements will arise about what they're saying; at first people will talk about them in [[Talk:geddup noise|that email's Talk page]], and if there are two clear sides, or if it's an important issue, someone will move the fact being discussed into [[Template:STUFF/geddup noise|Stuff]], using the process described in [[HRWiki:STUFF]]. There it'll be voted on; even if it's declined those votes and arguments will be archived forever and can be found. Voting tends to be pretty restrictive, i.e. not much gets by; if I'm really interested in an e-mail I'll check the archived Stuff arguments. For instance: the possible bit of trivia expressed in [[Talk:Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_9#Byrds_reference]] is way too speculative to appear in the official, user-end page for that 'toon, but it's helpful to know. 
:     By the way, I know it's frustrating being repeatedly reverted, but dramatic actions to the official, front-page part of an article are simply met with equally dramatic reversal. When that happens, just move your point to the less public Talk or Stuff venues, and see what majority opinion is. You might be overruled, but you always have the right to express your opinion (there, at least). For example, in [[do over]], there was a LONG and HEATED debate about a possible [[Talk:do_over#Change_of_Pace_.28ACCEPTED.29|Family Guy reference]]. Jay was strongly against it, and in the end was voted down; he had to live with it, but was able to [[Talk:do_over#IMMEDIATE_contesting_of_an_Accepted_fact|continue the debate]].

The increasing frequency of voices that don't sound like Strong Bad would fit this trend (or you could argue they're simply Matt running out of voices). 
     ''On the other hand'', several recent episodes have contained reminders of Strong Bad's authorship; he wrote himself into Episode 9, and now—'''now'''—we have the first appearance of the exterior H*R world in a TGS episode. Although this would seem to contribute to the "bleed" in the previous paragraph, it in fact does the latter; it emphasizes TGS as an interior fiction when we see it lying there on the table. (Of course Strong Bad's makey outy action just throws the whole thing for a loop: first he draws himself ''into'' the interior fiction, then causes his representation ''in that world'' to interact with its characters, then interacts ''himself'' across the existential boundary.) The relative reality (within H*R) of TGS wobbles dramatically during this episode: Strong Sad reduces it to "looose leaf," while Strong Bad gets drawn into its fictional reality (figuratively and literally). The introduction of color and fancier animation is no accident, either; they of course heighten the perceived reality of the TGS universe. Enough to make all our minds spin 360 degrees. 
     So where does that leave me on this vote? Honestly, I dunno. This is sure as heck not the ''first'' time (Mr. Pitters, the vultures that eat him, and others are arguably un-Strong-Bad-like), but whether such voices are in fact '''not''' Strong Bad has to do with how rigid the authorial connection of Strong Bad to TGS has become. Hey AbdiViklas (I'm still not used to that). The instructions on the standards page read: "If there's any reasonable doubt, ... please add it to the Talk page or the STUFF page before adding it to the article." Well, that's exactly what Kookykman did, so I don't think it's necessary to list that on the STUFF page. Also, the comments section isn't really for communicating with specific users. That's one of the reasons we don't sign comments, to keep a little distance between the comments and the commenter (and so that we don't degrade into personal attacks (we used to have a ''huge'' problem with that)). Perhaps your comments to Kookykman would be better suited for his talk page. Just a thought. All in all, you're getting the hang of it... just remember, in STUFF, the shorter, the better. This is kind of changing the subject, but while I'm thinking about it, you should join us in the [[HRWiki:IRC channel|IRC chatroom]] sometime. First of all, the links that bkmlb left on your talk page are good reading; [[Help:Contents|Help]] is mostly on ''how'' to do things, [[HRWiki:Standards|Standards]] more on ''what'' to do. But they're kind of a lot to take in; I just today noticed some excellent details on how to make some stuff more easily at [[User:Lapper/help]]. 
:     But to answer your question: [[HRWiki:STUFF]] is a sort of formal voting process. Using the most recent email as an example: usually when an email comes out, disagreements will arise about what they're saying; at first people will talk about them in [[Talk:geddup noise|that email's Talk page]], and if there are two clear sides, or if it's an important issue, someone will move the fact being discussed into [[Template:STUFF/geddup noise|Stuff]], using the process described in [[HRWiki:STUFF]]. There it'll be voted on; even if it's declined those votes and arguments will be archived forever and can be found. Voting tends to be pretty restrictive, i.e. not much gets by; if I'm really interested in an e-mail I'll check the archived Stuff arguments. For instance: the possible bit of trivia expressed in [[Talk:Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_9#Byrds_reference]] is way too speculative to appear in the official, user-end page for that 'toon, but it's helpful to know. 
:     By the way, I know it's frustrating being repeatedly reverted, but dramatic actions to the official, front-page part of an article are simply met with equally dramatic reversal. When that happens, just move your point to the less public Talk or Stuff venues, and see what majority opinion is. You might be overruled, but you always have the right to express your opinion (there, at least). The increasing frequency of voices that don't sound like Strong Bad would fit this trend (or you could argue they're simply Matt running out of voices). 
     ''On the other hand'', several recent episodes have contained reminders of Strong Bad's authorship; he wrote himself into Episode 9, and now—'''now'''—we have the first appearance of the exterior H*R world in a TGS episode. Although this would seem to contribute to the "bleed" in the previous paragraph, it in fact does the latter; it emphasizes TGS as an interior fiction when we see it lying there on the table. (Of course Strong Bad's makey outy action just throws the whole thing for a loop: first he draws himself ''into'' the interior fiction, then causes his representation ''in that world'' to interact with its characters, then interacts ''himself'' across the existential boundary.) The relative reality (within H*R) of TGS wobbles dramatically during this episode: Strong Sad reduces it to "looose leaf," while Strong Bad gets drawn into its fictional reality (figuratively and literally). The introduction of color and fancier animation is no accident, either; they of course heighten the perceived reality of the TGS universe. Enough to make all our minds spin 360 degrees. 
     So where does that leave me on this vote? Honestly, I dunno. This is sure as heck not the ''first'' time (Mr. Pitters, the vultures that eat him, and others are arguably un-Strong-Bad-like), but whether such voices are in fact '''not''' Strong Bad has to do with how rigid the authorial connection of Strong Bad to TGS has become. Hey AbdiViklas (I'm still not used to that). Well, that's exactly what Kookykman did, so I don't think it's necessary to list that on the STUFF page. Also, the comments section isn't really for communicating with specific users. That's one of the reasons we don't sign comments, to keep a little distance between the comments and the commenter (and so that we don't degrade into personal attacks (we used to have a ''huge'' problem with that)). Perhaps your comments to Kookykman would be better suited for his talk page. Just a thought. All in all, you're getting the hang of it... just remember, in STUFF, the shorter, the better. So your edit was actually a good one (although we should still put it in a comment).
