Transcript

{A close-up of a bulletin board appears and remains for the entirety of the cartoon. A Limozeen poster, an advertisement for battle axe lessons, and a couple business cards are pinned to the board behind a large notice for Strong Bad's missing Lappy 486 computer. The notice also requests inquiries from guitarists.}

{A touch-tone telephone is heard dialing. The telephone line rings and Strong Bad's answering machine picks up.}

STRONG BAD: Thank you for calling attractive Strong Bad. If you have any information regarding my missing and full-on favorite fold-em-up computer, please leave your name and number. And if you have any hot lixx, please shred them after the tone.

{The answering machine beeps}

CALLER WITH A DEEP, SEEMINGLY DISGUISED VOICE: Hello, Strong Bad. I'm waiting for you—

{The caller coughs, and begins speaking in normal voice. He is revealed to be Strong Sad.}

STRONG SAD: —Oh, excuse me! I had one of those spit bubbles stuck in my throat. Anyways, I'm waiting for you here at the bus station. I just got back from my trip to the Regrettable History Museum. And you were supposed to pick me up... 3 days ago! I guess I'll just be waitin' for you here at the staysh. Listen to me: I've been here so long I'm on a nickname basis with the bus station.

{The answering machine beeps}

{a distorted guitar plays clumsy licks, ending in a downward slide}

THE KING OF TOWN: Ow! In case your mind wasn't totally blown by that blathering solo, my name's "Furious Fingers", from Los Angeles. I'm from L.A.! I own seventeen guitars, with a combined total of forty-three necks. I can provide my own leather pants, and a really cool castle where we can shoot all our videos. Oh, and I also did not eat your laptop computer. Gimme a call. "Furious Fingers", "ow", "leather pants", "from L.A."

{The answering machine beeps}

CALLER WHO SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE MARZIPAN: Hi, Strong Bad. This is your next-door neighbor the crocodile. Can I borrow a cup of sugar? I'm going to make some puppy-dough cookies tonight—

{The caller coughs, switches to his own voice, and coughs again. He is revealed to be Homestar Runner.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: —Ooh! Got a spit bubble stuck in my throat. Anyway, Strong Bad, I was serious about the sugar. And... the crocodile thing.

{The answering machine beeps}

Easter Eggs

"A Trip to the Moon?"
  • When Strong Sad says "Regrettable History Museum", click on the picture of Lappy to see a postcard from the museum.
  • At the end, click on the yellow paper showing the left half of Dolph Hauldhagen to hear his answering machine recording.
DOLPH HAULDHAGEN: Thank you for calling Dolph Hauldhagen, the Instruc-TOR. How many times a day do you ask yourself, "Why do I suck?" I firmly believe that with my battle axe lessons, we can cut that down to two or three. Meet me Wednesday nights at 6pm in Monty Gym. Oh, and leave your axe in your car until the Pilates class is over. Man, those chicks scare easy.

Fun Facts

Explanations

  • This toon was released one week following the Strong Bad Email cliffhangers, when the Lappy was stolen.
  • "Puppy-dough cookies" refer to hushpuppies, deep-fried balls of cornmeal, which are mentioned frequently in retirement.
  • Pilates is a physical exercise program.

Remarks

  • This toon doesn't have any "Back" button at the end.
  • Despite his message stating that his class is on Wednesday evenings at 6pm, Dolph's flyer in the toon still reads "Sat. 6am-9am" as it did in the email other days.
  • The King of Town doesn't have any visible fingers, making "Furious Fingers" an interesting choice for his musical pseudonym.
  • The average number of necks per guitar in the King of Town's collection is about two and one half necks.
  • Strong Sad remarks that Strong Bad was supposed to pick him up three days ago, but he (Strong Sad) "just got back" from his trip.
  • This toon cannot be found on the Toons page as most other "recently added" toons can at the time of their release. The only link to this toon was in the Main Page Messages, and currently there are no pages on the site which link to it.
  • This is another instance of a Gibson Flying V.
  • A "spit bubble" lowered the pitch of Strong Sad's voice, yet it raised the pitch of Homestar's.
