*This email was the longest email when released, almost a full minute longer than [[flashback]] (previously the longest). However, it has since been surpassed by [[retirement]].
*When Strong Bad jumps down several panels in the Strong Badman comic, he passes a panel containing an explosion (with the word "TADAOW!"), and another panel with [[Deutschman]] (from [[haircut]]) holding a chain of sausages. If you take the code from 'Tavi pages, put em in Word, and then do a ctrl-f, you can have it replace all the parentheses with brackets. Tom: I'm seeing some deletion of redirect pages on the deletion log. It looks like most of those pages will not be missed, but it does help to have some "common" misspelling articles redirect to the proper article. This is not for sloppy linking , as no pages SHOULD link to a redirect page. This is for people who come to the site, punch in a name into the search box and are taken to the correct page.

:I agree. The ones I've been trying to catch are old links that were not fixed correctly during the move. Things like "MainPage 10" that were used instead of "[[Main Page 10]]" becuase of CamelCase on 'Tavi. The person who created that redirect then went ahead and created one for "MainPage 11", even though nothing linked there. I don't see the need for 21 pages to be created like this. Another example is "sbemail1" and its companions. There isn't a need for that.

:Of course, you also have to remember that we turned on case-sensitivity. That means that "[[What's Her Face]]" and "What's her Face" are also two completely different pages. I'd rather that a link show up in red and someone pick up on their mistake right away then have them continue to make links to redirect pages. How about desktop background downloads for the wiki? Anyone who wanted to create one could, then e-mail one of the admins the image. Then the admin, if approved, could upload it into the wiki images. I know a background that you would make would most likely be good and wholesome for the Wiki and for Homestar Runner, but I wouldn't want to encourage other not-as-good backgrounds to be made. The problem is this: the Wiki is text-based, and information provided through text makes things much easier to search and quicker to load. I'm not really sure that having a screenshot of every different one is needed. Why would it need to be seen by the viewer? Could they simply watch the toon or email instead? One thing that really needs to be done regarding The Container is having the links to the page standardized. Every Fun Facts section on every email and toon that has The Container in it should link to the Floppy Disk Container page in a uniform way. You could get started on that, if you want. And then there's what the disks actually reference. There's a subpage of the Old Wiki page on that needs to be copied over and gone through with a fine-tooth comb.

Well since you already have the list of where the disk case occurs, it should be easy to find the toons to put the link in. I'll get on it later. As far as the floppy images go, I don't think they're NEEDED per-say, but I think it would be kinda cool. It lets people really VISUALIZE the floppys. They would be really small pics too, not full screen. But if you don't want them I won't put them there. As for other pics though, I have been kind of going through the sites putting pictures on everything, if you don't like any of them, feel free to take them off. I just think that any character, object, or place does need a picture to really visualize what the afforementioned thing is. Most of the pages I did only have one or two pics, with the exceptions of The [[King of Town's Castle]] place page, and the [[Tandy_400]] computer page. I kinda may have gone overboard on those ones. Look 'em over and decide. The [[Monkey_D]]'s page also have a few. If you don't like them you can fix them how you see fit. Alrightie. Update on the floppy disk container. I've been slowly working away at the Floppy disk container with screenshots page, no help needed there, but as I do so I realized another thing missing from the floppy disk container section, and an actual USEFUL thing, is a breif description and history of the games listed on the floppy disk containers. So that being said, I'm also plugging away at that in my little corner of the floppy disk page. If you would like the commentaries on the main floppy disk page too, which I think would be useful, please let me know so that I can add them to both pages as I go along. No rush though, it'll probably be a few weeks before I'm finished researching them and all. Let me know if you think this would be an improvement to the floppy disk page though. Generally I don't ask permission for editing things, but since you're the senior and keeper of the floppy disk container, I thought it was only fair to ask you. So what are your thoughts?

