What's Her Face

Thejason: /* Biography */ different word choice

[[Image:tgs-whatface.PNG|thumb|right|220px|"Dag, yo"]]
[[Image:Kiddie_Whats_Her_Face.PNG|thumb|right|220px|She can count to G.]]
[[Image:What's-her-face_color.png|thumb|right|220px|Dag, yo, she's in color.]]

'''What's Her [[Names Ending in -face|Face]]''' is the "pity friend" member of the [[Teen Girl Squad]] who is distinguished mainly by her common sense and, consequently, mistreatment from the other members of the squad.

==Biography==
What's Her Face is slightly dumpy-looking. She has a few strings of long, apparently black hair, and dresses in a modest T-shirt and pants. She has held her driver's license for over a year, suggesting that she is at least seventeen years old.

She is the least popular and most ignored member of the Teen Girl Squad; in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 3|Issue 3]], [[Cheerleader]] excludes her specifically from a trip to the mall and sends her to a thrift store, and forgets to invite her to the beach in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 5|Issue 5]]. Despite her strained relationship with Cheerleader, What's Her Face seems to have a pretty strong relationship with [[The Ugly One]], as evidenced by [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 4|Issue 4]].

What's Her Face could be described as somewhat depressed; when "punted" by a dinosaur in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 1|Issue 1]], her parting words were a simple, "dag, yo". Other issues support this attitude. She also is much wiser than the other members of the squad, as evidenced by her refusal to dive into the [[Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters#Gift Exchange Lion|Gift Exchange Lion's]] mouth in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 6|Issue 6]], and many of her deaths are apparently randomly induced by [[Strong Bad]]'s overactive imagination, although her stroke of stupidity in eating "Staple Sauce" in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 9|Issue 9]] is not consistent with this.

It appears as though What's Her Face has more of an interest in having a real boyfriend than the other members do, rather than picking up guys quickly as is Cheerleader's style. Apparently, as shown by Issues [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 9|9]] and [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 12|12]], her possible suitors are [[Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters#Science Fiction Greg|Science Fiction Greg]], [[Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters#D N'D Greg|D N'D Greg]], [[Thomas]] the alien, Paul from her [[I Think I Have a Chance With This Guy|dance hit]] (though much less evidence for it), and [[Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters#Wireless Wizard|The Wireless Wizard]], with whom we see What's Her Face on a date for the first time.

As a pre-K girl in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 7|Teeny Tiny Girl Squad]], she had "lice and more". To her credit, she was able to count to [[g]] at a young age. She wore a frayed dress rather than her signature baggy pants.

What's Her Face has dabbled in music: she contributed a track to [[Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits]], the dance hit "[[i think i have a chance with this guy]]", and played bass in [[Kissyboots]] in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 8|Issue 8]] before her bass transformed into a shark and ate "[her] most of [her]".

===Trivia===
*She is also the only girl in the squad to wear [[pants]].
*She is the only girl whose legs are hidden (by her baggy pants). There is some inconsistency about her legs and feet, however; in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 3|Issue 3]] her legs have width, but in Issues [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 7|7]], and [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 11|11]], she has stick legs and feet like the other Teen Girls.
*According to [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 5|Issue 5]], she lives at 412 S. Figgis, [[Mundelow]], [[Zip Codes|80808]].
*Her bass-playing stance reveals she is left-handed.
*In [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 9|Issue 9]], it is revealed that she dates [[Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters#Science Fiction Greg|Science Fiction Greg]].
*She has a tendency to narrate her own life, as shown in [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 3|Issue 3]] ("I'm walking home from the thrift store"), [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 5|Issue 5]] ("I got a [[postcard]]"), and the song [[I Think I Have a Chance With This Guy]] ("I'll answer the phone").
*In [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 6|Issue 6]], she reveals that she is [[Wikipedia:Vegan|vegan.]]
*She has been "killed" less than any other Teen Girl Squad character; however, she has been through a lot of emotional, physical, and fictional pain.
*Her mailbox reads "W. Herface". "Her Face" may be her surname.
*In most Teen Girl Squad issues, What's Her Face's name lacks an apostrophe in her intro frame. This doesn't apply to [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 10|issue 10]].
*In Issue 11, [[Cheerleader]] states that What's Her Face suffers from [[Wikipedia:Night terror|night terrors]].
*In Issue 14, the [[Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters#Evil Cake|Evil Cake]] that eats her says she "tastes like 9 minute miles".
*In issue 10 she is revealed to wear a blue shirt and brown/khaki pants.
==Transcript==
'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{singing}'' Good morning, Mr. ''E''-mail, there's a call for you, on line two. ''{brings up the email}''

<blockquote class="lappy email">
<div>subject: road trip</div>
Dear Fatty bad,<br/>
Do you ever go on road trips with your gang?

That guy, from that place
</blockquote>

''{Strong Bad says "I've actually lost two pounds in the last nine months, thank you very much" instead of "Fatty" and "Pete from Pete's parents' basement" instead of "That guy, from that place".}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh, yeah! Me and The Cheat, we're roadtripcionados. And one thing I've found, is that every good road trip needs a good inside joke that only the people that ''went'' on the road trip will get. ''{clears screen}'' And your friends that ''didn't'' go on the road trip will want to ''{haltingly}'' kill your legs ''{normally}'' every time you bring it up. These days, I make up the inside joke before I go on the road trip, just in case one doesn't happen. For this road trip, we'll make it... jumbo/LARGE. Get it? jumbo/LARGE? It's like a maxymoron.

''{Cut to the Field. Strong Bad and The Cheat are standing in front of the Gremlin; and an object covered by a yellow-splotched cloth is on the right.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' All right, you ready to go, The Cheat? Why is Strong Mad hiding under that not-originally-yellow-spotted sheet from Strong Sad's bedroom? Not my bedroom.

