Seek Bar?

What's a seek bar? How do you activate it? --Gooblies 15:09, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I'm glad someone's asks this already. I want to know, too. --oopsyoubwokeit 19:43, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Arg! Someone tell me what a seek bar is! --Gooblies 15:45, 13 Jul 2005 (UTC)

A seek bar is a useful piece of JavaScript designed to help you be able to control Flash in browsers. I think there's a link to some seek bars on the StrongBadZone page. You just add 'em to your favourites, click on the icon in favourites, and pause, rewind, fast forward or play to any part of the movie you wish. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 16:54, 13 July 2005 (BST)

The Mod

I am surprised nobody's done this yet, I am making a mod for the game. It is called "Stickly Man Adventures." The only thing is, I can't get it to work after I export it, even though I have the object library in the same file and all that. It'll continuously repeat the loading phrase. Any ideas on how to fix this? I can send the "fla" file if you email me your email address at sportyman27@hotmail.com or sportyman27@excite.com, I can't send you the swf decompiler, because it is too big to email.(Note you'll need flash mx 2004)-Quinn

Is it an exe? I cannot run exe files on a Mac. If not, I would like to try. --Darklinkskywalker 20:23, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Nope, it's a .fla/.swf file. -Quinn 22:28, 19 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Man, this is hard!

Holy Crap! This game is so hard (to me) it blows my mind! Tough jumps, no checkpoints, the works! I can't even beat level 1.2! Arrrrgh! ...Whew. Glad I got that outta my system. On a lighter note, this is a great game, if not a bit hard. -acekirby13

  • Don't feel bad, AceKirby. I can't even get past level 1.1! Fizz123
    • Whew, that makes me feel better man. I needed some serious clown care there for a second. But I did end up beating the game, which was great. --acekirby13 20:00, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • It's not as hard as you think. I suck garbage (expletive deleted) at video games, but I can do levels 1.1-3.3 jut fine. 4.1 I can't get past, but i'm getting closer.
    • Dear whoever, this was written mighty long ago, and I have since then beaten levels 1.1-5.1. I just can't beat level 5.2 now! I want to fight Nebulon! ARRRRRRRGHBLBLBLBL!!! --acekirby13|My Talk 20:26, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

Dude, I can defeat Nebulon like cake, man. I wrote the walkthroughs for level 5 (except for the cutscenes, boss and part of level 5.2) I still can't get past anything on level 4 because if I press a button too long it gets stuck in running position. Amy Whifflepoof

Whoa- you missed my point. I haven't even fought Nebulon. I can't get by the point where there is like 4 Downtants in a row. They always deplete my health fast! --acekirby13|My Talk 23:48, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

Okay, I just want to start with, HELLO! This is a stinkon' easy game when you practice, by learning timing from experience or taking altrnative routes. (these will help on level 6. It took me a while until I beat the mouse.)-Amy Whifflepoof, not signed in. By the way acekirby(whoever you are). I can beat 5.2 easily. All you have to do is stand on the edge and make sure NOTHING is under one foot. Then, to avoid Downtant fire, simply jump. Actually, the truth is, I can beat it easily because my lappy is extremely slow and old. Maestro.

Why would you want to fight Nebulon? Nobody likes his style. -Neverending Soda

I hope you finally got there acekirby, because that cloud level is WAY harder! Kvb 12:35, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Yes, yes, I've gotten there. I haven't been on the Wiki in quite some time. Currently, I've beaten all the levels, with practice. The cloud level, I thought, was easier. The only real hard thing was the boss, and I ended up beating that. Can't wait for new levels to get frustrated by! --acekirby13|My Talk 00:53, 20 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I want to fight Nebulon! ARRRRRRRGHBLBLBLBL!!! - acekirby13

Me and brother understand you. 5.2 is the hardest level he hasn't beaten. That is the suckiest. --oopsyoubwokeit 13:22, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I am still the Stinkomaster, but it took me several tries to beat Ekersby. I finally understood it after several tries and also I won on a library compy. (My compy skips, so I always run into Old Sages.) Amy Whifflepoof

Woah. I saw it with my own eyes, man. Y'see I made a custom level, put it with level five stuff, then finished 5.1 and 5.2. He's awesome. He shoots orange balls out of his eyes, crawls back and forth, so on. Try it yourself. - oopsyoubwokeit

