[edit] Stinkomanual?

Am I the only one who can't find this, whatever it is?--Lord Pikachon

  • It should be a link right under the controls button at the start menu?

[edit] Filmography?

I've been wondering, does this count as an appearance in Stinkoman Filmography, or do games not count? --Venusy 20:57, 23 Mar 2005 (GMT)

  • On this site, I'm sure there'd be no way to stop people from saying so. However; I in all due respects, say if it's a FILMography, it's for FILMS. Go see if there's some kind of GAME-ograpgy if you want to count that!
    • IMDB lists video games in filmographies. --JZ

[edit] Save file

Does anyone know the name of the file which holds the save data for the game? I have downloaded all the other necessary files but I want to have a save file in there so I don't have to play through all the levels again (Yes, I have beaten the first 3.)

On XP it's the C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\<randomID>\www.homestarrunner.com\stinkogame\stinkogame.swf\stinkoman.sol file. I haven't checked, but I imagine on 9x/ME it's in the C:\Windows\Application Data\... folder. No idea on other OSes. Travis Wells

[edit] Level 3.1 Level 3.2 -- HOW!?

How do you beat level 3.1? Do you have to collect some fixed amount of gold or wait a certan amount of time? I can't beat it!

Collect 20 pieces of gold from the rain drops. I believe it tells you that when you start the level. --Shadow Hog 09:22, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
Oops, I didn't read that. Well I got to 3.2, but now I can't get more than 4. Every freakin' piece of bread is surrounded by like 50 other things. Plus, there's one piece every like 50 screens.
You have to collect 10 pieces of bread, and each bad item deletes a bread you got. That's really all there is to it. A good idea is to just avoid everything until you reach a bread all by itself. It's not really as hard as you say. --Joshua 15:08, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)
Little tip; Bread usually come in clusters. if you hang in one spot and dodge all the bad things, you can get about 2 breads.

[edit] Proofs of more levels

Is anyone else really annoyed by all the fun facts in the "Remarks" section that say "This is shown in the game so it means there will be more levels"? I'm not going to get RID of them, because they are true, but it seems pretty obvious by the MORE LEVELS SOON screen that there will be more levels. We don't need any other worthless proof. Tom H 12:22, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)

Do you have to beat the game to get that screen? 'Cause many haven't beat'd it yet.
Yes, but it's in the section anyway. Or at least it should be. Tom H 12:54, 28 Mar 2005 (MST)

[edit] Low Quality...!

Hey...I just noticed something...the game is initially set to low quality. If you make it better, it just looks more blurry. --Color Printer 18:46, 24 Mar 2005 (MST)

Yeah, they always make the games with a classic look. Sometimes loads faster that way. --EDSMILDE

[edit] Is no good for you

I think the 'Don't drink, is no good for you' is a reference Tuco's line in 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'.

  • I think more likely it's a reference to the "don't do drugs" messages a lot of arcade games used to have (still have?)--Big Dog 18:35, 25 Mar 2005 (MST)
    • Yep, they still have them. --Color Printer 11:24, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)

[edit] Doesn't work on OS X?

I simply cannot get the game to work here on OS X. I've tried different browsers, HTML and SWF, visiting mirror sites -- every time the same thing happens: when I click new game and get past the little startup movie to the part where the character appears on the screen, I simply cannot get Stinkoman to move. None of the keys seem to work. He just stays there and waits. Any ideas? The keyboard works in all the other games. AaronSw 23:55, 25 Mar 2005 (MST)

Do you have the latest version of flash? --EDSMILDE
Yes.
If you don't click on the actual flash file (example: clicking around the actual game) will make it so the game doesn't respond to your commands. Click the game to see. --Gooblies 20:17, 10 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Add an article on custom levels?

I think we should have an article on it, and provide external links to all levels people have made. Who thinks this is a good idea? -- nintendorulez 14:33, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)

I think that's what Fanstuff's for. Not that I know for sure, I've only messed with the main Wiki. --Shadow Hog 15:05, 27 Mar 2005 (MST)
Yes, that is what Fanstuff wiki is for. That's the whole reason it was created- fan material. →[[User:FireBird|FireBird]]
But an article about level editing might be okay. --EDSMILDE

[edit] Current Level Editing Status

Has anyone made anymore headway into level editing? I've got the whole thing working locally, and can even edit the XML files to make simple changes, however I do not have the time nor experience to make a level editor.

