[edit] Transferred from "Addition Committee"

As most of you may know, one can't simply create a comittee (especially not in the main namespace). The existing committies were created after quite a bit of discussion regarding their necessity. Now, this "committee" is basically what the entire wiki is for. Every user on the wiki adds information to articles that need them, on a regular basis. A committee with this very function would be even worse than the list on HRWiki:Recent changes patrol, since the entire committee would be just a list. In short, the first question is: What does this committee function as, that doesn't already exist? — Lapper (talk) 21:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Agree with Lapper. This is what the wiki is all about. We don't need a committee to tell us to do what we're already doing naturally. --DorianGray
Yes, we might as well call this "Committee To Edit The Wiki". Loafing 21:12, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
hey man, i just thought it would be a good idea. and i dont see you guys coming up with any ideas. i was tyring to like, help out. -- Jangles5150 yeah, this is exactly wat a wikignome is. yeh, delete it. --Jangles5150 21:27, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Come now, there's no point in telling us that you haven't seen us come up with any ideas; you just registered yesterday. To rattle off a few, Loafing pioneered the subtitles project, I've cranked out about 15 help pages, and Dorian does various meep-related things that are probably noteworthy. Also, you act as though we're against you and that this is a personal attack or vendetta on you, rather than criticism of the idea for an addition committee. You need to understand that the idea was (1) your first, (2) not the greatest, and (3) hopefully not your last. I'm not sure what you mean by your second comment; "wikignoming" is the pruning of various articles and fixing things up. This was a radical idea that flopped, and now you're acting like we're holding you down. — Lapper (talk) 21:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Hey, sorry Mr. Jangles, I didn't intend my comment to be mean or anything. I was trying to make it obvious why we don't think that we need this committee. It's great that you're coming up with ideas on how to make the wiki work better! And we do encourage new users to be bold. Keep on trangling! Loafing 21:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Concur with deletion: I've no doubt this was created with the best of intentions, but I don't see that it performs any useful function per Lapper and Loafing's comments. Heimstern Läufer 21:38, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
dude, i dont take it to be offensive. and i did register yesterday, but i had another account previously. sooo yeah. peace--Jangles5150 21:54, 24 January 2007 (UTC) did i also mention that im only 12. and 3/4. soo if my idea is not the best, excuse me. --Jangles5150 21:57, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
There you go again; just because we don't think it's a good idea doesn't mean you need to justify it with your age. What you need to do is own up to the fact that yes, you did think of this and the concensus is negative. But guess what? No one's looking down on you. What we don't need is a "so what?" attitude. Now, if you would just provide an answer to the original question, we can all move on. — Lapper (talk) 22:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
what was the origianal question? --Jangles5150 22:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
What function does the committee serve that isn't already served by the user population in general? — Lapper (talk) 22:11, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
man, it was one of those things where your not really thinking. and i accept full responsibility for it. --Jangles5150 22:12, 24 January 2007 (UTC) oh yeah. to answer the question. there is no answer. not really. --Jangles5150 22:13, 24 January 2007 (UTC) Well, if the creator agrees that it doesn't really serve much of a purpose, I think we have a stable reason for deletion. --TotalSpaceshipGirl3 22:15, 24 January 2007 (UTC) yes exactly. i said that like, an hour ago. --Jangles5150 22:16, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
You said it before you knew you were supposed to plead your case. The page will be gone soon, in any case. — Lapper (talk) 22:19, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
ok just end it. pull the plug. kill it. i didnt think it would be an epidemic. --Jangles5150 22:20, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
