HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 17 (Apr 21-27)

Perhaps another pseudocharacter. How about Drive-Thru Whale or Wagon Fulla Pancakes? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 19:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I think it might be too soon for a pseudocharacter. We have Frank Benedetto and possibly Biscuit Dough Hands Man in about a month's span. How about another category of article, such as TV Shows. wbwolf (t | ed) 01:02, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
To do that one, we'd need to expand its prose intro by at least a few sentences. Anyone want to do that? Heimstern Läufer 06:55, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
How 'bout Atari 2600? MHarrington 01:12, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
This one would also definitely need an expansion of the intro first. Heimstern Läufer 01:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Then how 'bout Atari Dragon? MHarrington 01:24, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
I like the idea of featuring Atari 2600. Let me take a stab at trying to expand that intro... wbwolf (t | ed) 06:09, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
It's probably long enough now by a hair (if anyone can expand a bit more, it would be great, but we can probably live with it now). Heimstern Läufer 15:55, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 18 (Apr 28-May 4)

How about doing a name used commonly in the website, like Dennis, Dan or Douglas? MHarrington 04:43, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Of the three, I'd say that Dan is the biggest running gag. However, the intro would need to be expanded in order to get on the FA page. The other two, I think are pretty short. (Though Dennis is close...) wbwolf (t | ed) 01:10, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
But Dennis has the longest intro. MHarrington 15:39, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
I do like Dennis better. Homestar-Winner (talk) 20:18, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm not convinced either of these is really ready to feature right now. For Dan, the problem is that the intro is too short, making it hard to make a substantial write-up. By contrast, the intro of Dennis is fine, but there is scant content outside the intro. Remember, the writeup has that link saying (more...). We need to have something, and not just a little bit, that makes that link worthwhile, and I don't think Dennis is really there yet. Heimstern Läufer 00:52, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Then how about doing something entirely different, like Analysis of Homsar's Speech Patterns? MHarrington 06:25, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
That article always has been, and I suspect always will be, too speculatory to belong on our main page. Heimstern Läufer 00:01, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
How about Strong Bad's Mount Ridesplace USA, then? MHarrington 18:17, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, we don't feature places too often, so that could be interesting... not to mention that the article includes one of my favourite jokes in the HR canon: the old Riverquest Safariventure. The intro could possibly use a teeny expansion to make this work, but I generally like the idea. Heimstern Läufer 18:19, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
MAYBE we could do Craig Zobel or a secret page on the site? Of course i dont this'll be too popular but 3d Character Variations? would definitely need an expanded intro but id do that if any one wanted me to. Physicsguymonsterman 12:07, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 19 (May 5-11)

Homestar Runner and Marzipan's Relationship? Bad Bad Guy 03:11, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

That one would need to be expanded a bit. MHarrington 06:36, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
Although I like this article, and just expanded it, I would wait on it for now. We don't have that many relationship articles, especially ones fit to feature, and we did feature SB and HR's relationship not long ago. I'd hate for us to exhaust them so soon. Heimstern Läufer 23:19, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

As much as I feel embarrassed to nominate an article I worked on, what about the Late Nite JengaJam Interview - 4 Oct 2007? Even if we don't take it now, something to get the ball rolling on an empty week... wbwolf (t | ed) 14:09, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

How about The Screen Savers Interview - 24 Jan 2005? At least that one has a picture. MHarrington 01:19, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
My 2 ideas are sbcg4ap or sbasaf

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 20 (May 12-18)

Either a week of entertainment running gags or 1 gag featured the whole week. (I think if we only had to pick 1, Peanuts is the worthiest) Bad Bad Guy 22:06, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, the only problem with that one is that its intro would have to be DRASTICALLY expanded. MHarrington 00:00, 18 March 2008 (UTC)
How about featuring a classic toon. A Jorb Well Done is long overdue for being featured. wbwolf (t | ed) 03:40, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
A Jorb Well Done is a fine toon, and should definitely be featured. There's even enough enticing trivia to expand on it (namely the bit about it originally being animated in an older style, and then updated. The only toon I know of to go through a reanimationing and style change). --DorianGray 03:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 21 (May 19-25)

A Food or Drinks Running Gag. How about General Tso's Chicken, Fluffy Puff, SBLOUNSKCHED! Bar, or Homestar Jr.? User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 23:21, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Not exactly running gags, but meh. Fluffy Puffs have been around forever and are clearly important in the H*R universe. I think they'd make a good feature (though the article might need a little improvement). Heimstern Läufer 23:45, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Besides, we already did a foods week not that long ago... Fluffy Puff Marshmallows would be a worthy possibility for a week long feature (and it was suggested as a possibility in the earlier discussion). wbwolf (t | ed) 00:35, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
How about a clothing running gag? Like Bowler Hats? MHarrington 01:28, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, we already have three people interested in featuring Fluffy Puffs. Can you contribute a bit to the discussion by explaining why you think we ought to look at Bowler Hats instead? Remember, this is a discussion, not a vote, and just throwing out ideas without responding to previous suggestions doesn't really help. Heimstern Läufer 04:20, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh, I'm sorry, I thought the Fluffy Puff ones was on a different week. Sorry, my mistake. Sure, we can do Fluffy Puff. MHarrington 05:31, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 22 (May 26-Jun 1)

