DJ Samurai: Added Teeg Dougland credit

[[Image:mikechapman.jpg|thumb|Mike doing what he does best]]
'''Mike Chapman''', the elder of [[The Brothers Chaps]], is the tech for Homestarrunner.com. He is also husband to [[Missy Palmer]], the voice of [[Marzipan]].

He provides hilariously poor imitations of [[Matt Chapman]]'s characters in the [[Powered by The Cheat]] cartoons. He is also the voice of [[Teeg Dougland]] in "Limozeen: But They're in Space!"

Mike attended the [[Wikipedia:University of Georgia|University of Georgia]], studying photography and painting as part of his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He would later drop out of the graduate studies program.

More recently he was a panel member for the "Beyond Saturday Morning" discussion group at the 2004 Atlanta Film Festival.

His Top 5 favorite albums (in no particular order) are:
*Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
*Modern Lovers - Modern Lovers
*Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
*Mudhoney - Superfuzz Bigmuff
*Built to Spill - Ultimate Alternative Wavers

== Civil Rights Speech? ==
*I believe the line "It is a time of desolation, chaos and uncertainty. Brother pitted against brother; babies havin' babies." comes from a famous speech made by someone during the Civil Rights movement, but I don't remember the exact one. Does anyone know?
Well, I feel like it should be STUFF'D at least for being phrased as a question. Maybe I'll do that in a moment.
::Yeah, I certainly couldn't find anything regarding the Civil Rights movement that involved this quote. I've removed it from the page. I also didn't like how it read "might possibly have come from a famous speech...but not for certain." Though as noted by Drhaggis, the "brother pitted against brother" part is common of American Civil War discussions.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]] -- [[User:Tom|Tom]] 22:00, 29 Nov 2004 (MST)

I hate to be cynical, but after reading this wiki for a few weeks it seems like people are trying to make a reference out of every joke in Homestar. The line "It is a time of desolation, chaos and uncertainty. Brother pitted against brother; babies havin' babies" isn't in reference to anything, it's just silly. I mean, we live in a society, which means that we're constantly borrowing from what's already been done, but I think that it's being over-analyzed in cases like this. For a better discussion of the issues, see the South Park episode, "The Simpsons Already Did It" ;) -- [[User:24.21.86.243|24.21.86.243]] 13:15, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)

IT IS A REFERNCE, however to something different than what others might have said. This seems as a reference to "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, which describes a time of desolation with brother pitted against brother. The Babies havin' babies is just an extension of that.

:By that logic, it could be a reference to WAAAY too many things.
:I say we change it to "it's a common phrase for certain wars" and leave it at that, or drop it all together. We don't know what specifically it is a reference to, considering how broad it is, so why keep it? --[[User:Shadow Hog|Shadow Hog]] 20:03, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)
"This might be the farthest that Strong Bad has ever taken an e-mail sender's grammar mistake."
There have already been two mentions of the Lappy's startup noise in the Fun Facts section and I thought it would become even more convoluted if we continue to cotradict each other in an article (shouldn't that be moved to STUFF anyway, or at least here?), however I wanted to ask people's opinion on the possibility that the startup noise is a truncated version of the part of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" used in ''2001: A Space Odyssey''. Is that too much of a stretch?

DJ Samurai: /* Strong bads parents */

After two weeks, we finally get a new e-mail. 'origins' not only discusses The Stick, but the disappearance of [[Mr. Bland]] and [[Senor]] and why [[Strong Sad]] has a belly-button. Hilarious stuff. Keep up the good work, TBC.

Also, I can't get Homestar's bread song outta my head.

*Heh, I like Matt's "Little Strong Bad" voice.

== The drill and Strong Sad ==

So we know how Strong Sad got his belly button, Strong Bad drilled it in. Then there's the fact that the drill noise last appeared in [[privileges]], where you can overhear The Cheat doing something to Strong Sad with a drill. Coincidence? I don't think so. --[[User:DJ Samurai|DJ Samurai]] 06:11, 2 Feb 2005 (MST)

== Strong bads parents ==

Are "mentioned" (though granted not explicitily by the brothers chaps, but they did pick the email) in the Cheat's bday email.
: So? That wasn't the first mention of them, though they've never appeared. I hope you're not intending to add this as a Fun Fact. --[[User:Jay|Jay]] 14:26, 31 Jan 2005 (MST)
: Oh, I get it. It was a poorly-thought-out Fact that needed to be DELETED!!! Okay, yeah, the Strong Folks have been referred to before. --[[User:Jay|Jay]] 14:31, 31 Jan 2005 (MST)
: Strong Dad and Strong Mom, eh? Where were they mentioned? I don't remember that. --[[User:Moldorma|Moldorma]]
:: [[The Secrets That I Keep]], [[the facts]], one email in [[cheatday]] (as mentioned) and likely many others. --[[User:Jay|Jay]] 14:47, 31 Jan 2005 (MST)

== Moleskin ==
"Moleskine is a brand of pocket notebooks and sketch pads popular among trend-following artists and writers. Strong Sad mistakenly pronounces it "mole skin", whereas the correct pronunciation is "mol-a-skeen'-a"." What exactly is mole skin? It's some sort of product that can be found at pharmacies and the like, but does anyone have an exact definition? It may be noteworthy for the above fun fact. --[[User:Ogog|Ogog]]

:The "moleskin" you're thinking of, Ogog, is just a cotton fabric. I don't know why it's called moleskin and I'm too lazy to do the research, but I assure you contains no actual mole flesh, and has nothing to do with Moleskine notebooks. The way the moon looks in the scene with Marzipan and Homsar being glued together reminds me of Day of the Tentacle. Or Sam and Max...sadly I can't play the games right now to confirm it...

