::::::I created group-developer and group-proprietor, which set the names in the dropdown. We can also create grouppage-developer and grouppage-proprietor, to make them link someplace, like sysop and bureaucrat do. Alternatively, we could delete grouppage-bot to get rid of the link there. (Side note: Should it be "Proprietor" or "Proprietors"? There's technically two of them after all...) 07:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't recall 1.7 on windows mobile but i'm sure 1.8 looks better.
 +
it actually looks better than most sites do, but the edit + etc appear under the article instead of above.
 +
overall, very good.
 +
incidentally,
 +
reading the whatzit-code is nearly impossible on a pda

:The mobile skin is not a standard part of 1.8 and is still experimental. — It's dot com 12:16, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Safari link oddity

tiny arrow

Here's a very minor oddity. The links to the articles edited in Recent Changes (when viewed in Safari, but not Firefox) have a small arrow after them. This also happens on the Most Viewed Pages links on Special:Statistics. Trey56 06:50, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

I don't see them. What version, etc.? — It's dot com 06:52, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Version: 1.3.2 (v312.6) ... Maybe just a bug in an outdated version of Safari... Trey56 06:54, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Works fine in 2.0.4 (on 10.4.8). — It's dot com 06:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Looks like I just have to upgrade my browser — thanks. Trey56 07:04, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
It looks like this computer (Safari 2.0.4) has that same problem. I can't take a screenshot at the moment, however. — Lapper (talk) 16:55, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
I still can't replicate this. Maybe it's some setting in your Safari prefs. — It's dot com 21:31, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Updates pages, Template:updates-box

It would seem that 1.8 + Firefox do not like the template there; it puts the lines from the headers right through it. —BazookaJoe 13:43, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

In addition to Firefox for Windows, I see the same thing in IE for Windows and in Firefox and Safari for Mac OS. — It's dot com 14:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Should be fixed now... --phlip TC 18:53, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Strong Bad Email tables

On Firefox for Windows, I still see "cols="3" width="33%">" starting all four tables on Strong Bad Email. I tried a hard refresh and I even purged the cache for that page. This diff shows Dot com removing only the < before the cols in the Lappy 486 era table, and that's certainly not what a revision to edit #377200 would have done. Trying to save that version again will not get logged in the database, so I'm guessing it's good for everybody else and it's probably a problem on my end, so I'll keep trying. (P.S. It doesn't work in IE.) —BazookaJoe 19:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

P.S. This has already been fixed. — It's dot com 20:06, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
P.P.S It works now. What's with all of my problems? 1.8 is like the phantom bug version... —BazookaJoe 20:10, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Undelete Page

I'm seeing Fatal error: Call to a member function getPrefixedText() on a non-object in /home/hrwiki/public_html/includes/SpecialUndelete.php on line 472. Thunderbird 20:39, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Fixed. — It's dot com 21:18, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disappearing Page

I don't know if this is because of the change or not, but when I was visiting Secret Pages, whenever I rolled over something, it would disappear and the rest of the page would conform to that. Ex: When I moused over "The Homestar Runner Wiki has upgraded to MediaWiki 1.8. Please report any problems. Thanks," it changed to something like "Wiki upgraded 1.8. Please. Thanks." This happened with the tables, too. I'm using Safari and this only happened when I was on that page. -Brightstar Shiner 22:49, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Does it still happen after a restart? I can't make it happen using Safari 2.0.4 running Mac OS 10.4.8. — It's dot com 23:32, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
I turned it off a couple of hours ago and now that I'm back on, I went to the article and it was perfectly normal. I've had times when Nebulon froze up my computer and then never did again, so maybe it was just being weird. -Brightstar Shiner 01:40, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Allow blocks on anonymous users only?

Under the list of major changes for 1.8 it says "Allow blocks on anonymous users only". What does this mean? Does it mean that regular members can block anonymous users, or that admins can only block anonies? SaltyTalk! 02:14, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

It means that when a sysop blocks an IP, we have the option to only have it block anonnies – real users with accounts that happen to edit from the same IP aren't affected. Whether the blocked IP can create accounts to edit with is another, separate, option on the block page. --phlip TC 02:21, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Its usefulness is more apparent at a very large wiki like Wikipedia; I doubt it will get much use here, if any. (See also bug 550.) — It's dot com 02:22, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HRWiki:Bureaucrats

This user class became linked, so I created a page at the destination. Is there any way to either link all classes to one all-encompasing page with subheadings, or create links and pages for the other user classes, such as proprieters and developers? It seems silly to have pages for only a couple of classes. Thunderbird 03:42, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

What Specialpage is it linked at? I'm curious. —BazookaJoe 05:26, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Special:Listusers/bureaucrat. Before, all the user groups linked to HRWiki:Administrators... now they're linked individually. --phlip TC 05:39, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Ahhh, I see. Hey, I don't know if these are in the MediaWiki namespace, but "developer" and "proprietor" are really bugging me (see the drop-down menu). They should be changed to "Developers" and "Proprietor" for consistency/sensibility. Either that, or we could lowercase "Sysops", "Bureaucrats", and "Bots" and pluralize "developer". Same upper/lowercase consistency should be applied to the titles next to the user names. Thanks for coping with my mild OCD. <3, BazookaJoe 05:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
We apparently also have HRWiki:Bots now too. Dunno what we're gonna do with that one... --DorianGray
Basically the only mention of bots that we have is at HRWiki:Blocking_Policy#Bots. (That's I can find right now... there might be more information concerning the appropriateness of User:Valerie and User:GrapeNuts somewhere...) So if anybody wants to do some writing/expanding, keep that in mind. —BazookaJoe 06:03, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

That would be located, I assume, at MediaWiki:Group-bot-name, MediaWiki:Group-sysop-name, and MediaWiki:Group-bureaucrat-name. — Lapper (talk) 16:25, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
