'''TROGDOR!''' is a game based on the character of {{Film|Trogdor}} from the [[Strong Bad Email]] [[dragon]]. Trogdor squishes peasants and burninates cottages, all while avoiding knights and archers.
== Interludes ==
*There are a number of interludes after the following levels, similar to the ones between some levels of Pac Man and other arcade games:
**Level 4 — "stompin' good"
::''{A lone peasant is on the left side of the screen. Trogdor approaches from the right with two knights in hot pursuit. Trogdor stomps the peasant and then turns to burninate the knights as they retreat.}''
:*Level 8 — "fry 'em up Dan"
::''{Trogdor is in the middle of the screen. Four peasants approach one by one from the left, are burninated, and exit at the bottom of the screen.}''
:*Level 12 — "parade of trogdors"
::''{Nine Trogdors parade from right to left across the screen.}''
:*Level 16 — "dancin' time"
::''{Trogdor breaks it down while surrounded by ten burninated peasants and two knights.}''
:*Level 20 — "flex it, troggie"
::''{Trogdor flexes his beefy arm.}''
:*Level 24 — "peasant dominoes"
::''{Seven peasants are in a line. Trogdor burninates the peasant on the right. The peasant to the left of the burninated peasant catches fire as the first peasant falls over. This effect dominoes down the line of peasants until they all fall over. Trogdor hops up and down with glee.}''
:*Level 30 — "trogdor incognito"
::''{Two peasants approach each other from opposite sides of the screen and stop in the middle. The peasant on the left burninates the peasant on the right. The peasant on the right runs off. The peasant on the left hops up and down.}''
:*Level 34 — "go trogdor # 2!"
::''{Seven peasants are hopping up and down as two Trogdors race across the screen from left to right. Trogdor number two wins the race.}''
:*Level 38 — "forbidden peasant love"
::''{Two peasants enter the screen from the right with a heart between them. As they reach the middle of the screen, a blue knight runs on screen and takes the peasant on the left away. The heart disappears as the peasant that was on the right is left alone.}''
:*Level 42 — "2 cottages"
::''{Two cottages appear.}''
:*Level 46 — "a funny joke"
::''{A knight is minding his own business on the left side of the screen. Out of nowhere, an archer appears on the right side of the screen and begins to shoot five arrows off of the knight's helmet. The archer leaves and the knight turns to face the spot where he was to find that no one is there.}''
:*Level 50 — "smote that kerrek!"
::''{Trogdor is on screen with The Kerrek. The Kerrek bounces up and down a few times before Trogdor burninates him.}''
::'''STRONG BAD:''' Mmmm! Roast Kerrek!
:*Level 100 — ''{A tiny arcade game Strong Bad enters the screen from the right.}''
::'''STRONG BAD:''' What the? What am I doing in this game?

::''{Arcade Strong Bad moves his arms up and down as the text "congratulations. you got good score" appears}

::'''GAME:''' Congratulations. You got good score.

::'''perez'''

::''{A slightly different peasant appears}''

::'''hackworth'''

::''{An on-fire peasant appears}''

::''' 'the steve' '''

== Easter Eggs ==
[[Image:Togdor secret.png|thumb|"It's like... some dude's name. Flashing and stuff."]]
*Click and hold the "G" in the TROGDOR title to see some game hints.
**Don't let the peasants return to their cottages.
**Once you're burninating, you're invicible<!--sic-->.
**Burninated peasants set their cottages on fire.
**Get an extra man every 300 points.
**What's a treasure hut?!?!
**Secret Code?!?!
*On the hints screen, use the [[Wikipedia:Konami Code|Konami Code]] (up up down down left right left right B A, and then click the word "START") to start off with 30 lives.
*During the game, hit the "k" key to kick the game. This doesn't seem to give the player any advantage, but it does cause the machine to repeat the word "TROGDOR!" (a reference to [[Arcade Game]]).
*Certain huts contain gold. To get to them, Trogdor must burninate certain huts that block them.
**Some of these huts are:
**On level 7, the leftmost hut. Burninate the 4 huts in the way.
**On level 11, the lower right hut. Burninate the huts around it.
**On level 16, the upper left hut. Burninate the three huts in the way.
**On level 43, the rightmost hut. Burninate the hut above it.
*If more than 2,000 points are scored and the player gets a game over, [[Jonathan Howe]]'s name is shown flashing at the bottom of the game screen.
* On January 13th ( Trogdor's Birthday ) every time you go to the next level, it plays the game over music.

== Tips ==
* If a peasant makes it back into their cottage, a point is lost on the meter of peasants squished (unless the meter is already empty). This can be frustrating when some cottages are inaccessible. Make sure to not miss opportunities to squish peasants on these levels.
* Knights move in a pattern consisting of two moves (repeated over and over), completely ignoring Trogdor and the peasants. Their pattern gets "mirrored" when they hit a wall. Learning their patterns is one of the keys to doing well in the game.
* When Trogdor burninates peasants, they will run back to their cottage, which will burninate the cottage without need for direct burnination.
* Peasants will still come out of burninated cottages, though Trogdor can walk right through them. Knights and arrows can go through any cottage.
* Archers appear in much greater frequency when progressing farther in the game, but knights tend to be the main obstacle. Be sure to pay attention to the edges of the screen for archers. Arrows go at about the same speed as Trogdor.

== Fun Facts ==
===Trivia===
*Using a [http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/flash.html seek bar] suggests that this game was originally intended to have a high-score board. It actually does [http://www.homestarrunner.kitkorp.com/trogdor.html here]; unfortunately, this version has the old impossible level 27 (see below) and some bugs.
*Flex it Troggie, Forbidden Peasant Love, Smote That Kerrek, and Strong Bad's scene are the only three animations that use art that isn't used during gameplay.

===Remarks===
*In [[Peasant's Quest]], it shows that Trogdor is invincible, but he can die in this game.
*When an archer kills Trogdor, it shows Trogdor with several arrows stuck in him, even though the archer shot only one.
*When Trogdor gets sworded, the knight is still holding his sword and there is one sticking out of Trogdor.

===Goofs===
*Sometimes, the peasants and knights walk too far upwards and end up standing in the sky.
*Trogdor doesn't actually have to step on the peasants; just have them pass over Trogdor's sprite to do the job.
**This also works inversely, for being SWORDED!.
*When the G on the "TROGDOR!" title is held down, the word "invincible" is spelled incorrectly. This is in both versions.
*On the Wii version, when the Videlectrix logo appears, and "le presente" is under it, the latter phrase almost immediately shifts over to the left by a little bit.

