Mustachioed Homestar Runner
Well I guess this email answers the question about whether Mustachioed Homestar Runner was a unique character or not. Now we know that he at least has the same voice as Homestar. And I imagine that this is the first time we can actually see him without having to view the toon from its Flash file directly. 00:50, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC)

::Could that be Fabrosi? Strong Bad mentioned that he was probably out lady-ing with a fake mustache. -- 71.34.147.24 20:37, 8 Aug 2005 (MDT)

Maybe Homestar wrote in using Fabrosi as a pseudonym...

A side note: Fabrosi could also be Homsar, since he wears a false mustache in his main page. Smileyface11945 19:10, 18 Aug 2005 (UTC)

::::If Fabrosi is in fact meant to be a real character, I think The Announcer resembles SB's description the best. == Stocks and Stipes Forever ==
Toward the end of the email, Strong Bad says stocks are up and stipes are down. According to dictionary.com, a 'stipe' is "A supporting stalk or stemlike structure, especially the stalk of a pistil, the petiole of a fern frond, or the stalk that supports the cap of a mushroom". It's a bit of an unfamiliar word, I bet, so someone may want to add it to the Fun Facts. Just make sure no one alludes 'stocks' to being like 'stalks'. That's a bit too much of a stretch. --DorianGray

::I agree. TBC is very good at making such obscure allusions to things that require a bit more knowledge to know about. From the definition it sounds like it correlates perfectly, too. --64.164.69.221 10:05, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Buisness/Ab-Abber
I don't feel confident to put this on the main page, but is it possible he says "buisness"? And I'm a little surprised no one's tried to note the similarity between his appearance when he says "muscular" and the handiwork of the Ab-Abber 2000 (granted, not identical; he HAS pecs here).--notstrongorbad

I noticed that too. I second the motion but I'm still not confident enough to add it. I'd wait for the DVD so people can find out by reading the subtitles. -- Octan
Strong Bad's exact height
Surprised I'm the first to pick up on this eMail's potential for beautifully pointless nitpickery and obssessive fandom. Think about it: a laserdisc is held onscreen, perfectly parallel to the plane of the camera lens, and apparently the exact same distance from said lens as Strong Bad's head. Laserdiscs have a diameter of precisely 30 centimeters. We now know Strong Bad's exact height. That's one step away from knowing his shoe size. That's yet another step away from actually stalking a fictional character. Just think of the potential; "Homsar's hat leaps exactly 14.7 centimeters above his head", "The Thnikkaman's shades appear to be <brand name>, but are 0.3 millimeters too wide, et-bloody-cetera". Or I suppose we could just take note of Strong Bad and the Cheat's height, since it's the kind of delightfully meaningless factoid on which true fanboys and fangirls thrive.
Update: Ding! ~76 centimeters, or a mere 2'6. I suppose I'll just add this in, under "remarks".

:::What do you mean, "without providing a reason"? Read the edit summaries. You are right about one thing, though: it's pointless nitpickery. They made it look "about right" on screen, nothing more. &mdash; It's dot com 14:15, 30 Sep 2005 (UTC)
::::TBC probably just exaggurated the size of the laserdisc. Most people don't know how exactly big a laserdisc is, a lot of people have probably never seen one. They just know they're big. So standard caricature action comes into play when it gets cartoonised - people know they're big, so make it huge. 15:44, 30 Sep 2005 (UTC)

