Ding! Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Introduction

This is a section for all those characters that only appeared once or twice in the Teen Girl Squad, and aren't good enough for their own page. I just started, and now I have to go to bed, so it barely has any information yet.

This was suggested by Dr. Haggis, I believe, in the Dinosaur page. (which can be deleted now)Pretty much all the info on it right now is from that page anyway. If someone thinks this page here shouldn't exist, go ahead and voice your opinion.

It does need a lot more data, so go ahead and update it. Remember, I don't know how to do pictures at all. Good night, guys. --Joshua 20:35, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)

Good start Joshua. I'm keeping the old pages around for a short while to let people voice any disagreements. - Dr Haggis - Talk 21:00, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)

Thanks. And remember guys, put the minor characters in order of when they first appeared in the series.

Fat hawiian guy?

I think the fat hawaiian guy is based on the real actual person who redid the over the rainbow song, and he played the ukelele and recently died. Does anybody know what I'm talking about?Dacty

Yeah IZ. But, I think he's still alive. Stongbah Preeow! 16:55, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

NO, IZ is DEAD MAN! He died before he really got famous.

Real Characters Spot?

Oh, and should we include characters that were put into the TGS, like PomPom, Strong Bad and Visor Robot? --Joshua 05:08, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)

No, only characters that started in TGS should go here I think. - Dr Haggis - Talk 07:36, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)

Minor Characters?

Alright, should I move the Mrs. Commanderson and Mrs. So-and-So-erson articles into here, since they are technicly minor characters? Or should they stay separate? --Joshua 17:44, 8 Mar 2005 (MST)

I need an answer or I'll just do it. --Joshua 09:29, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

No, both characters are named and have somewhat major roles. --Trogga 10:58, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

I think since they only appear for a brief time, they should be considered minor characters. -acekirby13

To me, a Minor Teen Girl Squad Character is like a reject:

  • It does not have any lines or important role in any toon
  • It appears in only one toon
  • It is only mentioned or appears in passing
  • No character interacts with it

Mrs. Commanderson and Mrs. So-and-So-erson may appear in only one toon, but they have lines and a character interacts them. --Trogga 10:12, 18 Mar 2005 (MST)

Some "Minor Characters" break those rules.
  • "Brett Bretterson" has an important role in the toon he appears. (distracting So and So)
  • Some, like the "Intercom" appear more than once in their toon and have lines and somewhat major roles in the toon they appear in.
  • And some, like the "Trolls" and "A Shark" have interactions with other characters.

True, no minor characters have appeared in more than one cartoon, but neither have to two Mrs.'s. I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but I'll say it here, too. I'm neutral on the subject. The way I see it, both of them are in a gray area, not as minor as most of these minor characters, but not a common character either.--Joshua 10:40, 18 Mar 2005 (MST)

If you want to get technical, all those minor characters that supposedly only appear in one episode also appear in episode 10 at the ugly one's sweet someteenth birthday bash. They can all be seen in the background as the camera scans the crowd. Even the crazy learner's permit girl is there.

Isn't the Shirt Folding Store Manager an updated version of Mrs. So-and-So-erson? That's always how I read the character.

To Include or Not To Include?

The Helicopter is arguably the first "Minor Character" of the whole TGS series. Even though the "Monster Cloud" appears moments before, it had yet to sport an evil face or eat any birds. Therefore, it is the helicopter who "draws the first kill". From the way I look at it, if we can personify a cloud, why not a helicopter, too? In addition, it fulfulls all four of the 'reject requirements' that I see above. I went and uploaded a screenshot and the helicopter will have its own section in the article. Any concurrences/discrepancies on the matter? --The Paper 01:33, 19 Mar 2005 (MST)

Law & Order

Was anyone else reminded of "Law & Order" by the beginning of this page? You could easily restructure the beginning to say: "In the Teen Girl Squad comic, some characters make a very brief appearance, often hurting one of the girls. Usually they are never seen again. These are their stories. *DONG DONG*" Tom 12:13, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

I laid down the basic outline and got all the data in the file. It's good, but not perfect. If you think something should be reworded, go ahead and change it. --Joshua 12:22, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)
Technically, this was a joke. But whatever. Tom H 12:28, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)

