Page problems

Yeah, this page conflicts with Rejects. And it just generally isn't done well. Some of these things were just made up and aren't linked to from any toons. I justed deleted a page that was created for "Canteloupe" (spelled incorrectly), even though we already have a page for Doreauxgard. Any ideas? -- Tom 16:54, 12 Nov 2004 (MST)

See my comments on Rejects. I think something either IS or IS NOT. Meaning we get rid of rejects entirely, and categorize things by what they are, independent of how many times they appear. - [[User:Drhaggis|Dr Haggis]] 14:08, 25 Nov 2004 (MST)

Computers

Does anyone else see a problem with adding Slightly Shotgunned Compy and Old Tandy? They're not seperate computers, just later ones. Why not just list Slightly Shotgunned Compy as what it is, a toon. Then just put a pic of it and a bit of history on the Compy 386 page, where it belongs. You may as well list Puppet Stuff computers as seperate computers as well under that criteria. Okay I'm done. Anyone second the motion? Thunderbird 11:37, 30 Nov 2004 (MST)

Items Standards

Anyone feel that this page needs some kinda standard? Perhaps like further items will only be allowed when used multiple times, such as the BMW Lighter, ect, or unless it's part of a definite set, such as the radios? Thunderbird 12:30, 9 May 2005 (UTC)

I like the "multiple times" standard, as well as perhaps a standard that it must interact with the characters in some notable way at least once (so no stuff like Strong Bad's stool or the smoke detector). Aurora the Homestar Coder 20:09, 12 May 2005 (UTC)
I've noticed some stuff has been deleted which I don't think should have been deleted necessarily (like Staple Sauce and Coach Z Ale). At the very least, it's inconsistent. Here's the list of items which do not fit the three times rule: Block, Box Computer, Strong Sad's Tape Player, Strong Sad's iPod, Ray-Jo, Old-Timey Radio, ATM, Home Movie Camera, Homestar's Clock, Grabbo Arm, Marzipan's Ukelele, Bubs' keytar, Gross Old Wig, Captain's Hat, Homestar's Slippers, Homestar's Daisy Dukes, Tragic Clown Dog Costume, The Blue Ones, Fluffy Puff Air Puffed Sugar Delights, Fluffy Puff Malloweens, Fluffy Puff Bite-Size Nibblers, Schenectady Crispies, Cheat Commandos O's Cereal, Piemonade, Homestar Jr., Decemberween Food, Bubs' Old Pizza, Ice Cream, Strong Bad's EGGS, Teddy Grahams, Suge Brown, Super Mud, Limozeen: but they're in space, Whaddya Know Haddi-Man, Strong Bad-Type Interview Progrum, Caleb Rentpayer, all of the magazines, Edgarware, The Virus, Edga Jr., Strong Bad's Drill, Grout Clean'r, Space Machine, Wood-davers, Yella Paint.
I'm in no way suggesting that we delete all of these things, but we're in desparate need of a standard. It's seriously arbitrary to delete Staple Sauce and not, say, Suge Brown and Super Mud. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 01:34, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Since the images weren't gone, I just put 'em in the list. What can it hurt? If the Space Machine can be there, so can those. — It's dot com 01:51, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Exactly! What can it hurt? Therefore I propose that Staple Sauce and Coach Z Ale be brought back. Also, Space Machine was on my list. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 04:42, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)

We've got a similar problem with the clothing. Sam Goldfish added Homsar's derby and Homestar's shirt. I was about to revert, noting that all the other clothing items were exceptions from characters' normal costumes, until I checked at the top of the page and found out it was for "items often ... used by characters." But by that logic we'd have to include Marzi's dress, etc. I propose that actually it's the exceptions to the norm that are more worthy of note and of this page. Maybe remove the derby and the hat and change the page's mission. —AbdiViklas 23:47, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Clean-up

For clean-up on this page, I was thinking to do the same thing we did for the Characters page. Like the galleries and stuff. Is that okay?--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 00:05, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I like that idea. It's like if you were shopping: would you want to buy any of this stuff without seeing it first? Th' gallery is also good if you know how the item looks but can't remember specifically what it's called. --DorianGray
I already did it to the computers part. How does it look?--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 00:16, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I like it. I think it'll come out fine. Good luck witchyaself. --DorianGray

When I'm back from school, I'll start standardizing the images just like in the characters page. I like doing that :) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 03:58, 13 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Is there anything else that needs to be done here?--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 01:46, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Do we know that the grabbo arm is electronic? How and why?

It has lights on it that light up when you squeeze the trigger. It has at least some electronics in it, I think. --DorianGray

Radios? Music Players?

Now that Radios has the iPod and the SeeDees, it needs to be changed to another title. I changed it to music players temporarily, although the Old-Timey Radio doesn't play much music. smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 15:38, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

I suggested Music Players, but if you can come up with a better name, I'm open for suggestions. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:46, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
I like music players also. It's more general.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 15:54, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
Possible other choises: Machines with Speakers, Electronics with Speakers, Speakered Electronics, Speakered Devices. --smileyface.PNG11945 (Talk/Ctrbs) 16:08, 18 November 2005 (UTC)
I think music players is fine. --Stux 16:19, 18 November 2005 (UTC)

Who put The King of Town and Strong Bad in alphabetical order?