::::::You're both absolutely right, but I fail to see how that's in any way relevant. Obviously the disc was never actually intended for size comparison, but that's why this is the Wiki That Should Not Be. TBC make hilarious toons. That's what they do. Continuity, internal consistency, the fourth wall, none of these things matter to them, so long as they get the joke across. This wiki, in contrast, endeavors to turn the Homestarverse into some sort of rational, objective, well-documented world, and keep a straight face the whole while. We bring order to chaos, even when there's no good reason to do so. When TBC put a 'stashed Homestar just outside the frame, that's just a visual non sequitur. When this wiki gets light of said 'stashed Homestar, it wonders whether this might be the former King of Town, the one that's supposedly Marzipan's dad. When we realize there's no way the Gravy Train could fit a captain that's over half a million ladies tall, we fudge the numbers to <i>make</i> it work. So c'mon; just because this was clearly unintentional, doesn't mean it isn't worth noting. SB's bleeding tiny, he is. Originally someone said "The abbreviation for "Monsieur" is "M.", but it is misspelled as "Mssr." in the "French Countryside" e-mail." Then someone stuck below it that Mssr. actually stood for Monseigneur. These two stood for some time, uncombined, until someone combined them a few days ago, perhaps hastily: now it says that Monseigneur stands for Monsieur, which doesn't make much sense. So I hope to set this straight.

Monseigneur's usual abbreviation is actually Mgr. rather than Mssr. (take a look). Mssr. could be a misspelling of that, but it seems more likely to be a mistake based on the abbreviation Messrs. or Mssrs., short for Messieurs, the plural of Monsieur (whose abbreviation is indeed M.).

Incidentally, Monseigneur is an older word, for people of high rank -- I guess kind of like "milord" as compared to "mister." -- Minivet 11:12, 7 May 2005 (UTC)
**Comment All subs do ping, but this is the EXACT same ping as the one from Echoes. They to get the sound from somewhere, and if you listen to the song you'll be able to tell clearly that that's what it is. evin290
*Oh, please. There's no way to tell for sure. So...DELETED!
**I beg to disagree. If you actually listen to the song, there is a way to tell for sure. I've said this before but it's the exact same pitch and the same length of time. I bet you anything they ripped the ping noise from that song. If it sounded a little bit like it I would agree with you, but it's the exact same noise! --evin290 19:47, 17 Jan 2005 (MST) (PS - Sign your posts!)
***Okay, now that someone else notices it, I'm not so sure if I'm still declining it...edit: now that two people notice it, i'm definetely not. --super orange! 10:19, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)
*<s>Decline It is more likely that the sub ping is a generic sound effect and that TBC and Pink Floyd happened to grab the exact same wav file of a sub ping. This would be like saying that when Mario enters a hidden area in Super Mario 64, it's a reference to Quake because the sound effect is very similar, if not identical to, a teleporter sound from Quake. Kamek 09:15, 21 Jan 2005 (MST)</s>
**But that example isn't like saying that the ping is the same because that isn't the same exact sound. The ping is. It's a very unlikely chance that both TBC and Pink Floyd invented the same exact ping on the same exact note with the same amount of dissonance! (sp?) In my opinion that's just impossible! &rarr; evin290 12:46, 22 Jan 2005 (MST)
**And if you actually READ my above my comments, you'd notice Pink Floyd didn't download the ping(the song was made in 1971 for the lvoe fo god) the pianist of the group actually played the note through a leslie speaker cabinet, so it's not a coincidence. I think it should be a rule you can't decline it unless you've heard the song. --super orange! 23:51, 22 Jan 2005 (MST)
**I'm retracting my vote; the pings do sound strikingly similar. Kamek 03:50, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)
*Since I've been noticing a gigantic argument surrounding this particular fun fact, I'm going to propose a way to solve this.
:Now then, it seems that most of the individuals who are declining the fact are not very familiar with the song "Echoes." Since I personally don't believe in voting on a fun fact unless I actually know the details of the fact being disputed, I'm going to do something if others agree to this.
:I have an mp3 of "Echoes" (legally obtained from my personal copy of Meddle) on my hard drive, along with an mp3-to-wav converter and wav editing software. What I will do, if it's requested, is to take out an excerpt from the song "Echoes" (say, the first minute) and post it somewhere where everyone can hear it and draw their own conclusions.
**Definetely do it. I think a lot of people would realize that they are the same ping if it was easy to access.(but actually if you go here: http://www.pinkfloyd.co.uk/echoes/index.html it plays the said pinging sound as the website opens, so...) --super orange! 00:59, 23 Jan 2005 (MST)
***The reason I want to take this particular approach, however, is the fact that I think a lot of people won't believe it's a sample from the song unless I get a clip from the actual song up here. You know how Kamek up above just thought it could've been the "same wav file" that both TBC and Pink Floyd used (though I don't even think that sort of technology had even been thought up of yet in friggin' 1971). --TheNintenGenius 07:54, 23 Jan 2005 (MST)
*good' Thats good to know you actually listened to it before declining. Keep in mind, the sound quality could effect it. Someone should host an SWF of the echoes excerpt, so we can REALLY confirm this...
*Decline At first I thought they were the same sound, and they do sound pretty similar, but after a close comparison in Goldwave, it's pretty clear the Chaps are just using a generic ping that sounds similar to this note. I've made an audio file for comparison purposes; the first sound is from Echoes, the second is from Dreamail, and the third is the ping from Echoes mixed into the Dreamail clip. == The Magic Eye image ==
Google finds a couple of matching images if you search for "Magic Eye Saturn", however the one at this blog is the only one that is the same resolution as the one I pulled from the swf. I downloaded it, and it is bit-for-bit identical to the one in the toon - thus either TBC got it from this site, or they both got it (indirectly) from the same location elsewhere (from a site either not listed on Google Images or that doesn't call it "Saturn"). If it's the former, it begs the question: What were TBC doing on an alien conspiracy site? 06:34, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
:Searching for "Stereogram Saturn" finds this also, but though it's the same resolution, it's not bit-for-bit the same. We've seen Strong Bad in the Gremin in Dangeresque (A gremlin which was seemingly originally made up by Bubs I might add), yet Strong Bad says he doesn't own a car. I think the whole question of cars in Free Country USA is yet to be fully answered. If there was a simple answer, Bubs owned the Gremlin, incorperated it into his Halloween tale, loaned it to Strong Bad while making his movie, and ultimately lost it to his lackey today in a high stakes game of dominoes. 06:37, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
The Magic Eye image
So while it's the same picture, TBC didn't get it from here. 06:38, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
::Found a third version, on the official Magic Eye site, still not the same image that TBC used, but it tells me what book all three of these were scanned from, which is what I embarked on this to discover. 06:47, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
:::I did not mean to seem offended, because I wasn't. I was simply pointing out how my name is spelled and the fact that being an admin doesn't mean that I have final say-so on what goes in the articles. That said, I think a bear holding a shark could be thought of independently by several people, and I don't think that TBC were basing theirs on anything. &mdash; It's dot com 23:49, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
::::Oh good then ^^ I was afraid you were offended. You're right that the bear/shark will probably be seen as independent by most people, seeing as SG:C2C hasn't been seen by most people who watch Homestar Runner and it is a show that is no longer aired. And, being an English Major right now, I know the insane frustrations that comes with trying to figure out if the author intended something or not ... so what TBC mean to say in any of the stuff they make will be mysteries forever .... just like the legendary bear holding a shark!