Include Info

It is recomended that we try to include as much info from the source pages they are copied here. Articles like this are a great way to include minor things without having to go through that old 'reject/inside joke' thing. - Dr Haggis - Talk 20:51, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

Picture Width

Should all the pictures really be the same length? I see why this would be originally wanted, but it really lowers the quality of some of the pictures, even as much as to make me want them back to how they used to be. --Joshua 18:03, 14 Mar 2005 (MST)

No, but we should try to make them all the same width. If this means re-capturing them so be it. - Dr Haggis - Talk 20:49, 14 Mar 2005 (MST)

Oops, I meant width. But recaptering some of them wouldn't be too bad of an idea. --Joshua 05:36, 16 Mar 2005 (MST)
I have 'recaptured' some of the pixelated images and replaced the JPEG ones with PNG ones. Could someone with sysop privileges go ahead and delete the following images? (it would free up server space!) --The Paper 23:55, 18 Mar 2005 (MST)
Update: Thanks, Doc! Now we've got a semi-decent looking page over there. --The Paper 01:33, 19 Mar 2005 (MST)

Talk moved from "Fatty's Big Chance"

Should this be renamed? I would think that the character's name is just "Fatty", and that it is his big chance...I don't think "Fatty's Big Chance" is the correct character name. Anyone think that I shouldn't move/rename it? --Duke33 07:41, 19 Jan 2005 (MST)

Fatty's Big Chance is how the one man band was introduced onto stage, so the article should be on "the band". The Character likely has a different name and doesnt need a separate article at this time.- Dr Haggis - Talk 15:40, 19 Jan 2005 (MST)

Fatty now has a place in Minor Teen Girl Squad Characters. This article can now be deleted. --Joshua 08:13, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

I don't know if this a good idea, people may look for Fatty's Big Chance in the Bands category. --Trogga 08:29, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

Good point. If this article is kept, someone needs to chance Fatty's name, because in this article, the name of the band AND the player is considered to be "Fatty's Big Chance." --Joshua 10:26, 9 Mar 2005 (MST)

Vultures?

Are the vultures that ate Mr. Pitters the same vultures that SWOOP'D The Ugly One?--DumDe 00:11, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

As we all know now, no. — talk Bubsty edits 18:57, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

Upper Pic

I personally like the way the main pic was before, with the text not all scrunched up and the TOC not so wide. T-bird seems to disagree. Any other opinions? - Joshua 04:22, 23 November 2005 (UTC)

Link to Mrs. C?

Why isn't there a link to the Mrs. Commanderson article in issue 7, as there is for Mrs. So-and-So-Erson?

sneak

why am i nto allowed to say that the possums look like the sneak?

  • It doesn't contribute to the article. That is also a matter of opinion. Sonichu

Cheerleader Lies!

On the page it says, "Coach apparently brings this about by telling Cheerleader over the phone that 'the olympics are soooo dumb!'" I thought it was obvious (when I watched the issue) that Cheerleader clearly made that up, not realizing the Coach would be in the trouble he was. - Thnikkaguy

No, I don't think so. The "olympics are soooo dumb" phrase comes from the cell phone while Cheerleader is talking. That, and if he never said it, olympic man would be mad at someone else, not the coach. Bluebry 23:43, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Move Sci-Fi and DND Greg?

Should we move Science Fiction Greg and DND Greg to their own articles? They've both had two appearances, so I think that counts as not being "minor" any longer. Thoughts? --Duke33 16:34, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Some characters on this page have had three appearences, but then again, they seem to have more major roles than the other characters such as the dinosaur; "PUNT!" and then you see him in the background of the full color issue and that's it. Stongbah Preeow! 16:40, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
They have about the same importance as Manolios Ugly One and he have his own article. They are named and had a major plot point in TGS11. Unless no one else objects, I'm splitting them from this article. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:52, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
I'm fine with that. Stongbah Preeow! 20:55, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Good idea. Loafing 21:55, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

Gag me with a spoon!

Anyone have a picture of Mindy's friends from the "!" Easter Egg at the end of issue 12? Bad Bad Guy 01:02, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

At least they have more lines than some other characters here. I think that gives them every reason to go on the article. Bad Bad Guy 02:08, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
The "!" Easter Egg is the one that appears if you click the exclamation point in "It's Over!" Bad Bad Guy 23:31, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

C-dogg and Naptime: Which is which?