Thanks, I got it. What do you think of my floppy for Lackey? It's the best I could do... Anyways, I wanted to ask you about the once and only once policy. Though I agree that it's a good policy, I think that the 'see above' thing destroys the look of the summaries, especially once they are all finished. Plus, 'Manhunter New York' appeared in an e-mail at the top, then a toon way at the bottom. So it would be kind of hard to just say 'see above'. Plus since the picture is repeated, why not the explanation? You are the moderater, and whatever you decide I'll abide by, but in this case, since it's only for about 4 floppies, a number that's not likely to be increased, could I just repeat the explanations?

Template? I don't know much about website formating or whatnot. Basically everything I do on the Wiki I learn by looking at how somebody else wrote a code, and then copying that pattern. Hey Tom, I thought JPG format was to be used for videos and pictures, and PNG for all flash material. Plus I think the JPG looked clearer and brighter. Actually, I never thought about NPOV. While I was doing all this, I used reviews as sources, it's easier to just take the opinions of the writers and condence them. But I think that meathod has given the summaries a multi purpose, to now give you a bit of background about the game for curiosity's sake, but also as a type of mini review, for those who are deciding whether or not to find and play them. It gives the summaries a critical and reviewish type feel. Now to go back and do them all NPOV'D would take some doing, and in my opinion I don't think would be as enjoyable to read. What do you think?

I moved the [[:Category: Strong Bad Email]] as a sub-category of [[:Category: Strong Bad Filmography]]. All the emails were in both categories when technically all SB Emails are part of his filmography by default. Who's in charge of the Main Page, not so much the look of it, I don't really care about that, but moreso the organization of the links to pages. Now I'm no moderator, but I was curious as to why the links are organized the way they are. Why are Inside Jokes part of Wiki Stuff, Yet Songs part of Knowledge Base? I've been thinking about the layout, and I belive I've figued out a good way of sortage, and am hoping for either a yes or a no. Either one, as long as I can maybe get some kind of explanation as to why they're sorted the way they are, should the answer be a no. Anyhoo, without further ado, I give you my sorting idea...

As you may have read I have an issue with the [[HRWiki:STUFF|STUFF]] page. I am very glad someone has spearheaded an attempt to control the "fun fact" problem, but I still think that the voting and discussion for disputed Fun Facts should be made on the article's talk page and not on the STUFF page.

If a controversial article like [[Wikipedia:History of Israel]] can exist on the Wikipedia by using the Talk page and without resorting to a common page voting system, I think the Homestar Wiki article [[virus]] can too.

Now that we have people's attention with the [[HRWiki:STUFF|STUFF]] page I suggest that we move content discussion back to the Talk pages where they belong.

This could be used to let contributors know that there is a dispute, and to direct them to the talk page. The Disputed Fun Facts link should go to a page with the info that [[User:furrykef |furrykef]] wrote on what is and is-not a good fun fact.

People were not using the talk pages effectively in the past, which is a failure of us the users, not of the talk pages.

I indeed was amazed at all the users who were very interested in voting. It appears that a quick vote and comment is much easier than proposing fixes and improvements.

I also believe this is why some users, instead of improving on articles that already exist, create very small articles for very fringe elements of said universe. DeLoreans were the awesomest cars from the 80's...or any time period...it starred in Back To The Future, and that is what made it famous. John Zachary !DeLorean started his company in 1981. It was brought down in 1983 after the government entrapped him in a cocaine deal alledgedly in an atttempt to save his company from clear downfall. He was acquitted of all charges on reason of entrapment, but all the court fees drove the company out of business. JZD is supposedly working on the DMC 2, the sequel to the original DMC. The original company, DeLorean Motor Company, produced 10,583 DeLoreans of 3 minor varieties before being brought to a downfall.

Strong Bad Email 104 theme park has seven of my entries, they are all of the easter eggs. I did not add the fun facts, however. That was kind of cool that I did all the easter eggs for an email right when it came out!

A WikiTroll is a person who purposefully defaces a document on a wiki. There are a few methods in place for dealing with WikiTrolls.

