Lumpster702:

On July 13, 2022, Strong Bad made a surprise ten-minute appearance on the Gravity Falls podcast Mystery Shack Lookback, episode 49: "Cipher Hunt". The episode was hosted by Charley Marlowe, Ella Cesari, and Shelby Sessler, featuring guests Alex Hirsch and Jason Ritter. Strong Bad discussed his involvement in the 2016 Cipher Hunt event, and his audition to be the voice of Grunkle Stan.

Transcript
{An hour into the episode, Alex Hirsch mentions a poster that was put up in Georgia as part of the hunt.}

ALEX: I couldn't do that myself, but I knew a friend who had the ability to get to that spot... Um, so I called up my friend, um, let's see if we can patch them through here...

CHARLEY: Are you kidding me? He is the reason that I got into writing and voice acting.

{The Lappy 486 startup sound plays, followed by the Geddup Noise.}

ALEX: There he is, folks. Uh, hey, Mr. Bad, thank you for joining us.

STRONG BAD: Who's that?

ELLA: Oh my gosh! Well, folks, it appears that, uh, that Strong Bad himself has joined us on this podcast. Welcome!

CHARLEY: @StrongBadActual on Twitter!

ELLA: Yeah!

ALEX: Strong Bad, are we coming through okay?

STRONG BAD: Oh yeah, you guys you all sound great! How do I look?

ELLA: You look fantastic.

SHELBY: {overlapping} You look amazing!

CHARLEY: Strong Bad is currently cosplaying Grunkle Stan, we should screenshot that and save it for the archives.

STRONG BAD: Yeah, I do it for like, you know those cosplays at conventions, you can tell the person thought of like five minutes before they walked out the door.

CHARLEY: They call them closet cosplays, Strong Bad.

STRONG BAD: I call 'em tapesplays!

ELLA: So are there no hard feelings, Strong Bad, after Grunkle Stan threatened to shoot you with his gun, for being on his property?

CHARLEY: {overlapping} In that one Vine?

STRONG BAD: I don't remember that. That's lost to the ether... of...

{Laughter}

ELLA: {overlapping} Okay, fair enough.

STRONG BAD: The Ethernet. It's lost to the Ethernet! Cable.

ELLA: You seem to have a big part to play in this here Cipher Hunt, do you wanna talk about hiding the clue for the Shriners' temple?

STRONG BAD: Well, you know, I know a thing or two about Easter eggs.

ELLA: Mm-hmm. Of course!

CHARLEY: Oh, yeah, yeah! I always click things, uh, behind behind the black, at the end.

STRONG BAD: That's right! And so, Alex came to me, and he was like, "Hey, I need to try and click on links in the real world," and I told him that there's no HTML

CHARLEY: {overlapping, laughing} That's not how it works, dude.

STRONG BAD: in the physical world, right, I had to sort of educate him on that.

ELLA: Yeah.

STRONG BAD: Uh, but so we figured out things like, "Oh, you could put a sign on a telephone pole with, like, a phone number on it!" So, you know, we went for that. That's why I'm wearin' the fez because I put some signs up, near Shriners', like, uh, temple deal.

SHELBY: {overlapping} Of course, you had to blend in!

STRONG BAD: Look at that!

CHARLEY: But infamously, uh, this sign had gotten very water-worn, does Bubs not offer lamination or...?

STRONG BAD: Uh, look, it was inside of like a Ziploc but I think that the lock failed.

{Laughing}

ELLA: Ah.

CHARLEY: Oh, the Ziploc f yeah, that happens sometimes.

STRONG BAD: They get some torrential rains in the Atlanta area.

ELLA: They do!

SHELBY: Yep! Yeah...

STRONG BAD: It was the summertime.

CHARLEY: Uh, Strong Bad, can I do something that is considered, uh, something you're not supposed to do?

STRONG BAD: Is it bring back those little, like, brushes that they stick in mustard? In old-timey things?!

CHARLEY: Yeah! Right here...

STRONG BAD: Remember how mustard used to have brushes? Is that what you're about to do?! BRING BACK THE MUSTARD BRUSH!

CHARLEY: I'm working on it! Hashtag bring back the mustard brush.

STRONG BAD: Is that what you're gonna do?

CHARLEY: But no... Strong Bad, I would like to, uh, imitate your voice to you.

STRONG BAD: Oh I don't ohh God. Okay.

{Laughing}

CHARLEY: I don't have to! I don't have to!

STRONG BAD: No, I love it! I love hearin'

CHARLEY: {Strong Bad impression} Oh yeah, I love it too! Yeah!

STRONG BAD: all of you people's terrible impressions.

CHARLEY: {Strong Bad impression} No! Now wait, now wait. Okay, I'd say "half-terrible", all right? I would say, you know, on a range of "not very good at all" to "hey, you got something there", I'm like...

STRONG BAD: Hey, that's identifiable!

{Laughing}

STRONG BAD: Certified certified identifiable. Most of them are like...

CHARLEY: Identifiable is the best anyone can do with any impression, I think.

STRONG BAD: Yeah, exactly!

ALEX: I'm very embarrassed to admit that occasionally while drunk, I will text Strong Bad, uh, my embarrassing attempts to do a Strong Bad voice. Um, and Strong Bad is, uh, very nice and doesn't say anything.

