C'mon, is this really necessary? --Trogga 18:40, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

This defies the definition of a running gag. A running gag re-appears throughout the work, not just in a single episode. Delete Loafing 21:12, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

WHHHAAATT?!!! This does NOT "defy" anything. This is a wonderful idea. There have been many running gags in one toon! I honestly think this is being too picky. If you can tell me on my talk page THREE GOOD reasons why this should go than you can sway my decision. For now it is KEEP. Super!SantanaDuper!

No one but you mentioned defiling. It defies —contradicts—the definition of a running gag. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:51, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
The thought of a running gag only spanning 1 episode despite that specific "3 toons to count" rule makes my brain split. Delete. Bad Bad Guy 03:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I did say defy. And, I have decided on something. What if I copied everything off of this page to a page such as just Single Toon Gags because it seems to be the title that bugs you guys. Super!SantanaDuper!
First of all, you did originally say "defile". Secondly, I don't think changing the title is gonna change anyone's mind. Has Matt? (talk) 22:35, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I think what santanahomerunner is saying is right, the page makes sense, but i don't think it should be classified as a running gag.--Kanjiro talk 22:42, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I have an idea! I think we should do something totally different, we should put a new categorie in the toon that has the gag and call it Gags. It could be placed right above fast forward and it would make everybody happy! We would just put what ever gag that the toon has under there, and we could put whatever running gag it has there. I hope this works, because i'm out of ideas. --Kanjiro talk 22:54, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
When someone gives me the okay, i'm going to start work on it.--Kanjiro talk 23:16, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
It's a wiki, you can edit any article always. If you can make it work, then by all means, do. --TotalSpaceshipGirl3 01:03, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Here's my issue with the idea. Every toon is full of gags. Not all gags are notable outside the toon's transcript, however. Some gags are just jokes within a toon. Others are standard types of gags similar (but not so similar as to be a reference to another work) to what we see in other comedic work. What we generally find notable here (as in deserving an article or list) are gags which are unique to H*R and which recur in 3 or more toons (a "running gag"). "Clown care" has no occurances in H*R outside of long pants. Therefore, noting it outside that toon's article is unnecessary. (In fact, noting it in that article isn't needed as it's clear from the transcript.)
It's only when a gag takes a larger life than its role in a toon or two that it deserves any special noting. If it's just a gag in a toon, it's just a gag within one toon. When the first DNA evidence mention happened earlier this year, it was not notable. If the numerous uses of it and the toon which followed all that had never happened, it would remain unnotable. It is simply because it recurred numerous times that it became noteworthy at all, let alone outside the toon's article. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:07, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, Qermaq. Delete. --Mario2.PNG Super Martyo boing! 02:43, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
In some kinds of works, it's possible to have a running gag established within the the course of one toon, movie, episode or whatever. But this really requires a much longer work than those released by TBC as part of the H*R oeuvre. In a full-length movie, you can have running gags established during the film and they may be notable. Not so much in a short toon (and even the "Big Toons" are really quite short, remember) like those this wiki is about. Therefore, Qermaq is right. Heimstern Läufer 02:47, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Even in the case of a full-length motion picture, I'd submit that the examples of notable gags are notable not on the basis of the film itself, but on the quoting and reference thereafter. It requires multiple references to a gag to make something really notable. When Harry Met Sally presents Olympia Dukakis's classic line, but it wasn't till other media referenced it that it was truly notable outside reference to that specific film. Today, "I'll have what she's having" may be a commonly recognized gag, but it wouldn't be so if not for the media using that line in parody. So should i do the gag thing or not?--Kanjiro talk 03:26, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Use your judgement. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:36, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
It is done. I'm not sure if you guys want to keep it or not, maybe STUFF it, i dunnno. Check out this.--Kanjiro talk 04:11, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Do you guys likes it? I haven't gotten any feedback yet, so I'm going to start putting it on more pages.--Kanjiro talk 19:14, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I LOVE IT! I knew there was some kind of a compromise. I'ma join in.Super!SantanaDuper!
I think "Gags" should be just before "Inside References", though. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 20:08, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