XML

Did anyone notice that you can download and edit the XML files to create new levels? This could be good for the Fanstuff Wiki, if anyone gets it working. --EDSMILDE

- Care to share where they are? :) --AndrewNeo 18:05, 22 Mar 2005 (MST)

Well, I think you have to edit the flash file to get them to work offline first (which is not too hard). They are at:

[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

Those are the ones I found in my temp folder (even though I didn't get to those levels). If you go to View -> Page Source in Firefox, you can kinda figure out how it works (maybe). --EDSMILDE Edit: Darn, the links don't work. They are in some other folder. Once I figure out the folder name, the game will work offline. And they don't show up on Google yet.

Ooh - found it - They're in another folder called "levelData." EDSMILDE

-As a note for other people wanting to edit, you need to get the 5 level files, the main swf, and the object library: [7]. (You can see some game graphics if you view that file)

It's a pretty simple almost-XML format, I'm making a level editor for it now. Travis Wells

Woah. New enemy in that library. If anything confirms another set of levels coming up, that would. --Shadow Hog 15:07, 23 Mar 2005 (MST)
Hey, I was just about to make a level editor for it, but it probably won't be very good. EDSMILDE
Hey, if you decompile the flash file for the game you'll see there is already a level editor in there on the script for sprite 761. Unfortunately I don't know anything about flash, so I don't know what to do with that, or how to get to it, but someone must.
I'm working on an editor written in VB using the MSXML library. --breadtangle 18:30, 6 Apr 2005 (MDT)

I know all about Flash, but I don't have a decompiler -NonHacka

NOTE: With the release of Stinkoman 20X6 v6, those links have become outdated. The new ones are here. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 16:48, 4 August 2005 (BST)

Can someone please make a level editor compatible with MacOS?--Darklinkskywalker 20:38, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Closed STUFF

These Fun Facts were on STUFF and declined. If you want to discuss these facts, please make sure your votes are seperate from the original ones.

Stlunko

Stlunko, the world 3 boss, could very well be modeled after...

  • ...the final boss in the Donkey Kong game for Game Boy, in which you fight a giant version of Donkey Kong who uses two hands to smash you in a manner very similar to Stlunko.
  • ...Gamma from Mega Man 3.
  • ...Rudy, the final boss of Wario Land 3.
  • ...Kerozene, a boss added to the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.
  • Decline. If this isn't a TTATOT, I don't know what is. --Beatfox 23:19, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Second. -- tomstiff 16:11, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline, you're not trying hard enough - I'm sure you could think of lots more bosses that involve fists somehow if you tried... --phlip 20:29, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Second. I usually like these kind of Fun Facts, but it sounds like you're just not trying here. Pick one. TK600 20:08, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
      • Well, if I had to pick one, I'd definitely pick the first one; it's what the original one stated, and mentioning only that wouldn't be such a TTATOT. --Shadow Hog 02:23, 7 May 2005 (UTC)

Rose Blake

When SB says "rose face" in #125, it sounds slightly like "rose blake" in stinkoman game.

  • Double Decliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiined! Seriously, can we stop stretching Fun Facts as far as they can possibly be stretched? --ISlayedTheKerrek 15:27, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Black Spots

Stinkoman doesn't have any black spots on his cheeks for the ripped off sprites

  • Decline Maybe if I understood what this was saying I might like it more, but it still doesn't seem right. What do you guys think? -- Joshua 20:32, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Declininated I don't get it. Kiwi 17:10, 19 Apr 2005
  • Allow me I THINK what is being said is this:
The black portion of Stinkoman's mask is missing in his sprite form, because
it is a ripoff of Megaman sprites.
  • However, this is pretty useless AND false (it's not a ripoff of Megaman sprites, just strongly based on them.) Most old, small sprites lack detail seen in their fully-drawn form. So I must concur with Decline. --Jay 21:43, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • And you can't see Mario's nostrils in Super Mario Bros. So? Let's Declining Love Dasrik 23:59, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but are you asking for a Decline?!? --Beatfox 00:30, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Decline If you look at the bottom of Stinkoman's white area you can see little black lines so this 'fact' is false The_Pardack

Tampo

The name Tampo may be a reference to a Japanese kind of fried food (Tempura). Or even Tempo, the speed of music.

