== Possible inside reference ==

I noticed on the STUFF page that there was a proposed fun fact about "A cinematic breakfast snack of some kind!" which was declined. I was surprised no one suggested a reference to rock opera's "SBEmail is a triumph of some kind" since that's what I immediately thought of. Any thoughts? [[User:So makey outy|So makey outy]] 05:58, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
:Actually, I went back and read the transcript and it says "SBEMAIL! Is a Triumph of Some Sort!!!" It's still kind of similar. [[User:So makey outy|So makey outy]] 06:00, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

It's "Rogan Josh" pot pie. Lamb curry. Yum.
:Seconded. I think I'll have to get Indian food for lunch today. Also, Rogan Josh is not normally (or ever, as far as I can tell) served in a pot pie. But it does sound good. [[User:Aaronstj|Aaronstj]] 18:46, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Does anyone else think "Things that go Dump in the Night" is also a reference to [[Saddy Dumpington]]?
:I'd say it's more just a reference to the tendency for Strong Bad to use the word "dump" in describing Strong Sad. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 03:59, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
::Yeah, Strong Bad uses "dump" to describe Strong Sad all the time... "Dumpus" in [[autobiography]], "biggest waste of dump" in [[record book]]... The list goes on. --[[User:DorianGray|DorianGray]]
:The fact that you were able to think of that many examples means this is probably TTATOT; i.e., since it could be a reference to many things, it's probably a reference to nothing. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 04:05, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
::Could someone '''please''' tell me what the heck TTATOT stands for? ~[[User:Bruce|Bruce]]

:Im not suggesting that this be STUFFed, but 'Lugnut & Squeak' do have the same beginning letters as "Lilo and Stitch" and kinda the same sound, but the characters arent really similar, so its more of a genre thing than a reference...(it is too:late AM here, sry if i not making sense) {{User:Csours/sig}} 08:29, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

:seems to me that its a reference to the buddy movie genre (if there can be said to be such a thing) in general and not one specific buddy movie.

::And, specifically, mismatched pairs. The Odd Couple have been mentioned; I'd add Starsky & Hutch, Rush Hour, High Noon, Pinky & The Brain, Abbott & Costello, Don Quixote & Sancho Panzo (leaving cinema now), Calvin & Hobbes, Garfield & Odie... == Interesting ==

An annony recently suggested that Strong Bad's reading the sender's name as "Grossman" might be a reference to the fact that this is Email #144, i.e., one gross. I felt this had to be a coincidence, so I removed the reference, but I thought it was an interesting enough coincidence to be worth mentioning here on the talk page. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 05:53, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I suggest it also, especially considering that there are several 'gross' references in the email->grossman (+gross easter egg), groaty (sp?) ethnic food, gross octopus, gross boogers on the napkin snotballs, gross relationship stuff (possible double entendre dork reference there, but thats too tenuous for even mentioning), gross dead goose. poopsmith... nuff said. {{User:Csours/sig}} 07:36, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
:OK, that's three people who have favored this reference. I guess it's worthy of a STUFFing. See you at the polls. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 07:39, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

== French or Canadian Accent ==

The statement regarding "Whatzeet all aboot" being a French or Canadian accented version of "What's it all about" is a fairly obtuse observation. It is analagous to dubbing a Southern accent or New York accent as being American. I have yet to meet a Canadian who says "Whatzeet". Also, pronouncing the word "about" as "aboot" is not a national phenomonon. I can't vouch for the French, but I'm pretty sure that they wouldn't say "aboot" either.
:We are discussing a stereotype, though. Whether the stereotype is fair or correct, if it's something that a large number of people think of right away, it's a stereotype. The phrase "stereotypical French or Canadian accent" (possibly French Canadian?) is what was used here, and it means exactly that: A stereotype played on the French and/or Canadians. I hear people make fun of that style of speaking all the time and attribute it to Canadians. {{User:KieferSkunk/sig}} 22:40, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
::And to be fair, I hear a lot of people refer to the Texas Drawl as a stereotypical American accent as well. :) {{User:KieferSkunk/sig}} 22:40, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
:::"Aboot" actually makes me think more of the Scots than French/French Canadians. Maybe some Scots-French Canadian hybrid? ;) --[[User:H-ko|H-ko]] 00:40, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
::::Or possibly of [[User:Thunderbird|Scotland and Ontario]]? :-) {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 00:43, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
The first thing I thought was Canadian. I know Canadians don't talk like that, but people say they do. That's what it was. Possibly French-Canadian, but not French or Scottish. {{User:Salty/sig}} 01:17, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
:But there's no reason for Canadian. The only reason people are thinking French is because of its mention in "smelly French studio." I propose not commenting on it at all; if the connection is so evident (it seems many of us made it), it doesn't need explaining. (And "aboot" makes me think Aussie!) &mdash;[[User:AbdiViklas|AbdiViklas]] 02:42, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
== Fun Facts- Inside references- nebulon's style ==
marzipan alien cow says she admires nebulon's style, not that she likes it. is this a reference to the kind of thing that people say when they break up, ie I admire your convictions, but you're a weirdo. {{User:Csours/sig}} 08:36, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
::To say you admire something means you like it. Using your example, "I admire your convictions, but you're a weirdo." is the same thing as saying "I like your convictions, but you're a weirdo." So yes, she does, in effect, say that she likes Nebulon's style. ~[[User:Bruce|Bruce]]