''{Pan to the right so that the entire object covered by the sheet is visible}''

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{The Cheat noises. Pulls back the cloth to reveal many stacked aluminum cans. Excited The Cheat noises.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Whoa! Eighty-something cases of Bull Honkey! ''{close-up of Strong Bad}'' That's my favorite caffeinergy sauce! ''{back to wider view}'' Oh, this road trip is ''definitely'' going to be ''{dances}'' jumbo/LARGE.

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{looks annoyed, quizzical The Cheat noises sounding something like "jumbo what?"}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Just laugh at it. It's an inside joke. It's going to be hilarious.

''{Cut to the inside of the Gremlin. The Cheat is sitting behind the wheel. Strong Bad enters the passenger's seat and shuts the car door.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Road trip city, here we come!

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{The Cheat noises}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Keys? I don't have any keys. Look, the only thing I know about this car is what Bubs told me. And that's that the windows and doors are broken and you can't open them from the inside.

''{The Cheat glares at Strong Bad, annoyed.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh. Right. ''{under his breath}'' That was pretty poor planning on my part.

''{Cut to a distant view of a silhouette of the Gremlin against a yellow sky}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{calling out}'' Bubs? Green Bubs? ''{a tumbleweed rolls by}'' Anybody?

''{cut back to inside the car}''

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{dismissive The Cheat noises}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' All right, forget it. I'm not gonna let a little setback like this ruin our road trip. What we need is some grub. Pull over at this next exit up here. ''{The Cheat turns the steering wheel}'' I know a little roadside diner called "Beneath the Passenger's Seat". ''{goes under the seat}''

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{surprised The Cheat noises}''

''{Cut to a view of the passenger's seat from above. Strong Bad's leg is visible on the right}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' All right, we got a small order of petrifries ''{brings out three French fries covered in hair}'', a large melt shake that's almost eaten through the cup ''{brings out an old cup that says "Melt Shake" and is stained brown on the bottom}'', ooh, and for dessert, a half-sucked booterscotch in desperate need of a shave ''{brings out an orange, egg-shaped candy covered with hair and a nail-clipping}''.

''{return to front view of the Gremlin}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' All right, cool, that was disgusting. Now alls we need to wash the taste out of our brains is some jammin' tunes!

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{exclamatory The Cheat noises. Brings out a CD that says "road trip mix".}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' A mix CD! ''{singing}'' That, my friend, is jumbo/LARGE. ''{normal voice}'' Now, let's put it in and crank it up!

''{cut to view of Gremlin's dashboard<!--not sure of the right word for this-->, which contains an eight-track player labeled "8-TRAX".}''

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{tries to put the CD in the eight-track player. The Cheat noises.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Naw, just force it in there. ''{return to front view of the Gremlin}'' I'm sure that thing's forwards compatible.

''{The Cheat pushes CD into player. The edges of the CD break off.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh, yeah, The Cheat. These are some jammin' tunes! ''{singing}'' And now we're jammin'! ''{in falsetto}'' Jammin' tunes! Jammin tunes ''{in his normal voice}'' Now we're jammi&mdash; ''{shouting quickly}'' Oh, who am I kidding; this is the worst road trip ever! ''{puts his head down on the dashboard}'' The Cheat ''{cut to silhouette view of the Gremlin}'', we're gonna die in this Gremlin!

'''THE CHEAT:''' ''{sad The Cheat noises}''

''{The sky darkens}''

'''SINGERS:''' ''{unseen, in high voices}'' And now we're jammin'! Jammin' tunes! Jammin' tunes! Now we're jammin'! jumbo/LAAAAARGE!

''{cut to view of Strong Bad and the Cheat in the Gremlin, this time from an angle}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Like, look at that little stain over there! ''{cut to a view looking up at the car roof}'' That could be a whole 'nother world. With a whole 'nother Strong Bad and The Cheat stuck in a Gremlin. ''{a light shines on The Cheat and Strong Bad.}''

''{cut to a view looking out the window; Homestar Runner is standing outside holding a flashlight}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{looking annoyed}'' All right, young lovers. Move it along! What do you think this is, Make-out Point?

''{cut to view of the Gremlin from outside}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Homestar, it's me and The Cheat! We're stuck in here!

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Unlikely story, Backseat Bradley!

'''STRONG BAD:''' Just open the door; I'll explain everything!

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' All right, but before I do, ''{no longer looking annoyed}'' I'm looking for my jumbo/LARGE melt shake! I think I left it in there a week or month ago. ''{cut back to view of Homestar Runner through the car window}'' Either of you guys find it? ''{opens the door}''

''{cut back to view of the Gremlin from outside}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{exits the Gremlin}'' Oh, sweet two feet from where I just was! How I've missed you so!

''{cut back to the Lappy}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' Luckily, Officer Cheese-for-butt let us off with just a warning. And ''that'' was our road trip. Or, more accurately our car trip, since we didn't go on any roads. Or, even more accurately, our car, since we didn't go on any trips either. So yeah, Pete from Pete's parents' basement, I go on car with my gang all the time. And that's the end of this email. Until next time everybody, remember to stay j-LARGE.

''{The Paper comes down}''

:'''BUBS:''' The first person to call me the orange Coach Z is gonna get a free consultation with my friends Jacoby and Meyers! ''{balls up his left fist, followed by his right}''

==Fun Facts==

===Explanations===
*Petrifries is a reference to [[Wikipedia:Petrification|petrification]], which is the process by which organic material is converted into stone or a similar substance.
*[[Wikipedia:Forward compatibility|Forward compatible]] products try to cater to future technology, such as new input devices.
*Maxymoron is a play on the word [[Wikipedia:oxymoron|oxymoron]], although jumbo/LARGE is not actually an oxymoron; it behaves like a [[Wikipedia:pleonasm|pleonasm]], or the opposite of an oxymoron.<!-- PLEASE do not include the "jumbo shrimp" bit. That is a possibility, but not the only possible, source of this. Please post in Talk if you have more to say on this BEFORE you edit this. -->
*The "honk em if you got em" bumper sticker is quite possibly a jab at the military expression "smoke em if you got em", a term soldiers use for being allowed to smoke cigarettes when standing at rest in formation.

