HRWiki:Changing username

From Homestar Runner Wiki

The user name users choose for themselves is no longer set in stone. On request, bureaucrats can change user account settings and article histories such that all previous edits of a given user are attributed to the new name using Special:Renameuser. Note: You must make the request from the account you want renamed; anonymous requests (except users whose usernames begin with a lowercase letter and therefore cannot log in) are ignored for security reasons.

Contents

Requesting a change

To change your user name, please make your request on this page. Please follow the procedure carefully or your request will not be fulfilled.

Instructions

  1. Check if the new name you want does not exist (Special:Listusers). Do not create an account under the new name. (If you already created the new account, don't worry. We can do some stuff and fix it, but it's still recommended that you don't.)
  2. Sign in with the account that you want renamed.
Of course, this is not possible if your account has a lowercase first letter. If you can't log in, then skip this step.
  3. Add your request to the bottom of the section below. Use the following template: {{renameuser|Old username|New username}}
  4. Once your request is dealt with, all edits from your old account will be reattributed to your new account.
  5. Move and redirect your user page and talk page to the new name if it has not already been done.

Current requests

Please use this template for new requests: {{renameuser|Old username|New username}}

Peter222

I don't really like my username. To many 2's. If you get rid of one it'll bother me less. Thank you.-PeterImage:Petersig.png

On your user page, you state "I also despise my username", which says to me that you would not want to be stuck with Peter22. In order to avoid having to change your name a second time, I'm just going to wait till you come up with something you like as opposed to something that doesn't bother you as much. — It's dot com 03:53, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
The excessive two's are the only reasons I dislike it. If I have one less I'd be fine with it and probably wouldn't change it again. Peter22 would not bother me at all.-PeterImage:Petersig.png
That's not what you said above. Your signature is just "Peter", so how about that? — It's dot com 04:16, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Dramatic

I want more people to recongnise me as the guy fom the fanstuff that I am. Dramatic one: Dramitic, too?

The user "Smartie" does not exist. — It's dot com 20:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Sorry. Fixed. Now what? Dramatic one: Dramitic, too?
Done. — It's dot com 22:10, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Lux Acerbus

This may just be me being paranoid, but somebody phished one of my accounts on another website recently, so if they got access to my email they might be able to figure out how to log in as me here. Anyway, after that I'd just like to move away from using "Lux Acerbus" for anything in case they do recognize this as my account. That and it'll help keep my username consistent with my accounts for everything else. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 00:10, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

Hmm. "That Guy Over There" is kind of a nondescript name. You really use it for all your online accounts? — It's dot com 14:52, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
Well, some. Actually, I wrote that when I was wanting it to be changed to "Mr. Upstage." That's just the humor in it, that it's nondescript. Anyway, I don't think the fact that it's nondescript makes it any less good for identifying me. It is, after all, a username and nobody else has that username. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 14:59, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. JamesLucas (" " or +) 12:49, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Hrjcm

When I made the account, the h was lowercase, but because it was automatically capitalized, I want the r capitalized too, so it can be like the fanstuff wiki. JCM 15:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Sean262

Thanks!

That name has not been registered (neither of them have, actually). Feel free to create a new account with that name. — It's dot com 15:30, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

O98-111-114-113

I don't like my username. I created it when I was in a state of confusion. I'd like to change it to I'd like to change it to Blow Up the Ocean, like from the Cheat Commandos cartoon. I am also known as Blow Up the Ocean on the forums. --98.111.114.133 17:55, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

blackbelt

Account name starts with a lowercase letter. Don't know why I didn't use this name in the first place, it's in use everywhere else (including Wikipedia). Thanks. 63.165.74.146 15:06, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

bri64

Account name starts with a lowercase letter.

