Stop That!

Prove it (again)

Are we sure this 20x6 marzipan.

It's a woman in a purple dress with a long blonde ponytail and the exact same decorations as Marzipan on the bottom of her skirt. What kind of proof are you looking for? Because I don't think TBC has said. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 08:04, 13 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Plus, when do they ever pull in another character without an introduction?

And what other girls are there? Fizz123 Talk

Isn't it possible that 20X6 has an original character or two? I mean, "who" is/are Trogdor or Marshe supposed ot be? --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  21:16, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

  • Trogdor's 20X6 counterpart is called Trogador. - Sikon 05:10, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

ooh! there IS another girl in Homestar Runner! One of those zombie kids from the marshmellow commercials is a girl I think! --NERD42  email  talk   h²g²  pedia  uncyc  21:18, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

You do all have vallied points, it is most likley Marzy, but I shall make some tiny edits, see what you think - it will probly be reverted though, but it's worth a shot. MJN SEIFER 14:06, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

In the article, you pointed out that 20X6 Marzipan hasn't been properly introduced, and you listed the ways she and Marzipan are similar. Both of these things are good. I removed all the hedging, however (statements like "most likely", etc.). As Homestar Coder said above, the purple dress with the gold spots and the long blonde ponytail are rather convincing. If this character should somehow turn out not to be Marzipan's counterpart, I think the burden would be on TBC to say so. In the meantime, given the evidence, we are perfectly justified in making the inference that she is who we think she is. — It's dot com 16:09, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Peace or Victory?

Apparently, it's neither! I found this explanation here.

You'll often see anime characters flashing the "peace" or "V for victory" sign with their first two fingers -but that's really not what they're doing. That gesture is one of accomplishment, more "I made it!" or "I did it!" than "victory." Often this gesture is used when posing for photographs.

--tomstiff 22:22, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Yup, I looked it up and you're right. However, as noted in this article, Marzipan is imitating Chun Li after she defeats an enemy -- usually referred to as the "victory pose." So I think that "victory sign" is probably more accurate than "peace sign" in this case. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 22:33, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I agrees with ya. I only posted this to enlighten those of us who are, like me, anime-challenged. -- tomstiff 13:12, 22 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Aren't "I did it" and "victory" pretty much the same thing? SaltyTalk! 20:24, 19 December 2005 (UTC)

Ticked Off

My friend said that there was no 20x6 Marizipan, and he's almost never wrong, so he can't bear to have his fact disproved. That IS the 20x6 Marzipan, but he won't listen to me. I'm so ticked off! Can anybody help me?-A very ticked off Runstar Homer

While everyone here agrees that this character is 20X6 Marzipan, if he's convinced she's not, then the only way to prove him wrong would be to wait for a Stinkoman 'toon that includes her and, preferrably, names her or states her relationship to 1-Up. --Jay (Talk) 19:36, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)
You might try emailing the Brothers Chaps. I can't promise a return reply, but if they do, that's probably the best proof in the world. --DorianGray
Have you showed him the wiki page? He might believe you if there's consensus amongst the Homestar fanbase over whether such a character is Marzipan. —Gafaddict Image:Gafaddict sigpic.gif (Talk | Contribs.) 19:38, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Out of curiosity, are you allowed to say "****ed" on the Wiki? --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 20:39, 27 September 2005 (BST)
What, P.O.'d? Meh, probably not. Runstar, please don't say that. (Although we completely understand your frustration.) Thanks. — It's dot com 19:59, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Sorry if I'm not allowed to say "****ed" on this wiki. I didn't know, but I guess that I should have known already. I did show him the wiki, but I'll try your ideas too. Thanks!-A slightly less ticked off Runstar Homer

Hi. I'm back! I realized that I don't know TBC E-mail adress. Could you put on my talk or something?-Runstar Homer

brotherschaps@homestarrunner.com

why an individual page?

look, i don't know why we are putting this on it's own page. we already have a 20x6 page, so this is really useless. i'm gonna put this up for deletion. even if we don't, i think that it is still a useless character.Seriously

This page is not useless, and it is not getting deleted. - Joshua 16:03, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Isn't this weird...

Is she the only variation of a major character that looks completely human? - Sikon 15:45, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Welllllll... She looks rather like the early sketchbook forms of Marzipan that were said to be WAY to human-like, so I guess she IS the most human-like person in any time period of free country USA. Any thoughts?-Runstar Homer

Sailor Moon

I don't mean to destrupt the flow of the site but, I have already removed this, but it has been put back in!

She DOESN'T LOOK LIKE SAILOR MOON AT ALL!!! An this is from a dedicated fan of the anime. She looks like a generic anime girl (Presumably she may have been based on SOMONE but NOT Sailor Moon!!) I honestly don't know what you mean!!

The only similarity I see is blond hair, that's all (Oh and she's a girl) Her hair is a COMPLETLY different fasion she doesn't even have the "Meat Head" look.

