Calligraphy is one of Strong Sad's favorite hobbies. Not suprisingly, there are many references to his remarkable penmanship. His calligraphy pen and inkwell make numerous appearances.

  • Old Characters Page — The description for Strong Sad states that "On the plus side, he has very good handwriting!"
  • Yearbook Character Page — Strong Sad's autograph clearly shows his superb penmanship, displaying this character trait.
  • Email action figure — Strong Sad's action figure comes with an "Atomic calligraphy pen!"
  • Strong Sad's Lament — Strong Sad lists his interests as "Listening, Books, Listening to books, Calligraphy..."
  • Email impression — Contestants of the Strong Sad Lookalike Contest are judged on their appearance, impression, and penmanship. Strong Bad wins the blue ribbon for penmanship, writing "Strong Sad's Fancy Handwriting" in curly-cued letters.
  • Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon — While Strong Bad is in jail, Strong Sad has set up calligraphy scrolls and writes to Strong Bad (aka Professor Tor Coolguy) using his caligraphy pen.
  • Email radio — In a scene demonstrating college radio listeners, Strong Sad is shown doing calligraphy in his room with his calligraphy pen.
  • Email record book — Strong Sad uses his calligraphy pen to transcribe Paradise Lost onto a single grain of basmati rice in four languages.
  • Decemberween Short Shorts — Strong Sad writes his letter to "Argyle Socks" with his calligraphy pen.
  • Email rough copy — Strong Sad uses his calligraphy pen to write "Note to self: Get bigger notebook".
  • Strong Badia the Free — Strong Sad tells Strong Bad that he bought a whole new calligraphy pen to make the royal constitution and bill of rights.
  • Doomy Tales of the Macabre — The entire tale is Strong Sad writing a macabre tale with his calligraphy pen and inkwell. The loading screen is his inkwell and says "loadink".