:::I still disagree, but i wont change it. {{User:Csours/sig}} 21:11, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
::::You ''can'' like something about someone and still dislike them as a whole. {{User:KieferSkunk/sig}} 22:41, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
:::::I agree with KieferSkunk - like and admire aren't necessarily the same thing at all. From Dictionary.com:
:::::Admire - 1. To regard with pleasure, wonder, and approval. 2. To have a high opinion of; esteem or respect.
:::::Like - 1. To find pleasant or attractive; enjoy. 2. To want to have.
:::::So you could respect someone but not like them as an individual.--[[User:H-ko|H-ko]] 00:49, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
:::::::Definition #1 of ''admire'' and definition #1 of ''like'' are basically the same thing. "To regard with pleasure" and "to find pleasant"? Sounds like the same thing to me. But really, this whole argument is a false dilemma. Marzipan Alien Cow never said she likes Nebulon as an individual, just that she admired his style. I never argued otherwise. ~[[User:Bruce|Bruce]]
Hi all... long-time reader, first-time editor. *grin* A day or so before I first saw this email, I had run across LiquidGeneration.com's "Sabotage" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prank_flash/ shock flashes], specifically one purporting to be a colorblindness test. It may not be anything, but I think that the sound effect of the dead goose jumping out at Strong Sad may be the same as the sound effect that comes with the "shock" part of these flashes. I was jumping out of my skin for days after watching that flash the first time, so I am not keen to go back and check. If a braver soul than I wishes to investigate the matter, you can watch the flash at www dot liquidgeneration dot com slash content slash a55hat.asp?cid=316 (yes, it's a shock flash... you have been warned!). Also, it seems like the "dead goose" thing should be a reference to a specific scene in a movie or something... does anyone know? - [[User:70.252.171.100|70.252.171.100]] 18:20, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
:I checked it out, and the sound effects are not really all that much alike. The shock flash's scream is extremely distorted, so it's difficult to hear anything at all in it. The goose sound effect here sounds more like a distortion guitar riff. I think if there's any reference to be made here, it's simply to the "shock-thriller" genre of movies, where you never know what's going to happen next. {{User:KieferSkunk/sig}} 21:25, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
Was teh whole thing about a french film with no plot or dialogue a reference to the Tripletes of belleville? (sign your posts)
:[[Strong Bad is a Bad Guy|IT'S POSSIBLE!!!]] But Triplets of Belleville is one really obscure film - that's something I think TBC would have to confirm for us before we could really note it. (Also, that movie did have a plot, albeit a kinda thin one.) {{User:KieferSkunk/sig}} 01:29, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

'''Awexome Cross''' (pronounced "awesome cross") is an apparently annual event that is held in [[Strong Badia]]. According to the email [[monster truck]], the last time it occurred was in 1998. [[Strong Bad]] does the voiceover for the advertisements for the event. Some of the main attractions include [[The Cheat]] attempting to jump the [[Tire]] over [[The King of Town]] eating a [[Cardboard Boxes|cardboard box]] covered in syrup, [[Strong Mad]] smashing [[Marzipan|Marzipan's]] [[Carol|guitar]] over [[Homestar Runner|Homestar's]] head, and [[The Poopsmith]] lighting some smoke bombs. There is also a free performance after the show by [[Limozeen]], in which they sing [[Because It's Midnite]]. The tickets for adults are cheap at only 5 dollars, although kids and old people are not permitted without a bucket of fried chicken for Strong Bad. Whether it will be held again remains a mystery.
You can determine the file path to the image and use that, so when I type <nowiki>http://www.hrwiki.org/images/2/23/Qermaqsigpic.png</nowiki> I get http://www.hrwiki.org/images/2/23/Qermaqsigpic.png. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 23:11, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

:::Is [[:Image:homestarrunner 1895 340365.jpg|this]] the image you want? If it is, just type: <nowiki>[[Image:homestarrunner 1895 340365.jpg|thumb|A cool description]]</nowiki> Hope that helps. {{User:Thunderbird L17/Siggie}} 23:13, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
==Puppet Stuff User Box Template==
Should there be a template for our user boxes if we like the Puppet Stuff? - ''[[User:Maggot Man|Maggot Man]] 00:51, 1 June 2006 (UTC)''

:There can be. Try experimenting in the [[HRWiki:Sandbox|Sandbox]] using an existing userbox as a template. If you come up with one, put it on your user page, and if people like it, add it to the Userbox page. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 03:16, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
==Link Color==
Is there a way to change the color of the font of links? - [[User:Thnikkaguy|Thnikkaguy]]

[http://www.hrwiki.org/index.php?title=HRWiki_talk:FAQ&action=edit&section=29 <span style="color:green">Yes there is!</span>] You simply need to style the text within the link itself. See the [[super powers|<span style="color:turquoise">source</span>]] of my comment to see how. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 03:22, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. -[[User:Thnikkaguy|Thnikkaguy]]