  • DeclineThis is very doubtful. Tempura is a big stretch, sure the manual says Tampo is as mean as he is delicious, but that hardly connects Tampo and tempura. And tempo?? Tampo has nothing to do with tempo or even anything musical. --Ogog
    • Comment Well, it IS a Mega Man parody, and many Mega Man characters are named for musical terms (Rock & Roll, Blues [in Japan], Bass, Treble, Forte [in Japan], Gospel [in Japan], Rush, Tango, Beat, Punk, Enka/Enker, Quint, Ballad(e), Duo... and I'm probably forgetting a few.) Of course, that doesn't automatically mean that Tampo was named for the term "tempo" - it probably wasn't - but it's not outside the realm of possibility. --Jay 03:21, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
      • Decline The creators of Megaman had music in mind when they made the character. They said so. --Joshua 06:03, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline Big stretch in both cases. And a Comment to Ogog, make sure that your comments are bulleted and that you show your vote as Accept or Decline. Also, make sure you remove the STUFF'd item when you put it on this page. --TheEggman 15:38, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Second. Er, the vote, that is. --Shadow Hog 17:44, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Sleckhund. --Beatfox 23:24, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Er... The meaning of Tempo might be he is going faster.
  • Comment Or it could also be a reference to tampons... Um, actually, no, forget that I said that.

Dude, Whomever thought of ths had no idea of an alternative. Maybe it's a bad translation. Or he isn't very mean and also doesn't taste very good.

Brody

Brody looks similar to Big Bird from Sesame Street.

  • DeclineAside from Brody's legs and coloring, this isn't true. And the legs and coloring don't hold much water on their own, seeing as how: A. Birds' legs look something like that and are often illustrated that way. B. Every other chicken in Level 2 is colored yellow, and chickens are often illustrated to be yellow anyway. --Ogog

Engrish

The creators of Stinkoman 20X6 are poking fun at the 'all your base are belong to us' type language goofs in the stereotypical English port of a Japanese game.

  • DeclineThere is absolutely no need to point this out. Yet another fun fact that's too obvious. --Ogog
  • Weak Accept I do agree that is kind of obvious, but this does constitute a valid reference. --TheEggman 15:38, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)

Stone Fist

When you beat the final boss, Stinkoman says he got a power-up and puts on the stone fist, showing an almost 100% chance for more levels!

  • DeclineSame as the "More Levels" fun fact listed above. Obvious and not noteworthy as a fun fact. --Ogog
  • Accept Same as my comment above - since the game has no Transcript, it's useful as a fact. --TheEggman 15:38, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Decline. This doesn't show that there will be new levels. That's what the screen AFTER the cutscene's for. --Shadow Hog 17:41, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Accept! Extremejon
  • I'm wearing clothes, does that mean for sure I'm going out? Decline Dasrik 02:33, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
    • Well that depends. If you're wearing clothes that are made of magnetic material with a strong attraction to a magnetic field just outside an open window that you're standing next to, then it might be safe to assume that you're going out.
  • Decline Now noted in the walkthrough transcript --Joshua 05:59, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Second Kvb 06:43, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline I think it is pretty much already stated. --User: Lappy 486
    • And now that more levels are actually coming out, saying more levels will come out is completely useless. user: lappy 486
  • Decline Now that a new level using the stone fist has been released, this is utterly useless. Aurora the Homestar Coder 22:06, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Control Scheme

The poor control scheme (a to jump, s to fire) may be another Mega Man reference, this time to the Mega Man Anniversary Collection which included Mega Man 1-8. On the Gamecube version, the controls for fire and jump were also messed up. (a to fire, b to jump) This eventually ended up with many frusterated gamers who intented to jump over a bottomless pit, but instead fired their plasma buster instead.

