We are all understandably shocked and saddened by this news, and we have heartfelt sympathy for TBC and the rest of their family, but it is not our place to do anything more than we have already done. True, but on the other hand, I think it's important for Mike and Matt to know that their fans appreciate them as people. To know that so many people they've never met care enough to say something is a beautiful thing. Look at it this way: while h*r is their job, they don't force people who come to the site to buy anything. So they're spending their times entertaining us, potentially for free. The least we can do is show them that we appreciate them. Of course, flooding them with non-heartfelt emails is wrong, but if you really care and you really want to do something, at least sign the guestbook on the obituary page linked to on this page. -Unknownwarrior33 01:16, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I feel about the same way about it. I was going to say that even though we don't have a NPOV policy, it still seems out of place in the wiki -- it's a bold statement to make, and has no bearing on our usual target (Homestar Runner). And then it turns out that we do have that policy. I think a change of tone could take the edge off of it, but still provide a good transition into the quote. I'm rolling a few things around in my head, and if any of them taste alright, I'll throw it down on the page. How'd this get to be this week's featured article anyways? It's kind of short, and has this line... And yet, it's been there since December 2004. It doesn't, which is why I left that in. It was the direct statement that they had "instilled good values in their children.", which is a bit of a subjective claim and should be stated as such. It's not the wiki's position to be making claims about good values. Just the facts, and just the facts about Homestar Runner. Also, the structure of the sentence implied that their religion was directly related to their good values. Essentially, it sounded like the wiki was endorsing Catholicism and Methodism. Also not a neutral position. So in my edit, I rewrote the subjective claims so that they sounded like subjective claims and not statements of fact, and tried to dilute the strength of the inference by adding more material from the interview. I haven't removed anything, just clarified and changed the tone. On another note, mentioning their religions isn't a neutrality issue, but it may be a violation of privacy. I know that stuff has been removed from the wiki before because people felt that it was inappropriate to delve so much into the lives of people only tangentially related to Homestar Runner, or even stuff about TBC themselves. There are different schools of thought on the relationship between an artist and their work, and whether analyzing one gives insight into the other. My perception is that it's the de facto official position of the wiki to analyze the work, and not the creators, though I can't find an official statement of such policy. Anyway, I left in the mention of their religions because I think the article has already been looked over by those concerned about the privacy of the individuals, and they have made no contention against such mention. -- LGC&CS 21:34, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Julie Chapman

Every other relative of the Brothers Chaps has his or her own page, including some of their other siblings and their aunt and uncle so why does Julie Chapman not have her own article? --Happypasta 05:31, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

In two DVD commentaries (see do over and slumber party) they mention her name. Her face has never been seen, her voice never heard. Basically, the preceding two sentences would be the whole of the Julie Chapman article.. I would love for there to be an article about her, but at present it would be lacking.
