Despite the substantial number of budding actors in Free Country, USA, many of the main characters appear to have poor acting abilities. In many commercials and stage-productions, the actors talk awkwardly and with little enthusiasm, and may occasionally laugh unconvincingly. On some occasions, even The Brothers Chaps themselves will endulge in some deliberately poor acting.

Appearances

  • A Decemberween Pageant — Most of the characters speak flatly throughout the pageant. Homestar Runner is unaware that he is on stage when he talks to Marzipan at the beginning. Bubs mishears one of Strong Bad's lines and later mispronounces the word "gold". Strong Bad is later "attacked" by a squid and reacts unenthusiastically. In one scene, Strong Bad, Bubs and Marzipan attempt to ad lib, but do so with much difficulty.
  • Email stunt double — All of the characters seem to speak quite slowly during the clips.
  • Cheat Commandos (toon) — When Strong Bad provides the voices of each Cheat Commando toy, he speaks haltingly and unenthusiastically.
  • Email dangeresque 3 — Most of the dialogue in this movie can be considered to be clichéd. Coach Z misses his cue, speaks awkwardly on the phone and manages to muddle his line before asking the director, "How was that?" Strong Bad and Homestar seem to forget their lines during the racquetball scene, requiring them to ad lib, and laugh unconvincingly near the end of the movie.
  • Sample of StyleThe Brothers Chaps talk in cheesy voices throughout the skit.
  • Blubb-O's Commercial — Strong Bad and Homestar Runner act unenthusiastically during this advert. Also, Strong Bad, The Cheat and Strong Mad laugh forcibly near the beginning.
  • SBCG4AP Gameplay Trailer — For the entire duration of this trailer, Strong Bad and Homestar speak unconvincingly and with little enthusiasm. At one point, Strong Bad calls Homestar "Hom...star" and, towards the end, quickly tells The Cheat to "Shut up."
  • SBCG4AP Tutorial — Bubs forgets his part at first. When reminded, he speaks very flatly and unemotionally when he's supposed to be sad. Strong Bad and Strong Sad also say their lines rather impassively. All three characters break out of their parts and speak to each other normally throughout the tutorial.
  • Email being meanCoach Z's Nicetown Players, consisting of Coach Z, Marzipan and Strong Mad, act poorly during their sketch about being nice; many of their lines are non sequiturs, Strong Mad misses his cue and later breaks character to tease Coach Z.
  • Dangeresque 3: The Criminal Projective — The clichés and unconvincing deliveries prevalent in the first two Dangeresque movies are still common. Strong Bad accidentally answers the door before Marzipan knocks. Marzipan breaks character to criticize Strong Bad's explanation of the formula's origin and later again to remind him that she did not want to get her hair cut for the role. Strong Bad has to call Marzipan by her real name instead of her character's name in order for her to notice his distraction. Bubs constantly mispronounces "Dangeresque". Homestar breaks character during the threat video to ask if he should be evil and order a melonade. Coach Z breaks character to express his opinion that Senor Cardgage should not be in the movie, and later again to say that the resolution to the kidnapping case was dumb. Senor Cardgage only says things that do not relate to the movie. Strong Bad breaks out in laughter when he is supposed to shoot a cross-dressing Poopsmith. Senor Cardgage walks away when he is supposed to be dead. When Strong Sad plays the Irish informant, he throws in an irrelevant quote from Dangeresque 1: Dangeresque, Too? because he hasn't gotten the latest script update. Marzipan accidentally calls Strong Bad by his real name instead of his character's name. The Cheat hesitates to say his own character's name.
  • Coach Z's 110% — For the duration of the commercial, Coach Z speaks in a "more toned-down voice" than usual, thus sounding very static and detached. Strong Bad pauses awkwardly during his prerecorded endorsement. In one scene, Homestar acts exhausted and out of breath, before suddenly switching to a more enthusiastic manner.