Filmography?
If bear shark's a character of sorts, does it need a filmography? What's our "cutoff" when deciding wether or not to do filmography categories? Some pseudocharacters only appear once. Others appear a lot (like The Geddup Noise). I'm starting to really think that most PseudoCharacters like The_Stick, The Geddup Noise, Chairscoot and this one should have their own category (and for The geddup noise and chairscoot additions to the cast list of the toons/emails they are a part of). What I am proposing is no easy endeavour, and may need to be added to HRWiki:Projects. It is Strong Badia's "security countermethod", as Strong Bad puts it. STRONG BAD: {singing} I'm livin' the Strong Bad life, I take an email for my wife. I take an email for my wife. {brings up and reads the email}

<blockquote class="lappy email">
<div>subject: Hey Strongbad!</div>
Hey Strongbad,<br/>
Does Strong Badia have any Mysterious Myths or<br/>
Legendary Legends?<br/>
Cephas<br/>
Cornwall, CA<br/>
</blockquote>

{Strong Bad says "Strongbad" as "Two words. Two different words. That are not one word. That are 'Strong' and 'Bad'." and the name and location as "Cephas Cornwall of the Corn Army".}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Mysterious Myths or Legendary Legends? Isn't that a show on one of those channels up in the high hundreds? Ya know, like between the CG Dinosaur Channel and the Homes with Rollercoasters in Them Network? Well, if not, it should be! {makes a static-like sound} Come on! {makes it again, but this time the screen cuts to static} There we go.