ELLA: That doesn't sound that much like Strong Bad! He makes an exception for you!

ALEX: {overlapping} I think mine are not too identifiable.

STRONG BAD: Oh man, his Homsar is the best, he's really good at Homsar.

{Laughing}

CHARLEY: {Homsar impression} AaAaAah...

ALEX: {overlapping; Homsar impression} AaAah'm forever your...

CHARLEY: {Homsar impression} Ah'm the pride of the peaches!

STRONG BAD: Whoa! See, now that's

ALEX: {overlapping} That's good, that's a good Homsar.

STRONG BAD: Yeah, that goes way beyond identifiable!

{Laughing}

CHARLEY: Beyond identifiable? Wow, that's the best compliment I've ever received unfortunately.

ALEX: Strong Bad, Strong Bad, can I ask you, uh, how did you get all the way from Free Country, USA to the shrine in Georgia?

ELLA: I know, that's what I was thinkin'!

STRONG BAD: It was difficult, you know, The Cheat, he put, uh, a Game Gear this time in a blender...

CHARLEY: Yes. Okay.

STRONG BAD: So, usually to make portals we put Game Boy...

CHARLEY: So the Game Boy in the blender travels dimensions, but the Game Gear in the blender

ALEX: Takes you to Georgia.

STRONG BAD: Sega. Gotta call Sega!

CHARLEY: {overlapping} Does it require you to put six double-A batteries in every three hours? Or...

STRONG BAD: Yes. That's the problem... you gotta shove them down in your down your throat like my old diagrams.

CHARLEY: Okay, all right, yeah.

ELLA: I was gonna say, I know you don't have a car, at least not one that runs, so I was wondering how you got there, but that's smart! I bet that saved a lot of travel...

CHARLEY: Right, 'cause the Gremlin wouldn't have taken you there.

ELLA: No.

STRONG BAD: No. It wouldn't have gone that's the road trips, you know... technically, neither road nor trip, that we take together.

{Laughter}

ELLA: No, it was instantaneous and there were no roads.

STRONG BAD: Yeah.

ALEX: Strong Bad and while we've got you here, Strong Bad, I just wanted to say how excited I was when, um, I believe it was a Halloween cartoon

ELLA: That's right!

ALEX: that had a, was it Bubs, was dressed as Grunkle Stan?

ELLA: Naturally!

ALEX: Am I remembering that correctly?

STRONG BAD: Yeah, because I refused to do it, because I was looked over as the voice of Grunkle Stan!

CHARLEY: That's true!

SHELBY: {overlapping} You gotta do that!

ALEX: {overlapping} You had to bring that up, you gotta bring that Okay, I wasn't gonna mention it, but I did

STRONG BAD: I was gonna mention it!

{Laughter}

ALEX: I did audition, uh, Strong Bad for the role of Grunkle Stan...

ELLA: Awww.

ALEX: And Strong Bad, he came all the way to Los Angeles and we put him up in a booth, and we had a stack of telephone books for him to sit on on a stool to reach the microphone...

STRONG BAD: You gotta put an Atari Lynx in a blender to get to L.A.!

{Laughter}

ELLA: Interesting!

CHARLEY: I have not heard anyone say the phrase "Atari Lynx" in about ten years.

STRONG BAD: That's actually pretty recent. That's pretty good.

ELLA: I was gonna say, yeah, that's like...

CHARLEY: Oh. I was confusing it with the Jaguar...

STRONG BAD: The Jaguar! The Jag-yu-ar.

ALEX: You were confusing it with Me and Strong Bad, we would go golf at Atari Lynx, uh, after recording voices...

ELLA: Ahh.

STRONG BAD: We put in a... back twenty. Is that golf? Is that golf talk?

CHARLEY: I thought Lynx was a Nintendo thing.

ELLA: Oh yeah, you're right...

CHARLEY: All those Links? In those Zeldas games?

ELLA: That was just the one.

ALEX: Let me ask you, Strong Bad, what do you recall about that audition? Do you remember it very well?

STRONG BAD: I remember that the sides... were like a pale shadow of the man that Grunkle S the Grunkle Man would become.

{Laughter}

ELLA: Right. Well, I mean it was between you and Bob Odenkirk...

STRONG BAD: Listen. I remember the last line was Grunkle Stan screaming the phrase, "KIDS! WHERE ARE MY PANTS?!"

{Laughter}

ELLA: That sounds almost exactly like the Grunkle Stan that we ended up getting!

STRONG BAD: But you know but you guys know that Alex Hirsch, do you know the turn-down, the email I got that said "Sorry, Strong Bad, you don't get the part", you know what he said?

ELLA: What did he say?

STRONG BAD: He said, "you sound too much like Strong Bad".

{Laughter}

STRONG BAD: He said he couldn't do it, he was like, it would be too distracting to watch my cartoon, and hear Strong Bad every time Grunkle the Grunklem'n talks.

CHARLEY: But you know who would've been a fantastic Grunkle Stan? Crack Stuntman.

ELLA: Mmm.

STRONG BAD: Oh man, you don't wanna work with that guy.

CHARLEY: Oh, really?