  • Decline. This has got to be a joke. Poor control scheme? Tons of computer games use cursor keys as directions and a and s as action buttons. Also it is not uncommon to see the action buttons in the same order, with jump on the left and attack on the right. Additionally, many gamers choose a and s as their main buttons when setting up games and emulators and have no joypad. I'm sorry for whoever got burned by Mega Man, but this really isn't the place for it. -PolarBoy 11:52, 22 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Second. --MZilla 23:18, 22 Mar 2005 (CST)
  • Decline. The control scheme for Stinkoman 20X6. Whoever wrote this was probably mad at MMAC and just wanted to get it out of his system. I really don't see what the problem is. I have that game, and in a few minutes I was fully adapted to the weirdish control scheme, no problem. -Joshua 05:21, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Second. I, too, have that game, and it came almost second nature. It's not a "poor" control sceme. --thatkidsam 15:41, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Decline, mostly because it's irrelevant (although I DID hate that reversed control scheme in MMAC...). --Shadow Hog 17:39, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Second and a comment. Hey, the Jump-with-B, Shoot-with-A scheme worked for Metroid Prime, why not MMAC? :P Hehe, oh well. :) -JakeARoonie 16:28, 02 Apr 2005 (CST)
  • Decline This is waaay too big of a stretch. Dasrik 02:26, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline w/Comment I've been playing MMAC on the Gamecube recently. The button layout is not that convoluted at all - once you get used to it, it's second-nature. --Jay 03:21, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline I didn't think that MMAC or Stinkoman 20X6's control schemes were "poor". Sorry you got frustrated, but looking here, the majority didn't. --acekirby13 14:01, 8 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Accept As a video game lover, I've gotta say that I am pretty used to using the right-most button to jump and the left-most button to fire. Just water this fact down a bit. -Miss Free Country USA
  • Declorne Uh... so? SP

Stoves

Planet K is in the Year 20X6, where gas stoves would have gone out of everyday life, yet some can be seen in stage 2.

  • DeclineTo quote geoguy: What's the big deal? I feel that Homestar Runner's world is on a different plane of reality. It obviouslty is, but in saying on the official Wiki page that gas stoves are supposed to be obsolete by 20X6? What is 20X6? 2016? Gas is most likely to run out in 2025 in OUR world. In Homestar's world, there may be abundant reserves of oil. Have you ever seen anyone drive a car(for real) in Free Country, USA? They may well use mainly solar power. --Ogog
  • Decline This is quite presumptuous - how do we know that gas stoves would have become osbolete? --TheEggman 15:38, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)
  • Decline maybe 20x6 is 2006... ever thought of that, smart guy? Dasrik 02:32, 5 Apr 2005 (MDT)
  • Decline Assumption! 20X6 can be anything from 2006-2096, and I hardly think gas will run out before next year. Though the 20X6 world looks much more futuristic, it's not proven that gas runs out in the Homestar Universe, like Ogog said. --acekirby13 19:28, 7 Apr 2005 (MDT)
    • Comment 20x6 could also be 20106. Maybe by that time more oil will be found.
      • Response. 20x6 is NOT 20106. I've always found the "x" to mean that it's a wildcard, meaning it could be 2006, 2016, 2026, etc. - as in time capsule, it's highly unlikely that a Number One Jam cassette or a gross old wig in a time capsule wouldn't have decomposed in 18,000 years. --TheEggman
        • Actually, its very likely since plastic, and many fabrics dont decompose at all. The magnetic tape in the casette might have decomposed but that wouldnt have mattered because Stinkoman ate the casette, not played it.---erson 23:40, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
      • But doesnt a Capital X mean the greek number for 10, and a miniscule x stand for a variable? ---erson 18:48, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
        • A capital X signifies a Roman numeral 10. And variables are usually lowercase, but if you don't have a character set with upper- and lowercase letters (like most old video games), then you just have to make do with what you got. (See also Rabbit Algebra, which seems to mix the two.) — It's dot com 21:47, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Different Colors

The fact that Gaspeau (red) and Frotzer (blue) are almost the same exact enemies may be a reference to the old Zelda games where an enemy could be red or blue and that the blue version of the enemy was always harder.

Weird glitch.