I started alphabetizing the galleries, but came apon a problam. Should Strong Bad's Fondue Pot and The King of Town's Grill be under S and T, or under F and G? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:50, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

I noticed that some sections are in alphabetical order (of these some are understandably so, others maybe not so much?). That said, I think I've seen it before where they list it under F and G (natural, no flats or sharps). Otherwise we'd have all of these listings under "Strong Bad's this" and "SB's that" clumped up.
I think that this page could use some ordering standards listed right by the section as an HTML comment. For example, the SB computers are listed chronologically, but with minor computers first. The "other" computers seems to have no order at all. I think the rest of the items are probably like this. Not only that the Characters page should probably be looked over in the same manner. --Stux 17:10, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

Computer Programs

Should The Virus really be considered a computer program? It is certainly worthy of mention, but is that a good catagory for it? Elvis 00:49, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Hm... it's not excactly a program... I dunno. — talk Bubsty edits 01:33, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
I recently started Programs lists in the individual Computer pages, and it seems to be supported by others. As programs are not "items", considering OAOO should they simply be put there and not here? Qermaq 02:57, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

lighters

we need to add strong bad's bmw lighter and homestar's saab lighter csours 20:06, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

They're there. Look under the Misc. section. And sign your posts. ~~~~ is all it takes. Here I go. — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 18:21, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
sry bout the signy thing, posted this at very early am and my brain werent working veery well csours 20:06, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

this one isnt there:

Image:saab_lighter.png

I didnt put it up because im not sure about format on the page... csours 20:10, 7 February 2006 (UTC) (figured it out now!)

The only issue is that placing the saab ligher in that list will point to the BMW lighter page again.--Stux 14:28, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
yea... i just kinda thought the list should be inclusive... csours 16:08, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup?

The following are exerpts from this conversation, and the replies for this topic should go here:

(...) As a side point, I strongly feel that Items needs cleanup and revision, but I'm not really up to trying to fix it at this time. But I'ma adding it to my to-do list right now. Thunderbird 00:45, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Excuse me if I sound stupid, but what exactly needs cleaning up in Items? It seems fine to me. Has Matt? (talk) 00:48, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
(...) On a different note, Thunderbird, if the Items page is to be cleaned up, the Characters page would need a similar makeover (subpages perhaps?). However, I'm not clear as to what you think should be fixed in items. --Stux 00:53, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
In Items, the main problems I see is such things as Movies and TV Shows being there. Not only are they clearly not "Items", but Tv Shows already has a perfectly fine, and more complete page. Same with this, once again clearly not an item. Another problem is here. Half of the "Misc." section are already in this section. The Proud Anselmo??? What's he doing in the Items section? Those are the kind of problems with the page. Make no mistake, it's a pretty good page, but there are obivous problems with the whole setup. (...) Thunderbird 01:02, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

To comment about TBird's suggestion: it all makes perfect sense, except for two things: it seems as if everything will end up being stripped away to the bone (ok, not really), and the word "item" is itself very general: a store sells several "items" among them software and movies. Just my 2 cents. --Stux 01:15, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

I think they should be kept. Bluebry 01:17, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Should it be moved to Things or something? That seems like the only plausible solution to me, as every thing is, well, a thing. Has Matt? (talk) 01:19, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
Things is far too vauge. I think the best thing would be similar to how we solved similar Characters problems, by doing this. I think similar treatment for a couple of the mentioned sections might be prudent, as well as maybe adding some pages too (Not quite sure which ones at this time though) Thunderbird 02:06, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

Weapons Upgrade

Should the Dangeresque Nunchuck Gun be included under weapons? I mean it's theoretically still a weapon, even if just in that made up (by Strong Bad) story. Elvis 16:01, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Movies and TV Shows

Umm... Are Movies and TV Shows items used by the characters? I mean, are they even items? I think they need to be removed from the list. Thoughts/opinions? Bluebry 01:53, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I would tend to agree, and would also add Computer Programs to that list. Unlike books and magazines, I don't think these are really items. Heimstern Läufer 01:57, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I agree. Loafing 02:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah... I agree with programs. Bluebry 02:02, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Not Items. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
So before you go on and remove then, where should they be listed? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:43, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
May I propose (and thusly move to) Electronic Media? - 18:02, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Rename proposal

I propose that we rename this page iTems. Just kidding. ;) —BazookaJoe 05:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

Maybe a redirect? =3 What colour redirect are YOU gonna get? --DorianGray

Computer missing

the floating computer from accent isn't there. for the name just put down strong bad's floating computer. I think it's call floaty 6700. everyone loves the foogs he loves his boring sigs! 13:46, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
