The '''Envelope Paper''' is an interdepartmental Manila envelope with "click HERE to email [[strong bad]]" written on it. Only the section marked "HERE" is actually clickable. [[Strong Bad]] probably used the Envelope Paper to fit in with the work environment or simply because he can't find another paper. It replaced either [[The Paper]] or [[New Paper]] after it was destroyed in [[hremail3184]].

'''New Paper''' is the replacement for [[The Paper|The original Paper]] after its printer broke in the 173rd email, [[the paper]] (just as foretold in the email [[montage]]). It usually reads:

Unlike its predecessor, New Paper comes from an inkjet printer capable of printing color, although it is permanently short of ink. It usually features color pictures of a key from a keyboard reading "@" and Strong Bad's head in an envelope to the left and right of the text, respectively. Like The Paper, New Paper normally prints out upside-down, and as a result it is somehow losing ink on its leading edge, rather than the trailing edge.

Its first printing sound effect, according to [[Strong Bad]], was "[[onomatopoeia|Heunh heownh heunh heownh vvvvvt eangt clonk-a-donk]]". The sound effect was shortened to "vvvvvt eangt clonk-a-donk" beginning with New Paper's second appearance [[mini-golf]]. It turned into ashes in [[hremail 3184]] due to the explosion of the [[Lappy 486]].

==Strong Bad's initial reactions to New Paper==
Beginning with New Paper's introduction and through the five emails that followed, there was a [[running gag]] involving Strong Bad's displeasure with it:

*In [[the paper]], Strong Bad dislikes the new sound that New Paper makes. He declares that it is on "trial status" and insists that it impress him. New Paper's first attempt at doing so was to print out an [[ASCII Art|ASCII picture]] of a butt made from hyphens and dollar signs, which was judged to be a partial success.

*In [[mini-golf]], New Paper comes down early while Strong Bad was still answering the email. He then angrily asks it to go back up. In the end, when New Paper comes down in time, he asks if it's ever not running out of ink.

*In [[concert]], Strong Bad further expresses his displeasure with the sound that the New Paper makes, and sticks a floppy disk in it to make more of a scratchy sound.

*In [[hygiene]], Strong Bad is disappointed further when New Paper runs a calibration test (though you can still click on it to email Strong Bad), also remarking that it keeps sucking just enough to stay interesting.

*In [[original]], Strong Bad asks New Paper to disappoint him. It responds by falling off the screen after printing. Strong Bad comments that when it comes to disappointing, New Paper never disappoints.

*In [[bike thief]], New Paper is printed with the old Paper's green and white stripe design. This doesn't fool Strong Bad, but he admits it does make him feel "a little better".

New Paper came down in a separate area from Strong Bad in the next two emails ([[pizza joint]] and [[slumber party]]), and so [[web comics]] marked the first time Strong Bad did not take the opportunity to insult it. It then managed to print itself out without any problems, setbacks, or criticisms, until it was beaten up by [[The Paper]] in [[email thunder]].

==Abnormal Sayings==

Just like The Paper, New Paper has displayed messages other than the standard "Click here to e-mail Strong Bad" link.

*In the email [[the paper]], it prints out an [[ASCII Art|ASCII picture]] of a butt made from hyphens and dollar sign above the usual email information, along with the text "but, a butt".
*In the email [[concert]], it reads "How ya like me now?" above the usual email information.
*In the email [[hygiene]], it runs a calibration test as opposed to the usual email information. Clicking on it will produce the usual response.
*In the email [[environment]], it prints with the text "Click gently to eco-mail Strong Bad" and "printed on 100% post-consumer brown paper with green ink". The pictures have been replaced with small green pine trees with @-symbols inside.
*In the [[strongbad_email.exe|DVD]] and [[Podstar Runner|podcast]] versions of Strong Bad Emails, it simply reads, "the end," just like The Paper did in the DVD and podcast versions, but with no capitalization. The images of the "@" key and Strong Bad's head in an envelope are present as well.
*In the short [[Place Ya Bets!]], it reads "Place Your bets, people!"
*In the email [[email thunder]], it says "[[Homestar Runner]]" instead of "Strong Bad", and it says "DJmankiewicz" instead of "strongbad" at homestarrunner.com. It is then beaten up by the returning [[The Paper]].

'''The Paper''' was the piece of printer paper that came down from the top of the screen after nearly every [[Strong Bad Email]], up until [[the paper]], when it was replaced by [[New Paper]]. It usually would read:

In the first twenty emails, it contained just the first line without an email address. When the link is clicked in subsequent emails, the email address disappears, possibly as a result of the address not being properly added to the Flash file.

The Paper coming down usually signals the end of the email; however, the majority of [[Easter egg]]s can be found after The Paper has come down. One can either wait around or click on certain words [[Strong Bad]] has typed. It is shown in [[the paper]] that Strong Bad had its printer above his desk, but it is still unclear exactly to what it was attached. This seemingly magical paper can sometimes be seen manifesting itself out of the clear blue sky, where it can seem huge in comparison to its normal size. Some suggest that it's merely in the foreground. On occasion, Strong Bad has touched The Paper in closeup, making The Paper look even more like it's gigantic compared to everything else by having his hand seem notably smaller than The Paper.