===Trivia===
*There appear to be 204 cans of Bull Honkey.
**If there really were "eighty-something" cases of Bull Honkey, then there would be from 2.29 to 2.55 cans per "case".
*This email has four [[portmanteaus]]; the most featured in any toon on the site besides [[Teen Girl Squad Issue 8]], which also has four portmanteaus.
*This is also the first time we see Bubs clench his "fists".

===Remarks===
*Homestar is able to open the Gremlin's door, even though he has [[Lack of Visible Arms|no visible arms]] and the car door has no visible handles.
*Strong Bad claimed in the email [[car]] that he did not own a car. The Gremlin is presumably the car he won from Bubs in the email [[pop-up]]. Interestingly, The Cheat won the key to the Gremlin; however, it isn't present in this email.
*With the exception of one knee, Strong Bad is able to fit his entire body under the seat of the Gremlin, even though it would appear that his head is far too big to fit.
*When The Cheat slams the CD into the 8-track player, it is not shaded.

===Goofs===
[[Image:Meltshake roadtrip goof.png|thumb|And now for my next trick!]]
*The passenger seat's shadow doesn't move while Strong Bad is rummaging under the cushion.
*The Melt Shake doesn't appear in the first few frames of animation as Strong Bad is bringing it out from under the cushion, although his hand is visible. This makes it seem as though it appears out of thin air.
*When the silhouette of the car is shown, there are no cases of Bull Honkey next to it.

===Inside References===
*"Bull honkey" was previously mentioned in [[record book]], in which Strong Bad set the record for "Longest Bull Honkey".
*The Jammin' Tunes song is by the same band that makes the song that The Dancing Brothers dance to in [[A Folky Tale]], as revealed in a DVD commentary.
=== Commentary Transcript 1===
'''Commentary by:''' [[Mike Chapman]], [[Matt Chapman]], [[Karen Wagner]]

'''MIKE:''' Ohh – ha, ha. I remember that road trip we went on, guys.

'''KAREN:''' Oh, yeah, we went on a lot of road trips.

'''MATT:''' One time I made a joke on that road trip, and we might still make that joke today.

'''MIKE:''' Ah, road trips.

'''MATT:''' Yeah.

'''KAREN:''' So, okay.

'''MATT:''' Yeah-uhh.

'''KAREN:''' Yeah.. The noisy machine. ''{laughs}'' Okay, there's an inside joke right there.

'''MIKE:''' I haven't been on an actual legit road trip in a while. ''{Matt says "Sad!" in the background}'' We went on a road trip with the Homestar puppet from Houston to Austin...

'''MATT:''' That's true.

'''MIKE:''' ..one time. Two or three hours ''{Matt laughs}'' doesn't really constitute a road trip.

'''MATT:''' But we even stopped along roadside attractions.

'''MIKE:''' That's, that's right.

'''KAREN:''' That empty field.

'''MIKE:''' That what?

'''KAREN:''' That empty field where Homestar ate all the muffins.

'''MATT & MIKE:''' That's right.

'''MIKE:''' All right, let's talk about something we're watching.

'''MATT:''' Okay.

'''MIKE:''' So something.. ''{laughs}''

'''MATT:''' Well, we're talking about something that's relevant to what we're watching.

'''MIKE:''' All right, we can keep talking about..

''{short pause}''

'''KAREN:''' Okay, here comes Bull Honkey. All right.

'''MATT:''' ''{referring to the sheet covering the Bull Honkeys}'' That's really gross.

'''KAREN:''' ''{overlapping}'' I think you guys, um, drink a lot of that, don't you?

'''MATT:''' We&mdash; we used to..

'''MIKE:''' ''{overlapping}'' Not as much anymore. We used to rely on&mdash; that's why e-mails aren't up always on Monday mornings like they used to be. ''{Karen laughs}'' We used to just drink a bunch of Bull Honkey until they were done and then I'd just go to bed and finish up by morning.

'''MATT:''' Yeah.. Babies and..

'''MIKE:''' Babies and things. Babies and those darn wives. ''{Matt laughs}'' Ever since we got those darn wives.

'''KAREN:''' Hey, I'm calling Jackie and Melissa.

''{Matt laughs}''

'''MATT:''' Strong Bad did not think this road trip through very well, you guys.

'''KAREN:''' Nope, not at all.

'''MIKE:''' What happened? Oh, the door's broken and..

'''MATT:''' Yeah. And they're stuck in it.

'''KAREN:''' ''{overlapping}'' No keys.

'''MIKE:''' No wh-? Oh. ''{laughs}'' Green Bubs.

'''MATT:''' ''{laughs}'' Coach Z does not like being referred to as green Bubs.

'''MIKE:''' Coach Z has had a decline unlike any other character of the website over the last few years. Like Strong Sad's gotten better, like he's a much&mdash; and even the King of Town...

'''MATT:''' Yeah.

'''MIKE:''' Originally the hated characters.. the original ones have gotten a little better...

'''KAREN:''' Strong Sad, yeah.

'''MIKE:''' But Coach Z has definitely gone from being kind of a...

'''KAREN:''' ''{interrupting}'' Strong Sad's been holding his own.

'''MIKE:''' Yeah. Coach Z just gets more depressing.. ''{laughs}''

'''KAREN:''' Oh, melt shake! Melt shake. That is.. makes an appearance in the store, actually.