Additionally, in the XML files, the <D> field seems to just be an object count, but what could <sT> be?

I think some serious inspection of the SWF file and the code is needed before we can do full-featured levels. especially for cT types.

Also trying to figure out how to launch the level editor - I see the entire class. Is there a Flash debugger where I can call a function/object at will?

I just finished a level editor, after all kind'sa studying that <sT> stuff. I'll try to get it out soon. EDSMILDE

I already have a great working editor for this game. I had it finished a week after Stinkoman first came out. A new version has just been released. Check it out here: http://www.geocities.com/joesarcade/stinkoman.zip or here: http://joesarcade.hopto.org:8093/stinkoman.zip superjoe30@gmail.com

  • The cutscenes don't work... And you can't create a dumb wall level. Kvb 08:48, 26 May 2005 (UTC)
  • But how COULD you create a Dumb Wall level? This thing is great. I already have an evil, evil replacement for 1.1 and part of a 4.1 replacement (1-Up is placed automatically.) --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 04:24, 27 May 2005 (UTC)

I didn't include the cutscenes in the package because you don't need them to make levels. If you want to watch the cutscenes, play the real game.

  • Actually, once you publish it, the cutscenes work. [User:11wowirocksomuch11][11wowirocksomuch]

[edit] Fading Blue Boxes

I didn't want to post this in the article, but I don't think Flash would generate those fading blue boxes. I um, really don't see how. Besides, how would there be such oddly shaped boxes? I thought it was just a Nintendo thingy.

It was a reference to Nintendo games that left those artifacts. --ackicantthinkofaname

[edit] Article on custom levels

I made one where you can put the code for your custom level here on the fanstuff wiki. Should I put a link to it on the Stinkoman 20X6 page? --Color Printer 16:29, 2 Apr 2005 (MST)

I don't think so as of yet. If levels are added and stuff, and a tutorial on how to do make a level, then sure. But that's my opinion. --Joshua 18:46, 2 Apr 2005 (MST)

[edit] When you see a boss...

When a boss comes up on the screen, some voice shouts something. Do you know it says?

Catsmeat

Something on the lines of "Are you asking for a challenge?" You could have found that out on the walkthrough. --Joshua 20:49, 2 Apr 2005 (MST)

Yeah.. That's Stinkoman.

In level 5 it's "I want to be the guy too!", though. Kvb 10:43, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tonberry reference?

In the manual entry for "pooru-pooru", it states, "Land on one and it's DOINK for you!" I swear this is a reference to Tonberrys from the Final Fantasy series. Can anyone confirm this? --Bdragon

Doink is a sound word. It's just another case of ottomatopeia otamatapia otttamadapeia I can't spell it, whatever it is. --thatkidsam 21:16, 11 May 2005 (UTC)

I believe you want: onomatopoeia

[edit] Update Ahoy!

Stinkoman 20X6 has been taken off the H*R website. TBC are probably updating it. I can just smell new levels! -- Joshua 15:50, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • I sure as heck hope they are! I was going to try to play it (I haven't in a while) but it was gone! --MessedRocker (not registered)
Me too! I'm almost certain that it's an update on the game. I CAN'T WAIT! --acekirby13 21:12, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Well, I think we should all join hands and pray with all our hearts that Trogador is finally publicly revealed! -- Homeschool Winner 11:39, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Have you played it? Is he in there? →FireBird
  • I doubt it. Trogador page:"According to TBC, he is likely never going to be used on the site." Kvb 12:01, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
    • Uh, uh, uh! You stopped a little short there, pal. The full sentence is "According to TBC, he is likely never going to be used on the site, but they may yet change their minds." I think that they might put him in there as a boss, but that's just me. --acekirby13 19:58, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • The game has been updated with at least one new level. --63.202.45.187 22:20, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • A beatable, npcTrogdor? Cool! I just whipped 4.3. 10 euros says they'll never rescue Pan-Pan. (Who kidnapped him anyways???)
I'm predicting a Stinkly Man appearance soon. -- Joshua 01:14, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
It was the same silohouette(where's the spelling fairy when you need it?) that kidnaps 1-Up. It was da Coach!
  • Well, there appears to be no Trogador throughout the new level, but we'll see. When I heard them say that they probably wouldn't use him at the NYU thing, they seemed pretty unsure, so just pray. -- Homeschool Winner 02:49, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • I wouldn't even want him in the game. I love the new level, though. Great difficulty. Too bad I beat it in a few minutes. No new power up?? Then they could have at least let me keep that fist... Kvb 11:28, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • Man, the new level is really hard! The others were a snap, but I just can't beat the "puzzle" in 4.1! --thatkidsam 20:18, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
  • It looks like the "barking" sound that 1-UP makes in the level 2 cutscene (following the level 1 boss) has been removed. It's present in the level 4 cutscene (following the 3 boss), though. Bug?
  • When you get to a boss level, and loose a life, is it just me or does the floor disappear in later lives (and hence you fall through and loose immediately)?
  • New levels...YET AGAIN! Man, TBC are just cranking out the levels now! It's great! ...but I can't beat level 5.2... --acekirby13|My Talk 20:28, 10 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Ahem, TBC just "cranked out" Level -0(8) and I can't play it. That's dumb. But I totally think that the shadow guy (thought to be 20X6 Coach Z) should make an appearance as a boss. I just love "the mask comes off" episodes, so when the shadow guy is revealed, he'll scream or something. That'll be hillarious. --oopsyoubwokeit 13:33, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Level 6