===Fixed Goofs===
[[Image:TROGDOR!Level27.png|thumb|The infamous (original) level 27.]]
*Level 27 was well nigh impossible. The peasant-paths were accessible only for 2 of the 6 cottages, so for every peasant Trogdor squished there were 2 left to wander back into their cottages (diminishing the burninator meter). Meanwhile, the cottages themselves walled him in to a very small area, which made him a sitting duck for archers and knights. This level was "fixed" as of February 12, 2005, making it much simpler to beat. The change is documented in the [[FAQ]].

===Glitches===
*Pausing causes a purple ball to become visible on the screen.
*If Trogdor dies as soon as he achieves burnination status, he will come back to life with burnination, assuming the player has any mans left.
* When the game is paused while a cottage is burninating, it will continue to burninate until it is destroyed.
*Sometimes Trogdor will get "SWORDED" just because he is near the knight, not necessarily making contact with him.
*In the .swf version, right click and click play after the knight swords Trogdor on the last man to start at -1 mans, but click play again for game over.
*If the game is paused at the "LEVEL BEATEN" screen, Trogdor will be unmovable afterward and cannot unpause.
*If Trogdor is still burninating when he goes into a secret room, it will show the flame where he last was.
*For a very short moment after burnination stops (and the fire is no longer visible), Trogdor can still burninate cottages and peasants.
*Sometimes, while in a treasure hut, Trogdor will get randomly "SWORDED" but he won't lose any lives.
*If Trogdor burninates a peasant, then runs out of burnination and squishes that same peasant, then one of the cottages may spontaneously combust after a short time.
*Right before the "Stompin' Good" cutscene, the "It's Over!" screen flashes for a split second.
*If Trogdor gets SWORDED! right after he achieves burnination status, he will appear to be shooting fire out of his arm.
*Sometimes, the "Ohh... this is the best game I've ever played" quote and the "And the Trogdor comes in the niiiiight!!" quote play at the same time when you beat a level.

===Fixed Glitches===

*If the game is paused (using the space bar) when an archer is out pulling his bow, he will get stuck there until the end of the level, even if Trogdor dies there.
**As of February 12, 2005, this glitch has been fixed so that archers will disappear after unpausing the game and reappear as normal. However, the glitch is still present on the [http://www.homestarrunner.kitkorp.com/trogdor.html version that includes a high score list.]

===Real-World References===
*The [[Wikipedia:Arch Deluxe|Arch Deluxe]] was a McDonald's hamburger that was discontinued due to its lack of popularity.
*Jonathan Howe's name being an Easter egg is a reference to [[Wikipedia:Adventure (Atari 2600)|Adventure]] for the [[Wikipedia:Atari 2600|Atari 2600]]. When it was made, Atari intentionally kept game designers from achieving celebrity status (or getting a sniff of royalties/credit). In rebellion to this, [[Wikipedia:Warren Robinett|Warren Robinett]] hid his name inside what is commonly regarded as the first video game Easter egg. It was accessible only by picking up an invisible object, carrying it through a dragon-infested maze, and touching it to a blank wall. Doing this revealed a room with Warren's name plastered all over in rainbow colors.
*[[Wikipedia:Wordly Wise|Wordly Wise]] is a series of textbooks designed to build student's vocabulary. What this has to do with the [[Kerrek]] is unknown.
*When Trogdor dies, the replay button says "CHALLENGE AGAIN!". This references the ending of [[Wikipedia:Ghosts 'n Goblins|Ghosts 'n Goblins]], which says the same thing.
*"Fry 'em up Dan" is a direct quote from [[Wikipedia:Shel Silverstein|Shel Silverstein]]'s poem "Ladies First".
*The page title for the Viidelectrix version is a reference to the motto of ''[[Wikipedia:Klax (computer game)|Klax]]'', a video game from the '80s, whose motto was "It is the nineties and there is time for ... ''Klax''".

===Fast Forward===
*[[Dan]], from the caption "Fry 'em up Dan", is later used in [[Thy Dungeonman II]] and [[Peasant's Quest]], as well as [[Stinkoman 20X6]], and possibly [[Kid Speedy]]. This seems to have become a running gag with all of the new games.
*The odd pronunciation of Trogdor's name as "Trog'dor" would later be used in [[Happy Trogday]] for a [[20X6]] version of Trogdor.

===Strong Bad Quotes===
*Strong Bad occasionally makes comments during gameplay, which are listed below.

:'''Sworded:'''
:*"Aw, this is the worst game I've ever played!"
:* "Ugh, stupid arch-deluxe."
:*"Whoa! That's like the coolest secret thing I ever found in a video game, man. It's like... some dude's name. Flashing and stuff." ''{Jonathan Howe's name appears flashing}'' (Over 2000 points)

===Viidelectrix===
There are a few differences between the original version of the game and the Viidelectrix version.
*The Videlectrix credit screen reads, "Videlectrix le presente".
*The instructions read:
<blockquote>
{| border=0 cellspacing=0 cellpadding=0 style="text-align:center"
|-
| colspan="2" | Turn that remote sideways and use the D-pad.
|-
| colspan="2" |Stomp 10 peasants to achieve burnination.
|-
| colspan="2" |Burn all cottages to advance a level.
|-
| colspan="2" |Avoid knights and archers!
|-
| colspan="2" |Press 1 to pause.
|-
| colspan="2" |<span style="color:red">point at screen and press A to START</span>
|-
| style="text-align:left" | <small>Programmed by Jonathan Howe</small> || style="text-align:right" | <small>Designed by Mike and Matt</small>
|-
| colspan="2" |<small>Remote programming from Mario Klingemann & Jerason Banes</small>
|}
</blockquote>
*The "It's over!" screen reads "PRESS 1 TO CHALLENGE AGAIN!" in the lower right-hand corner.
*Unlike previous Viidelectrix games, TROGDOR! is controlled via the [[Wikipedia:D-pad|D-pad]] instead of the Wii-mote pointer. This is through an implementation of [[Wikipedia:WiiCade#The WiiCade API|the WiiCade API]], which would explain the additional programming credit to the developers.
*The Konami code cheat is enabled, but cannot be used on a Wii (no Wii-mote button is mapped to the "B" key, so the cheat cannot be completed).
*If playing on a PC, the "A" key now functions as the pause button.
*The Videlectrix logo and title screen can be skipped when the player presses the A button (or clicks).
Bear Holding a Shark

CompyError:

[[Image:bearholdingshark.png|thumb|Bear holding a shark.]]
[[Image:Sbemail145.PNG|thumb|A glimpse of the monsterman?]]
The '''[[Bear]] Holding a [[Sea Creatures#Fish|Shark]]''' (also spelled '''Bear-Shark''') is a wooden cut-out of a bear standing on its hind legs, holding a shark above its head. The cut-out lurks [[behind the fence]] of [[Strong Badia]].

