Revision as of 14:11, 18 April 2005

  • Darn! I just spent an hour transcribing the toon to find someone'd already done it! Is there some procedure for calling dibs on it? Also, I know that I contributed both the cast of characters and the easter egg, yet I do not see my edit listed in the history. What gives? -- FireLily
    • I can't comment on the second part, but it's normal to post in the transcription section saying that it's in progress. -- Mithent 04:58, 20 Dec 2004 (MST)
    • Your edit is on the page Homestar presents: Presents. I made a template on this page (Homestar Presents: Presents - note correct capitalization) and posted that the transcript was in progress at around 1:40 EST. After I'd finished the entire page (picture, cast list, transcript, fun facts, and easter eggs), I noticed the other page with the incorrect capitalization. Since all it had was a cast list, the lone easter egg, and a couple of Fun Facts that I didn't have, I took the Fun Facts that weren't already on my page and moved them there, then deleted the rest of that page and changed it to a redirect to this page. -- Forteblast 10:05, 20 Dec 2004 (MST)
      • That's all well and good, but you did use my text in the easter egg (at least in the italic scene description), unless somehow we had the exact same wording (which I doubt). As petty as it may seem, I'd like credit for it in some way. It's a little annoying to put work into something and have someone else delete it. -- FireLily
  • Could Coach Z talking on an unplugged phone be a refrence to the film The Waterboy? There's a scene in which Coach Klein (Henry Winkler) talks to "grandma" on a phone and as the camera pans down, it is revealed that the phone reciever is unplugged.. and he's wearing high heels.
    • Maybe. Why don't you post it on the STUFF page? Forteblast 10:05, 20 Dec 2004 (MST)
    • It could also be a reference to replacement and that one toon where in swf you can see something unplugged in Marzipan's house.

Snowfall sound

We've heard the snowfall sound before. Where? It's not from sweet cuppin' cakes that I can figure, and I went through all 22 main pages looking for a reference that would trigger my memory. Anybody remember? spblat 17:48, 20 Dec 2004 (MST)

Ah yes. It's Homsar walking. spblat

Oh. Uh, um. No it's not. Sorry guys. spblat

Fun facts

Is it just me or do the fun facts on this page need to be cut by about 75%? Most of them really don't seem to be "fun" enough... --Nerdular Nerdence 00:53, 22 Dec 2004 (MST)

It almost ALWAYS seems like that, but frankly some of them are still notable, if not "fun". Unless it's obviously wrong, already mentioned or just way way too vague, why do we get so paranoid about them? --Shadow Hog 09:37, 22 Dec 2004 (MST)

Homsar's paintbrush rings like a bell. Duh.
Strong Bad's Grabbo Arm makes the same noises as Homestar's tricked-out propeller cap in car./The dripping during Strong Sad's scene is the same sound used in Main Page 14. All the sounds on the site are recycled. So what?
Apparently Free Country, USA has a wharf, although Strong Bad didn't know this either, despite him appearing in a boat in both lures & jigs and montage. This needs rewriting... maybe Strong Bad didn't know Free Country USA had a wharf, even though he has appeared in a boat in lures & jigs and montage. The first part of this fun fact is just repeating the end joke.
Homsar quote of "You're a real state trooper" may be a commonly mistaken lyric from "Straight Shooter" by The Mamas and the Papas. The real lyric says "You're a real straight shooter"/It could also be a parody on the phrase, "You're a real trooper", a phrase which usually means, "You're pretty tough!" Or, more likely, it is Homsar being stupid and random again.
When we see Homestar's clock in the beginning of the toon at 9:59, and then it turns to 10:00, that looks a little like the way they show Phil Connors's clock repeatedly turning from 5:59 to 6:00 in the movie Groundhog Day. Seriously. A lot of clocks look like that. Probably not a reference.
It is a little odd that Homestar runs out of the house naked, considering that he had a shirt on when he woke up. Yeah, that's the joke, "Naked somehow"...
Both Homestar and Strong Bad imply Homestar has slept through Decemberween before, but Bubs and Marzipan do not recognize that it has. Huh? Homestar impies that? Where? If this is worth keeping, it needs serious rewording...
--Nerdular Nerdence 11:00, 22 Dec 2004 (MST) is fed up with the STUFF page, where nothing seems to get done

Feel free to STUFF these, that's what it's for. --Chrysaor

Yeah... see my signature on the previous post for more info.  :P --Nerdular Nerdence 16:23, 23 Dec 2004 (MST) makes no more comments for now

Putting them in STUFF would be every bit as productive as putting them here. --Upsilon

Homestar or Marzipan's house?

Hmm, how do we know this isn't Marzipan's house? It looks like her house from 3 times halloween funjob. And I thought Homestar's house was red with spots.

some little comments

  • The sound quality is higher than normal, resulting in crisper sound compared to other toons on the site.
I had removed this, but now agree after listening to it on my system with 5.1 speakers - sorry.
  • Homestar's alarm clock here is different from the alarm clock in radio. It was apparently made just for him, as it says "Homestar's Clock" right on it.
I had rewritten/consolidated these, but now wondering if the first part (or all) is worth noting, as I noticed the clock radio in radio appears to be in a different room (at least on a different piece of furniture in the same room) - so who cares if he has different clock in another room?

Panic Room

I removed a "fact" about the credits resembling those from the movie Panic Room. This seems a stretch even by my standards. Post a comparison shot and we can reconsider. - Dr Haggis - Talk 21:32, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)

I have to admit I thought of Panic Room when I first saw the title sequence of this toon as well. I'm surprised I managed to find not only some screenshots of the movie, but an entire article about the opening sequence. That quicktime movie they link to doesn't seem to be working, but you can watch the opening credits at picturemill.com.