My brother's a big fan of this game. One day, long ago, we we're checking out the Continue Menu, and ALL THE LEVELS WERE THERE!!!! My brother noticed the strange thing that happened, and swore that he didn't make all this happen. He didn't have a clue of what was going on. Then I thought, This is obviously a rare glitch. I didn't do anything. So now when I see "stinkoman level <#>!" on the main page, I go the game and click "CONTINUE" and I check it out. Pretty cool, huh? I'm just wondering if anyone else expierenced this glitch. --oopsyoubwokeit 20:14, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)

That's not a glitch. Everyone can access all the levels, at all times. The only time when levels were hidden was when there were only three. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 20:19, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Well, also, you can't access stage #.2 until you beat #.1. But you can access all of the #.1s at any time. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 20:20, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Right, forgot about that. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 20:22, 12 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Oh yeah, and when a new level is released, the previously released one's .2 is now accessible. - oopsyoubwokeit

I see. That's probably also why my grandmother's computer has it too. Oh welll. List of levels my brother hasn't beaten yet:

Levels:

  • 5.2 (It's pretty hard, my brother can't get though the uptants in a row)
  • 7.2 (My brother has beaten this level at grandmother's, but when we came back it was gone.)
  • 8.1 (For some reason, it came out today. My brother can't play it because he's still asleep. That, and the computer can't access the game.)
  • 8.2 (Ditto.)

Bosses:

  • Tampo (Even if it's the first level boss. it was supposed to be easy.)
  • Nebulon (If you can't beat the .2 level, you can't see/beat the boss.)
  • The Liekand (He has seen it, though.)
  • An Ice Machine (Ditto with The Leikand.)
  • Unnamed Boss (For the reason he can't play Level 8.)

G'bye. --oopsyoubwokeit 13:17, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

  • Well, TBC are assuming you've beat all the levels so far, and doesn't want good players to get frustrated at playing the levels all over again each time stinkoman updates. --Gooblies 00:56, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

NEBULON IS TOO HARD!

I've beaten every level except for 5.3! I can only hit Nebulon up to six times, then it starts getting hard! Even The Liekand and An Ice Machine is easier! --Gooblies 14:46, 14 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Keep trying! --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_

Well, i got it. --Gooblies 00:55, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Object library

I don't believe that the PUSH stove has been used in level seven. I don't recall that snowflake either (or maybe I do, it might be something else that I'm thinking of). What's with the purple arrow things? Alot of the stuff in the Object Library doesn't seem to be used in the game. --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 03:44, 26 Jul 2005 (UTC)

The purple arrow things are part of the Stinkoman level editor that TBC use, of which remnants remain in the stinkogame.swf on the site (but can't be accessed as vital parts seem to be missing). When the level editor is active, moving platforms and the like stay still and the arrows show where they will move to. --phlip TC 16:33, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Level -0.2 inaccessible?

Alright, I've beaten the unnamed boss on level -0.3 (8.3), but when the game restarts level -0.2 isn't available for selection in the level select menu. Does anyone else have this glitch? --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 15:20, 1 August 2005 (BST)

    • Probably. It fixed itself shortly after I posted this anyway, so I should probably remove this section. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 15:28, 1 August 2005 (BST)

Yet another easy level...

XML Page

Should we make a page for the stinkoman XML files? --– Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 07:44, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I already did. And it includes the externalSwf files as well. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 12:45, 2 August 2005 (BST)
I mean a proper page and not a user page like Stinkoman/XML --– Pertmywert (Talk·Edits) 22:19, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Fall and die?

I'm playing a web version (from i-am-bored.com), and all that happens is that Stinkoman falls down the screen and dies, no ground, no bosses, WTF is going on?

Don't even acronym swears, and just use the one of Homestar runner.com those web ones are unrealiable. User:Rogue Leader.sig

My guess is that they only saved stinkogame.swf without the levelData or externalSwf files. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 02:48, 3 August 2005 (BST)
how can a normal person (like me) save everything onto their (my) computer?--StrongBad110990 18:19, 9 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Your best bet is to download phlip's Stinkoman 20X6 Cheat Program, then run nocheater.html. You can find it here. It's a lot easier than grabbing a list of links from somewhere, and saving them into the appropriate folders. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 19:53, 9 August 2005 (BST)
Look for Venusy's Complete list of files used to mod Stinkoman, then download all those files. And another thing; don't use WTF. Use WTC. It makes you sound more like a true Homestar Runner fan.