'''MIKE:''' That's right. It's part of the combo.

'''KAREN:''' Yup. In our combo value menu.

'''MIKE:''' The melt shake makes an appearance in my car frequently. ''{laughter}'' In a melt cup of coffee as the thing that's the most frequently.

'''MATT:''' Yeah, more than a melt shake.

'''KAREN:''' Caffeine&mdash;

'''MATT:''' So I.. I imagine this..

'''KAREN:''' ''{interrupting}'' Caffeine cuts through the Styrofoam.

'''MATT:''' I imagine that this song is by the same recording artist that does the, uh, what's the one from Saddy Dumpington called? Um.. What's that song called?

'''MIKE:''' Uhhh..

'''MATT:''' The Dancing Brothers dance tune.

'''MIKE:''' Yeah. I don't remember what it's called! But I think that the band that must have the word "power" in the name; they're called like "The Power Surge", or something.

'''MATT:''' ''{laughs}'' That's a good one. What is this? Like, we can't&mdash; we know our own cartoons so.. We don't know. At all.

'''MIKE:''' All right, you keep talking&mdash;

'''KAREN:''' Thank you! Thank you, Wiki. Thank you, Homestar Wiki, for helping Mike and Matt to remember their own cartoons.

'''MATT:''' Mike, you made those..

'''MIKE:''' Look at those fireflies!

'''MATT:''' Yeah. You made those like&mdash;

'''MIKE:''' I made those like, five years ago.

'''KAREN:''' These guys are so lazy, they're pulling stuff out of the hat that they used five years ago.

'''MIKE:''' No, we didn't use them. That's the thing.

'''KAREN:''' Ohh.

''{short pause}''

'''MATT:''' So, here's another instance of Homestar kind of being the police&mdash; the local police. ''{Mike laughs}''

'''KAREN:''' Always clicking the flashlight on and off.

'''MIKE:''' Well, without any arms, he's gotta have to be expressive somehow, so that flashlight and the clicking is like...

'''MATT:''' ''{interrupting}'' ...gives it a sense of expressiveness

'''MIKE:''' Expressiveness.

''{short pause}''

'''KAREN:''' Oh, I forgot to mention that for a long time after this e-mail came out, there was another phrase that made its way, uh, into my daily life was&mdash;

'''MIKE:''' ''{overlapping}'' What?

'''KAREN:''' ''{sing-song}'' That, my friend, is jumbo/LARGE!

'''MATT:''' That's a pretty good one. That's kind of like Strong Bad said, sort of like, ''{as [[Homestar]]}'' And you smell like pea soup!

''{Mike and Karen laugh}''

'''KAREN:''' Oh yeah! It's the same tune.

'''MATT:''' Yeah.

''{short pause}''

'''KAREN:''' So, we're just, uh, watching it.

'''MIKE:''' Talk, talk! j-LARGE! I can say j-LARGE, right? Talk!

'''MATT:''' Talk.

=== Commentary Transcript 2===
'''Commentary by:''' [[Mike Chapman]], [[Matt Chapman]]

'''MATT:''' We're doing this&mdash; a bonus style commentary. Bonus bonus commentary. Because we found this list of proposed titles for Strong Bad and The Cheat's road trip.

'''MIKE:''' What was the one they decided on?

'''MATT:''' Uh, I don't think they even give it a name really.

'''MIKE:''' Oh, 'cause initially that was one of the big things in this email is they give it a name.

'''MATT:''' Right.

'''MIKE:''' Gotta have a name for your road trip.

'''MATT:''' OK, um, well, let's go down Mike, we'll alternate. How 'bout that?

'''MIKE:''' OK.

'''MATT:''' You&mdash; you start.

'''MIKE:''' Well one of them was "bro's on the roa' apostrophe nine whatev."

'''MATT:''' Bro's on the roa' nine whatev.

'''MIKE:''' ''{overlapping}'' nine whatev.

'''MATT:''' Uh, this is one Mike contributed. It is one of my favorites. "Gettin' and The Lengthy boy" is the name of their road trip.

'''MIKE:''' Uh... I guess Strong Bad is Gettin'?

'''MATT:''' OK.

'''MIKE:''' And maybe The Cheat is the The Lengthy boy?

'''MATT:''' It's kind of like they're making a Burt Reynolds movie. For their road trip.

'''MIKE:''' ''{overlapping}'' Exactly. Then there's "putting the bro back in bro-oad trip."

'''MATT:''' OK.

'''MIKE:''' And it's just spelled broad trip.

'''MATT:''' And then there's just straight up "bro-oad trip." By itself.

'''MIKE:''' And then there's "quite wild for the nine-seven."

'''MATT:''' They like to not have it be the year that it is.

'''MIKE:''' Yeah.

'''MATT:'''
'''STRONG BAD:''' I'm going to try something a little different. ''{typing}'' print out million dollar bill.exe

''{The computer responds with "Bad command or file name"}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{not typing}'' What? Oh. ''{typing}'' no for real, print me out a million dollar bill, man.exe

''{The computer responds with "Syntax error."}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' um, this time really print me out a million dollars bill.nofoolin'

''{The computer responds with "Cut it out, you."}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{not typing}'' What the—! Don't give me none of that crosstalk! Oh well, it was worth a shot. Now on to... ''{sighs}'' on to the e-mail.

''{Strong Bad hits enter, types "strongbad_email.exe," and hits enter again}''
<br />
form,<br />
your pal</blockquote>

''{Strong Bad pronounces "behiend" as "buh-HEEND"}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' Ooh, my pal! ''{typing}'' Well Palbert, it's a good story. And now you all have to hear it.