From the sound it made and the quality of the printout, the printer that produces The Paper can be assumed to be of the [[Wikipedia:dot matrix printer|dot matrix]] variety. The sprocket holes on the edges further indicated that it had a tractor feed mechanism. Both technologies are almost completely [[Strong Bad's Technology|outmoded]]. In most appearances, The Paper prints upside-down from how a real dot-matrix printer would operate; that is, the ''last'' line prints first toward the free edge of the page. However, as seen in [[the paper]], it is also capable of printing in the "normal" orientation. A drawing of the printer in [[lady fan]] also shows the printer operating in this way.

It was foretold in [[montage]] that The Paper would stick around until email #173, at which time Strong Bad would upgrade to an [[New Paper|inkjet printer]]. This did indeed come to pass. The Paper's printer began to malfunction, and fell from its hidden spot above the computer. After a series of flashbacks reminiscing about The Paper, it bade Strong Bad farewell, and he cremated it with the [[BMW lighter]]. Its ashes spelled "Bye now". Strong Bad then sang a lament for his departed friend: "And The Paper goeth into the niiIIiiIIiiIIght!"

Despite The Paper's demise on the website, The Paper returned alive and well in ''[[Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People]]'', as part of the in-game menu. It also returned to the site for Strong Bad's [[email thunder|200th email]], when it fought the [[New Paper]] offscreen. It was then accidentally burned to a crisp once more by the electrocuting Happy 8600.

The [[onomatopoeia]] for The Paper's sound effect is "[[preeeeow]]", mentioned in [[autobiography]], [[haircut]], [[part-time job]], [[garage sale]], [[lady fan]], [[coloring]], and [[the paper]]. The Paper is always referred to with an [[integral article]].

*In [[sb_email 22]], The Paper only comes down at the end of the [[sb_email 22#Easter Eggs|press conference]] Easter egg.
*The printer for The Paper is apparently female; at the end of [[invisibility]], the contrast knobs of the [[Tandy 400]] can be repeatedly clicked to produce the message "tell the printer i'll miss her." However, The Paper itself is male, as mentioned in [[animal]] when Strong Bad asks "him" to come down and meet the new [[Lappy 486]].
*Apparently, The Paper can also produce counterfeit money; in an Easter egg in [[couch patch]], one can click on a hidden link to make The Paper print out an [[ASCII art]] million dollar bill.
*Strong Bad also uses The Paper in [[autobiography]] to print out the actual email. He runs the command "print_of_it.exe" to do so.

*In [[the facts]], The Paper comes down after [[Homestar Runner|Homestar]] says, "And that's the end of my show, DONK!" Strong Bad objects to this.

[[Strong Bad]] shows a strong preference for out-of-date '''technology'''. Sometimes his feelings are so strong they lead to a state of denial, in which he describes such outmoded technologies as cutting-edge. Similarly, the company [[Videlectrix]], which Strong Bad endorses, seems to embrace a mission plan of releasing 8-bit and 16-bit "[[Peasant's Quest Preview#Easter Eggs|video computer games on TV]]" which they consider to have "good graphics". Strong Bad continually remains adamant that his computers are high tech. In [[animal]] and [[redesign]], however, Strong Bad mocks [[The Cheat]]'s use of "new computers".

*[[Strong Bad Sings]] — Strong Bad appears to think that a record holds more than a CD, as the announcer states that the collection is available on 3 records or 7 CDs. Also, he claims that it's available on [[8-tracks]], which have not been seen in stores since the eighties.
**An 8-track tape could also have more songs than a record, depending how long the songs are and if the record is 33, 45, or 78 rpm.
*Several occasions — The only telephone that Strong Bad ever seems to answer is a seventies telephone, with the only buttons to press being those used for dialing. Since the eighties, speed dial and redial have been standard on all phones.
**Although the headpiece should be attached to the base, Strong Bad's appears to be [[Disconnected Telephones|disconnected]] from the base.
*Almost every [[Strong Bad Email]] — Strong Bad uses outdated [[Items#Strong Bad's Computers|computers]], and praised the [[Compy 386]] and [[Lappy 486]] as state-of-the-art computers with awesome features. [[The Paper]], as well, appears to come from a tractor-fed dot matrix printer. In home use, such printers are now nearly non-existent.

*Email [[animal]] — Strong Bad scoffs at [[The Cheat]] for using ''new'' computers.
*Email [[long pants]] — Strong Bad deems the email "too long" and proceeds to edit it with a white-out pen, which he calls a "light pen" with "expensive electrons". When the plan backfires on him, though, he refers to it as "stupid made-up technology that I made up".

Are any stats available for the screen resolution most people here use? Currently, on the main page, for my resolution of 1280x1024, the featured article ends just above the July 10 text (the second from bottom one). A smaller resolution like 1024x768 would best remove the bottom entry from June 30 only, and for an even smaller resolution, like 800x600, the featured article section is a little bit larger than the whats new section.