STRONG BAD: That guy leads, like... his rider is like 72 pages long, just to record some, like, fart noises.

CHARLEY: Oh, no! So that all came into play when he, uh, when he played the guest Bubs that one time? When Original Bubs left?

STRONG BAD: Yeah, that was a nightmare.

CHARLEY: {overlapping} Oh, I'm sorry.

STRONG BAD: I blacked that out.

{Laughter}

ALEX: Crack Stuntman is notoriously difficult to work with... shows up late, uh, has a really weird entourage of people who like, know the show from its reboot... um, it's a mess. I really like, I've been a big fan of Strong Bad for a very long time, and was very excited for an opportunity to work with him, but it was my concern that he has such a... iconic and distinctive voice and I was worried that as a Strong Bad fan, I thought, gosh, if Grunkle Stan sounds too much like Strong Bad, I as an audience would be the whole time just thinking "gimme Strong Bad", like who's this guy?

CHARLEY: I, uh, discovered Gravity Falls from a series of Tweets between Strong Bad and Joshua Pruett, where Strong Bad had placed an autographed bumper cling on his car outside of Disney TVA, and that was how I learned of the sh

STRONG BAD: That wasn't me! I didn't have I wasn't usin' my Twitters yet. I don't know who did that.

{Laughter}

STRONG BAD: That weirdo.

CHARLEY: Oh, that must have been someone else, I don't know, some Ronginald... I think his name was Ronginald? But um...

STRONG BAD: That's not a real name.

CHARLEY: It doesn't sound like it.

ELLA: It was very nice of you to hide that clue for Alex, even after that audition didn't go so well, I hope you were able to land a spot on the show eventually, maybe as some kind of merman or something. Who knows?

STRONG BAD: Oh, that's just a soundalike. They hired a soundalike.

ELLA: Alex! Come on!

CHARLEY: I recall the Hand Witch kind of sounding like some of your Teen Girl Squad voices, that wasn't you?

STRONG BAD: No, they got that creepy, like, Gollum-lookin' guy that does Blue Laser's voice...

CHARLEY: The Guy That Does The Bad Guy's Voice, that's right!

ELLA: Aww, come on, Alex, get the genuine article! You gotta get the real

CHARLEY: When people told me, it's kind of like the Teen Girl Squad voice, I'm like, "No, it's Blue Laser Commander, get it right!"

STRONG BAD: That's right! There's a big difference! I do the Teen Girl Squad voice, that creepy

CHARLEY: And a weird zombie voices the Blue Laser Commander!

STRONG BAD: That's right, you can't get that voice out of a living human!

{Laughter}

ALEX: Strong Bad, thank you so much for helping out with the Cipher Hunt, thank you so much for being gracious enough to audition for the role of Grunkle Stan, um, always a pleasure and your cosplay is better than...

ELLA: It's better than identifiable.

STRONG BAD: Thanks so much! You guys have a great time!

CHARLEY: That is one identifiable-plus cosplay, Strong Bad.

STRONG BAD: Hey, thanks! I found this tassle on a couch!

CHARLEY: Do you need to put a patch to cover where the tassle was taken?

STRONG BAD: I did! I did, in fact. I put an X of duct tape.

{Laughter}

ELLA: Wow!

ALEX: Thank you, Strong Bad!

SHELBY: Thank you!

ELLA: Thank you, Strong Bad!

STRONG BAD: Thank you, bye. There's my nose!

ELLA: Good nose!

CHARLEY: And if you ever talk to one, uh, "Matthew Chapman" for whatever reason, tell him thank you too for no particular reason.

STRONG BAD: Thank you.

{Laughter}

STRONG BAD: Look, The Cheat's runnin' around!

THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}

STRONG BAD: There he goes!

THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}

{The Paper sound plays. Strong Bad leaves and the podcast continues.}

Transcript
{The toon opens with Marzipan playing her guitar in her living room. Streamers resembling the "ghost" from Haunted Photo Booth decorate the room. Homestar walks up, and Marzipan stops playing as she turns around.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {angry} Marzipan, it's over! {raises his sword prop}

MARZIPAN: {unfazed} Okay.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I can't take another day of this {plants his sword into the floor} garbage relationship!

MARZIPAN: That's fine.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Wait, what day is it?

MARZIPAN: {annoyed} Halloween.

{Homestar produces a book labeled "PLAN THING" and opens it up.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {sheepishly} Oops, sorry! I was looking at next week. This is what I'm supposed to say to you today: {jumps up excitedly} Marzipan! This is it! {picks up and raises his sword} This Halloween I'm finally going to tell a top-notch four-and-a-half-stars-with-over-six-hundred-reviews-quality ghost story! And you know what that means!

{The music Marzipan was playing starts back up.}

MARZIPAN: Um, that you're gonna break up with me next week apparently?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {dramatically} Mr. Poofers must die!!

{Cut to a title screen reading "Mr. Poofers Must Die". Mr. Poofers's eyes occasionally briefly flash in place of the O's in the title. The words "A TOP-NOTCH 4½ STARS WITH OVER 600 REVIEWS QUALITY GHOST STORY" appear at the bottom of the screen.}

MARZIPAN: {voiceover} Who the crap is Mr. Poofers?