''{Cut to flashback of Strong Bad in the basement with a sack, acting mysterious.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' Seems I was looking for a place to hide all my Aztec gold. But when I made the first incision, not only did I realize that I don't have any Aztec gold,&mdash;

''{The bag falls open to reveal it was full of oil filters}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' &mdash;but I unleashed a stench of biblical proportions.

''{Cut back to Strong Bad in front of the computer}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' They had to call in a hazmat team just to hose me hose me hose me ''{typed then deleted, typed then deleted, then typed}'' down!

''{Cut to The Poopsmith, wearing a [[Wikipedia:HAZMAT|HAZMAT]] suit labeled "Has Matt?", hosing down a screaming Strong Bad.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' I had to spend a fortune on Glade plugins.

''{Cut to Strong Sad standing next to Strong Bad at the computer.}''

'''STRONG SAD:''' Now wait a second! That's not how ''I'' remember it.

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh, and I'm sure every loser out there wants to hear your loser opinions, loser.

'''STRONG SAD:''' They do!

''{Cut to flashback of a young Strong Bad in the basement}''

'''STRONG SAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' I seem to remember a young Strong Bad thinking that Olympic sprinter Carl Lewis was a woman. And that he was hot!

''{Lil' Strong Bad writes "Strong Bad LUVS Carla Lewis!! and thinks shes hott!!" with a Sharpie on the couch.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' That is entirely untrue.

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Lies! All lies!

''{Cut to Homestar standing behind Strong Bad.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Clearly I'm the only one who remembers how it all went down.

''{Cut to flashback of Homestar laying on the couch in the basement. The couch clearly has the patch already on it. Homestar spits Teddy Grahams.}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' ''{voiceover}'' It was not so long ago that I was in Strong Bad's basement spitting Teddy Grahams all over the place. One of them got stuck to the ceiling.

''{A Teddy Graham sticks to the ceiling. Homestar spits another up at it repeatedly, trying to dislodge it.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{voiceover}'' Homestar, shut up! This is about that patch on the couch. It's clearly already on there in your flashback.

''{Cut back to the two Brothers Strong and Homestar at the computer}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Oh, oh, ohhhhh. I thought this week's e-mail was entitled "Teddy Graham Memories."

''{Cut to shadowed "This guy's voice has been digitally altered" interview session}''

'''MYSTERIOUS PERSON''' ''{Clearly Coach Z, with his voice digitally lowered}'': No, no. I got the ''real'' scoop. Strong Bad had me over for Gumbo one night, and I don't know what kind of doodoo meat he was using in there, but I had to puke!

''{Cut to flashback of Coach Z's shadow in the basement}''

'''COACH Z:''' ''{voiceover}'' So I went downstairs and I noticed this little rip in the couch, so I puked in it!

''{Coach Z's shadow pukes in the couch. Cut back to interview session}''

'''COACH Z:''' ''{voiceover}'' I... I'm sorry for what I done!

''{Cut back to Strong Bad in front of the computer}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{typing}'' I liked that gumbo! I didn't use no doodoo meat. ''{shaking fist}'' If I ever find out who that guy is... Well, palbert, there's your answer. Me? I'm gonna go over there.

''{Strong Bad starts to get up from his seat, but sits down again.}''

'''STRONG BAD:''' ''{not typing}'' Oh wait! ''{typing}'' make homestar's head explode.exe

''{The computer responds with "No can do." The camera pulls back so we can see Strong Sad and Homestar again}''

'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' No can do.

'''STRONG BAD:''' Oh crap! This computer is worthless.

''{Zoom back to just Strong Bad and the computer. Strong Bad now gets up and leaves. [[The Paper]] comes down.}''

==Easter Eggs==
[[Image:Million dollar bill.PNG|thumb|print million dollar bill, please.exe]]
*At the end, you can click on a hidden "print million dollar bill, please.exe" at the bottom to print an [[ASCII art]] million dollar bill from The Paper. This is more easily seen if you use the contrast knob to make the background blue. You can click on the million dollar bill once it has printed out to make it go away.
*At the end you can click on the "make homestars head explode.exe" link to cut to a short of Homestar, again spitting [[Teddy Grahams]] all over the basement.
:''{cut back to the basement. Homestar is lying on the couch spitting Teddy Grahams all over again, with The Cheat standing nearby. After a few seconds, The Cheat's head explodes}''
:'''HOMESTAR RUNNER:''' Dang, The Cheat. That computer's got something against you. Did you ever, like, pour Mountain Dew all over it?

==Fun Facts==

===Explanations===

*[[Wikipedia:Hazmat|Hazmat]] means "Hazardous Material." A Hazmat team, usually associated with Fire or other public safety departments, is a group of people specially trained to clean up any hazardous material spills.

===Trivia===

*The label on the disk in the floppy disk container reads "[[Floppy Disk Container#old game|old game]]".
*This is the first time we don't see The Cheat's eyes after his [[The Cheat's Head Exploding|head explodes]].

===Remarks===

*The "print out million dollar bill please.exe" Easter egg remains black if the contrast knob is adjusted.
*There has never actually been a $1,000,000 bill. The highest currency ever printed by the U.S. Mint was a [[Wikipedia:Large denominations of United States currency|$100,000 bill]] in 1934 depicting Woodrow Wilson. It was only used among Federal Reserve Banks and was never made available for use by the general public.
*Aside from being able to type with boxing gloves on, Strong Bad appears to be able to type just as quickly with one hand as he can with two.
*Theoretically, all the stories could have been true: Young Strong Bad could have written on the couch and removed the ink somehow, Coach Z could have puked in a separate tear, resulting in the "stench of Biblical proportions".
*The first time Strong Bad says "Palbert," it is capitalized, but the second time, it isn't.