Don't be too hard on me because I love this site and am a regular viewer to it, but She is NOT a copy of Sailor Moon their appearnce is completly diffent!!!!! — 82.3.32.73 (Talk | contribs) 15:25 August 15, 2006 (left unsigned)

Speaking as one who knows a bit about Sailor Moon himself, it is my opinion that she IS a ref to Sailor Moon. She could be a reference to a generic magical girl, but Sailor Moon is the most likely. What with the pleated skirt, the leotard-like uniform, the impossibly long blonde hair, and all. --DorianGray

Well I've been a fan for most of my life and I don't see her in appearance. And Sailor Moon doesn't Have "INposibly long hair" it's very moderate, I've seen girls get there hair like that.

In pigtail form, it's down to about her knees. That's pretty long in my book. --DorianGray

Yeah but it's not IMPOSSIBLY long! MJN SEIFER 15:14, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, if you want to see long hair, check out chobits (sorry, but I don't know any links.)-Runstar Homer 22:31, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

For your comparison pleasures:
20X6 Marzipan
the pretty soldier of love and justice. I am fond of Sailor Moon and I think they don't look too similar. Bad Bad Guy 03:27, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

I am a fan of Salior Moon ever since I was a kid, The only resemblence I see is the Blonde hair and the fact they are *sort of* anime. I think it's just a refference to exitable anime girls in general, Sailor Moon just being one of the many out there, in other words this is TTATOT. MJN SEIFER 15:14, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I would have still disagree. As Dorian mentioned above, the eyes, hair (remember it's trying to still be recognizable as Marzipan), and general shape of the clothes and legs all suggest Sailor Moon. Moreover, let's not forget that to someone that is only casually aquatinted with anime will know about Sailor Moon, as opposed to the many series that imitated it that followed. I would use as a point of comparison how Stinkoman draws upon many Dragon Ball Z references, another nearly ubiquitous series, or how the Cheatball draws upon Pokemon. Chobits, even though it's fairly well known in the anime fandom, isn't known much outside of it, so it's unlikely to be reference, for example. wbwolf (t | ed) 16:22, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't think CheatBall draws up on Pokemon in the slightest, it's a living breathing soccer ball. Or does that remind you of PokeBalls or something? Also Chobits is known outside anime where I'm from. In fact more so than Sailor Moon actually even though I prefer the latter. By the way it was me who started this back when I was a n00b lurker. I forgot how I used to type back then. MJN SEIFER 16:28, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Not enough to say its a reference. I'm not an anime fan, but it seems to me that there are only three variables when it comes to anime girls: hair style, hair color and hair length. Marzipan's got two out of three in common with this Sailor Moon character, but I imagine you could make a similar case for other anime girls. Say, a brunette with super-long hair in a ponytail. Or a blonde with a standard-length ponytail. Anyway, I changed the caption of the photo until this can get decided. OptimisticFool 17:25, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
I think it's definitely a reference — when TBC make allusions like this, they don't tend to imitate every single characteristic of the character they're referencing. They include enough similar features to make the joke recognizable, but to do any more would spoil the joke. Besides, as mentioned above, they still had to make her look like Marzipan. The hair and skirt of 20X6 Marzipan and the fact that Sailor Moon is by far the most famous anime girl (and one of the only anime girls non-anime fans like me (and quite possibly TBC) have ever heard of) make this a pretty clear reference, in my book. Trey56 17:53, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Nevertheless, I think the caption change you made was an improvement — maybe we could mention the Sailor Moon connection in the body of the article, though, just at is in Main Page 17. Trey56 17:56, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree with Trey56 on both counts for the same reasons he gives. Heimstern Läufer 18:09, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Trey, this may suprise you, but a survey was done back here towards non anime fans and out of all animes none of them had heard of Sailor Moon. MJN SEIFER 22:32, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm... no, I'm not aware of that survey. Could you provide a link? Just judging from the people I know, I'd have to disagree with the results, but I'd be interested to see it. Trey56 22:56, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

It was done at my old school mate, MJN SEIFER 14:02, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, but that's not exactly a reliable source. Meanwhile, I suggest that as a compromise, we include the reference as a "might be" reference. I know some people don't like these, but in a compromise situation, they're often the best we can do. Heimstern Läufer 19:20, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

That seams fair. I just remembered that I live in a different country to TBC so, things may be different there. MJN SEIFER 19:44, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

Yatta animation

Is there anything about the flash cartoon "Yatta" related to the phrase? --70.16.165.15 20:12, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Only that they both likely derive from the original Japanese phrase. --DorianGray 20:15, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

New Name Suggestion?

I thought that 20X6 Marzipan could do with a new name so we can email it to the Brothers Chaps. Here are a couple of suggestions:

  • Marzichan
  • Sailor Marle

Which of the two would you prefer? - ThomasAndHomestarFan20 22:59, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

What I'd prefer is to wait until 20X6 Marzipan gets a real appearance in a cartoon or game or something. There are a few scattered cases where the Wiki uses a description of an unnamed character and it later becomes canon, but that doesn't mean we should try to go out of our way to MAKE it happen. --Jay (Talk) 23:03, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
I do think it's notable, however, that she is refered to as "Marzichan" in some fanfiction. HaldoHelscome!