{The scene transitions to Mr. Poofers on an orange background.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Hey everyone! Hey everyone, look! Hey everyone, look at Mr. Poofers!

{Mr. Poofers sits down, with an accompanying noise.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Mr. Poofers is a dog&mdash;

{Mr. Poofers scratches himself with his hind leg and a question mark appears over his head.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} &mdash;but he sounds like this!

{As Homestar says each word that Mr. Poofers "sounds like", Mr. Poofers opens his mouth, and the same word appears inside it.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Miffa miffa meeka moo!

{Mr. Poofers looks around.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} That is funny talk for a dog!

{Mr. Poofers stands up.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} What a great cloud with legs Mr. Poofers is.

{Mr. Poofers's fur fluffs out to make him look more cloud-like.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Uh, I mean, what a great dog&mdash;

{Mr. Poofers returns to normal and scratches himself.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} &mdash;Mr. Poofers is!

{The screen changes to a dining room table with three pine cones on it.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Mr. Poofers eats pimecones for breakfast, {Mr. Poofers appears and eats half of the first pine cone} lunch, {he eats the second} and dinner. {he eats the third} Imagine that! Pimecones for B, L, and D!

{As he says that last part, placards labeled "B", "L", and "D" fall in front of the half-eaten pine cones. Cut to Old Man Rootbeer, who looks around.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Oh, look! Oh, look, everyone! There's Old Man Rootbeer! Old Man Rootbeer is not a big fan of Mr. Poofers.

{The screen pans over as Mr. Poofers runs up in the background. Old Man Rootbeer shakes his fist at him.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Not really that much of a big fan at all. {As Rootbeer, who points at Mr. Poofers:} That kid eats my pimecones! {normally} Shouted Old Man Rootbeer.

{Cut to Rootbeer and Mr. Poofers, standing near a hammock with four pine cones sitting nearby.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover, as Rootbeer} I'm gonna take a nap on my college hammock, {Rootbeer shakes his fist} so don't eat my pimecones! {normally} Old Man Rootbeer told Mr. Poofers. {as Mr. Poofers} Miffa miffa!

{Rootbeer lies down on the hammock, and his hat falls over his face.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} After a few moments, Old Man Rootbeer had fallen a-slumber.

{Mr. Poofers sneaks closer.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Juuust when the moment was right... Mr. Poofers stole his beard!

{Mr. Poofers takes Rootbeer's beard and runs off. Rootbeer jumps up, his entire face now covered in the remnants of his beard, and shakes his fist.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} What a prize!

{Cut to Mr. Poofers happily hugging the beard. A "ding" sound effect plays as the beard shines.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} An old man's beard, no less!

{Cut to Homestar, standing next to a table with a candle on it, as silhouettes of the other characters look on. White noise plays for a few seconds as he looks around. Cut to a shot of the other main characters.}

STRONG BAD: Ummmm... what did I just listen to?

{Cut back to Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Oh, sorry. "The end."

{Cut to Strong Bad.}

STRONG BAD: Is that what you dragged us all here for?!

{Cut to Strong Sad.}

STRONG SAD: Wasn't Mr. Poofers supposed to die?

{Cut to Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Aw, man! Did it happen again?! Every time I try and tell a spooky Mr. Poofers story&mdash;

{Cut to Marzipan.}

MARZIPAN: Which has now been exactly one time.

{Cut to Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: &mdash;he always survives! I thought, if I could finally kill him off, it would definitely become a top-notch four-and-a-half-stars-with-over-six-hundred-reviews-quality ghost story.

{Cut to Bubs.}

BUBS: But it didn't even sound like you tried to off Mr. Poofers in the first place.

{Cut to Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Oh, but I did. Watch this: I'm about to say "Then Mr. Poofers' head fell off and he died, died, died." Ahem.

{Cut to Mr. Poofers walking down the street.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Mr. Poofers was thinking about a branch, {a thought bubble with a branch appears over his head} a hotel, {the bubble expands an a hotel labeled "OH SWELL" is added} and a $350 pair of loafers.

{The bubble expands and a pair of brown shoes marked "350" is added. Then it disappears and Mr. Poofers spins, looking like a tornado.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {voiceover} Gee whiz! That's a lot of Kansas match<!-- ??? --> right there!

{Mr. Poofers strikes a triumphant pose. The image poofs away and cuts back to Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: See? It's like somethin' takes a hold of ya when you're telling a Mr. Poofers story!

{Cut to Coach Z.}

COACH Z: Eh, what a bunch of balarney. Ain't nobaddy can get fatally irresponsible with an animal like Coach Z! Let me take a whack at it. And I'll try and finish your story too!

{Cut to Mr. Poofers and Old Man Rootbeer standing next to each other near a wall.}

COACH Z: {voiceover} Look, gentlemen! A roundish box!

{A roundish box drops into the scene as both characters take a step back.}

COACH Z: {voiceover} Mr. Poofers {the "oo" is pronounced as in the word "hook"} pretended there was such thing as a roundish box.

{Mr. Poofers pushes it toward Rootbeer.}

COACH Z: {voiceover} He gave it to Old M'n Rootber, {The "oo" is again pronounced as in "hook". Rootbeer scratches his head} who absolutely had not asked for it. {as Rootbeer:} This better be replacement pimecones! {normally} Belted Old M'n Rootber.

