Marzipan: "Hi, Marzipan, this is not Marzipan, just calling to leave you a mean prank call so that you don't get your feelings hurt when other people prank call you."

Can anyone explain this to me? Kvb 19:10, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

MARZIPAN: Hi there Marzipan's Answering Machine. This is really Marzipan, but I'm pretending not to be Marzipan. I'm just calling to leave a mean prank call so that when (the real) Marzipan (who I'm pretending not to be) gets home, she doesn't get her feelings hurt when other people prank call her."
Any help? -- Tom 19:15, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
No, not really. I'm wondering how Marzipan would not get her feelings hurt by prank calling herself. Kvb 19:20, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
This call is to toughen her up so the other calls don't bother her. Her feelings get hurt when other people prank call her. -- Tom 19:23, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Oooookay. I Think I get it. Thanks. "Oh, now I understand." Kvb 19:26, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Strong Bad's Voices

When I transcribed msg. 2, I just put a note on it saying that Strong Bad imitates a different voice for every phrase. Then someone else added a couple of "falsetto" notations. Do we want to note the different voices SB does? I'm thinking it would be time-consuming and not terribly useful. Also, he doesn't actually seem to be imitating other characters (the falsetto ones sound like Teen Girl Squad though). Aurora the Homestar Coder 00:24, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Goat-theme?

The "goat" theme of the messages could have something to do with the old Yearbook Character Page, which claimed that Marzipan was a goat herder.

[edit] Bee in Homestar's Bonnet

When Homestar says "...boy do I have a bee in my bonnet!" does that remind anybody else of TMBG's Birdhouse in Your Soul]? And if so, do you think we ought to list it as a reference? — User:ACupOfCoffee@ 08:35, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

That's what that line reminded me of too. But it's a common phrase. -Alice

I don't hear people saying "Bee in my bonnet" a lot... I'd vote it a refrence... Not because I'm a big TMBG fan... But ok, I thought of it too. ^^ --MrsCommanderson 19:19, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
That's a common idiom. See this answers.com entry for details. -- Tom 19:55, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Goatface Easter egg broken

The Goatface Easter egg doesn't seem to be working (anymore), though the Goatface Killa one still does. I even tried it with holding Tab the entire time in case it only works for a second or so, but nothing. Retodon8 01:31, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

That's odd. It works perfectly fine for me. --DorianGray

[edit] Shining example?

The "The Shining" fun fact - according to IMDB, the line that is "referenced" is "We've got canned fruits and vegetables, canned fish and meats, hot and cold syrups, Post Toasties, Corn Flakes, Sugar Puffs, Rice Krispies, Oatmeal... and Cream of Wheat. You got a dozen jugs of black molasses, we got sixty boxes of dried milk, thirty twelve-pound bags of sugar... Now we got dried peaches, dried apricots, dried raisins and dried prunes."

Now, what is being referenced? If it's that it's a list, that's not notable. The fact that Bubs sounds a little like Crothers isn't notable here, anyway, and a list is a list. Half-remembering the movie, I was thinking maybe Hallorann (Crother's character) repeated an item in the list, but it seems not to be so. And the length of each list, and the style of items in each list, aren't the same at all. So - is there any validity to this fact at all? Who can present support for it? [edit] The Thnikkaman

Every time, instead of "I was just calling up to see if you wanted to join my Thnikkaband", i hear The Thnikkaman put a TH sound instead of S in the word "see". However, idk how to spell this without it being exactly synonymous with "you" (thee). Any ideas on how to write it? The Knights Who Say Ni 19:46, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