The user "bri64" does not exist. — It's dot com 06:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Gavino

I don't like this name and I use raiku now. This is my favorite username on anything. Gavino

Actully, I would like Sylar, please. ¡ÉlGavino! 01:17, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
If you can't make up your mind, I'm inclined to just leave your name the way it is. — It's dot com 01:30, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I made up my mind, and I want Sylar. Could you do it on the forum too? Hello? That's my choice. ¡ÉlGavino! 01:31, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Hello. I'm not going to change it right away, to make sure you're not going to change your mind again. — It's dot com 02:25, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I promise I won't ¡ÉlGavino! 02:25, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Fine. Done. — It's dot com 02:40, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

MichaelXX2

I like Homestar VS. Yoshi better than my old one. It has more fun to it. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 04:10, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

You've established yourself pretty firmly under your current name, and so I don't think it should be changed. — It's dot com 06:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I was kind of being paranoid at the time. Now that I look at it, I don't really like Homestar VS. Yoshi that much anymore.

Sylar

I changed because I don't really like Sylar. Raiku 04:30, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

I think Sylar is a great username (being the Heroes fan that I am). When I saw that's what you picked after being "Gavino" I personally celebrated the change. Quick, change your mind! =] OptimisticFool 04:35, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and now I just read what you said here .. yeah, umm.. I think you're going to get denied anyway. That's not really up to me, but I'd suggest you get used to the idea that the change may not happen. OptimisticFool 04:38, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
You've got to be kidding me. — It's dot com 06:04, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Not Dennis

Not really likin' the Thy Dungeonman themed username, plus this one sounds better. YOu get the reference right?-ND

Did you mean Lifty Fernandez? — It's dot com 01:56, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Oh yeah, sorry, Lifty. Thinkin' it was Shifty all this time.
To be honest, I like "Not Dennis" better. I look at it as a "Not X" and "Dennis" combination, not a Thy Dungeonman reference. But then again, I'm not that big of a Homestar Runner Universe game-player. More on that later. I'd keep it. --70.253.165.204 00:56, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, probly should keep it, but I might change in the distant future, when I've made more edits and therefore earned it.

Random832 account

I could not register my usual username due to the automated similarity check. Random832 account 20:51, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Fixed it for you. — It's dot com 02:40, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

ApocalypX

Be it my current name I used on the HRFWiki and on the corresponding HRFWiki forums, I feel as if I should do the same here, despite lack of activity. Count X Talk Email 04:21, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

I've already changed your name once. Furthermore, you need to stop using your Count X signature. — It's dot com 15:51, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
I haven't been active to change it :V Count X Talk Email 20:28, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
There already is a Vindicator, wait, you are the one on the WUW and the forum? Raiku 20:47, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Red And Black

I would really like to use it. Elementio 01:47, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Done. — It's dot com 02:17, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Pompomerania

It's dot com, please save me! My username is identical to a country's name in Strong Badia the Free, and the people here said to not make your username identical to a Homestar Runner thing! Please save me... --Pompomerania 01:06, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

The only real restriction is that you can't have the name of one of the twelve main characters. It's not really necessary to tack anything on to the end of your name. — It's dot com 04:10, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
So Pompomerania is good? And "The Paper" is ok? (Yes, I know that "The Paper" is taken.) And "Compy 386" is ok? But "Homsar" isn't? Thanks! Pompomerania has a nice sound that I don't want to be interrupted. --Pompomerania 17:15, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Yes. We actually have a highly respected user called The Paper. — It's dot com 18:49, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Sylar

I have grown to hate it Sylar. Raiku 04:36, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Two months ago, I didn't want to change your name to Sylar because I knew you would just change your mind. You promised you wouldn't. Then, when you did change your mind three weeks later, I told you you've got to be kidding me. It's all on this page! Just read it above! Give me one good reason why I should change your name again. — It's dot com 04:40, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
It was a test, I started it on the wuw, to see if I would like it. For a little bit I did, but I missed my name that I use on EVERYTHING. It will most likly be my name for ever. Raiku 04:41, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
I'm going to do this, but let's be clear about something: I'm doing it because changing your name makes it easier for us to keep track of you, not because we're rewarding either your indecision or the fact that you keep pestering us. — It's dot com 05:03, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