{Rootbeer reaches into the box and produces a broken half of a brush with brown hairs stuck to it as an electric sound effect is heard. He looks at it, puzzled.}

COACH Z: {voiceover} It was harlf a hairbrush.

{Rootbeer turns the brush over. The scene poofs away as we cut back to Coach Z, whose face covered in sweat.}

COACH Z: {freaked out} Ooooohhhh! That wasn't me! That wasn't me! I tried to kill 'im! I swear!

{Cut to Marzipan}

MARZIPAN: Oh, shut up, Coach Z, you infant. I'll kill the stupid dog.

{Cut to Mr. Poofers sitting on a tiled floor.}

MARZIPAN: {voiceover} "Miffa meeka" {Mr. Poofers's mouth opens wide as those words exit through it.} said Mr. Poofers, out of his entire mouth. Mr. Poofers never complains, except once&mdash;

{Scene shifts to Mr. Poofers looking at a table as a bowl of pudding, with a hair sticking out of it, slides in front of him.}

MARZIPAN: {voiceover} &mdash;in a cafeteria, with bad, bad pudding.

{Mr. Poofers knocks it away angrily.}

MARZIPAN: {voiceover} I mean, have you ever&mdash;

{The scene poofs away and cuts back to Marzipan, whose face is also covered in sweat.}

MARZIPAN: {distraught} I was wrong! I was so wrong!

{Pan over to Strong Sad.}

STRONG SAD: Oooh, this is getting supernaturally interesting! All right, Poofers, it's time for you to face... the Deathly Pallor! {closes his eyes, tenses up, and starts wiggling his fingers} I invoke protections from the third arcane level and send my mind into the psychic vault! You shall not break through! {opens his eyes and holds his arms wide}

{Cut to Mr. Poofers}

STRONG SAD: {voiceover} Pimecone.

{A pine cone appears. The scene then poofs away and cuts back to Strong Sad, whose face is also covered in sweat, and whose fingers are still twitching.}

STRONG SAD: {panicking} Oooohhh! Oohhh! Lemme out! It was horrible! {The Poopsmith puts his hand on Strong Sad's shoulder.} It was like Homestar's imagination was gushing out of my mouth like fire!

{Homestar leans into the scene}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {chuckling} I know, right?

{Cut to Strong Bad.}

STRONG BAD: Okay, fine. We all knew it was coming down to this anyway. I will mark Mr. Poofers for you sad sacks! {mutters to himself:} All right, concentrate, Strong Bad. Keep your mind strong! {lifts his head} Bad! See what I did&mdash;

EVERYONE ELSE: Yes!

STRONG BAD: Okay, sorry.

{Cut to an image of Mr. Poofers on a path, with Old Man Rootbeer standing in the distance.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} It was nearly sunset.

{Mr. Poofers suddenly puffs out, then slowly returns to normal.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} Old Man Rootbeer stood at the end of the ???&mdash;

{Zoom in on Rootbeer, and a flamethrower appears behind him.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} &mdash;flamethrower slung 'cross his back. {as Rootbeer:} You ate one pimecone too many, Mr. Poofers! {normally} Harkened Old M. R... Beer.

{Rootbeer grabs the flamethrower and aims it.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} He took dead aim on Mr. ... {he shows signs of starting to struggle to speak} Poofers...

{Strong Bad appears in the corner of the screen, his face covered in sweat.}

STRONG BAD: Dead aim, you see! And then...

{Cut to Rootbeer holding the flamethrower, whose tip comes aflame.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover} ...he... pulled... the tr&mdash; trrrr&mdash; trrrrrr&mdash;

{Sudden cut to a trolley labeled "O.M.R.B." with "POOFERS AVE." marked as its destination. Rootbeer is riding the trolley, smiling widely.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover, singing} Trolley 'round the block and then he gave it a ding!

{The trolley's bell rings: Ding! Cut to another view of the trolley, with Mr. Poofers now riding it too.}

STRONG BAD: {voiceover, singing} Mr. Poofers hopped aboard and they began to sing! How could we ever, how come we never&mdash;

{Cut back to the main characters. As they sing, the words appear above them.}

EVERYONE: {singing} Why can't we slice that pie?

{Strong Bad collapses.}

STRONG BAD: Awwwww! It's no use! Mr. Poofers is too powerful!

{Cut to Homestar.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Well, I guess we'll just have to start worshiping Mr. Poofers as our dark overlord.

{All overlapping each other:}

STRONG BAD: Eh, sounds good to me.<br />
THE KING OF TOWN: Yeah, sure.<br />
MARZIPAN: I'll try anything once.<br />
STRONG MAD: {unintelligible}<br />
BUBS: {unintelligible}<br />
COACH Z: {unintelligible}<br />
STRONG SAD: Well, I'm down.

HOMESTAR RUNNER: All hail Mr. Poofers.

EVERYONE: Miffa miffa meeka moo!

