Easter Eggs

Shouldn't someone include the Easter Eggs? I myself have not found any of them, but there may still be some. chapien (approved by Homsar!) 18:42, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

That's why it's not on the page. No one has found any yet, and there probably isn't any in the cartoon as of now (at least). DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 18:50, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Big Toon

Shouldn't it be noted that this is the first big toon since 2007? I think that's kind of improtant...

I suppose it's a bit notable, but I'm not sure it merits a mention on the page. The gap between A Dumpy Tale and Weclome Back was similar (11 months), but is not mentioned anywhere on the pages. DevonM(talk·cont-ribs) 19:59, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

this is not a big toon they said is wasnt one

On the main page, before its release, sure. But the Toons menu lists it among the big toons (as in, not Shorts). --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:36, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Zoom zoom

Am I the only one that reminded of Rhino's hamsterball from the movie Bolt when I see Cheat in his space suit? wbwolf (t | ed) 01:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

I was reminded of a hamster ball. But no specific ones. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 01:16, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I was reminded of the gerbil ball for the gerbil my brother used to have... — Defender1031*Talk 01:19, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I was reminded of the cow ball from The Far Side and the ball Bart was in in The Simpsons. — It's dot com 03:41, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I have that panel on my binder. It's one good Far Side. —Guard Duck talk 03:44, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Cape Tedaverill?

There have been a couple of (admittedly poorly worded) attempts to put on the page the fact that the name Ted Averill is a play on Canaveral. I have to say I'm inclined to agree, considering the space launch connection and all. Does anyone else feel similarly? (Though I note that this is not the only place where the name appears, so I don't know if this is the best place to note it). -132.183.151.26 01:51, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

The first time he appears, it's said in such a way that no one would make the connection, so i'm inclined to say no. Also, it's a poor rhyme. If that was their intention, they could do so much better. — Defender1031*Talk 01:53, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I also happen to think it's a reference. The sound-alike quality is definitely more pronounced in Career Day, but I think it's clear enough in Space Program as well. I know there's no way to prove it, but I remember making that connection the first time I saw Space Program; I just never got around to checking its wiki entry. Some kind of scientist 18:33, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

McWhat Nebula?

I'm hearing McCow-Pie Nebula rather than McAlpine Nebula. No? It's funnier. User:Funhaver

I heard it as "cow pie" the first time, but after reading the transcript and listening closely, i must conclude that, sad though it may be, it's "MacAlpine." — Defender1031*Talk 02:45, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I think the "Mc" and the "Al" sounds are blending together to get the "McCow" sound. It sounded somewhat like that when I watched it, too. --DorianGray 03:46, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I think it was supposed to sound like cow pie. It was really said as McAlpine, but meant to sound like cow pie.

Buck the System

It's probably just because I am a huge SOAD fan, but when Strong bad said "Bucking the System" I instantly thought of the System of a Down song "F*ck the System." Anyone else think this? Just wondering if it should be on the real world references page.--Shaokahn280z 19:09, 11 March 2009 (UTC) google results show that it's a pretty common phrase. — Defender1031*Talk 22:28, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Space: Defined by Scientists as the...

When Strong Bad says this while in the shows the space capsule, I believe the way he says this is a refrence to "Space: The Final Frontier", from Star Trek. Should someone add this to the page as a refrence?

I thought of it as well, but i figured it might be too vague. I'm on the fence. — Defender1031*Talk 00:56, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't think this was a reference. I think it was just a joke, and had nothing to do with Star Trek

Blowin' in the Wind

A fact that's been removed from the page several times now involves the fan, which is being used similarly to in magic trick. Looks like a valid fact to me — it's basically the same joke, using the fan to make clothes blow around dramatically — but what do you say? --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 16:39, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

Since I was the one who added the fact, I know I don't have to say I agree, but I'm gonna say it just to acknowledge your post with the other users that will be looking at the recent changes over the next hour or so :) Homestar-Winner (talk) 22:59, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

whating the system?

Is it me, or is "Bucking the System" a reference to a cuss word?--Jellote 19:53, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

It's you. As noted above in a different section, "buck the system" is a common phrase with no etymological relation to the rhyming cuss word. -Alun Clewe 20:20, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I instantly though that as well when I first saw this. "Buck" was definatly used in a similar sence as f*. And this isn't the first time I've seen them use "Buck" instead of f*.

Miles and miles of the spaceman styles...

