[edit] New article

I think that we should move the generic responces to its own article just like how all the places have their own. -Philip8o

This article is specifically for the generic responses.  Green Helmet 22:31, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
I know. It isn't a big deal, but I think it would be neater if we moved the generic to a new page and left this page solely a directory with links to all the different types of responces. just add "Homestar Ruiner Responses (Generic)" to the bottom of the list. -Philip8o

[edit] Names of Locations

Technically, the names of the areas are "The Track" and "Marzipan's", not Track and Marzipan's House... CloneWarrior 22:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, whatever. Though I coulda sworn there was a "House" on "Marzipan's", I myself admitted I was unsure about "(The) Track". --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:56, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Also, the castle is called K.O.T. Castle. So, how do you edit the table at the bottom of the page? CloneWarrior 22:58, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Edit Template:SBCG4AP, though I've taken care of it for those three corrections already. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:03, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Formatting standards: breaking up multiple responses to the same interaction

Any ideas for a format to indicate the different (sometimes random, sometimes sequential) responses you can get from repeatedly interacting with the same object? So far, I've been putting horizontal rules, but they seem to break up the section more than it should be I think. If we could style up a special <hr/> tag... hmm...

GREEN HELMET: Maybe we could put a line like that in a template? — 01:23, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

GREEN HELMET: Or maybe short and to the left like this? — 01:35, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Would it make sense to create a template such as {{multiple-responses: {{{1}}} | {{{2}}} | {{{3}}} | and so on }} ?  Green Helmet 01:59, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Idle Chatter

When you stand still long enough near a character, they'll usually say something or multiple things. Make sure to get that in these articles. CloneWarrior 03:52, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Yes, yes. And Strong Bad's various interruptions of said something or multiple things. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 06:15, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Trophies

[edit] Some Trophy

STRONG BAD: {{music plays and a trophy is displayed} Whoah! What the crap was that?

This happened when I randomly completed the whatever the trophy of Strong Bad is for. I don't remember if the repsonses are trophy specific, or if they happen in the same order no matter which trophy you get first.  Green Helmet 05:05, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Awexome work so far

GreenHelmet in particular (wow, he's only been around about two months?) I know of some more dialogue (hint: talk to various characters pre-extended mode as Homestar. I know Bubs, Marzipan (at her house and at the party), and Coach Z have some Homebad-specific dialogue) but I don't know exactly what is said (for the record, transcribing these things is HARD when you have the Wii version and your TV and computer are on opposite sides of the apartment, so I realize I've had limited direct input on these.) --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 06:50, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Jay! For what it's worth, I just finished my second play of the game, so I'm done with the mass edits on this. Good work from everyone so far! Here's what we know is still incomplete:
  • Interacting with everyone in Homestar costume, whereever possible.
  • Hints (completely empty!)
  • Probably several other incidental interactions, particularly the ones surrounding those irreversible interactions in the game (i.e. those that trigger a progression to a new phase of the game).

[edit] Hints please

Can someone please add the Hints?

[edit] Legal?

I have a bad feeling about these response pages. We're basically copying every little saying and movement from a game that The Chapman Brothers profit off of for people buying it. Does anyone agree that copying every response is really fair use? MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 22:03, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

We've had this discussion before, about transcribing DVD content and commentary. Having the responses is not the same as actually hearing and seeing the scenes yourself. I highly doubt these pages (especially given how disorganised they are — they don't outline the whole plot easily without already knowing what lines to read where, via a walkthrough or summat) are going to make anyone say "Oh, look, I can read every line. Now I don't need to buy an awesome, cheap game that virtually anyone can afford and get ahold of. I'm only a Homestar Runner fan — which is why I'm here on this wiki at all — I don't need to buy the defining game of my fandom when I have... text."
Either way, we have a good relationship with the Chaps. If they didn't like something we were doing, posting something they didn't want us to post, all they'd have to do is ask us and we'd comply. It's that simple. --DorianGray 22:19, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Dorian, you get funnier and funnier after every response. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 22:28, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Stubby

I've noticed that many of these response pages for the SBCG4AP games are still incomplete after a year of being here. Normally I'd go an try to finish the thing up myself, but I didn't buy the game and only have the demo, which ends as soon as Strong Bad gets the Homestar costume and goes to Coach Z for the first race. So I can't get any KOT-related responses, nothing about the Total Load, nothing about getting Marzipan's chocolate and nothing about the party in Strong Bad's house.

But I do have the link to the Did You Try? page on the official site. If anyone's willing to go beyond the Exploration Coach Z trophy they could play again a few times and at least put down all the responses that the lists currently lack.

Should this go on The Stick as a project? 76.234.167.128 01:38, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Reopening this conversation. SBCG4AP is now about ten years old, and most of the response pages still have stub tags. I've been playing most of the games and mining them for possible responses that I've posted on the respective response pages. I'd like to know exactly what it would take to promote these articles from "stub" to "full page" status. I don't want to have to play these games more than three times in a row within a few months. You know what Strong Bad says about too much of an awesome thing. 99.48.86.26 16:21, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