The bear holding a shark is actually one of Strong Badia's "security counter-measures", as [[Strong Bad]] puts it; whenever [[The Cheat]] touches the [[Tire]], the bear holding a shark pops up after an electric shock from the tire. For reasons that are never really explained, The Cheat seems to have a strong phobia of bears holding sharks. The Bear-Shark also plays the part of "headhunters" on Strong Bad's [[Strong Bad's Mount RidesPlace! USA#Riverquest Safariventure|Riverquest Safariventure]]. It is "scared off" by firing a [[Wikipedia:Starting pistol|starting pistol]] in its general direction twice.

It has been featured in a documentary detailing its roots in [[History according to Strong Bad|Strong Badian lore]]. The myth/legend originated as a [[Strong Badia's Seven Elemental Spirits#A fish wearing an afro wig and A British distance runner|British distance runner holding a fish with a 'fro wig]], and supposedly through years of bad storytelling and the [[Wikipedia: Chinese whispers|telephone game]], evolved into the Bear-Shark we know today. Apparently, [[Homestar Runner|Homestar]] and his "dog" [[Pom Pom]] were walking in the woods when they saw (and caught footage of) the "very scary monster[[m'n]]", who suspiciously had white feet with blue soles. [[Strong Sad]] did not believe the myth/legend very much, and dismissed the bear holding a shark as either a weather balloon or a foreign exchange student.

In [[Fan Costumes '06]], two young women (referred to as "Ho-ties" by Strong Bad) are shown. One of them wears the Bear Holding a Shark t-shirt, with a frown on her face, while the other one is actually dressed as the bear holding a shark, with a full head bear mask, bear arms, and is holding a stuffed shark over her head. Strong Bad remarks, "I like the upgrade to Bear holding a Tiger Shark... Or was that just like... the only shark they had left at the aquarium gift shop." The Cheat is not scared of this Bear Holding a Shark.

The Bear holding a Shark has a small part in [[Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective]]. When travelling to Strong Borneo, it is activated by Dangeresque and Renaldo, but it stopped with the Nunchuk Gun. It was burninated along with the rest of Strong Badia in [[8-Bit Is Enough]], but was still left in one piece.
'''8-Bit is Enough''' is the fifth and final Episode of [[Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People]], Season One. Written by Chuck Jordan, Mike Stemmle, Mark Darin and [[The Brothers Chaps]]. Rated E10+ for [[alcohol]] and [[tobacco]] reference, comic mischief, mild cartoon violence, and mild suggestive themes by the ESRB. It was released December 15, 2008.

When Strong <strike>Bad's</strike> [[Blatant Lies|Sad's]] botched-up stunt damages the [[TROGDOR!|Trogdor Arcade Machine]], [[Trogdor]] makes his debut, doing what he does best: burninating the countryside! What's more, other 8-bit games are leaking into the real world, throwing [[Free Country, USA]] into chaos! Only [[Strong Bad|High Lord Awesome]] can take back the night and conquer this scorching menace, once and for all! Only question is: Anybody know how to kill a dragon?

'''STRONG BAD:''' Ha-ha! Missed me! ''{Puts down the controller, squints his eyes}'' Aw, crapsicles.

''{ Stinkoman pops up from behind the veiwer's left side of the couch, Strong Bad looks at him}''

'''STINKOMAN:''' Ha ha ha ha! ''{Stinkoman points at Strong Bad}'' One day you'll get your baby turn! ''{Cut to a close up of Stinkoman}'' For babies! ''{The camera zooms in closer and angles in on Stinkoman}'' Who have a turn!

''{Cut back to couch. Strong Bad is still squinting his eyes.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{Tilts his head down}'' Okay! Man, ''{Tilts his head up}'' shut up!

'''STINKOMAN:''' ''{Drops back down and reappears on the other side of the couch, with his shoulders shrugging, Strong Bad looks at him}'' YOU shut up! You're dumb! ''{Stinkoman lowers his shoulders. Strong Bad lowers his eyelids.}'' And your head is wide ''{Stinkoman makes a distance with his hands.}'' like the river! ''{Points at Strong Bad. Strong Bad looks away from him, eyelids still lowered}'' You have the river head! ''{While laughing, he appears on the left side of the couch, then the top of the screen, then the bottom right corner of the screen, and last the bottom-left-center corner of the screen.}'' Ha ha ha ha!

''{The 8-Bit Is Enough logo appears on a swirling kamikaze background with a shing sound effect. An orchestra-themed music plays. Strong Bad and Stinkoman collide in the center of the screen, replacing the logo with "STRONG BAD'S COOL GAME FOR ATTRACTIVE PEOPLE" and with "New episode every month!" in yellow in Joystix as in a black strip in the same swirling kamikaze background. The screen goes black. Thunder and brief glimpses reveal Trogdor. Trogdor roars. The Trogdor theme from the Peasant's Quest plays. There is then a cut to Stinkoman and Trogdor on the couch. Trogdor is holding the Fun Machine controller in his beefy arm. Stinkoman is laughing inaudibly, and Trogdor is roaring. There is a pan left, to see Strong Bad.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Uh, anybody know how to kill a dragon?

==Fun Facts==
===Explanations===
*[[Wikipedia:Shovelware|Shovelware]] is low quality, quickly ported or programed computer programs, usually done to capitalize on a trend or make a quick profit.
*In the intro, Strong Sad says that the arcade game's fan needs to be serviced, and Strong Bad asks where he can find any fan service. [[Wikipedia:Fanservice|Fanservice]] is content added mainly to please the fans. It is quite appropriate, then, that Trogdor starts to break out of the arcade immediately after Strong Bad's question.
*"Yatta!" is a Japanese word which means "I did it!", or "All right!" in English.
*Placing a pineapple slice in gelatin will cause the gelatin to dissolve.

===Trivia===
*This is the only episode to lack [[Pom Pom]]; since [[Homsar]] is also missing, this means that this episode has the fewest main characters at 10; all of the others had 11 or 12.
*This and [[Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective]] are the only two episodes to happen on the same day.
**Despite this, there is a calendar change between the episodes.
***This is because the events in the movie Dangeresque 3 take place on the day it was recorded, and not the day it was shown to the group, In fact in the opening when Strong Bad walks from the Lappy to the basement for the screening the calender is missing from the wall.

===Remarks===
*In the preview for this episode, Strong Bad has a black outline, and his arms look oddly deformed for some reason.
*Even in extended play, you cannot go outside with a costume in this episode.
**This is likely because you will become Rather Dashing if you visit Peasantry in Extended Play.
*When the difficulty slider is set to "high" but the lever hasn't been pulled to make Professor Pineapple shoot fruit in Gel-Arshie's Pro Fruitboarder, there is a steady stream of pineapple slices, but no other changes to the game. However, when both are set, there is an extremely high amount of fruit even discounting the fruit Professor Pineapple shoots.
*If you click the main menu button near the peasents running around at the inn they turn around and look at you.