{As the music picks up, cut to outside Homestar's house, as a ghostly image of Mr. Poofers rises over it. Then cut to a Bookazon page for "Mr. Poofers Must Die: Homestar's Top-Notch Ghost Story", which starts with no stars and -4 customer reviews, but raises to four and a half stars and 601 reviews. Then, fade to The Field, where everyone is standing in costume. "Homestar as Dirk the Daring" appears next to Homestar.}

STRONG BAD: Hey, Homestar, nice Dork the Daring costume!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Yeah, that's who I dressed up as. Dirk {sounds like "dork" due to Homestar's speech patterns} the Daring.

STRONG BAD: No, no, I said Dork the Daring!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Right, right, Diiiiirk the Daring!

STRONG BAD: {groans, then quickly:} Hey Homestar, Duck left!

{The caption disappears as a yellow light flashes on the left side of the screen and Homestar dodges to the left.}

STRONG BAD: No, right!

{A yellow light flashes on the right side of the screen and Homestar dodges right.}

STRONG BAD: No, sword!

STRONG BAD: No, left sword!

{A yellow sword blinks to Homestar's left. Then, sad music from Dragon's Lair plays as Homestar turns into a skeleton.}

STRONG BAD: Aw, man!

{Homestar's skeleton collapses.}

STRONG BAD: Mooooom! Can I have 75 more dollars in quarters?

{Homestar returns to normal with a flash. A box reading "Strong Bad as Viewtiful Joe" appears.}

STRONG BAD: Henshin-a-go-go, baby! That's... all that I remember from that game. Cool shading, maybe? Slow-mo? {His scarf starts to move.} Scarf... effects?

{The box disappears but reappears near Marzipan reading "Marzipan as J. Mascis".}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Marzipan. I really like your thrift store Gandalf costume.

STRONG SAD: Hey, Marzipan! Where you been?

STRONG BAD: Yeah, nobody gets that!

STRONG SAD: {clearly amused} Hey, Marzipan! You're living all over me! Mm-hm?

STRONG BAD: No one gets it!

STRONG SAD: That's okay! Whatever's cool with me!

MARZIPAN: Yeah, I get the joke, Strong Sad, and it's still really lame.

{The box disappears and reappears next to Strong Mad, reading "Strong Mad as Kano".}
STRONG BAD: Buddy?

STRONG MAD: FUNNY JOKE ABOUT MY COSTUME?

STRONG BAD: No, big fella. There are no jokes about your costume. Because no one knows who it is.

{A question mark appears in the box, making it "Strong Mad as Kano?"}

STRONG MAD: BUT JUDGE DREDD!

STRONG BAD: Yeah, but you didn't dress up as Judge Dredd, did you?

STRONG MAD: ... BUT PROXIMITY TO JUDGE DREDD!

STRONG BAD: I'm sorry. It's not enough. You're just blue Frankenstein. Better luck next year.

{Strong Mad cries. The box disappears.}

STRONG BAD: Uh, Coach Z?

{The box appears near Coach Z and Pom Pom, reading "Coach Z & Pom Pom as Missy Elliot".}

STRONG BAD: Do I even wanna know how you and Pom Pom are pulling this costume off?

COACH Z: I can assure you: you do not.

{Pom Pom's head pops out.}

POM POM: {bubbles}

COACH Z: Get back in there!

{One of the costume's hands pushes Pom Pom's head back in. The box disappears and reappears next to The Poopsmith, reading "Poopsmith as a Sea Monkey".}

THE KING OF TOWN: Y'all think that's the Poopsmith...

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {whispering} This is gonna be about food.

THE KING OF TOWN: But in reality...

HOMESTAR RUNNER: It's gonna be about food.

THE KING OF TOWN: I finally bred sea monkeys large enough to make sea monkey po'boys!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Yup, I told ya: about food.

{Cut to Homsar standing on Homestar's porch.}

HOMSAR: IIiiIIiiII've got hyperlinks stashed-a-mundo!

{The box appears reading "Homsar as David St. Hubbins". Homestar pokes out of the door.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, Homsar! I really like your "Doug Henning made his own mustache disappear" costume! {Goes back inside, but then immediately pops out again} It's really good! {Goes back inside, waits a moment, and then pops out again} Still like your costume!

{He goes back inside one final time as the scene cuts back to The Field. The box appears next to the King of Town, reading "King of Town as Little Debbie".}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: King of Town? Spot-on Little Debbie costume! Bubs? Serviceable Little Debbie's Dad costume.

THE KING OF TOWN: I always figured Little Debbie was the snack child of Lord Baldrick Entenmann and Dame Sara Lee!

{The box disappears and reappears next to Bubs, reading "Bubs as Stan S. Stanman".}

COACH Z: Say, Bubs. Can ya sell me any previously-owned vessels?

BUBS: {flailing his arms wildly} Check it out check it out check it out check it out check it out check it out check it out check it out check it out check it out!

{The scene cuts to a fake "Up Next" screen for "The Cheat Commandos Arbor Day Special", showing the Homestar puppet with a single cyclops eye in place of its usual eyes, and figurines of Reynold, Gunhaver, and Silent Rip in its mouth.
NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Say, what's that, Character 1? Why, it looks like someone's left out the cushion from a papasan chair, that's right.

{Character 1 leans on the fluff.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Real comfortable. Take a nap.

{Mr. Poofers's eyes and tongue appear in the "fluff". Character 1 jumps back.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Say, that's no cushion!

{Mr. Poofers stands up.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Why, it's some sort of beast of the apocalypse!

