Actually, I was going to use the Limozeen card as a picture, but I got caught in an edit conflict because of the "Friggin Cheat" picture. I like this better than Limozeen. - 16:39, 4 February 2006 (UTC)

:Yeah, me too. I didn't even know the Limozeen image existed. 16:41, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
The bigger, the better
Has anyone ever thought of the size of the index cards? I mean, on the index cards I use, a general sized mug would make a ring on the card that is over half of the cards surface! On these cards, the rings are much smaller than the card itself, meaning that either whoever made the stain was using like, a shot glass or something, or those cards are much bigger than the ones generally used. Does anyone think that this is either odd or vaguely notable? 19:36, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Index cards are frequently seen throughout the Homestar Runner universe. More often than not, there is a visible coffee ring stain seen on them. Most of the index cards that are seen have been written on by Strong Bad.

Appearances
*Homestar Quiz &mdash; If you get all ten questions correct, Strong Bad will give you a recipe for The Poopsmith's You-Know-What cookies on a coffee-stained index card.
*The Luau &mdash; The invitation to Strong Bad's Marshmallow Roast is written on one of these index cards.
*Email band names &mdash; The logos for the bands Lazor, Bigg Nife, Taranchula and Limozeen are seen on these cards.
*Email local news &mdash; Index cards are used for Strong Bad's local news program to introduce anchorperson Strong Bad, "Sportscarster" Strong Mad, weatherman Tire and "The Friggin Cheat" for "Sky-Cheat Traffic".
*Email secret recipes &mdash; Many of Strong Bad's family recipes are written on index cards. The "The Chekt" recipe does not have a coffee stain on it, but a watermark reading "Bumdumbourge '96".
*Email record book &mdash; Some pictures on index cards appear in an Easter egg.
*Email retirement &mdash; Marshie instructs viewers to email who they think stole Strong Bad's Lappy on an index card.
Funniest game ever. Play it. Now. Seriously. 216.244.37.199

Who are you? -Kinsey

You know, the tunnel in this game kinda looks like the tunnel shown on the targeting computer in Star Wars Episode IV.-Homsar Runner

Yeah, it kinda does. Should that be listed as a fun fact, or just be forgotten forever?

I just played this game, and all the messages came up normally through the message at 56. Then I didn't get the poutine message until after obstacle 71, and the call it quits message at 78. Weird.70.224.207.92 01:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
the shark in list of messages
hey um. the shark doesnt have periods (.) after it in the list of messages, ie:
*shark:
**Fight: It was a shark It bites your fists off. Too bad. *-1 point*
**Talk: It was a shark Quint calls out to you from the depths of the shark's belly with some keen fishing tips. *+2 points*
**Jump: It was a shark You jump the shark. Just like Homestarrunner.com. *0 points*

should it look like this:<br>

*shark:
**Fight: It was a shark. It bites your fists off. Too bad. *-1 point*
**Talk: It was a shark. Quint calls out to you from the depths of the shark's belly with some keen fishing tips. *+2 points*
**Jump: It was a shark. You jump the shark. Just like Homestarrunner.com. *0 points*

or are the periods missing in-game too? 03:34, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
:found the answer to my own questions in the xml file. =\. the periods are missing in game too 03:36, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
::Yep, missing in-game. Weird, huh? --DorianGray
:::better go email strongbad so he can ficks it. 03:38, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
changing file?
Can someone help me? I read on the article that it's possible to change the answers through the xmf file or something but I'm not sure how that works... Thanks! -Cyndi
:That's easy! Feel free to follow along with my simple step-by-step instructions. I make XML-editing FUN!!
:# First, save the SWF (the Flash file) and the XML file to your hard drive. Save them both in the same folder for easy access.
:# Right-click on the XML file, and choose "Open with..."
:# Select the text-editor of your choice. Notepad works best, due to its simple format.
:# Now you have your XML file open for editing. Everything between the tags labelled "<code><hallrunner></code>" will be included in the game. Each object is offset by "<code><q></code>". The object name is identified with the "<code><obj></code>" tag, and the replies are identified by the "<code><a></code>" tag, which also includes the point value.
:# Pick an object. It can be anything you want. For example, let's say... The Cheat.
:# Alter the existing code to whatever you like. It's easiest to just look at the existing code and changing what you need. The top item in the "<code><a></code>" list is the response for choosing "FIGHT IT", the second is for "TALK TO IT", and the third for "JUMP IT". You can assign different replies, objects, and even change the point values. Soon you'll have a totally customised Hallrunner game of your very own. Have fun!
:# Make sure to SAVE your XML file when you're done editing it. Do not rename the file, or the game will not recognise it.
:Hope that helps. =3 Enjoy yourself, everyone who actually reads this. --DorianGray
::Cool! I edited the XML file but I'm having trouble opening the SWF file... Do I need to download something for that? -Cyndi
:::Usually you can open it in your favorite browser (IE, Firefox), unless you have IE 7, which I'm pretty sure has a bug that doesn't let you read swf files. If you do have IE 7, then just save the html file onto the same place and open that. This looks really cool...I should try it. :D - 18:24, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Odell Woods?
The options to "Fight it," "Jump over it," and "Talk to it" are a lot like the similar options you get in the old Apple II game Odell Woods, where whenever you "come up on" an obstacle (which is more greatly described in the game,) you have the option to "Run from it," "Ignore it," "Eat it," and "Chase it." Is this notable, or should it be forever relegated to the dustbin of HRWiki History? --President Cold One 11:10, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
:There were a number of games in that time period that used these types of commands and options. I can't think of the names of any off the top of my head, so I can't say don't add it, but if you do it may end up being considered TTATO. - 13:27, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Just Random
If you played the game with a perfect score, at (+2 points per round), 3 rounds per minute, 60 minutes per hour, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year (366 on leap years {Although according to Wikipedia, every 100th year that does not multiply with 400 is not a leap year}) for 120 years, it would be possible to get to 378,683,424 points. Of course, the average life expectancy needs to be more than 120 years of age, even for the biggest computer addict. 154.5.181.164
Date?
While working on Horses, I noticed that both Peasant's Quest and Hallrunner have a date of August 2, 2004, but while Peasant's Quest correctly says it was a Monday, Hallrunner claims it was a Tuesday. Do we know the correct date for Hallrunner? Something must be wrong, even if just the weekday. The page was created without any real information on the 14th September 2004. Then this diff on the 15th describes the gameplay but does not link to it. This diff (16th September 2004) is the first to show the responses and link to the game. -- Mithent 17:53, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

*On some computers, the game will remember your score and the number of obstacles you've faced even after clearing your browser's cache and deleting your cookies.
**On some computers, if you right click the game, choose "Settings," choose the folder tab, and drag the slider all the way to the left, you can delete all the information videlectrix.com has stored on your computer. Closing the window and restarting the game will give a prompt on whether to let it store info; denying will just make it ask again in next time your score changes.
*If you choose "Fight" for each object once, you'd have 1 point. "Talk" would get you 15 points, and "Jump" would get you 14 points.
*Allowing an object to hit your runner results in a loss of ten points.