===Goofs===
*During the credits, when RoboKingofTown is shown, he is not wearing the sunglasses he wore earlier in the game.
*Also during the credits, [[Nebulon]] is not shown even though the Space Clown and Algebraic Expression are.

===Glitches===
*The costume items from Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective, excluding the Dangeresque Glasses, are not available in the Snap Shak in the PC version, apparently due to a writing error in Episode 4.

===Inside References===
*Trogdor has previously appeared in Free Country USA in [[Trogday 08]].
*Stinkoman and Strong Bad previously met in the email [[alternate universe]] and Stinkoman also previously appeared in Free Country USA in [[3 Times Halloween Funjob]].
**Stinkoman also insulted Strong Bad in [[alternate universe]], saying he has a big nose.
*The introductory narration is similar to the one used in [[fingers]]. The announcer of said introduction also appeared in the same email.
**Homestar also mispronounced "Previously" in [[DNA Evidence]].
*When Strong Bad goes through a video game portal, his last two transformations are [[Atari Strong Bad]] and [[Secret Collect.]] Strong Bad, respectively.
*Strong Bad talking about the [[Fluffy Puff Jela-Ton]] he won during the Race to the End of the Race is a reference to [[Homestar Ruiner]].
*[[Mr. Shmallow]] can be seen on the Pineapple Gun.
*Upon entering the Peasantry area, Strong Bad will remark on the game's status as "the best-selling video computer TV game of all time", as it was previously referred to as in [[Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer]].
**Likewise, the music from the trailer plays as background music in Peasantry, and Rather Dashing speaks exactly as he does in the trailer.
*The [[wikipedia:Pitfall!|Pitfall!]] Scorpions from [[In Search of the Yello Dello]] return in Halfathlon.
*In addition to the four historical figures, the puzzle wheel in the Videlectrix Mainframe depicts Trogdor, the [[Jhonka]], [[Thy Dungeonman (character)|Thy Dungeonman]], and [[Kid Speedy]].
*The [[Taranchula]] standee that Strong Bad "fights" in [[Strong Badia the Free]] returns, but without the fire and ice heads.
*The loading screen for the first-person segment reads "Get [[SBLOUNSKCHED]]!", a reference to [[candy product]].
*In Extended Play, when trying to get ye flask, the text on the bottom reads "[[seriously]], get ye flask".
*When Chorch gets angry, he says he will make Stinkoman wish he was never born. This phrase was mentioned in Chorch's description in the [[Stinkomanual]].
*Clicking on the pennants in Extended Play will show a credits sequence that mentions [[Cherry Greg]], [[A. Chimendez]], [[Lem Sportsinterviews|"Lem" Sportsinterviews]], [[Douglas]], [[Levert Burtmore]], [[The Deke]], and [[Dennis]], along with [[Strong Sad]] and [[The Cheat]].
*The "ultimate" form of Strong Bad was mentoned numerous times during the production of SBCG4AP, namely the [[SBCG4AP Advertisement]] and the [[SBCG4AP Dev Blog]]. Strong Bad complained numerous time about [[Telltale Games]] not using the "concept art", explaining Strong Bad's remark of "Whoa! They ''finally'' listened to me!"
**The concept art appears again during and after the credits.
*The final cutscene has an instance of [[couch mumbling]]. The game name he mumbles is [[Rhinofeeder]], which he also mumbled in the beginning of [[Homestar Ruiner]].
*Homestar previously ate coins (albeit more deliberately) in [[do over]].
*Homestar mentions his [[hremail]]s in one of the hints he gives.
*When Strong Bad first enters Stinkoman 20X6, he says, "Now I want to be the guy too.", paraphrasing [[1-Up]]'s line in [[japanese cartoon]]: "Everybody says you're the guy. But I wanna be the guy too!"
*When Strong Bad collects the scorpion food, he sings "Puttin' scorpion food in my pants; hope I don't get stung!", echoing his singing "Puttin' bat hutches in my pants; hope I don't get bit!" in [[Baddest of the Bands]].
*Another nod to Baddest of the Bands comes when the Limozeen [[The Space Machine|Space Machine]] picks up "Marzy-Kong" and [[Larry]] exclaims, "Oh, crap! It's that crazy lady from the Battle of the Bands!!"
*On the title screen and during the credits, the music is an instrumental version of [[Please Stop Trying To Handle My Style]].