{Mr. Poofers yawns.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Say, Beast of the Apocalypse!

{Mr. Poofers opens his eyes upon being addressed.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: You look like you might need to be a little bit appeased.

{Mr. Poofers puffs his fur out.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Is that right? Well, you know what that means, Character 1!

{An orange falls from the sky in front of Character 1.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: A little bit of sacrificial fruit, that's right.

{Character 1 catches the orange as Mr. Poofers turns around and opens his mouth. Character 1 throws the orange into his mouth.}

NARRATOR STRONG BAD: Make an offering. Avert the apocalypse. Far out.
I can truly say without altercations that the SRMX 1.2 turned my life around! It filled a hole in my life that I didn't even know existed. It's just incredibly triffic. I would order sev:eral more if I had the cash! I would highly recommend the SRMX 1.2 to anyone within a 20-mile radius. Again, may I say, triffic!</div>&nbsp;
This rather disappointing product left a sizeable dent in my proverbial wallet. DO NOT BUY the SRMX 1.2! It falls apart after a few days and the overhead is through the roof. For all the hype it's really not worth it. Save your money for the 1.3 model, or just build your own for free out of sticks and lawn equipment.</div>&nbsp;
I remember when I used to think there weren't any products like this on the market. But now, they're are! I bought the SRMX for my kids and my dog and I have to say it's a truly satisfying product leaving me with a truly satisfying experience. Keep on making these products and being the best you can be! I would upgrade my vote to a 5-star if you gave me a third one for free.</div>&nbsp;

StrongBadZone is a vector graphics game that plays similarly to the Diamonds 3D game for the PC and Mac. You are a spikey-headed cyber-shield guy (with a cyber-shield) trying to block "perplexing 3D geometric attacks" that come flipping toward you. If you hit them, they bounce back. The object of the game is to try to hit Vector Strong Bad's head until it disappears. The game's graphical style appears to be a reference to Nintendo's ill-fated 3D system, the Virtual Boy. The graphics of the console were well-known for solely consisting of the colors red and black, much like those in StrongBadZone. In particular, the game stylistically resembles the Virtual Boy vector game Red Alarm, which at one point also features a large face that must be destroyed. StrongBadZone first appeared in the Strong Bad Email video games, and is the source of the quote, "Your head a splode!" (and variants such as "Your phone a splode!"and "Well, my head a splode!").

This game can be accessed from the email video games, as well as the Scrolling Shooter Games Menu.

Note: You actually can't win or lose the original version of the game. When your head a splodes, you just continue the game. And when you destroy Strong Bad's head, a new one appears, except in the Wii version.
Instructions
<blockquote>Move left and right with arrow keys<br>
Hit 'A' for shield left<br>
Hit 'S' for shield center<br>
Hit 'D' for shield right<br>
Try to hit Strong Bad's big head<br>
Click to start</blockquote>

Fun Facts
Trivia
* An otherwise unused sequence of "BACK OFF BABY" is found at the end of the Flash file.
** On some systems it can be heard by right-clicking on the game and leaving the menu up when Vector Strong Bad says "YOUR HEAD A SPLODE", then waiting a couple of seconds.
** This sequence plays when you beat the Wii version of the game. A typo in the code caused it not to play in the original.
***In the original, using a seek bar reveals that Vector Strong Bad breaks apart in the sequence. In the Viidelectrix version, he doesn't.
*If the cyber-shield guy and Vector Strong Bad are positioned just right, right-clicking the screen and pressing either the PLAY button or the BACK button (on the Flash file version of the game) will result in the guy and Vector Strong Bad 'freezing', but the object thrown at the guy will continue to bounce off of his shield and proceed to hit Vector Strong Bad, eventually killing him and making a new head appear. But when you press play again, if the object bounced off of the guy at all it will make 'your head a splode' and treat the player as though the guy had been hit.
**In the Wii version, however, doing so makes it treat the player as though Vector Strong Bad has been defeated.

Glitches
* Very rarely, when Vector Strong Bad's attack hits his wall, he will speed up greatly for a few seconds and then return to normal speed, but the projectile will be stuck in the back of the room moving back and forth.
** There is a glitch when playing the Wii version - rarely, when the projectile hits the top left or top right of the area, it stays stuck along that side, no matter if you allow it to "a splode" your head, deflect it, or miss it, forcing the player to have to refresh the game.
* Another glitch involves the projectile apparently hitting the shield as though it has hit the back wall. If you deflect the projectile, it will move along the exact line it came at you and will continue to do so for as long as the file is loaded (it cannot be fixed no matter which direction you raise the shield or whether you dodge the projectile or allow your head to a splode).
**This has been fixed in the Wii version.
*In the Wii Version, if you manage to completely destroy Vector Strong Bad's head and have the projectile hit the player at the same time, the Cyber-Shield guy disappears without explosion, and only Vector Strong Bad's eyes are on-screen when he says "BACK OFF BABY".

Inside References
*The page title "I Strong Bad, I Hunger" is similar to the page titles of RhinoFeeder ("I Rhino, I Hunger") and Thy Dungeonman ("Thy Dungeonman, Thy Hunger"). (See also Real-World References.)
*The game's music is similar to the music that plays in Where's The Cheat? during the "montage", as well as the end of little animal.

