Very often, a character will impersonate or dress up like another character, usually for a prank.

- A Jumping Jack Contest — The Cheat pretends to be Homestar Runner and Strong Bad, Strong Mad pretends to be Strong Bad, and Strong Bad dresses like Pom Pom to get the trophy.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 3.0 — Strong Bad prank calls Marzipan pretending to be her.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 4.0 — Strong Bad and The King of Town both call pretending to be each other in order to clear their names.
- Email halloweener — Homestar gets dressed up, poorly, as Strong Bad.
- Where's The Cheat? — Strong Bad pretends to be Homestar when he calls Marzipan, not knowing that Homestar was already at Marzipan's house.
- Pumpkin Carve-nival — Strong Bad dresses up as Homestar, and The Goblin dresses as Strong Bad.
- A Decemberween Pageant — Homestar takes the role of The King of Town in the play.
- Email interview — Strong Bad imitates Homsar during his fake interview.
- Dangeresque — Strong Sad plays the stunt double of the characters his brothers and Homestar play.
- Email impression — Homestar, Strong Bad, The Cheat, and Homsar all compete in the Strong Sad Lookalike Contest.
- Malloween Commercial — One of The Sad Kids dresses as The King of Town.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 9.2 — Homestar pretends to be Marzipan, Strong Sad, Strong Bad, Coach Z and himself on his fake message tape.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 10.2 — Homestar briefly calls as Strong Bad, until Strong Bad hangs the phone up.
- Email replacement — Strong Bad attempts to disguise The Cheat as a box with The Cheat drawn on it.
- Shopping For Danger — Reynold pretends to be Gunhaver and does missions while the other Commandos are away.
- Email do over — Homestar and The Cheat both dress like each other.
- Senorial Day — Homestar pretends to be Bubs's own "flesh and blood".
- Teen Girl Squad Issue 9 — Mr. Pitters dresses like Cheerleader in hopes of being a "teen girl", only to be eaten by vultures.
- Happy Fireworks — Homestar (with Cardboard Marzipan) impersonates Marzipan while she is out of town for the summer.
- Trogdor Con '97 — Homestar dresses as himself at the convention.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 12.2 — Strong Bad pretends to be all of Marzipan's friends.
- Email secret identity — Strong Bad claims he is actually The Poopsmith.
- No Hands On Deck! — Homestar, once again, impersonates Marzipan with Cardboard Marzipan.
- Email more armies — The Cheat tries to get more visitors for the Cheat Commandos booth by pretending he is Trogdor.
- Quality Time with Cardboard Homestar — Marzipan impersonates Homestar using Cardboard Homestar.
- Email original — Senor Cardgage and Crack Stuntman briefly replace Original Bubs.
- Email bike thief — When New Paper descends at the end of the email, it tries to make itself resemble its predecessor, The Paper.
- Fan Costumes '07, Fan Costumes '08, Fan Costumes 2015, Fan Costumes 2017, and Fan 'Stumes 2019 — Strong Bad imitates Homsar while commenting on costumes of him.
- Email fan club — While Homestar appears in one of Strong Sad's fan fictions, he asks Strong Bad to "check out [his] Strong Sad impression."
- Email shapeshifter — Strong Bad attempts to turn into the King of Town and Bubs.
- Email specially marked — Homestar pretends he's Crack Stuntman using a mask from a Cheat Commandos O's Cereal box.
- Homestar Ruiner — Strong Bad pretends to be Homestar while competing in the Tri-Annual Race to the End of the Race and while leaving people prank calls with Homestar's cell phone.
- Strong Badia The Free — At the Homsar Reservation, Strong Bad speaks in sentences similar to Homsar's in an effort to communicate with him. In addition, Strong Bad dresses up as The King of Town towards the end of the game.
- Email email thunder — Homestar recalls a Hremail in which he dressed as Coach Z. Additionally, Strong Bad does an impression of Homestar's "Apply liberally" line from anything.
- Costume Commercial — Homestar and Bubs dress in Bubs costumes, and Coach Z wears a Marzipan costume.
- Email Comic Book Movie — Strong Bad casts Crack Stuntman as the title character of a Strong Badman movie after deeming him inappropriate for the role.