===Real-World References===
*The title is a reference to [[Wikipedia:Eight Is Enough|Eight Is Enough]], a television comedy-drama from the late 1970s and early '80s.
*Lady Crate Ape is a take off of [[Wikipedia:Donkey Kong (video game)|Donkey Kong]], possibly, in the same trend as [[Wikipedia:Ms_pacman |Ms. Pacman]].
**When Marzipan is possessed by the spirit of the game, her expression is similar to Kong's expression on the original video game cabinet. Strong Bad also frequently refers to her as "Marzy-Kong".
**The way the portions of the scaffolding are put together and fall down when she stomps on the roof mimics the way the game begins in most versions, minus the part where the entire thing collapses.
*Strong Bad complains about taking a [[Wikipedia:The Color Purple|''The Color Purple'']] personality quiz when answering an email.
*Strong Bad climbing the vine with the smiling cloud on the Awesomeness screen is modeled after [[Wikipedia:Super Mario Bros. 2|Super Mario Bros. 2]]
**Similarly, the bushes with eyes in the intro screen are another reference to the ''[[Mario]]'' series.
**When Strong Bad first enters Peasantry, he assumes hitting his head on things will make coins come out, a reference to the theme of making coins come out of blocks by jumping into them in said series.
***This could also refer to the act of somersalting into trees to get various objects in [[The Legend of Zelda]] series, also by [[Nintendo]].
**The music and appearance of the ghosts haunting the House of Strong (particularly the ghosts flying out the front when outside) is reminiscent of the ghost houses in [[Wikipedia:Super Mario World|Super Mario World]].
*Some of the games depicted on the Awesomeness screen are [[Wikipedia:Pong|Pong]], [[Wikipedia:Tetris|Tetris]], and [[Wikipedia:Asteroids (video game)|Asteroids]].
*At one point, Gel-Arshie says "Hi! I'm Gel-Arshie!" in exactly the same way Hugh Bliss says his catchphrase "Hi! I'm Hugh Bliss!" in [[Wikipedia:Sam And Max Season One|Sam And Max Season One]]
*"The ladder is a lie" may be a reference to [[Wikipedia:Portal (video game)|Portal]], where the phrase "the cake is a lie" is written all around the testing facility.
*Homestar mentions that he used his lucky quarter to beat [[Wikipedia:Street Fighter|Street Masher]], [[Wikipedia:Street Fighter 2|Street Masher 2]], and [[Wikipedia:Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo|Street Masher 2: Slightly Different Costumes Edition]]; these games seem to be based on the [[Street Fighter]] series, and indeed, ''Street Fighter II'' was infamous for having many minor variations before ''Street Fighter III'' came out.
*Homestar will, at one point, pop up and say "Hey! Listen!" He does so in the same fashion as Navi in [[Wikipedia:The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time|The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time]].
*If Strong Bad shoots at a ghost in The Field and misses, The Cheat pops up to laugh at him. This is similar to [[Wikipedia:Duck Hunt|Duck Hunt]], where the player's hunting dog does the same.
*Strong Sad saying "You shall not pass!" is a reference to Gandalf's confrontation with the Balrog in [[Wikipedia:The Lord of the Rings|Fellowship of the Ring]].
*Also, Strong Sad's line "Abandon all hope, ye who enter" is a reference to what is written above the entrance to the gates of Hell in Dante's epic poem [[Wikipedia:Divine_Comedy|The Divine Comedy]].
*The first person section is a reference to [[Wikipedia:Wolfenstein 3D|Wolfenstein 3D]] by iD Software; the King of Town's appearance and death speech are references to that game's depiction of Hitler.
**In addition, the name of the castle where this takes place is "Castle Poopenstein".
**When switching to first person perspective, Strong Bad says "Quake and fear". [[Wikipedia:Quake|Quake]] and [[Wikipedia:F.E.A.R.|F.E.A.R.]] are two popular first person shooters.
* The show that Strong Bad says on TV, "Videlectrix Saturday Mornideo Games", refers to the Saturday Morning cartoon series ''[[Wikipedia:Saturday Supercade|Saturday Supercade]]'' which aired on [[Wikipedia:CBS|CBS]] from 1983 to 1985.
*The words "ALL WORK AND NO FRUIT MAKES GEL-ARSHIE A DULL BOY" that fill up the TV screen after beating the Gel-Arshie game with the kill screen is a reference to the movie ''[[Wikipedia:The Shining (film)|The Shining]]''.
*Strong Bad looking through the TrogSword in 20X6 is a reference to ''[[Wikipedia:Thundercats|Thundercats]]'', in particular Lion-O's transformation sequence. He also makes a reference to [[Wikipedia:He-Man|He-Man]] during this sequence.
*Several historical figures appear in the "Spirit of '76" game, including [[Wikipedia:John Hancock|John Hancock]], [[Wikipedia:Benjamin Franklin|Benjamin Franklin]], [[Wikipedia:Samuel Adams|Samuel Adams]], and [[Wikipedia:Paul Revere|Paul Revere]]. All figure significantly in the American Revolution.
**Samuel Adams saying he "probably invented beer" refers to the [[Wikipedia:Boston Beer Company|Samuel Adams]] brand of beer.
**When you give him the item, John Hancock says to make sure your family is insured, a reference to the [[Wikipedia:John Hancock Insurance|John Hancock Insurance]] company.
*Interacting with the mirror in the bathroom will make Strong Bad reference the [[Wikipedia:Bloody Mary (folklore)|Bloody Mary legend]].
*The Gel-Arshie portion of the game is likely a reference to [[Wikipedia:Cool Spot|Cool Spot]], a 1993 product placement game for 7-Up that featured its red mascot on a surf board.
*After using Gel-Arshie on the lava pit in Halfathalon, he says the line "What's in the box?", a reference to the movie ''[[Wikipedia:Seven (film)|Se7en]]''.
*The "Bloodstone" in Trogdor's Lair is a reference to the game [[Wikipedia:Return to Krondor|Return to Krondor]], in which there is a "Nightstone" that casts everything in red light and reveals a hidden place, which holds the secret to destroying your enemy forever.
*Strong Bad's remark about the peasants starting a commune is a reference to [[Monty Python|''Monty Python and the Holy Grail'']], specifically the scene in which Dennis explains that he and his fellow peasants are an [[wikipedia:Anarcho-syndicalism|anarcho-syndicalist]] commune.
*When Strong Mad is in Halfathalon, he will exclaim "[[Wikipedia:Glasnost|GLASNOST]]! [[Wikipedia:Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn|SOLZHENITSYN]]!"
**When Strong Bad responds, his pronunciation of "Puttin'" likely refers to Russian president, [[Wikipedia:Vladamir Putin|Vladamir Putin]].
**"Zhivago" is a reference to [[wikipedia:Doctor Zhivago|Doctor Zhivago]].
*When Strong Bad gives the trophy to Strong Mad, he says "ich bin ein donut". This is an obvious variant of [[Wikipedia:Ich bin ein Berliner|Ich bin ein Berliner]]. Furthermore, it is a play on the urban legend that the [[German]] phrase means "I am a jelly donut."
*When entering Peasantry from the Videlectrix Mainframe any time after solving the code wheel, Strong Bad says, "Load p-quest comma eight comma one" referencing LOAD“FILE”,8,1 the command needed to load games and programs into many [[Wikipedia:Commodore International|Commodore]] computers.
*When summoning Boxer Joe, Strong Bad sometimes says "Round 1, FIGHT!" the same way Shao Kahn does in Mortal Kombat.
*When Strong Bad finally uses the performing bear, he shouts "I choose you." This is a clear reference to [[Pokémon]].
*In the game's music files, Halfathlon is referred to as [[Wikipedia:Summer Games|Summer Games]].
*"The Videlectrix Halfathalon" title mimics the similarly named The Activision Decathalon.
*The box art for Mista Fixit is modeled after the "album cover" boxes of early [[Wikipedia:Electronic Arts|Electronic Arts]], complete with an incorporation of the company's logo into the artwork.
* Enter the photo booth, interact with the top of the light closest to The Cheat. After the pointer changes shape, keep holding down the interaction button and drag the shirt onto Strong Bad to wear it.
** The shirt can also be obtained by walking off the right side of the photo booth three times, causing Strong Bad to walk under the floor. When he walks directly under the door and out of view, a sound will play, and he'll be wearing the shirt when he comes back into view.
*After prank calling everybody with Homestar's cell phone, you can prank call Homsar.

== Fun Facts ==
===Explanations===
*When digging for the Teen Girl Squad idea at the Track, Strong Bad says "Xie xie!" (rendered as "Hsieh hsieh!" by the game's subtitles). This is Mandarin ([[Wikipedia:Simplified Chinese character|simplified Chinese characters]]: 谢谢, [[Wikipedia:Traditional Chinese character|traditional Chinese characters]]: 謝謝) for "Thank you!"
*A [[Wikipedia:Sadie Hawkins dance|Sadie Hawkins dance]] (mentioned by Strong Bad after he trims the hedge in The Field) is a dance where females invite male dates, rather than the other way around.