  • I wonder what level 6 will be like. I know you control stinkoman again, but any other ideas about it? --Gooblies 01:43, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Maybe it will be where the final boss is the silloute dingie. --Gooblies 01:44, 13 May 2005 (UTC) again
  • It will most likely have a cloud-like design, because several of the next, unseen platforms and hazards have a cloud-theme. (I know this by working with an editor) -- Joshua 01:46, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Or maybe and ice world, almost every video game has fire and ice levels. The_Pardack
    • There probably will be an ice level (Level 4 counts as a fire level), but it won't be level 6, which is almost definately going to be in the clouds: [1] --phlip 14:40, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
  • Maybe 1-up has to get back from the moon via space station, or to make it even more fantastic, he has to bomb a Death Star maybe. Or... Pan Pan has been sold to bounty hunters and you have to get him back...Amy Whifflepoof 15:46, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
  • We shall soon see, I went to play Stinkoman just now and it wouldn't load, but the address bar said it was version 4. You know what that means; update, more levels, WOO!

Oh and I realize level 4 was a fire board, I not that dumb.The_Pardack

  • It's already up, though I didn't notice it on the main page. And let me tell you: 6.1 wasn't that bad, but 6.2 is EVIL INCARNATE! Those stupid rising-and-lowering electrical outlet things almost never fail to take one or two units of life from me each, there's precarious jumping everywhere, and so far, I've only found one Power Crunch - pretty far in, too (though not as hard to grab as it looks.) --Jay (Talk) 18:26, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
    • Urgh. Finally made it to the boss - with two units of energy left and no reserve lives. It's a tornado with glasses, BTW (don't know its name because I can't get the Episode 6 portion of the Stinkomanuel to load. --Jay (Talk) 18:38, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
    • The boss is evil too. Finally made it with three lives, but it didn't help (thanks to the lack of checkpoints and the ability to start at any reached non-boss level, I learned that there's no reason not to restart when you lose one life in a stage - except that it takes a little bit longer.) --Jay (Talk) 18:47, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
      • The boss has a pretty predictable pattern, so he's pretty easy to beat. The only problem is that he takes so many hits to kill that if you make a few stupid mistakes, you're screwed.
  • The one thing that really got me on this one was level 6.2's ending. Level 5.2 was hard enough with the several Downtants, but the platform that you need to reach in order to beat 6.2 was unbelievably difficult. If you didn't time it just right, you were dead. It took me several tries to get it. I didn't find anything else so difficult about level 6.2, I was able to get to the end-area with 3 lives and full health usually, after all the losses on the end platform. In the end I finally beat it. But then again, level 7 won't be any easier... unless it's something like level 3. --SBEmail22
  • Level 6 was ridiculously easy. It was really rather anticlimatic after level 5 was so hard. I spent days on level 5. Level 6 took 15 minutes.
  • This is one of the hardest videogame boards I have ever played. Level 6 is almost unbeatable, kudos to TBC for giving this video game nut a good challenge (pardon the pun) The Pardack
  • The lack of checkpoints kill me in this game! I always get to the last two disintegrating clouds (on level 6.2) and then jump, but the freakin' up-down bar crap drops! AGH! I can even see the * Flag! Cheatachu72 18:14, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Tip: In order to finish level 6.2, you need to jump onto the clouds when the trap is down. Once you reach the platform, immediately jump. THis will make you reach the flag platform. Maestro-not logged in

[edit] Did Anyone Else Get This Glitch?

