Apparently, the 1990s were an important decade in the Homestar Runner universe, as the characters have alluded to them occasionally. While the 1980s is almost like the "regular" time period for the characters, and is when The Brothers Chaps grew up, the 90's is usually the newer, edgier times. They are the times when a new generation, who liked different things, grew up, and it's reflected in the type of humor made about the decade.