Real-World References
* The page title is a possible reference to the old arcade game Sinistar. In Sinistar, you battled a large spaceship shaped like a head that would say, "I hunger!". (See also Inside References.)
**In addition, Strong Bad's floating head is a reference to Sinistar's giant head that would also have to be destroyed piece by piece. The voice also somewhat resembles Sinistar's voice.
*The name is derived from Battlezone, another game with vector graphics.
*The game is a parody of the 36th level of the NES game Arkanoid, where the player battles "DOH", a vector-based floating head who fires square projectiles from his mouth.

Viidelectrix
There are several differences between the original version of the game and the Viidelectrix version.
*The instructions are different:
<blockquote>
Move left and right with Wiimote<br>
Point to above+left of player for shield left<br>
Point to above+right of player for shield right<br>
Point to above+center of player for shield center<br>
Using shield stops movement<br>
Try to hit Strong Bad's big head<br>
Press 'A' to start
</blockquote>
*The controls have been modified for the Wii Remote. When accessing the game from a computer, the character follows the mouse.
*A scoring system was added &ndash; the score counts how long it takes you to win (in seconds, not counting time spent while your head a splodes). A lower score is better.
**The default best score, 10000, corresponds to a game taking 2 hours, 46 minutes and 40 seconds.
*The shield can be used for as long as the player wants, instead of for a second. However, using it also stops the player from moving.
*The game music plays in the Viidelectrix version.
*Using the shield actually points the projectile in the direction the shield is facing when it hits it.
*If the shield was at center position, the projectile will bounce off normally with no direction change.
*The "BACK OFF BABY" sequence is used when Vector Strong Bad has been completely destroyed, as noted above. The game then restarts.
*When "YOUR HEAD A SPLODE," Vector Strong Bad rebuilds himself by one hit each time. <!-- Rephrase? -->
*If the projectile misses your character, a new projectile is shot from Vector Strong Bad's position, rather than appearing in the position it disappeared at. <!-- Rephrase! --> See Glitches for more information.
*Each time you hit Vector Strong Bad, he groans, but more of monotone "Ah".
*If your head a splodes, the projectile will continue spinning, as opposed to freezing.
*If your head a splodes in the short time between the eyes exploding and 'Back Off Baby', the eyes will respawn like any other part.
*Each time you deflect the projectile, it speeds up.
*As I understand it, Strong Bad does not type with boxing gloves on his hands, his hands are boxing gloves the same way Homestar, Marzipan, Homsar, and the King of Town don't have arms. -- The Real Zajac 20:20, 4 Jan 2005 (PST)

:Stinkoman's question would probably be "How do you type with fighting gloves on?' right?
Title
Is there any way to shorten this? It is a pretty awkward title. 01:54, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
:It's not that bad. Before shortening, Count Longardeaux's Book was way longer. It took up two lines. I like it the way it is, but I will present a suggestion anyway: Typing with Boxing Gloves. --DorianGray
::Aw, this is an awesome title! If you need to shorten it in an article, you can always use a piped link. But this really isn't something that gets linked to every day.
I think Strong Bad has Technokinesis or short range Telekinesis. - BlackWidower 22:59, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

no, he probly has one of those thigs that allows u to type by talking into it, which would also explain how the text changes when he changes tone, something about that was in one of the commentaries, cant remember which one it was

: Or maybe it is just some running gag in a dumb kid show about dumb animal characters. Geez, not even I am this worked up over stuff like that.
::Or maybe this conversation is over 3 years old and you ARE getting worked up about it... 22:46, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

:::The main problem with the talking theory is that in pom pom, he talked clear English and random letters still appeared on the screen. I think he just types normally. I mean, try typing with oven mitts or boxing gloves. I bet you can type normally. 7 March 2010
Do we really need to capitalize every word in this title? How about only the first word, ala What are you supposed to be? 03:35, 2 January 2006 (UTC)

How he types W.B.G.O
I think I know how he types With boxing gloves on. When he goes to his compy/lappy/tandy he takes them off and keeps them on top of his hands with the string. He probably also puts his fingers right on the keys so nobody sees his fingers. 23:54, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Per Talk:Painting_of_a_Guy_with_a_Big_Knife#Capitalization I would like to suggest that this page be moved to How do you type with boxing gloves on?. However, a redirect already exists in that page and since I'm not an admin, I cannot move this page into the redirect (with a rather colorful, <!-- this link only works before the move, once the move is complete it will no longer make sense -->); how is it that a troll noticed something we hadn't!? Anyway, I digress, as usual. I'm not sure if the capitalization issue has been completely settled, but I think there is enough agreement for this one to go ahead. Questions? Comments?
no, he probly has one of those thigs that allows u to type by talking into it, which would also explain how the text changes when he changes tone, something about that was in one of the commentaries, cant remember which one it was

: Or maybe it is just some running gag in a dumb kid show about dumb animal characters. Geez, not even I am this worked up over stuff like that.

:::The main problem with the talking theory is that in pom pom, he talked clear English and random letters still appeared on the screen. I think he just types normally. I mean, try typing with oven mitts or boxing gloves. I bet you can type normally. 7 March 2010