So I'm playing through my favoriate scene 2.2, and I get to 2.3, mr. big bird starts attacking. Its 11:19PM and I don't care, so I let myself die... Bird's feet weaken me to my last power-up, then the beak attack does me in... I have 2 mans left, but the return of the challenge hasn't a floor... I fall to my doom... and it repeats... V.3 of the game... What's up with this?

  • Happened to me, too, in both V3 and 4. Same thing happens with level 1's boss fight. No idea why. It worked fine in earlier versions. Happens with both locally-saved and website copies, in Firefox and IE (same plugin, so that's not surprising). --The Archon 23:20, 19 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Shadowy Figure Revealed!

At the end of the boss battle in 5.2 take a chose look at the mysterious figure. He has a perfectly round head with a what looks like a baseball cap. Which makes him 20X6 Coach Z.

Mystery solved.

Whoa... Couch Z! You sit on him and watch your old Star Wars movies! Hey look! I found a quarter! Amy Whifflepoof

  • I fixed the spelling, you know there are nicer ways to tell someone they made a mistake.

I knew it all along. Seriously, that was quite obvious. I think his name is Coach X. Kvb 19:19, 24 May 2005 (UTC)

I agree, I also do know he will be found by who I call "Cheat-o-oki". Too obvious... Mr.NiceGuy

[edit] Don't read this if you like the game

I don't want to start a flame war (even though I probably will), but I just have to say that I'm really starting to hate this game. Aside from being pointlessly difficult, it doesn't really capture the fun that Megaman (and games of that era) had. For one, Megaman was about killing enemies with cool weapons, not hopping around on platforms and avoiding indestructible saw blades. Sure, Megaman had that, but it was never the case that the best strategy was to avoid enemies (which seems to be the case in Stinkoman). And what's up with the fact that you inevitably have to go completely out of your way in order to get a power pill, which means that after you're done backtracking your power is most likely right back where you started. The storyline is completely flat, and seems to revolve around the characters sitting at home, and then leaving home to go somewhere, and just generally ignoring the storyline. It's probably just me, but after suffering though 6.1 I have no desire to continue on to 6.2. Granted, they're working with limited media, but still... 24.239.141.162 22:41, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

I'm with you on the difficulty, brother. I don't see anything else wrong with the game. But that's just Videlectrix.

Oh, wait, did I mention Edsmilde has a level editor so that you can make it easier or so? It might help. -MK and/or BurnBox 22:46, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure that's the point. Not to make it a "cool" game, but to make it funny, like everything else on the website. No Smorking 22:54, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

But.. It would be funnier if it was only one level and you didn't have to play through it... like Super Kingio Bros. 24.239.141.162 23:24, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, but that would suck. At least this one is a real game. No Smorking 23:32, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

If it wasn't too much of a hassle (since a lot of the difficulty has to do with jumping), it would be nice to have different difficulty levels. As it stands, this game is too easy for me, but I know people who have trouble with the first level. I guess it just depends on what you're into... I happen to love the game (as much as one can love a game, anyway).

[edit] Object Library Links

Is there any point to having the object library links (cutsceneds/xml/etc) at the bottom of the page? I saw that Philip added them there in the last few days, and I'm wondering what the point is....you can't do anything with them really. (Unless i'm missing the point) Should we remove the links? --Duke33 14:44, 18 May 2005 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure whether to remove them or not. They can be used to mod the game, and I guess he thought that only a few people could find them in my post in the XML section. I'll leave 'em for now, and see if anyone else has any opinions on this. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 18:14, 18 May 2005 (BST)
Well I figured we link to things like the virus'd Sketchbook and such in virus, so I may as well put all those links there. Besides, my reasoning was that this is a wiki - if it shouldn't be there then someone will remove it. --phlip 04:24, 19 May 2005 (UTC)
Someone has. Unfortunately, it was Trogga, and he has a reputation for cleaning a little too much up, as seen in this edit here. No one else seemed to have any opinion about this, so add 'em back if you want. I think I'll put them on my user page actually, to preserve the links. --videlectrix.pngENUSY discussionitem_icon.gif user.gifmail_icon.gif, 19:44, 23 May 2005 (BST)