===Goofs===
*During Homestar's flashback, one of the spots of ceiling texture twitches and moves.
*When Coach Z's silhouetted figure is speaking, a tiny gap appears on the bill of his cap when his head moves.
*When The Paper comes down in the Easter egg there is a line jutting out on the left side of it.
*When Strong Bad puts his hand up to the screen at the end of the email in response to Coach Z, you don't see its reflection on the screen.
*In Homestar's Easter egg, The Cheat's right arm is missing.
*After The Cheat's head explodes, you can still see a small black line of his hair on the back of his head.
*When Homestar says, "No can do," he doesn't make a regular "O" mouth movement.

===Inside References===

*In the "make homestars head explode.exe" Easter egg, Homestar Runner asks The Cheat, "Did you ever like, pour [[Mountain Dew]] all over it?" That refers to the email [[anything]], in which Homestar Runner poured Mountain Dew all over Strong Bad's computer.
*The knife Strong Bad uses to cut open the couch is similar to the [[Big Knives]] of other Strong Bad Emails.
*Homestar remarking "I thought this email was entitled teddy graham memories." is another instance of [[Fourth Wall Breaks|Breaking the Fourth Wall]].

===Real-World References===

*[[Wikipedia:Glade (brand)#Plug-Ins|Glade PlugIns]] are scented air fresheners that plug into electrical wall sockets.
*Little Strong Bad is wearing a shirt featuring a rather well known advertisement for [[Wikipedia:Rock City|"Rock City"]], a tourist trap in Georgia.
*[[Wikipedia:Carl Lewis|Carl Lewis]] was an Olympic sprinter active during the 1980s and early 1990s. His sister [http://vm.mtsac.edu/relays/HallFame/CroLewis.htm Carol] was an Olympic long jumper.
*Teddy Grahams are any of a number of bear-shaped cookies produced by [[Wikipedia:Nabisco|Nabisco]].
*When Coach Z is silhouetted and his voice is altered, it is a reference to shows like [[Wikipedia:America's Most Wanted|''America's Most Wanted'']], where a witness wants to keep his/her identity safe. (i.e. Witness X)

===Fast Forward===

Talk:Inconsistencies within the Homestar Runner universe

Thejason: /**/Strong Bad's computers

== Vague page description ==

There are lots of inconsistencies in the Homestar Runner universe; some are clearly intentional, some are probably not, and most fall somewhere in between. We already have places to note these on the individual toons' pages when they come up; why have a totally separate page for them? --{{User:Jay/sig}} 00:44, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Is it just me, or is this page basically what the Goofs section in every single transcript page is for? &mdash; {{User:Lapper/sig}} 00:45, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Maybe it could be a page for contradictory things in Homestar Runner? That's a little less vague. {{User:Shwoo/sig}} 00:48, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

:Shwoo's idea might work out. This is basically an organizational thing. If I wanted to find all the inconsistencies right now, it would take me FOREVER. Being spread out among dozens of pages, I would probably never find many of them, since a search for "inconsistencies" brings up 4 results. It's just a way to make things easier to find. And that's the point right? Making information easily accessable for everyone else. {{User:Ten Ten/sig}} 00:49, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

::But if you notice an inconsistency in a toon, is that not what the Goofs section is for? Why not search "goofs" and see what you get? &mdash; {{User:Lapper/sig}} 00:52, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

:::Not every goof is an inconsistancy. Looking at the goofs on the wiki, most of them are of the "Strong Bad spelled a word wrong" or "the animation looks weird" type.{{User:Shwoo/sig}} 00:58, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

::::Shwoo is right. Only major inconsistencies are mentioned anyway, and most of the minor ones are ignored. You can search "goofs" all you want, it will come up with a result for every cartoon page on the entire wiki, and that won't help you in any way whatsoever locate your inconsistencies. This page at least deserves a chance, but then again, all of my pages were deleted before they had a chance...{{User:Ten Ten/sig}} 01:03, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

:::::I want to give this page a chance <!--to do a hip hop dance-->. The bits like how the Lappy have 10 MB instead of 5 MB is a good one. I'm still not removing the {{tl|tobedeleted}} template, but I'm for this page. {{User:E.L. Cool/sig}} 09:48, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
This is interesting. I'll bet you the Star Trek wiki (if there is one even, I haven't looked) lists at least the major things where continuity is broken within the universe. (If they don't, maybe they should....) Internal inconsistencies are pretty interesting to most people. Creators of a universe also create a world of "fact" which is bound to certain expectations; when the facts fall short of those expectations, it's clearly notable. I see this page as a place to list all the major issues where "Homestar geeks" (read: geekier than us) would argue about which way of looking at things is the one best supported by the canon. I say allow this to develop for a while; if it does, '''keep'''. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 10:05, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

If this page is kept, it should be renamed [[Wikipedia:Retcon|Retcons]]. --[[User:Trogga|Trogga]] 16:11, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

::Technically, a "retcon" is not when the creators merely contradict themselves, but when they indicate that the new version of "reality" is the correct one. For example, if TBC released a toon telling how Strong Bad and Homestar were friends in their childhood, that may be considered a retcon as it intentionally changes the account from [[flashback]]. The Strong Sad navel drilling might be part of a retcon. But the disk space of the Lappy changing isn't really a retcon, by my read of its definition. And The Cheat being unable to say "Dennis" yet being able to voice characters in his animations is a close call. Additionally, not only is "inconsistencies" a bit more wide-reaching than "retcon" but is a more well-known term that will be a bit more accessible to readers not up on words not found in the Oxford Dictionary. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 00:57, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