Strange Storyline

Well, the storyline's kinda getting dull since Pan-pan was kidnapped. Almost all the levels 4-10 is/will be about rescuing pan-pan (and starting level 7, 1-up too. ) TBC, this is an awesome game, but the story... --Gooblies 14:06, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Stinkoman is emulating 8-bit platformers. "Rescue Pan-Pan" IS the story. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 15:01, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Thank you Stinkoman! But our panda is in another castle! ;) --Pidgeot (t) (c) (e) 17:50, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Besides, as you may have noticed, even Stinkoman admits the plot is utterly predictable. Although, even though the PLOT might be predictable, chances are, if -0 or 3 are any indication, the level scenarios won't be. :) --Shadow Hog 23:03, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Another possible Negatory level reference?

I'm not adding this to the item page, but if someone can verify what I'm remembering and thinks it's useful, then add it to the "Real World References" for the Level -0 (Negatory) world. I seem to remember that in the original NES Metroid, with just an autofiring controller (ah, NES Advantage, we had good times, yes?), you could get wedged in a door, then collapse/expand rapidly and climb up through the wall. If you did this on one particular door, you would go up into a very strange and frankly hazardous area that was all messed up (sounding a lot like that lost Sonic level). It was easy to get stuck, and I don't think any of the doors worked properly. Anyone remember what I'm talking about? If so, it's perhaps another possible reference like that Sonic world, with the advantage that no Game Genie or anything was required to get to it. -- DLR, Aug 3 2005, 1:00pm

The reference to Hidden Palace is dubious at best. Hidden Palace is nothing like Negatory World. The Game Genie version is such that the entire thing looks like nothing but static (since the HPZ graphics were removed from the final cartridge) and the Sonic 2 Beta version is not glitched, just unfinished. Do you have any links for the Metroid reference? I'm not familiar with that. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 17:32, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Here's one reference: Wikipedia: Metroid Talk. And a technical explainer on Metroid's map structure and why it's a glitch, not a true "hidden area". It's interesting stuff, but admittedly probably not a direct inspiration for the Negatory world. -- DLR, 216.41.87.210 23:48, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I do think it may be a reference to Hidden Palace, because there are screenshots of it. They do look similar to -0. In both versions, the level is incomplete, but in the beta ROM which I have, the graphics are not messed and it is easier to play. Level 8 more than probably has something to do with this Zone. --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 14:53, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I've played HPZ, too, and don't see the resemblance. Neither version is particularly glitchy; one has missing graphics and one has perfect graphics but is unfinished. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 17:52, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I still like to think that Level -0 is a reference to the 'Glitch City' bug in Pokémon Red/Blue versions. The randomly generated graphics are similar, as is the ability to defy the game's physics (example: Stinkoman can stand on the air at the beginning of the lever, and you could Surf through solid objects in the Glitch City bug). Also, there are many points in Glitch City where your character could become trapped in a place that seems solid, just like the opening cut-scene where Stinkoman was stuck in the wall. TBC have made Pokémon references before (Cheatachu, anyone?), and the glitchy nature of the first Pokémon games are widely known. Now, I wouldn't go so far as to compare Ekersby with Missingno., but the parallels between Level -0 and Glitch City are very similar. But, with all that in mind, Super Mario Bros.'s Minus World was still the first thing to come to mind. Glitch City occurred to me just as soon as I started playing the level. --DorianGray

BUT, in the Sonic 2 Beta ROM, act 2 of HPZ puts you stuck inside a wall. That MUST have something to do with it. --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 18:01, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Stuck inside a wall comes from Minus World. You know, Minus World, Negatory Level... Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 19:19, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

But you're not stuck in it, you slide through it until you come out the other side. --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 22:02, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

And Stinkoman doesn't slide through the wall to get out, he Stinkoblasts (is that a good name?) it. Wonder what that might be a reference to? --Strong Rad 02:07, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

This might need archival

Am I the only one who thinks the talk page on here is getting a LITTLE too big for its britches? I mean, cripes, look at the length of the TOC. That's pretty ridiculous; one entire page of scrolling down before you actually reach text. --Shadow Hog 01:36, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I vote for moving everything that hasn't been changed since the start of July or so to Talk:Stinkoman 20X6/Archive or somesuch... I can do it now if noone else wants to. --phlip TC 04:39, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I concur. It really is too long. Go right ahead and archive it. --DorianGray

