Okay, I just realized, we don't have external links on the [[Strong Bad Email]] page, so why do we have links on this one? Should we get rid of them here, or add them to the SBEmail page? :I like making people go to the individual page. You know, force them to look at our work. I think the only reason the Marzipan's Answering Machine page had them was because of the different format that we used for them in 'Tavi. We only had a transcipt for each episode, so the link could be on the main page. With the newer format, that really isn't necessary. Does that make sense?

All the pages within the Homestar Runner Wiki universe sort of "assume" you have been briefed on the basics of what Homestar Runner is, and it seems that if you haven't been, then the Wikipedia entry is exactly the aerial view you are looking for...

That's why I've been focusing on broadening the cooperation and trust between Wikipedia and The Homestar Runner Wiki, and if you want to see some of the general strategy ideas, see [[Wikipedia:Template_talk:Hrwiki|this discussion]] attached to a template which I created as an experiment to prominently point readers towards the HRWiki as a trusted [[Wikipedia:Interwiki|Interwiki Sister Projects]]. What I'd like to see is a natural forwarding to occur from the Wikipedia into the Homestar Runner Wiki, and if this is done properly there won't be a concern. The first step is for the two projects to trust and build on each other. Plain ol' duplication helps no one... (acct creation seems to be broken, so I'm just my IP address, sorry)

Then it declined and peeked again on February 6 (I recall this was the exact time, because [[Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer]] was released and the site crashed). It has an absurdist sense of humor similar to that found in ''[[Wikipedia:H.R. Pufnstuf|H.R. Pufnstuf]]''. Although originally conceived as [[Original Book|a book written for children]], the site is perhaps most popular with (and has been gravitating toward) young adults, with its short movies, games, charmingly naïve music, and plentiful opportunities for interaction.

The [[Toons|cartoons]] nominally center on [[Homestar Runner]], a somewhat dim but goodhearted athlete. The character [[Strong Bad]], however, is often more popular among fans, mostly through his near-weekly updates of [[Strong Bad Email]], short cartoons in which he answers viewer email. Strong Bad works closely with his sidekick [[The Cheat]] and uses his brother [[Strong Mad]] as the muscle in his operations. Together, the three prey on Strong Bad's awkward and constantly depressed brother [[Strong Sad]]. Many of the site's features—[[Songs|music]], [[Games|games]], [[Main Pages|main pages]], etc.—are based on things from the Strong Bad Emails.

Several other characters fill out the [[Free Country, USA|world]]: Homestar's hippie girlfriend [[Marzipan]], his best friend [[Pom Pom]], their coach [[Coach Z]], local [[Bubs' Concession Stand|concession stand]] operator and dancer [[Bubs]], [[The King of Town]], and his [[The Poopsmith|Poopsmith]]. Rounding out the cast is [[Homsar]], a gibberish-speaking character created on account of (and in mock of) [[homsar|a poorly written email to Strong Bad]].

Another popular feature on the website is Strong Bad's crudely drawn comic series ''[[Teen Girl Squad]]''. The comic parodies four archetypal high-school girls and their equally archetypal quest for attractiveness, popularity, and the occasional Pan-Asian Cuisine.

Nearly every Monday, some sort of update (a short, a longer cartoon, a Strong Bad e-mail, a video game, or real-life merchandise like CDs and action figures) is added to the website.

The series is the product of [[Matt Chapman|Matt]] and [[Mike Chapman]], who typically call themselves "[[The Brothers Chaps]]." Matt Chapman provides the voices of the male characters, while [[Missy Palmer]] (Mike's wife) does that of Marzipan. Mike Chapman provides the stilted voices for [[Powered by The Cheat|The Cheat's amateurish Flash cartoons]]. Many other [[Contributors|contributors]] help with the series.

Because the Brothers Chaps run their own website, they have a creative freedom that they would not have doing a regular TV show. Though the site sells [[Store|Homestar merchandise]], it has no commercials, and a few of the cartoons parody advertising, with products like [[Fluffy Puff Marshmallows]]. The Internet has allowed them to reach a large audience that they wouldn't have access to otherwise. Originally, they developed Homestar Runner as a labor of love, and for their own amusement. It has grown large enough that merchandise sales pay for all of the costs of running the website. An article in the ''Chicago Tribune'' on July 24, 2003, reports [[Don and Harriet Chapman|the retired parents of the Brothers Chaps]] are spending a lot of time dealing with the business aspects of the website.

The website, built mostly out of [[Wikipedia:Macromedia Flash|Macromedia Flash]] animations, is filled with hidden [[Easter egg]]s: if a certain area on the page is mouse-clicked at the right time, an additional cartoon or screen will appear. Homeschool may not make a bunch of appearances, but every loyal fan to the site knows him. And keep the Unguiriantes, or whatever. I can't spell them. they were almost in a major toon, and I like them.

As with all famous cartoon character ensembles, [[Homestar Runner (flash cartoon)|Homestar Runner]] went through its fair share of line-up changes early on, before the final group of twelve main characters were chosen. The '''rejected characters''' are those who seem to have been abandoned, with very few sightings to date. Some appeared in an early toon or game, while others are only seen in the [[Museum Sketchbook]] or the [[Character Cards]]. All that is known about them for sure is that they won't be around much anymore.

The mysterious character of Homeschool Winner came about when a friend of [[The Brothers Chaps|the Brothers Chaps]] was unable to recall [[Homestar Runner]]'s name. In the [[Club Aquatica Interview - 29 Oct 2003|Club Aquatica interview]], [[Matt Chapman|Matt]] recalls that his friend said: "What's your website, HomeschoolWinner.com?" Homeschool is described as "a big nerd, with maybe a creepy edge to him."

The character seems to have been aborted, with few sightings to date. He first appeared and was named on the [[Character Cards]], which are now on a [[Secret Pages|secret page]]. He then made a cameo in one of the backgrounds of [[Dancin' Bubs]]. Humorously mentioned in the [[Sample of Style]] video on the [[strongbad email.exe|DVD]], [[Mike Chapman|Mike]] breaks the tube Matt uses to "make" [[Bubs]]' voice, and Matt says: "Great. Now we have to kill off Bubs. Just like Homeschool Winner."