:Long live this page! The more the merrier!--[[User:Theyellowdart|Theyellowdart]] 16:53, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
::I don't consider all the site's inconsistencies as "goofs"; the main reason being that inconsistencies often appear between two or more different toons (or games), whereas goofs happen in one toon only. For example, the Trogdor-Peasant's Quest inconsistency (see article) is, of course, between [[TROGDOR!]] and [[Peasant's Quest]]. An example of a goof (or, in this case, a remark) would be Strong Sad's "covered bridge" obsession seen in [[Fall Float Parade]], which began and ended in one cartoon. My bottom line is that there ''is'' a difference, and I therefore vote '''No Delort.''' &mdash; {{User:SamFisher1022/sig}} 14:58, 4 December 2006
:::There, I just added an inconsistancy in the King of Town DVD Commentary. I think this is enough info for '''no deletion'''. Keep this page. I found it useful. --[[User:Theyellowdart|Theyellowdart]] 21:32, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

So is it okay to take the {{tl|tobedeleted}} template off now? It's been over two weeks. {{User:Shwoo/sig}} 00:53, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
:I believe that would be a good idea. Now about that moving. I don't think that the name needs to be changed.--[[User:H*Bad|H*Bad]] 03:02, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

I just want to note that if you are looking for how a specific toon is inconsistent with another, it would be better to look under that toon's "remarks" section, not its "goofs" section. [[User:Bad Bad Guy|Bad Bad Guy]] 01:00, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

== Strong Sad's Apparel ==

*There are several places where Strong Sad wears a "one-time type" article of clothing, ("The Blue Ones," "The Sturge" t-shirt, the two Geddup Noise shirts, etc). I think these should be left out in this section. The "wildebeest pheromones in his laundry" is more consistent with the whole"inconsistency" thing, because it's as though he's saying he ''always'' wears clothes (I think. Sorry, but I'm having trouble explaining what I mean.) I think there's another instance of this type of discrepancy, but I can't remember where it is... [[User:4kai2lyn6|kai lyn]] 22:37, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
*True dat. I made that edit. Leave it out, then... {{User:Theyellowdart/sig}}
*Yeah. wait, why does his laundry only have to be his clothes? why not things like towels, etc.
[[User:Im a bell|Im a bell]] 01:46, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm gonna take the whole fact out. In addition to the "he could do laundry that doesn't consist of wearable clothes", which is totally valid, it's been established that he does ''own'' quite a few articles of clothing. Yes, he doesn't wear them often, and he says so in his journal, but that doesn't prevent him from ever doing laundry. (analogy: I don't really wear suits. But I do ''own'' a suit. If I were to say something like "Did you take my suit to the cleaners?" it wouldn't really be an inconsistency with my not generally wearing suits.) In other words, I think one should interpret the line as "I don't really wear clothes [very often]" rather than "I don't really wear clothes [ever]" because, well, he sometimes does. [[User:DAGRON|DAGRON]] 13:53, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

== Compy screen width and length ==

It's been very inconsistent, through the main Strong Bad view, and through examples in [[replacement]] and [[huttah!]]. --[[User:Addict 2006|Addict]] [[User talk:Addict 2006|2006]] 00:02, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

What I mean is the width has been 4:3'd at times and then it's a bit wider... --[[User:Addict 2006|Addict]] [[User talk:Addict 2006|2006]] 00:03, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
:Hm. It's true. I say it can go on the page. Anyone else? {{User:Theyellowdart/sig}}

== The chair ==

Here's one to add: In [[the chair]], Strong Bad gets a new chair, but in [[what i want]], he's back to the stool.

That's not an inconsistency, Strong Bad just went back to Stooly. --{{User:TotalSpaceshipGuy3/sig}} 12:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

== Tongue or no tongue? ==

I just realized: In the DVD version of Homestar Runner's theme song video, Homestar sticks out his tongue while figuring out an answer for the test, but there are TONS of times when he says words with the letter "L" in them without lifting it.
Not to mention Strong Mad, who had his tongue out while carving "DAGRON" on the table, but no tongue present when he says "L" words or any words with "L" in them. See also Remarks in [[retirement]]. This whole description should count as a long-lasting inconsistency, shouldn't it?
-(Feb. 3, 2007)
:This delves into the topic of "cartoon physics". In short, we don't know the method these "dumn animal characters" use to produce the phoneme /l/. One might assume it's the same as we do, given the presence of a tongue, but that's not necessarily the case. When two apparently conflicting facts can in some way coexist within a cartoon, that's not really an inconsistency in my mind. When they cannot be reconciled based on each simply having to be impossible given the other, that's an inconsistency. {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 15:43, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

== Anti Chicken-Wings ==
I think it's kind of unnecessary to be arguing over the "chicken wings" thing. I made this article for inconsistencies and goofs IN-BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT TOONS, not within the same toon. That's the Goofs section. If we really can't decide, then someone should STUFF it.{{User:Ten Ten/sig}} 03:28, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
== Why not just "Inconsistencies"? ==

I had moved it there, but the misguided Loafing changed it back, for some reason. Is there any reason at all for the title to be the long, drawn-out, painfully fanboy-esque "Inconsistencies Within the Homestar Runner Universe" and not just "Inconsistencies"? If so, please state why here. {{User:Darth Katana X/sig}} 11:11, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
:The phrase Homestar Runner universe was recently used in a sketchbook update, it's not that fanboy-esque or painful. Anyway, I think the current title works well. Inconsistancies isn't really specific enough. {{User:Shwoo/sig}} 11:26, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

:Darth, you know very well that so far, your attempts to rid the wiki of the term "universe" have been unsuccessful. And I'm not going to start discussing this all over again. If you move pages without discussion because you think that "universe" is "jargon", then you know that the majority of the editors will oppose the move, and this is disruptive, unacceptable behaviour. This also goes for personal attacks. Consider this your last warning.{{User:Loafing/sig}} 11:57, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