==How to revert a page==
Any page can be reverted back to a previous version. Here's how:
*''sysop:'' Simply click "history" at the top of the page you wish to roll back. Position the radio buttons at the current version and the version you want to roll back to, then click "Compare selected versions". Next, click the "rollback" link near the upper right side of the page (directly to the right of the most recent author's name).
*''non-sysop:'' Simply click "history" at the top of the page you wish to roll back. Then click on the time and date of the archived version you want to revert back to. The page will appear with the version indicated at the top of the page, just underneath the page title. Next, click "edit" at the top of the page. Add a note in the Summary box that you are reverting the page because of a troll, and then click "Save page".

After repeated defacings, an offender's IP address can be blocked by [[Special:Listadmins|several users]] who have admin rights. These admins pay careful attention to this page, and will [[Special:Ipblocklist|block]] IP addresses where/when appropriate.

#How to list the Characters on the [[Characters]] page. I know the few characters we have setup now were done with categories. I don't know how we are going to get them all (secondary etc.) on one page.
#I indented the 3 Features. They are under Toons, but I know they deserve a spot on the Main Menu... any other suggestions on how to do that?
#Rejects/Everything Else - what to call the page. Or even if we need that page. Should we just list everything on the Characters page under several headings? And we have to figure out what the categories are going to be.

== Wiki Stuff ==
Okay, now that that's kinda settled...How are we gonna format the WikiStuff section of the main page? I know not everything will be included in this new wiki, but some stuff needs a place, like HelpDesk and WikiSandbox and whatnot. Do we just follow the same formatting as the old wiki, even though it may be like 5 links and that's it? Is it possible to make a sidebar links thingy that'd show up on every page? That'd be awesome, and it'd set us apart a little more.
Also, half of the pages that we linked on the main page make me wanna barf. I wonder why we never looked these things over periodically? I mean the downloads page, on a scale of 1 to 10 is horrible.5. There's gonna have to be some major overhauling of most those pages to make them look WAY more professional. I'd like to make this a site that TBC can NOT ignore, ya know?

:Ah, very good questions. MediaWiki has these things called "[http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Namespace Namespace]s". For example the "Category:" part of the link puts the page in the "Category" namespace. Our Wiki's namespace for pages like the sandbox and stuff would go under "Homestar Runner Wiki:" just like the [[Homestar Runner Wiki:General disclaimer]] and [[Homestar Runner Wiki:FAQ]] pages. The HelpDesk is in the "Help:" namespace. See [[Help:Contents]]. Also, a lot of that is under the "Special:" namespace: [[Special:Allpages|Allpages]], [[Special:Listusers|Listusers]], [[Special:Ipblocklist|Ipblocklist]], and so on. We can put stuff over there on the sidebar too. And yes, some of those pages are totally "barf" as you say. I couldn't agree with you more. Maybe someone else has some suggestions on all this... == Let's Open 'er Up ==
So, lately I've had this horribly sick feeling that things have gone all wrong. This wiki is a community, and therefore a project like this should be done as a community. What we should do, above anything, is get things ready to be opened up. I'd like to see our community finish moving emails, toons, and characters (maybe I'm just lazy, but I really do feel that this is a matter of principle).

I know some of you might be freaking out and thinking that we can't trust our users to move stuff the right way, but think about this: This community has worked so far precisely because we have given everyone the freedom to edit any document. This is the wiki way! If we don't trust our community to get things right, why is this even a wiki in the first place? We might as well just have a normal website maintained by the dozen of us that are working on this migration right now.

So, what we really need to do is all the stuff that's necessary for this place to be operational. We need to build the documentation, make sure all the namespaces and options are set up the way we want them, etc. What do you guys think of this? --[[User:JoeyDay|JoeyDay]] 09:31, 23 Aug 2004 (MST)

If we open up both the old wiki and the new wiki to everybody, things are going to slow to a crawl again. Can you think of any solution to this?
