Is this really a case of doubled characters? I thought this was meant to be more of an Ouroborus effect - with the one worm eating it's own tail (and going round and around and around with itself). Of course, in the screwed up world of Sweet Cuppin Cakes, it's never made certain the the worm has only 1 head... [[User:StarLion|StarLion]] 21:56, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Does that one scene from Cheat Commandos where the commandos walk by twice count?--Dwedit 02:39, 22 November 2005 (UTC)

No. That's just (intentional) bad animation. - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
How about the KOT seemingly booing himself from off-screen in geddup noise? I'd say that's an instance, although debatably so. --Shadow Hog 03:51, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Heh, and I would debate that. :) — It's dot com 03:57, 22 November 2005 (UTC)
Same here, especially since (I think) it went to STUFF and died. (I think.) - KookykmanImage:kookysig.gif(t)(c)(r)
Kinda sorta. I'd chalk that one up to it claiming to be a reference to impression (which is doubtful).
But still, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be the case (it's not like uncanny things like that haven't happened before in HSR); just a debate as to whether it is the case. And unless TBC actually up and answer this for us (strongbad_email.exe DVD 5?), I don't think there'll ever be a widely-supported belief that it is the case. I for one think it is the case, considering I definitely heard "boo", but that's just one opinion in a whole lot of others. --Shadow Hog 01:28, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Homestarmecium

I don't think the Homestarmecium from highschool fits the pattern of the phenomenon this page is describing. The cell was just dividing as a joke (and, after all, that's what cells do). — It's dot com 00:26, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

But it did mention that it's "for his twin brother". That make it legit. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 00:28, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but paramecium are meant to divide, it's part of the joke. I don't think it's part of this running gag.--DumDe 20:52, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Main Page 13

Quick question: On Main Page 13, it's possible to get Strong Bad to appear twice - mouse over "Email" first to start the "Freakin' duck" animation, and then mouse over "Characters". Atari Strong Bad will be seen both standing and waving his arms, AND running away from the Atari Dragon at the same time. Does this count as an instance of Twin Characters? — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:04, 10 January 2006 (UTC)

I don't think so, since the viewer is in control of the phenomenon in this case... I dunno what that has to do with it, but it sounds good to me. --DorianGray
I think that is a valid point, but also this: there are two different monkeys throwing coconuts in Main Page 3. Does that count?--Jnelson09 02:42, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Same issue, methinks. They appear to be the same monkey, but you can control when they both appear, so using Dorian's argument above, it wouldn't count. — Image:kskunk_fstandby.gif KieferSkunk (talk) — 19:03, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

HA HA HA!

I think this is the most hilarious running gag on all of Homestar Runner! --Ian911299

This article has too many words on it

I think this article is supposed to document unexplained "real-life" (as far as the characters are concerned) instances, not times where, for style reasons, the same character is seen twice at the same time. With that in mind, there are a lot of things listed on this page that I don't think should count:

It's dot com 22:37, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Agree. Non-real-life instances do not add to the running gag; they just pollute it. —BazookaJoe 02:04, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes. We also shouldn't count Decemberween Teen Girl Squad if we don't count PbTC toons. Loafing 03:33, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Fully agreed. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 08:16, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Secret Song

Secret Song

Do the two Puppet Homestars that sing to each other in Secret Song (video) count as twin characters? Trey56 14:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

I'd say so. I R F 14:41, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
Hmm...I see that this was removed due to the clause in the leading paragraph, "This listing excludes purely stylistic uses of multiple characters through artistic license, as seen in music videos and the like." Yeah, I guess that's right. At first, I was thinking that the two Homestars were interacting with each other, but upon a second viewing it looks like they're both singing to "Secret Song" through the camera. Trey56 01:30, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Even they were not both singing, it would still be an example of artistic imagery in a music video, which in real life never intends to portray that there are multiple instances of one individual. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:38, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

DOUBLED!

I know that this isn't related to any recent changes in Homestarrunner.com, but is the two Arrowed Guys from the Decemberween Teen Girl Squad an example of twin characters? Homestar-Winner (talk) 16:13, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I added the Arrowed guy to the list. I decided that it's a good enough example. Homestar-Winner (talk) 20:53, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
The best way I thought of to keep that, web comics ("It's just a comic that Strong Bad made"), and highschool on the list is to create 1 section for Free Country and 1 section for the other universes. Bad Bad Guy 23:38, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
I see an earlier topic denies the highschool scene as a reference (I don't count it either because the twin doesn't just appear out of nowhere like usual) but I think minigolf would be included in a section about subuniverses (each worm clearly has a mouth, implying that there are 2 normal-sized ones as opposed to 1 really long 1). So, does anyone object to a new section? Bad Bad Guy 21:33, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
