Pursuant to this discussion, this item is under APPEAL on the following grounds:
- At the time this item went through the process (which was still in its infancy), we did not have an Explanations subsection of Fun Facts. Now that we do, this item is a perfect fit for that category.
Below is a summary of the original arguments and votes:
Arguments for:
- Interesting.
- Even though this is a little obvious to some, it's not so obvious to others.
Arguments against:
- Too obvious; it's probably one of the most well known mathmatical formulas, right up there with the pythagorean theorem.
- Irrelevant.
All original votes count. If you wish to change your vote, move it to the end of the list above and cross it out with <s></s> tags. Then add your name to the list below.

Arguments for:
- We often note things like this in the Explanations section.
- It's obscure enough that not everyone knows what it is.
Arguments against:
- Too obvious; it's probably one of the most well known mathmatical formulas.
- If a person doesn't know what the quadratic formula is, odds are he or she won't know what a quadratic equation is either.
- That's what the links are for.
- It would still be better if the wiki gave a definition the was not dependant on the knowledge of the word "quadratic".
Additional comments:
- This fact was actually on the page for two months before someone noticed it had been previously declined and removed it.