Who do you think C-dogg and Naptime are? I think the former is the crazy-looking one, and the latter is the bulky one.

Peacy P's Symbol

A user said that he does not see Peacy P's symbel on his browser, yet that person suspected most people can't see that on their browser. I can see it on my browser. Can anybody else? 24.147.211.129 19:24, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

I sure can.--Kanjiro talk 19:25, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
I can't see it. I use Internet Explorer 6. CompGrl323 (talk · edits) 19:28, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Upgrade to firefox, it's awesome and free!--Kanjiro talk 19:30, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Expecting all users to change browsers won't help usability of the page, I'm afraid. The solution is not "change software". Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
Check the image of Peacy P. 24.147.211.129 19:32, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I can see it, but it's pixelated for some reason. And it's spelt "symbol". DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 19:32, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

My point is that if some browsers can't see it, then it shouldn't be included. From the Homestar Runner Wiki Standards page "Try to avoid special characters when possible, as some systems and browsers struggle with them." My version of it was just fine. Does anybody agree? I use Internet Explorer 7 (farily common) which doesn't see it. I have Firefox 2.0.0.5, Safari for Windows 3.02 and Opera 9.21, all of which do see it. How about this:

He has a symbolized representation of his name ("☮y P") on his shirt, and a very large afro.

Awesomermustang 21:45, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

It's my strong opinion that usability of the content is of paramount importance. If the character cannot be seen on some major browsers, it should not be used on the page. An illustration of the shirt would be plenty. We don't need to mention the symbols on the shirt in the prose, in my opinion. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:41, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Homestar Ruiner characters

Are the characters from the Homestar Ruiner TGS comic going to be added to this page? CloneWarrior 04:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Italics?

Is there a better way to note which characters were at the ugly one's party than putting the whole description in italics? -132.183.138.189 17:11, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I've actually been wondering that for a while... Any suggestions you'd like to give? — Defender1031*Talk 16:11, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
How about using an asterix? * – The Chort 16:27, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Can I ask another question? Why should this page keep track of that at all? This page is for listing and describing the characters, not listing what toon they appeared in. It seems like a violation of the "once and only once" rule to keep track on this page and have them in the cast list for Teen Girl Squad Issue 10 (where it certainly belongs). — Defender1031*Talk 16:31, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Some history of the format: It was added at the end of october and never formally questioned. Since then, people have been confused by the formatting and tried to remove it several times, and gotten reverted. — Defender1031*Talk 16:37, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Actually, now that you mention it, I think the one line in the title is enough. If the user wants to know which, they can look at the cast. -132.183.138.189 17:11, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
I agree, I've often come to this page myself and been thoroughly bamboozled by the italics. I think just one line at the top would be sufficient. —Guard Duck talk 18:34, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
If people want to see who went to The Ugly One's party, they can look at the picture at the top of the page. Simple as that. – The Chort 19:24, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
The image doesn't show everyone, though. There are ones who appeared in the dance scene (including Mr. Pitters, I believe) and so on. --DorianGray 20:29, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, they'll just have to look at the cast list on Teen Girl Squad Issue 10 then, won't they? – The Chort 20:32, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Coach and Such

Would anyone be opposed to me making a seperate "Coach and Olympic Man" page, considering that, combined, they have had more appearances than, say, Thomas or Manolios? Monkeytender 22:07, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Question

According to our rules, aren't we supposed to give articles to all characters that have a speaking role? --Essence of Ghost Water 03:35, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Brian

Is it possible that the effeminate male cheerleader is named Cheerleader Brian because of the come-on Strong Bad got back in sbemail_8? Just a crazy theory.

I think the name was chosen because Brian is a common first name for males. Shine Sprite (complain) 05:32, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

Gazelle Carcass

"This half-digested animal is presented by The Ugly One at the very end of Decemberween Teen Girl Squad to Cheerleader, to her dismay. All of the other girls seem to be pleased at the sight of the dead animal, despite the negative aspects of decomposing carcasses."- To me, it appears that only The Ugly One was pleased by the sight of the gazelle carcass and the other two girls weren't, but ended up bandwagoning with The Ugly One and pretending to be pleased.

Interesting theory, but that's kind of speculation. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 23:16, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
