Pointless

This article is pointless. Why do we have it? STUBBED!!! --Pertmywert| 03:45, 10 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Agreed. —FireBird|Talk 12:24, 10 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I am usually the first to want to remove dumb pages, but I like this one. Perhaps it needs a more descriptive name. I think the "G" phenomenon is real enough to warrant a mention someplace. - Dr Haggis - Talk 01:14, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I agree with Dr Haggis. We've got three solid references here. (I don't like that last bit about G→J, but whatever). — It's dot com 01:52, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Seconding the keep idea. I never really noticed it, but now that I see it, this phenomenon really intrigues me.

I think it's a good running gag page. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 02:52, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I never noticed this before! -- tomstiff 19:12, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Could this "G" stand for Georgia?--bkmlb
I say keep it and NOT just because it has my picture of the cheat's head exploding.
It's not pointless, it just needs a little mor informaition.--~~Ampi~~meowarchives 20:56, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)
This page is so referance!! Why would you even think it's not one???? I think we should take the "stub" off. --— talk Bubsty edits 23:06, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Ugh, not this too

In Teen Girl Squad Issue 11, Cheerleader wondering if "uggs" has two G's or one is a reference to G.

I don't think this fits the pattern of the running gag. I think the joke is just that she's asking for help so that her speech bubble is correct. — It's dot com 20:39, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

Why don't we STUFF it and let everyone decide from there? "Two G or not two G" could be the title. (By the way it was me who put this fun fact up in the first place so obviously it is human nature to protect it) --Jeppo 22:46, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
It's not a STUFF question. If it belongs on this article, then it's automatically included with the toon as a running gag. If it doesn't belong on this article, then it's a moot point to STUFF it for the toon. — It's dot com 22:49, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
It's stayed here for going on three years, but I still think idc was right, this one doesn't fit the pattern, regardless of other considerations. -132.183.140.175 18:01, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Freemasons

The Freemasons liked using the letter G ubiquitously as well. -- jrgilby

g2g

Umm, what does the way SB pronounces "g2g" the way it's spelled have anything to do with this running gag? How is this remarkable in any way, shape, or form? Jedibob5 23:45, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

Suggestion: Separate "g pronounced as j"

What the headline said.99.226.17.118

Answer:no. — Defender1031*Talk 18:11, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Why not? It seems a separate running gag to me.99.226.17.118

Troggie menu?

Would it count that clicking the G in the TROGDOR! menu for hints is a G reference? CompyError 03:57, 20 December 2008 (UTC)CompyError

Growlbacks?

Is it possible that the G hat says "G" for "Growlbacks?" MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 15:59, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Sure it's possible, but A) that is speculation and B) so what if it is? — Defender1031*Talk 19:02, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, if it is short for Growlbacks, then it won't be unusually used now will it?? MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 21:41, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I kinda agree. The page is about places where "you wouldn't expect to see G" according to the title. All references to Growlbacks, even if so named because of the G, are places where G is used as expected. -132.183.138.34 21:47, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
With that logic, "uggs" doesn't belong either. BBG 21:49, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I didn't even see that one. I don't think it belongs here regardless of any other considerations. -132.183.138.34 22:28, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, here's the complete list of what might have to go:

  • Gooblies
  • Uggs
  • G hat
  • G mascot
  • G-backs
  • Sargent Marshie Oh wait, it has two G's.

Should all of these go? BBG 22:13, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Makes sense to me. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 22:14, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
They're all still appearances of Gs. I say keep them. all of them. — Defender1031*Talk 23:46, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
I'd keep gooblies, but get rid of the rest (Including Marshie) -128.103.10.200 17:16, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
Why? Gooblies is a name, so it is just as much an unusual "G" occurance as George. However, one does not usually spell Sergeant Ser-g-geant, am I right? Strongkinghomsarsmith 00:18, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Yes, you're right. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 19:36, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
I disagree. The unusual G in gooblies is not in his name, but on his tag. Normally a tag for a plush toy would list the manufacturer information, so it might say Ty or Russ Berrie, but Gooblies's has only a lone large and context-less G. On the other hand, I always interpreted the spelling Serggeant Marshie as sort of a stutter, and not a reference to appearances of G's. Note that, consistant with this, the first time he is named it's verbally, and not spelled, and pronounced accordingly. -128.103.10.200 20:02, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
I quote from the article "The Brothers Chaps tend to toss the letter G around in places one would not normally expect to see it." If G stands for Growlbacks, then you would expect to see someone wearing a hat that has that letter on it. Like an RJHS t-shirt for Ruston Junior High School or wearing an R for Ruston. You would expect to see it. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 01:07, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
On the other hand, the hat appeared before the name growlbacks was established, right? Growlbacks was likely chosen because of the G, and prior to that, the G hat was contextless -128.103.10.200 01:43, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Wrong. The name "Growlbacks" first appeared in Teen Girl Squad Issue 4 and the G Hat appeared 10 issues later. BBG 02:02, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Oh, well, then. Nevermind. -128.103.10.200 02:25, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Well, it's been over two months since this conversation, so let's agree on something. I personally think that all of the things BBG listed need to go. Any other opinions? MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 21:39, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
I think the main question should be, should we remove instances or can we simply reword the intro? BBG 21:42, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Well, I reiterate that I think we should ditch Marshie and keep Gooblies, but I think the incongruent references should be removed, rather than changing the scope of the gag. -132.183.138.141 22:21, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Having 2 consecutive G's in your name is way more unusual than having the 1st letter of your name on a tag. BBG 18:28, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps, then, we should compromise and keep them both. -132.183.140.175 18:33, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Not Grood. I mean not great and good.

Currently, there's a section "Gr as G" on the page which mainly lists occurrences of "grood". That's neither a mispronunciation nor a variant of the "G" running joke. It shouldn't be part of the article. Loafing 19:39, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, technically it replaces "G", so it is some form of the G gag. --Jellote 21:48, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I think both G as J and G as Gr have enough instances for each stand on its own. They certainly do not seem to fit in the category of random appearances of the letter "G". This isn't the first time it's been brought up, but it hasn't had much discussion. OptimisticFool 19:48, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree they should be separated into G as J ans G as Gr. Anyone have any opposition? Poopsmith? The Little Chef guy? free 14:26, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
