William "Refrigerator" Perry The House That Gave Sucky Treats Strong Mad dresses as Refrigerator Perry. William Perry was a defensive lineman for the NFL's Chicago Bears (and, in the twilight of his career, the Philadelphia Eagles). Nicknamed for his 370-lb. frame, Perry became a star in his rookie season, when the Bears won Super Bowl XX.
Shaquille O'Neal helium, autobiography Strong Bad types the sender's name as "Shaq" before quickly deleting it and replacing it with "Shack.", one of the tapes in the "Words I Probably Said" case is labeled "SHAQ-FU" Shaquille O'Neal (nicknamed "Shaq") is a center for the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. He has also played for the Orlando Magic, Los Angeles Lakers Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns winning 3 titles and 3 Finals MVP awards with the latter. He has been named to the All-Star team 15 times and was given the MVP award in 2000.
Kobe Bryant A Decemberween Pageant Pom Pom and Strong Mad star as Kobe #1 and 2 in the pageant. Kobe Bryant is a shooting guard for the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers. Though controversy has dogged him throughout his career, Kobe remains one of the league's brightest stars, leading the Lakers to 4 championships and being named to 11 All-Star teams. Most recently, Kobe has received attention for scoring 81 points in a single game, second only to Wilt Chamberlain's 100.
Tim Duncan the show When Homestar Runner chooses to recite a list, he mentions Tim Duncan. Tim Duncan is a forward for the NBA's San Antonio Spurs. He has been named to 11 All-Star teams in his 10-year career, and the Spurs have won four championships with him on board. Duncan is one of 9 players to have won back-to-back MVP awards (2002 & 2003).

Dick Butkus replacement One of the names which Strong Bad asks Homestar to make fun of is Butkus. Dick Butkus was a linebacker for the NFL's Chicago Bears between 1965 and 1973. During that span, he was named to the Pro Bowl 9 times. Butkus was enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 1979. After his retirement, he worked as a broadcaster and actor. The Dick Butkus award is given annually to college football's best linebacker.
Larry Bird lunch special Clicking on "Larry legend" yields a screenshot of Bird in the Nintendo game "Jordan vs. Bird." Larry Bird (nicknamed "Larry Legend") was a forward for the NBA's Boston Celtics for 13 years before retiring in 1992. During that span, he was named to the All-Star team 12 times, won 3 MVP trophies (1984-6), and led the Celtics to 3 championships. He is now enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
Ben Wallace Halloween Fairstival Strong Mad dresses as Ben Wallace. Ben Wallace is an NBA center who has played for the Washington Bullets/Wizards, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Wallace is considered one of the game's greatest defensive players, holding a record-tying 4 Defensive Player of the Year trophies. He has also been named to 4 all-star teams and won a championship with the Pistons in 2004. At the time Halloween Fairstival was made, Wallace played for the Pistons and had an afro hairstyle.
Pete Sampras Cool Things Upon discovering Marzipan's band, Homestar exclaims, "What in Pete Sampras is going on?!" Considered one of the best male tennis players of all time, Pete Sampras has won 64 men's singles titles. Among those are his 14 Grand Slam titles, including his record 7 wins at Wimbledon, 5 at the US Open, and 2 at the Australian open. His 6 consecutive years atop the ATP rankings constitue another record.
Moses Malone bedtime story The Cheat's bedtime stories consist largely of he and Moses Malone playing video games. One of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players, Moses Malone played for 6 franchises, most notably the Philadelphia 76ers, in his 19 years in the NBA. He also spent 2 years in the ABA before it folded. Malone won 3 MVPs, one championship, and was named to 12 All-Star teams in his Hall-of Fame career.
Alonzo Mourning alternate universe Senor Cardgage wishes Strong Bad "Alonzo Mourning to you." Alonzo Mourning is a center for the NBA's Miami Heat. He has also played for the Charlotte Hornets and New Jersey Nets. Perhaps Mourning's most notable accomplishment is successfully returning from kidney transplant surgery and resuming his NBA career. He has been named to 7 All-Star teams.
Martina Navratilova Decemberween Short Shorts Strong Bad mentions how he was tormented for his Martina Navratilova poster. Martina Navratilova is a former World No. 1 tennis player, and widely accepted as the greatest female player of all time. She has won the woman's single title Wimbledon 9 times, which is a record.
Mookie Blaylock Kick-a-Ball The Umpire tells the Announcer that Mookie Blaylock gave the kickball to his aunt in 1984. Mookie Blaylock is most highly regarded for his quick hands and a ball hawking defensive style that produced more than 200 steals in a season four times and two NBA All-Defensive first-team selections. He was also a capable outside shooter and a fine passer who generally ranked among the league's assist leaders. He was selected by the New Jersey Nets with the 12th overall pick of the 1989 NBA Draft and settled quickly into Nets' rotation, but was later traded to the Atlanta Hawks and then the Golden State Warriors.