Heading into summer - how about a week of featuring emails which introduced important songs and musical motifs? I'm thinking guitar, techno, death metal, different town, concert, candy product, and end it with rock opera. Order might be better switched up a little. Believe it or not, none have been featured, and all are of importance to TBC's musical ouevre. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:31, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm really tired of these suggestions for running daily FAs. Most of the time, the suggested daily articles usually important enough to be featured for the entire week or too short to be noted at all. The emails noted here are a good example of this problem. guitar or techno, for example, are very important emails, and should get a week by themselves. In fact, any of the suggested emails should get an entire week. Personally, I'd start with techno for this week, and leave the rest for a later time. wbwolf (t | ed) 03:14, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, your position is definitely noted. I don't think we do dailies all that often. When we do, it's due to a strong theme and a series of strong contributors to that theme. I would agree that the two emails you cite, along with several of the others, could get a week to themselves. The fact that they all reside on the nomination list and have never been featured is conspicuous. And this also delves into why we feature articles in the first place - is it to give every article its due, or to give the visitor their due? I think a week of dailies compels the visitor to return, to maybe get active. I think they are good things for the wiki. I can see how others might argue to the contrary, and that's cool. I kinda think this idea is a strong one. Just my opinion. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:36, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
How about Summer Short Shorts? MHarrington 03:07, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
I think that would be more appropriate to feature when it's actually summer rather than the end of May. Heimstern Läufer 04:41, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
How about Sweet Cuppin' Cakes? Or maybe a character in it like Eh! Steve! (my idea was previously rejected above.) Homestar-Winner (talk) 12:10, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I'm game for that. MHarrington 16:15, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, Sweet Cuppin' Cakes is an excellent idea I will support. But please remember my themed musical week when enough time has passed for such a daily week to be appropriate, if you would. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:08, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
I certainly will. Let's let it go for a while and then see. MHarrington 04:52, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 23 (Jun 2-8)

How about doing a short? Like an OLD short, such as... Strong Bad Sings? MHarrington 06:23, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

I'd go with that. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 21:52, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Do you think there's enough content there for a decent writeup? It's a pretty short toon with no real plot, so I'm not so sure. Maybe someone would like to take a stab at it in their userspace and see if we can get a writeup? Heimstern Läufer 23:23, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Well then, how about Kick the Can? MHarrington 02:19, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 24 (Jun 9-15)

I'm up for an important place. There always been The Field, The Stick and Homestar Runner's House? However, The Field would drastically need an intro cleanup, and The Stick would need an intro cleanup too. Homestar Runner's House is the best choice, so I'd go with that. That's always been around since like day 5. Unless anybody else can think of something else, I'm for Homestar's House. User talk:Sam the Man Sam the Man 21:52, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Of the three, I'd say we do Homestar Runner's House. Of course, The Stick and especially The Field have been around forever, but as you said they need to be updated, so the armless white guy's abode would be the best bet. MHarrington 01:44, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Maintenance coming in: We're going to far out in terms of dates right now. We're now talking about eleven weeks ahead of today; we really should keep the discussions a little closer than this. Go ahead and discuss this one, but could we please not add any more weeks for a bit? Thanks. Resume discussion. Heimstern Läufer 23:02, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and if I might make a bit of a plug: I'm working on a subpage about guidelines for FAS: User:Heimstern Läufer/FAS. I welcome comments and improvements, especially from any regulars in the discussion here. Heimstern Läufer 19:14, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 25 (Jun 16-22)

A Folky Tale? Full-length toon with quite a bit of content, not to mention funny. Heimstern Läufer 04:50, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

I hate to burst your bubble, but if we're going to be featuring A Jorb Well Done for Week 20, then maybe we should do something else, so that we don't have to worry about exhausting everything instantly. I think that's what you said about "Homestar and Marzipan's Relationship". I would like to feature this, though; just not so soon. MHarrington 05:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, the comparison is not exactly valid. There are many toon articles that can be featured, but few relationship articles. Heimstern Läufer 05:10, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, alright, I guess we can do it, then. MHarrington 06:26, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

HRWiki:Featured article for 2008, week 26 (Jun 23-29)

How about Summer Short Shorts? It would have to be summer by now. MHarrington 01:36, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
