STRONG BAD: Checkin' emails for a livin', a livin'. I'm checkin' emails for life. {begins reading}
Dear Strong Bad,
I wonder what Pom Pom's family looks
like.
Jaro from Podunk
STRONG BAD: Er, sounds like a pretty cool guy. {typing} Well, Jaro, I myself have never seen Pom Pom's family, but I'm sure that they bear the same resemblence to Pom Pom that my family bears to me.
{A postcard with all three brothers Strong appears. It reads "Birds of a Feather." It stays onscreen for a moment as drums play in the background, and then vanishes.}
STRONG BAD: So let's see if we can't theorize what his kinsfolk might look like. {says "like" as "a-like"}
{Cut to a solid white screen. Pom Pom moves across and stops at the left-hand side.}
STRONG BAD: {voiceover during the entire scene} Okay, Pom Pom has got an orange head, so I'm sure his brother's head would look like a bulldog.
{A bulldog's head appears.}
STRONG BAD: And he'd have a horse leg for a body... and leg.
{A horse leg appears, and the camera scrolls up to show that it's attached to the bulldog head directly.}
STRONG BAD: And he'd have boxing gloves for hands—
{Skinny Strong Bad-like arms appear on either side of the bulldog.}
STRONG BAD: —just like all normal people do.
{The arms swing.}
STRONG BAD: Eh, his name is probably "Stom Stom,"—
{Camera zooms in on the character, and "STOM STOM" appears at the bottom of the screen.}
STRONG BAD: —I'm thinkin'. Ooh, another sibling might very well be a pair of headphones—
{Stom Stom vanishes, and a pair of headphones takes his place.}
STRONG BAD: —with a floaty face inside.
{Arms, legs, a floating face, and a cord all appear around the headphones.}
STRONG BAD: You know,—
{The screen splits to show Pom Pom bobbing in The Field on the right-hand side.}
STRONG BAD: —because Pom Pom floats a little... bit, when he walks.
{Pom Pom walks off stage left. The split vanishes with him.}
STRONG BAD: That must be his little sister: "Stella Do."
{The words "Stella Do" appear on the bottom of the screen, and Stella waves her arms.}
STRONG BAD: Oh, and Pom Pom talks in bubbles, right?
{Pom Pom replaces Stella.}
POM POM: {bubbles}
STRONG BAD: So, naturally, his parents would be a file cabinet.
{A file cabinet appears for a moment. Then it shifts to The Field, where Stella Do, Stom Stom, the File Cabinet, and Pom Pom all stand together. Stom Stom rocks his upper body back and forth a few times, and Stella bobs up and down.}
STRONG BAD: Man, that's a good-looking family right there. They could be one of those families on the cover of board games that look way too enthusiastic about playing a board game together.
{The screen shifts to static for a moment, and then cuts to the words "Get Ready!!!"}
UNSEEN AUDIENCE: Get ready!!!
{A box for "Jurvy-Skat" appears with a pop. Pom Pom and his made-up family appear on the cover.}
ANNOUNCER: Ah-ha-ha, that's right! Get ready for Jurvy-Skat, the classic game of "Oh, no you don't!"
{The camera shows a closeup of two piles of cards, a red pile labeled "Jurvy" next to the words "Pick One" and a yellow pile labeled "Skat" next to the words "Don't Pick One." Pom Pom's hand grabs a "Jurvy" card.}
ANNOUNCER: Pick a card!
{Pom Pom's hand reaches for a "Skat" card, but he doesn't take it.}
ANNOUNCER: Don't pick a card! Pick a card now!
{Pom Pom's hand grabs a "Jurvy." Zoom out to shot the whole family around the board game, with Stom Stom hitting the table over and over.}
ANNOUNCER: Jurvy-Skat from Boardelectrix is great for ages two to filing cabinet!
{Stom Stom hits Pom Pom in the back of the head. Pom Pom angrily attacks him and the whole family joins in on the fight. Cut to the box again.}
ANNOUNCER: Jurvy-Skat from Boardelectrix! Goodtime family fun!
{As these last three words are said, the words "Goodtime Family Fun" appear at the bottom of the screen.}
ANNOUNCER: {quietly} Hey, that's pretty good. Goodtime family fun. You— w— we should trademark that.
{A "TM" appears next to the words with a chime. Cut back to the Compy}
STRONG BAD: {typing} I wish they'd invite me over for some of that action. Order a pizza, rent a movie, play some game with a million pieces that takes three hours just to set up only to find out that you're missing the bathtub. Now that is some Goodtime Family Fun™. {clears screen} I wonder if Pom Pom would be cool if I started putting the moves on Stella Do. She's got some hotness methinks. That floaty face. {not typed} Ooh! {typing} Oh, wait. She's just hypothetical. Why are all the best girls hypothetical these days? Lemme tell ya, the hypothetical make-out session...not gonna cut it.
{The Paper comes down.}
Easter Eggs
- Find the hidden Strong Bad head for a scene with Strong Bad and Stella Do in The Field.
- STRONG BAD: So, Stella Do, wanna come over to my place tonight?
- {Pom Pom's silhouette bounces on from stage left.}
- STRONG BAD: I could maybe plug you into my record player...
- POM POM: {bubbles angrily}
- STRONG BAD: Oh! Pom Pom! Uh, look man, it's strictly hypothetical between us, I swear! I never touched her floaty face!
Fun Facts
Trivia
- The Jurvy-Skat cover reads:
The Game of Classic Game of Jurvy-Skat "Oh, No You Don't!" 1-43 Players Ages 2 to Filing Cabinet 900,000 pieces boardelectrix
Remarks
- Pom Pom's parents were seen in Pom Pom, Too, but there they were simply differently-colored Poms. Strong Bad also wrote them a letter in pom pom. Also, in Kick-A-Ball, Tim Tom (a cousin of Pom Pom) was seen, and is indeed a different colored Pom, and nothing more.
- "Jaro" is also the name of an enemy in the game Stinkoman 20X6.
Goofs
- The title of this email is misspelled. It should be "Family Resemblance". Likewise, Strong Bad misspells the word in his reply.
Inside References
- This is another mention of pizza.
- "Boardelectrix" is a reference to The Brothers Chaps' and their Flash programmer Jonathan Howe's fake game-making company: Videlectrix.
- Strong Bad saying that Pom Pom's parents would be a file cabinet is an instance of singular instead of plural.
Real-World References
- The game with the missing bathtub is Mouse Trap, a game that has many pieces (including a bathtub) and takes a long time to set up.
Fast Forward
- Boardelectrix later appeared on the site making "THE SHOW! STUPID HOME EDITION!" in geddup noise.
- In Homestar Ruiner, Homestar will occasionally say "Look at me! Don't look at me! Look at me now!"