=== Trivia ===
*The Wii Title ID is WBXx, where x is the region code (E for United States, P for Europe).
*One of the entries in the "Special Thanks" in the game's end credits is for this wiki itself.
*When Strong Sad and Strong Bad discuss Strong Sad's asthma, Strong Bad says "Sucks to your Az-mar." This is a line from the novel [[Lord of the Flies]].

=== Remarks ===
*This is one of the few times a character mentions [[Free Country, USA]]. The last time this occurred was when Strong Bad said it in [[flashback]].
*An attempt to use the microwave in-game will result in a note that the door is stuck shut. However, at a certain point in the game, Homestar will open it without any problem--even while Strong Bad is in the middle of saying it's stuck shut.
*Throughout the game, [[The Paper]] accompanies as part of the in-game menu rather than [[New Paper]].
*A different font is used for the [[Lappy 486]] rather than its regular [[Fonts|font]], Glitch0.

=== Goofs ===
*At the non-garden party, the rollover for Marzipan and Homestar is spelled "MARZIPAN & HOMSETAR". This goof is only present in the Wii version.
*In Strong Bad's photo booth there is a clickable area above the camera. Clicking here turns the cursor into the Max shirt from the Telltale store (also occasionally chosen at random as Young Sam's costume in Sam and Max Episode 202: Moai Better Blues and Episode 204: Chariots of the Dogs). However, when put on Strong Bad, the shirt is yellow and has a picture of a dog on it.
*The subtitles are incorrect in several places
**When kicking the Cheat into the dryer, one of the subtitles misspells ''Pixelated'' as ''Pix'''i'''lated''.
**Homestar Runner sings "Do do-do do dooo dooo, do do-do do dooo" but the subtitles say "Do do-do do dooo dooo, do do-do do dooo dooo".
**While Strong Bad says "some French guy said I should beat you up", the subtitles quote him as saying "some French guy said that I should beat you up".
**While most abbreviations have an apostrophe, no apostrophe is transcribed when Homestar says "puddin sack".
** After Strong Bad beats Coach Z's time in the Race to the End of the Race, he says that, "Pom Pom's time is better than you'll ever do," but is subtitled as, "Pom Pom's time is better than you'll ever EVER do."
**In several responses from the Drive-Thru Whale, the "O" in "Blubb-O's" is lowercase.
**When the Drive-Thru Whale says "'Nurer' spelled backwards is 'rerun.'" the word "in" is transcribed rather than "is".
**During Marzipan's answering machine message, the word "polluted" is misspelled as "poluted" in the subtitles.
**When Strong Bad finds the last page of the Snake Boxer V manual, the subtitles refer to the "SECRET F'''RO'''BIDDEN LEVEL'''.
**In one of the possible insults Strong Bad can say to Bubs, the word "arm" is misspelled as "armed."
**In viewing the sign on Bubs' Concession Stand, Strong Bad begins a sentence with "If I ever had any money" but the subtitles start it with "And if I ever had any money".
**During one comment about the banner on Marzipan's gazebo, Strong Bad says "in which case" but the word "which" was left out in the subtitles.
**As Strong Bad comments that Snake Boxer 5 is "so much better than the unfortunate Snake Boxer 4: Lady Snake Parade" there is an unnecessary comma after the word "unfortunate".
**One of Bubs' lines advertising his stand has the subtitles read "Everybody wanna to buy something" for "Everybody wanna buy something".
**After Pom Pom cleans out his locker, Strong Bad will comment that Coach Z was serious when he told Pom Pom to clean out his locker, only the subtitles read "clear out his locker".
*Marzipan's mouth occasionally faces the wrong side of her head (away from Strong Bad and the direction she is facing) during conversations.
*If Marzipan's hedge is trimmed while she's inside after seeing the Homestar float ruined, she will speak to Strong Bad about the hedge but won't be there.
*if you click the calendar in Extended Play, Strong Bad says that it's "the day [he gets that] stupid party out of [his] house" when the party isn't even there.

=== Glitches ===
[[Image:HomestarRuinerBlueWallBug.jpg|thumb|Tech Shirt Glitch.]]
*If the subtitles are turned off, they will be erroneously enabled when Strong Bad checks his email. They will remain enabled afterwards until Strong Bad leaves his house, although the ''Settings'' screen will show them as '''Off'''. Toggling them on and off again under the ''Settings'' will rectify the problem.
*While wearing the tech shirt near Strong Bad's house, in extended play, geometry issues will occur, resulting in what looks like a blue wall shooting out from the shirt. This also occurs in other locations in the game.
*If the Luxa Lounger is extended (when it is unextended) and the radio set to the Latin music in Extended Play, the conga line will re-form even though it won't move.
**When the Luxa Lounger is set back the conga line will disappear, but Homestar, Marzipan, Coach Z, Bubs and the King of Town will appear where they were when the party was still going on. These characters cannot be selected, and Strong Bad can walk right through them.
*As Strong Bad wears the Homestar head, it is sometimes invisible, so you see Strong Bad grab nothing.

==== Wii Version ====
*If widescreen mode is turned on, talking to Coach Z in extended play results in the game freezing, requiring a hard reset. In addition, many of the cut scenes that play throughout the game will sometimes freeze, also requiring a hard reset.
*After Strong Bad plays [[Snake Boxer 5]], the background changes from the TV to the Computer Room before resuming Strong Bad's Standing-up animation.
*If the game is saved while in the photo booth while wearing a shirt and then immediately turned off, then when you start only the collar of the shirt will be visible.
*If you repeatedly press B during the ending cutscene/credits, you will teleport to the Computer Room. You can move the pointer during this period, but you cannot do anything and must reset.
*While the people are throwing a party at Strong Bad's house, you can go through The King of Town's body while he's eating [[pizza]]. If you try to take a picture of Strong Bad through the King of Town's body, the game will freeze, forcing you to do a hard reset.
*When the King of Town is presenting the trophy to Strong Bad after winning the race, the game will freeze, forcing the player to do a hard reset. This only occurs in widescreen.
*If you delete all the emails and then undelete them, the first email (the one Strong Bad is answering in the game) will not be shown in the inbox and the trash will still indicate that there is an email in there even when it is empty. This is solved by restarting the game.

==== PC Version ====
*Occasionally Homestar, Marzipan, Bubs, Coach Z, Strong Mad, Strong Sad or Strong Bad's eyes are not visible upon entering an area. The same may also occur with Strong Mad and Marzipan's mouth.
*Sometimes, when you start up the game, part of it it will go offscreen and reappear on the screens other side (e.g. the menu's top part being on the bottom of the screen and the bottom of the menu on the top screen portion.)