== The Blinking CD ==

Okay, I agree that the blinking CD fact has to go on the page SOMEWHERE, but it seems no one can agree where. Is it a Remark? A Goof? Should it go next to the Easter Egg? Let's try to get some general consensus. --[[User:Jay|Jay]] 16:44, 1 Feb 2005 (MST)
*Beverly Sportsinterviews is a reference to Beverly Cleary, an author for children and young adults.
*Beverly Sportsinterviews is also an obvious reference to everyone's favorite horrid Free Country USA author, [[Lem Sportsinterviews]]
*Pumpernickel and Rye both contain caraway seeds, which explains why they are grouped together in Homestar's sing-along.
* The drill noise was first heard in [[privileges]].
*The tag on Lil Strong Bad's gift was labeled, "To: Strong Bad. From: Mom or Dad".
Broken Compy Menu

DJ Samurai: /* Fun Facts */

[[Image:Shotgunned_menu.png|thumb|Homestar, did you come here for a reason?]]

'''Strong Bad Email?'''

Homestar Runner complains about pricing while Bubs tries to unload the shotgunned [[Compy 386]]. The menu was created after the Compy 386 died.

'''Cast (in order of appearance):''' [[Homestar Runner]], [[Bubs]]

'''Date:''' November 22, 2004

'''Note:''' This short was no longer available as of November 29, 2004.

__FORCETOC__
== Transcript ==
''{The shot opens with the shotgunned Compy 386 with a piece of paper taped to the front of it listing all of the current Strong Bad emails. After about 10 seconds, Homestar Runner starts talking}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{offscreen}'' You want how much?! That's preposterous! What kinda shady Bubs business you running here anyways? A Bubsness? ''{camera zooms out so we can see Homestar and the rest of the concession stand, with Bubs nowhere in sight}'' Why, I've got half a mind to report you, mister!

''{Bubs appears from the back of the concession stand}''

'''BUBS:''' Doot doot doo... alright, I'm back!

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Oh! Nothing!

'''BUBS:''' Who were you just talkin' to?

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Um, nobody? Everybody? Strong... Mad?

'''BUBS:''' Strong Mad was up here? Where'd he go?

''{camera angle changes so that the camera is inside the concession stand looking outward}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Bubsy, I'm not gonna lie to you. He flew away.

'''BUBS:''' Homestar, ''{camera changes back to exterior view of the concession stand}'' did you come up here for a reason?

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Um, freedom?

'''BUBS:''' What?

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Liberty! I mean, savings? Milk! Eggs! A low-priced automobile!

'''BUBS:''' Well, why didn't you say so? I've got one right here! ''{Bubs gestures toward the shotgunned Compy}'' Just in! Fresh from the factory goodness!

''{camera changes back to the interior view of the concession stand. Homestar performs several double takes}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Bubs, are you trying to sell me a lemon?

'''BUBS:''' Homestar, I'm not gonna lie to you.

''{camera changes back to exterior view of the concession stand}''

'''BUBS:''' You're not gonna find a better deal.

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Sold! Sold! ''{deeper voice}'' Sold!

''{The camera cuts back to the menu taped on the broken Compy 386}''

==Fun Facts==
*If you let the animation start, the menu has a bug that causes the emails to count up from 0 instead of 1, so clicking on a title will direct you to the email one previous to it. This also means [[some kinda robot]] directed to 'sbemail0.html' and [[virus]] could only be accessed from the menu by clicking the very top of the word ''virus''. Also, [[flashback]] takes you to 'emailahundred.html' instead of 'sbemailahundred.html', whether or not you let the animation play.
*Similarly, after the animation plays, "car" links to sbemail100.html, "[[Not the 100th Email!!!]]"
*This toon replaced the Compy 386 email menu after its destruction in "virus", and doubled as the replacement email menu.
*This toon also has a different filename than the usual Strong Bad email menu, so instead of being "sbemail.swf," it was "sbemail_shotgunned.swf"
**This might be so it can still be accessed when the menu is replaced.
*When the Tandy 400 exploded, [[Broken Tandy Menu]] similarly replaced the usual email menu.
*The Compy 386 is missing the contrast dial.
*The line, "I'm not gonna lie to you," spoken by both Homestar and Bubs, was also spoken by Homsar in [[for kids]].
*The font used for the email names does not include an underscore ('_') character, so 'sb_email 22' appears with a square instead of an underscore.
*Although Homestar tells Bubs that Strong Mad flew away, Strong Mad is the only one of the Brothers Strong, if you include The Cheat, who is yet to fly. (Recall Strong Sad in [[Main Page 15]], The Cheat in "[[helium]]", and Strong Bad, albeit on strings, in "[[dreamail]]".)
