Cleanup

I made some edits to the transcript using the DVD, but it still needs to be expanded a little and double checked. Also, someone (probably TBird) needs to list any changes that for sure are different between the original and the DVD version. — It's dot com 02:40, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Shpping to Canada may take a while, but as soon as my copy arrives I'll do what I can. Feel free to clean it up however you wish in the meantime. The only thing I've got up on you is my visual memories, which aren't really that photographic, especially eight months later. I think they are both grammatical, and "for other uses" is what is used at WP, so I like that one. —BazookaJoe 06:00, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Geeks and...what now?

I just got the Everything Elses a month or so ago, so my apologies for being about three years late on this comment. On watching the short, I was thinking that Homestar was saying either "nerds" or "nords", and quite possibly, Matt had intended to sound like both words. "Nords" would fit, as we are talking about MMOs, and Nord is a common class or race in RPGs, both tabletop and PC. Is it possible we could add a footnote mentioning the discrepancy to the transcript? I don't want to be too bold and do it myself, but if no one argues, I probably will. --Onamuji (b/w T. C.  ) 18:58, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

• Er, hey, what now? I'm a long-term tabletop RPG player, own loads of RPG sourcebooks, and I can't recall any class or race called a "Nord" in any RPG I'm familiar with. Now, I'm not into the MMORPG scene, and it's possible there's a race or class called a "Nord" in one or more of those, but as far as tabletop RPGs, no, it's most certainly not a common class or race. Can you name a tabletop RPG such a class or race appears prominently in? (Not saying no such RPG exists, but it's not one I'm familiar with... and I'm certainly familiar with all the big ones.) -Alun Clewe 19:13, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
  • Okay, just did some Googling, and in a(n admittedly fairly quick and uncomprehensive) Google search the only RPG I can find that has any class or race called a "Nord" is the Elder Scrolls series of computer games. Which is specific enough that it seems very unlikely any reference was intended. So, no, I definitely am against adding any footnote about this; the fact that there happens to be a race called a "nord" in a single PC RPG series isn't grounds for assuming that just because Homestar pronounces a word slightly oddly it's some sort of obscure reference. --Alun Clewe 19:26, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