=== Inside References ===
*Homestar previously called his butt a "[[Glossary#T|twees]]" in [[lady fan]]. Also, Strong Bad mentions himself being a pain in the twees while looking at the "Nuisance Trophy".
*After putting on the Championship belt, Strong Bad will mention the Sizzle Weight belt and the Jack-Em Up Kid, which is a reference to the email [[yes, wrestling]].
__FORCETOC__
==Transcript==

'''STRONG BAD:''' Checkin' emails for a livin', a livin'. I'm checkin' emails for life. ''{begins reading}''

<blockquote class="short compy email">
Dear Strong Bad,<br>
I wonder what Pom Pom's family looks<br>
like.<br>
Jaro from Podunk</blockquote>

'''STRONG BAD:''' Er, sounds like a pretty cool guy. ''{typing}'' Well, Jaro, I myself have never seen Pom Pom's family, but I'm sure that they bear the same resemblence <!--[sic]--> to Pom Pom that my family bears to me.

''{A postcard with [[The Brothers Strong|all three brothers Strong]] appears. It reads "Birds of a Feather." It stays onscreen for a moment as drums play in the background, and then vanishes.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' So let's see if we can't theorize what his kinsfolk might look like. ''{says "like" as "a-like"}''

''{Cut to a solid white screen. Pom Pom moves across and stops at the left-hand side.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover during the entire scene}'' Okay, Pom Pom has got an orange head, so I'm sure his brother's head would look like a bulldog.

''{A bulldog's head appears.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' And he'd have a horse leg for a body... and leg.

''{A horse leg appears, and the camera scrolls up to show that it's attached to the bulldog head directly.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' And he'd have boxing gloves for hands&mdash;

''{Skinny Strong Bad-like arms appear on either side of the bulldog.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;just like all normal people do.

''{The arms swing.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Eh, his name is probably "Stom Stom,"&mdash;

''{Camera zooms in on the character, and "STOM STOM" appears at the bottom of the screen.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;I'm thinkin'. Ooh, another sibling might very well be a pair of headphones&mdash;

''{Stom Stom vanishes, and a pair of headphones takes his place.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;with a floaty face inside.

''{Arms, legs, a floating face, and a cord all appear around the headphones.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' You know,&mdash;

''{The screen splits to show Pom Pom bobbing in The Field on the right-hand side.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;because Pom Pom floats a little... bit, when he walks.

''{Pom Pom walks off stage left. The split vanishes with him.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' That must be his little sister: "Stella Do."

''{The words "Stella Do" appear on the bottom of the screen, and Stella waves her arms.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh, and Pom Pom talks in bubbles, right?

''{Pom Pom replaces Stella.}''

'''POM POM:''' ''{bubbles}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' So, naturally, his parents would be a file cabinet.

''{A file cabinet appears for a moment. Then it shifts to The Field, where Stella Do, Stom Stom, the File Cabinet, and Pom Pom all stand together. Stom Stom rocks his upper body back and forth a few times, and Stella bobs up and down.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Man, that's a good-looking family right there. They could be one of those families on the cover of board games that look ''way'' too enthusiastic about playing a board game together.

''{The screen shifts to static for a moment, and then cuts to the words "Get Ready!!!"}''

'''UNSEEN AUDIENCE:''' Get ready!!!

''{A box for "Jurvy-Skat" appears with a pop. Pom Pom and his made-up family appear on the cover.}''

'''ANNOUNCER:''' Ah-ha-ha, that's right! Get ready for Jurvy-Skat, the classic game of "Oh, no you don't!"

''{The camera shows a closeup of two piles of cards, a red pile labeled "Jurvy" next to the words "Pick One" and a yellow pile labeled "Skat" next to the words "Don't Pick One." Pom Pom's hand grabs a "Jurvy" card.}''

'''ANNOUNCER:''' Pick a card!

''{Pom Pom's hand reaches for a "Skat" card, but he doesn't take it.}''

'''ANNOUNCER:''' Don't pick a card! Pick a card ''now''!

''{Pom Pom's hand grabs a "Jurvy." Zoom out to shot the whole family around the board game, with Stom Stom hitting the table over and over.}''

'''ANNOUNCER:''' Jurvy-Skat from Boardelectrix is great for ages two to filing cabinet!

''{Stom Stom hits Pom Pom in the back of the head. Pom Pom angrily attacks him and the whole family joins in on the fight. Cut to the box again.}''

'''ANNOUNCER:''' Jurvy-Skat from Boardelectrix! Goodtime family fun!

''{As these last three words are said, the words "Goodtime Family Fun" appear at the bottom of the screen.}''

'''ANNOUNCER:''' ''{quietly}'' Hey, that's pretty good. ''Goodtime family fun''. You&mdash; w&mdash; we should trademark that.

''{A "TM" appears next to the words with a chime. Cut back to the Compy}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' I wish they'd invite me over for some of that action. Order a pizza, rent a movie, play some game with a million pieces that takes three hours just to set up only to find out that you're missing the bathtub. Now ''that'' is some Goodtime Family Fun&trade;. ''{clears screen}'' I wonder if Pom Pom would be cool if I started putting the moves on Stella Do. She's got some hotness methinks. That floaty face. ''{not typed}'' Ooh! ''{typing}'' Oh, wait. She's just hypothetical. Why are all the best girls hypothetical these days? Lemme tell ya, the hypothetical make-out session...not gonna cut it.

''{[[The Paper]] comes down.}''

==Easter Eggs==
*Find the hidden Strong Bad head for a scene with Strong Bad and Stella Do in The Field.
:'''STRONG BAD:''' So, Stella Do, wanna come over to my place tonight?
:''{Pom Pom's silhouette bounces on from stage left.}''
:'''STRONG BAD:''' I could maybe plug you into my record player...
:'''POM POM:''' ''{bubbles angrily}''
:'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh! Pom Pom! Uh, look man, it's strictly hypothetical between us, I swear! I never touched her floaty face!
===Remarks===
*[[General and Fraulein Pom Pom|Pom Pom's parents]] were seen in [[Pom Pom, Too]], but there they were simply differently-colored [[Poms]]. Strong Bad also wrote them a letter in [[pom pom]].

===Goofs===
*The title of this email is misspelled. It should be "Family Resembl'''a'''nce". Likewise, Strong Bad misspells the word in his reply.

===Inside References===
*"Jaro" is the name of an [[Stinkoman 20X6 Enemies and Items|enemy]] in the game [[Stinkoman 20X6]].
===Real-World References===
*The game with the missing bathtub is [http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=browse&product_id=9461 Mouse Trap], a game that has many pieces (including a bathtub) and takes a long time to set up.
<!-- "Podunk" is simply a word for a backwater town, and is not a reference to anything specific. -->
===Fast Forward===
*[[Boardelectrix]] later appeared on the site making "[[The Show|THE SHOW]]! STUPID HOME EDITION!" in [[geddup noise]].
*In [[Homestar Ruiner]], Homestar will occasionally say, "Look at me! Don't look at me! Look at me now!""