The chin-curlies on Space Captainface's..er...face struck me as being similar to that of Buzz Lightyear. Most likely a case of TTATOT, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

I'd say either TTATOT, or just a buttchin to make him look more different.--T3H_CH3K7_888 23:42, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
I would agree with that; Captain Quark from the Ratchet and Clank games has the same sort of buttchin.
I agree. I noticed the butt chin the second I saw it.

Toothpick through the gerbil ball

I noticed while watching for the 18th time today that Strap's toothpick goes through his gerbil ball... thing while in space. Why isn't this a Goof? -Corruption (logged in = 0)

The toothpick is too far out of the gerbil ball (in fact, it looks like it's completely outside the ball) for it not to have been an intentional style choice, which would make it not a goof. — It's dot com 00:02, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't belive it was an exact goof, but I definitely thing it wasn't on purpose. If that makes any sense.

Homsar laughing

Let me get this straight - there's an entire ARTICLE dedicated to instances of Strong Bad smiling (a fairly common occurrence), a mention of the Poopsmith singing on-screen, and heck - even a mention of Homestar making a (borderline) grammatical error, but there's no mentioning the very first time Homsar unambiguously laughs at something?

What the heck are these sections FOR if not for pointing out something noteworthy and out of the ordinary? Homsar is a character that's known for being seemingly oblivious to what's going on around him (albeit in a ambivalent sort of way), so this is a COMPLETE departure for him as a character. To suggest anything else is nothing short of absurd. The mention of this unprecedented event should stay, or at the very LEAST be put up for a vote. 0rion 22:59, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

I think it's notable only if we can clearly hear him. BBG 23:05, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
I can hear him, and, to me, it sounds kind of like a more-wavering version of his "AaAaaAAaa!" — fuchsiania 23:08, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
There is, however, a precedent for removing facts like this. --DorianGray 23:09, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
That fact says there were 2 times before when Bubs laughed a little. This fact says this is the 1st time Homsar laughed at all. BBG 23:14, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
From the arguments:
"First time" facts should be reserved for truly momentous firsts. Laughing out loud is not such a first, especially when we can infer that he has laughed out loud before, albeit off camera.
I'm taking the bit from before the "especially" as the precedent here. --DorianGray 23:17, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Laughter in and of itself is unremarkable (after all, the littlest, tiniest babies can laugh), so there needs to be something special about Homsar if his laughter is to be included in the article. 0rion claims that this is a complete departure of Homsar's character, which would indeed be notable if it were true. But is it?
Let's examine the underlying point. I would have no problem with the following fact: "This is the first time Homsar has had an emotional reaction in response to something another character has said," except for one thing—it's completely false. Homsar was "crying on the inside" when he was mistakenly disqualified from the Strong Sad lookalike contest in impression. Furthermore, looking at his various appearances, he is not always oblivious to what's going on (some would actually claim he never is), it's not a departure for his character (or if it is, it's not the first time such a departure occurs), and even though this is the first time we specifically see him laughing, the underlying emotional reaction is not unprecedented. Thus, this isn't a notable first. — It's dot com 01:10, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Wow. I can't belive you people are becoming so worked up about this. Yes, this is the first time Homsar laughs on screen but seriously. this is a wiki, not a baby book. characters have laughed befor, and had no one make a note of it. I think a first laugh by a character in no where near as important as you all are making it seem. User:Origonalname

Mazipan's Teeth'd?

I noticed that Marzipan's teeth show more often in this toon, as well as in Kick-A-Ball. Does this, by any chance, count as further Marzipan evolution? Religious Corn   20:24, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't know, maybe. User:MICGAGUH
I saw some noticeable difference in her eyes. I think Marzipan's eyes have evolved a little bit, but no her teeth. User:Origonalname

Well shut his mouth.

Strong Bad says in Homestar Runner Presents: Presents "Well shut my mouth" as a phrase that seems to mean "That's something I never expected to see happen". This combined with the fact that he has never before seen having an truely shut mouth makes me wonder: Should it be noted that this is the first time Strong Bad shuts his mouth, ableit only in cartoon form? --Jellote 23:01, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

Mixed Art Styles

Should it be remarked that Ted Avarill was drawn by hand and then his mouth was added later using vector art? If you zoom in, you can clearly see that everything besides his mouth is pixelated. --141.224.237.41 23:05, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

Italian Satellite (of love)

Is it just me or does the Italin Spy Satellite look like a winebottle in a basket?

Well, those Italians do enjoy their wine... but no, I think it more resembles just a stereotypical satellite shape. —Guard Duck talk 06:14, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
