United States Presidents are mentioned and seen various times in Free Country, in particular presidents Martin Van Buren and Abraham Lincoln. This is perhaps a nod to They Might Be Giants, who frequently use presidents as a theme in their music.
Appearances
- Fluffy Puff Commercial — Pressing "l" will make a silhouette of Abraham Lincoln's head appear.
- In Everybody to the Limit, this same silhouette is used. Also, pictures of John F. Kennedy and his brother Robert appear in the music video.
- Kick the Can — In one of the tapes, The Homestar Runner's shirt has the words "herbert hoover?" on it.
- Fortune Cookies — One of the "fortunes" reads "Hey, it worked for Taft."
- Email old comics — a quote from President Truman on the King Castlefunny Pencil Moistener reads "Everybody's going to need one!"
- The Cheat's Character Video — The Cheat throws a bust of Van Buren at the camera.
- This bust later appears taped on The Proud Anselmo in space program and as a possible shape for the SBLOUNSKCHED! Bar in candy product.
- Experimental Film — Homestar Runner is playing a game with presidents on the ATM.
- Halloween Potion-ma-jig — Homestar does a bad impression of Ronald Reagan.
- 2 emails — Strong Bad puts a sticky note on the computer reading "Van Buren".
- Teen Girl Squad Issue 5 — George Washington and Abraham Lincoln appear, along with Henry Rollins. They are the "cool or famous" people who look at The Ugly One with her head in the sand, then go tandem parasailing with So and So.
- These characters appear later in Teen Girl Squad Issue 10.
- Puppet Jam: President's Daughter — Homestar and They Might Be Giants make a song about the president's daughter.
- An Open Forum — The background is made up of Abraham Lincoln heads.
- Marzipan's Answering Machine Version 13.2 — William Henry Harrison and James Garfield are mentioned by Old-Timey Strong Bad.
- Email redesign — Strong Bad suggests that the scrolling No Loafing Sign might be misread as "Franklin Delano Loafing", a reference to Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
- Email your funeral - When reading from the phone book, Homestar mentions a pizza place called "Abraham Lincoln's Pizza Cabin".