=== Trivia ===

=== Remarks ===

=== Goofs ===

=== Glitches ===

==== Wii Version ====

==== PC Version ====

CompyError:

== Typo? ==

I don't have the DVD - is 'Videro Games' the title of this email, or is this a typo? The word 'Videro' doesn't appear anywhere in the email, unless the transcript is wrong. -- [[User:Mithent|Mithent]] 10:13, 13 Nov 2004 (MST)

:It's definitely the title of the email. If you'd like proof, I can give you a screenshot of the title screen. It was probably named Videro Games because TBC already HAD an email named video games. --[[User:TheNintenGenius|TheNintenGenius]] 13:25, 13 Nov 2004 (MST)

::Ah, okay, just wondered. I believe you! -- [[User:Mithent|Mithent]] 04:33, 14 Nov 2004 (MST)

== CONGRATURATION ==

:''"CONGRATURATION" might be a sly reference to the NES game 1942, known for being almost unbearably hard and only having the word "CONGRATULATION" as its ending screen.''

I don't think it's a reference to any specific game (more than one game is like that), and there are definitely games that spelled it "CONGRATURATION" or "CONGRATURATIONS". The Japanese do not distinguish between L and R, so they often misspell English words that use them, usually by substituting R's for L's, but it happens the other way around as well. - [[User:furrykef|furrykef]]

:While this is true, 1942 is the only specific game I can think of that has an ending screen anywhere near what Strong Bad describes in the email, which is the only reason I think it might be a more specific reference. Plus, TBC are pretty big Nintendo fans anyway, so it makes sense. --[[User:TheNintenGenius|TheNintenGenius]] 10:11, 15 Nov 2004 (MST)
:I dissagree. Some other games have that type of screen, such as "Sim Theme Park." {{User:Bubsty/sig}} 01:45, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)
:It says "Congraturation!" when you beat P.O.W.: Prisoner of War. That's actually the entire ending. --[[User:Chest Rockwell|Chest Rockwell]] 00:45, 8 Feb 2006 (EST)

== Melee ==

The Fun Facts used to have this fact:

*"Melee" is probably a reference to the 2001 Nintendo GameCube game Super Smash Brothers Melee.

It was later BALEETED!

I may not be the most knowledgeable person in the world, but I think "melee" is a rather arcane word, and not very many people or video games use it. I honestly think "melee" has got to be a reference to that specific game. I'd add the fact back, but I'm scared that people will accuse me of being a troll to resurrecting a bad reference. ;-p any comments?-[[User:mathgrant|mathgrant]] 16:51, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)

ya i have a comment 1. NO DUH!melee is from super smash bros. melee. 2.who the #$$%^ gives a crap?-anyonoumos

:On the contrary, I think many RPGs use "melee." Its use in this email is not a specific reference but a generalization of the genre. I think we should remove this ref. Good job in using the Talk page to discuss questionable content! [[User:Drhaggis|<nowiki></nowiki>]]- [[User:Drhaggis|Dr Haggis]] - [[User talk: Drhaggis|Talk]] 16:58, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)

:I know more games then just super smash bros. that use the word "melee." Theres a game for gamecube, called GODZILLA destroy all monsters melee.
::Interesting. The only RPG I've ever played is Super Mario RPG, so I'd never heard of the word "melee" until Nintendo released the official title of its sequel to Super Smash Brothers. If RPGs really use that word a lot, I'd suggest the following reprhase:

::* "Melee" may be a reference to the 2001 Nintendo GameCube title "Super Smash Brothers Melee". It may also be a reference to any number of RPGs which use this word.

::How's it look? [[User:mathgrant|mathgrant]] 18:21, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)

RPGs using "Melee" well predate the 2001 game you mention. The "Ultima" and "Bard's Tale" games of the 80's used it, just not in the title. "Melee Weapons" have always referred to daggers, knives, and pole-arms rather than "Ranged Weapons" like guns and crossbows. Given TBC love of anachronism it is more likely they are referring to the earlier body of games. If we must have a fact on this I would say:
::*"[[Wikipedia:Melée|Melée]]" actually means "close range combat."

Or something like that. [[User:Drhaggis|<nowiki></nowiki>]]- [[User:Drhaggis|Dr Haggis]] - [[User talk: Drhaggis|Talk]] 18:57, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)

:Yeah, they are using the word because of its definition. I don't think it has anything to do with any game.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]] -- [[User:Tom|Tom]] 19:32, 11 Jan 2005 (MST)

:If they are using it because of its definition, it's actually most likely that they are referencing SSBM rather than old RPGs. The old RPGs don't use "melee" to mean "a buncha peoples fighting, like, all at the same time." The RPGs use it to mean "close combat". As far as I know, SSBM is the only game that features what Strong Bad described AND uses the word melee.

Maybe y'all should get a screenshot of it, so we can see exactly what they're talking about. I know I'd like to see it.

which way did strong bad use melee in terms of pronunciation? mah-lay or mee-lee? mah-lay is like ssbm while mee-lee like close ranged weapon. The reason why ssbm is may-lay is just because i remember people always calling it may-lay and not mee-lee. [[User:Imdaman]]

In the instruction booklet for ''"Strong Sad's Strafing/Toggling Challenge!!"'', the cover and the inside of the booklet have representations of Strong Sad that are mirror images of each other. In these images, his controller is also shown as a mirror image. == CONGRATURATION ==

== Melee ==

::How's it look? [[User:mathgrant|mathgrant]] 18:21, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)

:Does anyone have a Flash decompiler on hand? What Flash file is this one calling on when you click "Close"? --[[Special:Contributions/70.143.29.193|70.143.29.193]] 19:35, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
::The script actions for the close button are listed as follows:
<blockquote>''// Button actions...''<br>
on (release)<br>
{<br>
'''this.'''unloadMovie();<br>
}</blockquote>
::I dunno what any o' that means. But that's what it says. --[[User:DorianGray|DorianGray]] 20:42, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
:::Thanks. Weird. I thought the "Movie Not Loaded..." menu item was due to a non-existent Flash file. Or it's just a plain Flash that, well, hasn't finished loading. I'm not that good with ActionScript either, but is "'''this'''" defined as a variable? Or is that all of the script? --[[Special:Contributions/70.143.29.193|70.143.29.193]] 20:54, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

Should it be counted as a goof or fun fact that the brim of Homestar's hat is blue when you see his back? [[User:CompyError|CompyError]] 02:48, 20 December 2008 (UTC)CompyError

[[Image:Thyme.PNG|thumb|Sticker thyme!]]
'''[[Wikipedia:Thyme|Thyme]]''' is a plant native to southern Europe that is cultivated as a culinary and medicinal herb. Because "thyme" is prounounced the same as the word "time", the former is often used as a substitute for the latter in cases where "time" would be a more appropriate choice. [[Strong Bad]] also says "thyme" in [[do over]], though it is not used as a substitute for "time".