If this does get archived (and I'm not necessarily saying it should), you shouldn't move the threads based on date. You should move the ones that should have been posted on the forum. Anything related to actually maintaining the page (for example, closed STUFF), should stay. — It's dot com 04:56, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Okay, so after a second viewing under the tutelage of Pom Pom's keen eyes, I see that most of this page is idle chatter. I'm all for archiving it. But, like I said before, anything wiki-related should stay, no matter the date. — It's dot com 05:02, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

There we go... Everthing here has been edited recently or is (IMO) still relevant... I might have been a bit overzealous, feel free to move anything back if need be. (I got edit conflicted with your message, IDC, I'll take another look soon, I just want to get this edit in) --phlip TC 05:20, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Levls to co me

I've noticed that there is aglitched up "more levels to come" sign at teh end of level -0. Plesae picture! --anony

I've noticed thatyou are "not logged in" so y dont u log in. Plesae log in! --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 02:48, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Ha! Good one! Anyway, COME is spelled C OME on that screen, not CO ME. And the music that usually plays on the normal, non-glitched version stutters frequently, or so it seems, because I seek-bar'd my way to that screen, and it stuttered like that. It's all like, (mocking music) "bowbaow-bowbaow-bowbaowwwwwbowbowbow bowbaow-bowbaow-bowbaowwwwwbowbowbow", etc. --Strong Rad 01:49, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Level 9

What do you think level nine will be? My guess is an underwater bored.

It could also be underground cave. I hope level 10 is something like "The Doomsday Zone" from "Sonic 3 & Knuckles" --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 02:51, 15 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I've got a few good ones. One is "The castle" or "Spelunking" or "Candyland" or even "The desert," or "The swamp". Amy Whifflepoof

The Flow

I've noticed that owhen you start level 1.2 (maybe the others work as well) on the TRY LEVEL! screen, it says something about YOU GOTTA GO WITH THE FLOW or something like that. I can't read it cause it flashes too fast. Can anyone get a snapshot of it? — —Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 15:41, 16 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Two Questions

I just got a seek bar, and I was looking around in the Flash file. Here are some questions:

  1. Is the music meant to skip like that at the "MORE LEVELS TO COME" (in this case, "MORE LEVLS TO C OME") screen, or is it because I was messing around?
  2. Where in the Flash file is Undefined.Undefined? Found it.

--Strong Rad 01:50, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

It's meant to sound like that - since it comes just after the glitch level. --phlip TC 01:52, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Oh. --Strong Rad 02:02, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Astromund trash can lid?

I don't really know, this is a real stretch. I remember when I was a kid I used to play this MS-DOS game callled: "Math Rescue". It was about numbers being stolen by these aleins called gruzzles, but you could take hits without dying if you had trash can lids, used as shields. Does that have relation to the Stinkomanuel? Amy Whifflepoof

Undefined.Undefined?

Where the heck is that level? I can't find it!

Do you have a seek bar? If you don't, you'll need to get one to be able to view that level. Why do you need to? It's just a grey hole. Oh and by the way... Where the heck do I get a seek bar? I can't find one! I've tried downloading it before but it just says "No scripatable flash on this page." --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 02:43, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Bookmark the button, or for you <shaking-green-text>Internet Explorer</shaking-green-text> users, add it to your favorites. Then go around to the end of the flash file, and you'll find Undefined.Undefined. And it's not a grey hole, it's a black hole. --Strong Rad 20:50, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I added it to my favorites (bookmarks on firefox, but that's on my other 'puter still won't work) but nothing happens! How do I get it to work? --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 02:46, 28 Aug 2005 (UTC)

You have IE? Cuz then you have to add the Seek Bar for IE to your favorites. And you can't use it on the swf.

I have IE 5, Netscape 7, and Firefox 1.0.6 but on fire fox, I add it to my personal toolbar, and when I'm on the page, I click it, and it replies, once again, with "No scriptable flash on this page". And it says IE for WINDOWS, not Mac, so I can't get it to work. I try and try but nothing happens.--—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 00:06, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I just moved the seek bar to the same position as the s in characters and all the music started playing, what looked like part of the object library was on the screen, and even part of the flash for ekersby sprites morphing. I dunno what the seek bar has against the game and the games menu, but it's so weird. Seek Bar