{Cut to Strongbadia. Strong Bad carries a stick.}

STRONG BAD: Strongbadia. An idyllic fruit-opia. Rich in madeupstories and nottrueities. The nottrue-est of which...

{He prods The Tire with his stick. The Bear-Shark pops up. The Cheat runs by, panicked.}

THE CHEAT: {screams in The Cheat}

STRONG BAD: ...is the mighty bear holding a shark. {spooky music starts} More than a mere security counter-measure, its origins lie in the skies of old.

{Cut to a starry sky. Constellations of the Strongbadia flag's snake, the guy with the big knife, a hand giving the "OK" symbol, a board with nails in it, General Tso's chicken, a fish with an afro, and a marathon runner.}

STRONG BAD: The stars tell us that two of the seven elemental spirits of Strongbadia, the fish wearing a 'fro wig and the British distance runner, combined forces to defeat the others.

{The two constellations in question fight, and in the end, the runner holds the fish over his head.}

STRONG BAD: In paintball... or maybe Red Rover.

{Cut back to Strong Bad}

STRONG BAD: Then, through years of bad story-telling and the telephone game,

{Over the following, images of a satyr holding a fish, labeled "Wildernessman withst Sea-Beast", an elk with a fish in its antlers, and a bad drawing of the bear-shark on the fence appear.}

STRONG BAD: The mythic beast transformed into the bear holding a shark we know today. These ancient fence drawings show evidence of destroyed crops, stolen babies, and family bike-rides. {The screen pans over to show bad drawings of the same.} Or family pie-sitting contests. Bear-holding-a-shark fever gripped the nation.

{Cut to Bubs' Concession Stand, with various Bear-Shark paraphernelia.}

BUBS: {holding up an ice cream bar} We got Bear-holding-a-shark frozen delights, {looking at a pile of glasses near him} and these shot glasses are always popular with the kids. Oh, and my favorite: {reaches down and produces a necklace} these Bear-tooth-holding-a-shark-tooth necklaces!

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Of course, not everyone caught the fever.

{Music starts and Bubs dances. Then, cut to Strong Sad. The screen reads "Bear Holding a Shark Skeptic".}

STRONG SAD: I'm sure it's just a weather balloon or a foreign exchange student. These strange beasts just aren't real!

{Cut back to Strong Bad}

STRONG BAD: ...said the elephant-footed ghost man. And then, one day, the Bear-holding-a-shark got the break all made-up creatures dream of. {The screen becomes more and more blurry, and zooms further and further into Strong Bad, on each word in:} Blurry photographic evidence.

{Cut to Homestar Runner}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Now, I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I was in the woods, walking my dog Pom Pom. All of a sudden, he started growlin' and poopin' all over the place. And that's when I saw him.

{Static, then cut to a very fuzzy video reel of the Bear-Shark walking through the woods.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} A very. Scary. Monsterman.

{More spooky music}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Now that we've seen all the evidence, it's up to you to decide: {the following words appear on the screen} Mysterious Myth? Or Legendary Legend?

{Cut back to the Lappy}

STRONG BAD: {typing} Join us next week when we examine startling new evidence in the Biscuitdoughhandsman conspiracy.

{More spooky music. The Paper comes down.}

Remarks
* By viewing the flash file when the "ancient fence drawings" are going by, you can see the text, "by strong bab age 5" written in sloppy, childish handwriting outside of the typical viewing area.
* If you look at the Bear Holding a Shark's feet during the blurry footage, you can see that they are white with blue soles, indicating Homestar's footage is not quite authentic.
Adult Swim has since made a few ads featuring bears and sharks.
