:::The image being named Davey is not mere speculation; it's based on the fact that the guy called "Davey" at the beginning immediately puts on curly hair and a moustache, suggesting he is the hippie guitarist. Mind you, it appears he is also referred to as "Stave it off", so it could be worth a discussion. Either way, both names will certainly need mentioning. 09:35, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

::::I got the feeling that the mention of "Stave" in the fan costume deal was sort of directed at Wikifolk who have named him Davey. I thought the Davey thing was just a "Davey and Goliath" reference/parody, by the manner of their dialogue, and then they saw that people were using that as the singer's name, taking things too literally, sort of in the manner of The Exact Same, but not nearly as funny. --TimMierz 19:33, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

:::::Truth is, TMBG made this song a while ago. "Davey" was mentioned then, but wasn't connected to Stave, because there were no visuals until this toon came out. Then Stave was used to represent the singer. Given we have two separate sources for the image being named "Stave", I think that should take precedence. -- 20:03, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

::::::Stave may well be the primary name of the guitarist, and indeed given the sources this seems pretty likely. The association of Stave with Davey is still clearly there. We seem to have a reasonable consensus for the character being called "Stave" as it comes to the image of the guitarist, aka the dude who plays "stave it off, 1 2 3". Cool, we got that much. Now what do we do with Davey? Separate article, I'm guessing? We know that he is the one singing Crystal Fortress, even if the guy we see is Stave (perhaps Stave is just being used as a visual representation of Davey or something), and we've seen him appear as a puppet-type-thing in PBTC style. So perhaps have two separate articles acknowledging as much as we understand of the connection between the two? 04:34, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

:: Uh, well, gee... {My head a splode}. Seriously, though, this is a really messed up conundrum we face, here. THis seems like a critical research failure done by either us or TBC. Or neither. Or both. My head hurts. Well, one situation is just The Cheat giving him a name (and we know just how much is wrong with Cheaty's brain), whereas another is a name that is unnoffical, even in-universe. Which is better, a lie or a guess? Well, I still say Stave is the best name. As a syops once told me "The only extra work we'd have to do is the work we've already done." on the concept of a name being after making the page. I say we just go for it. We're gonna have to change it anyway, so why not? if we're right, we'll have less work. If we're wrong, we just change all of them, which we would need to do anyway. If his name really is Davey, reverting is easy to do. It's a win-win-win situation. Let's change it. Can't hurt worse than not changing it at all, right?--Jellote wuz here 22:22, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

:::Jellote, I'm not asking if we should change the guitarist's name to Stave. I'm assuming that a prioribecause it seems the evidence and consensus favour this. What I'm asking is what we do about Davey, who continues to exist as both the PBTC puppet and the singer of the song. I'm thinking he probably needs a separate article. 23:31, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

:::::That's also true. The relationship between the two isn't really clear (one explanation I thought of is that Davey and Stave are really one and the same, with Davey as a "real" name and Stave as a nickname and with Puppet Davey being a PBTC representation of the "real" person; another explanation I heard that's probably better is that Haddi-Man and The Cheat used Stave as a visual for Davey for the music video. But all that is essentially speculation.) So we have to find the way to document it as cleanly as possible. I tend to think two separate articles noting the relationship between the two is the best way to do that. 23:42, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

:::::: I think what has been done is good. The two aren't distincted into two pages, but shown in a light that seperates them. Or simply, we say that they are related, but not the same.