::Now, taking a step back from the whole universe issue, I believe the long title should stay. While we don't have titles such as [[Running Gags Within the Homestar Runner Universe]], and while [[Inconsistencies]] would actually be sufficient, I believe that "Inconsistencies Within the ... Universe" gives the article an edge. The idea of inconsistencies within the fabric of the universe is way more interesting than just inconsistencies.{{User:Loafing/sig}} 11:57, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

:::That is a very bigoted way to look at it. The article itself mentions namedrops the term "Homestar Runner universe," isn't that enough? Inconsistencies is ''concise'' and gets the point across perfectly. It doesn't take beating readers over the head to make them experience the cool atmosphere of the words "Homestar Runner universe" (which is, regardless of its canon status, jargon). Beating readers over the head with the term may also mislead them to think that it is a key element of homestarrunner.com. So, in short, any reason left to oppose its move is completely childish and unencyclopedic in every way. {{User:Darth Katana X/sig}} 15:28, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

::::Also, while I find your desire to give the article's name an "edge" admirable, I must oppose it as well. Should I give myself an "edge" by describing myself as a fourty-year-old football player who surfs the web in NOFX undies and has a thing for beef jerkie? No, I'd rather be thoroughly honest and describe myself as the boring emo rudie that I am. Besides, I could get in trouble for that. {{User:Darth Katana X/sig}}
:::::I'd like to get some votes. So, uh, please vote!

:::::Why to stick to the name I don't care to type out because it's so lengthy but just typed more by avoiding it: 1) it's more, erm, "edgy." It makes people feel like there's more to Homestar Runner than a website about a pale-skinned, alien hipster.

While I understand your ridiculous personal vendetta against making references to the Homestar Runner universe for its redundancy, the pharse is actually valid in this scenario. Obviously, the inconsistencies are relating to Homestar Runner. You're misinterpreting the meaning of the title as "Inconsistencies Related to the Homestar Runner Universe". If this article was just "Inconsistencies", it would be implying intra-cartoon inconsistencies, which is what the Goofs section of every email, toon, short, or anything else is for. This is inter-cartoon inconsistencies, meaning ones that traverse one or more cartoons. Inconsistencies would be too inspecific for that specific purpose. Although you may not be able to see it from your single-mindedness, the average reader of the wiki would subconsciously observe the liminal differences as they thought about what the content of the page would be. I believe I created this one, and I'm sure that I intended the title to contain "Homestar Runner universe" within it.{{User:Ten Ten/sig}} 00:40, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
:Darth, we're really trying to give you a second chance here. Even if you're completely and totally opposed to the term "Homestar Runner Universe", that doesn't mean you need to proclaim it to the whole world in a very rude manner over and over (and over) again. We've all had our share of things we don't like. I personally don't like that [[Wilbur|this article]] exists, but I didn't make a huge deal about it. I was frustrated for awhile and then just let it go. That's what you need to do. Majority pretty much rules around here, so if you're the only one that doesn't like this title (and you are), you just need to get over it and move on to better, more important things. ::appears [[Trogdor|here]] implying that we ''don't'' consider interviews to be canon. As for the commentaries, they are impromptu, spur-of-the-moment type of things. I think that the reason Strong Sad hasn't heard of Limozeen is probably because it was ''before'' he watched that Saturday morning cartoon. In the laundry room scene in email 175, you should notice that there are no seashells on the washer and dryer knobs. And at the end of [[redesign|email 153]], the seashells are hot glued on the knobs. Obviously, the laundry room scene might have taken place ''before'' emails 126 and 153. Just my theory. :Here's the main flaw with your theory: as in most cartoons, any changes to the Homestar Runner universe are often temporary and are quickly reverted by the following week. Remember when Strong Bad got [[the chair]]? Cartoons are all about keeping the status quo. For all we know, Strong Bad could have taken the seashells off the knobs the following week. Or, more likely, TBC forgot/didn't bother to update it. Anyway, all this is speculative, so no water is carried by either of our arguments. *[[Happy Hallow-Day]] &mdash; Since Halloween night is missing, the [[Spooky Woods]] are in a less spooky state, but even though it wasn't Halloween in [[Where's the Cheat?]], the woods were still spooky.

All I can say reading this is "What? Huh? Since they were 'less spooky but still spooky,' it's a discrepancy?" It either needs to be rewritten more intelligibly, or removed.
Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon — The scene behind the fence is missing the Bear Holding a Shark that scared The Cheat in date. RECONCILLING, POTENTIALLY: The bear holdin' a shark was moved somewhere else in between the 2 Animations. [[User: Poopskin/about|Poopskin, YOUR HEAD ENGSMSPLODE.™]]
:Speculation. Without evidence this happened, we can't say where it is. Just that it's not there like it should be. --[[User:DorianGray|DorianGray]] 00:53, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

In regard to the difference in hard drive size of the Lappy in animal and retirement, it seems to me that Strong Bad merely upgraded it in between. He doesn't necessarily need to tell us. [[User:Thejason|Thejason]] 05:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

===Real Lighter===
I found a real lighter on [http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6158270250 Ebay], so I'm not sure what "no physical counterpart" means. :Update: A [http://search.ebay.com/BMW-Lighter quick search] on eBay yields about 90 auctions for a BMW lighter currently. I wonder how many of these auctions would not even exist if it weren't for Homestar Runner? {{User:The Paper/sig}} 18:39, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

::Yeah, I actually bought one of these after Drhaggis brought it to my attention in February. I got one of the ones that looks like Strong Bad's and my plan was to take a photo for this page. The thing is pretty much just a silver colored Zippo ripoff with a BMW logo glued on it. I still want to take a photo, but I'd have to find the thing first. I thought I knew where it was, but I can't find it. Hmm.[[User:Tom|<nowiki></nowiki>]] -- [[User:Tom|Tom]] 20:33, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
