Ding! StrongBadZone is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Old Random Chatter

Strongbadzone is extremely similar to Red Alarm, a game for the Nintendo Virtual Boy. The red line 3-D graphics, and even the face on the wall shooting geometric shapes. Too bad it never said "Your head a splode," though. It just wasn't the same. Oh, well.

Agreed. -Justin Hack 10/09/04

I feel that it is more of a reference to the Vectrex - adam

you got a point there but it seems a bit odd for tbc to refrence a obscurly known game on a obscurly known game system (forgive my spelling)

"I Strong Bad! I hunger!" is probably a reference to Sinistar, an arcade game famous for its menacing digitized quotes, including "I live! I hunger!" The voice clips for Strong Bad Zone are similar in style to these quotes.

Except for the "Your head A-splode" thing.

Also, the giant Strong Bad head could be a reference to the giant-head villains that would taunt you between rounds in Sega/Gremlin's vector arcade games Space Fury and Zektor.

Did he say "Your head A-splode"?

Or, the Strong Bad head may be a reference to Andross from StarFox on the SNES. Their similarities are: they are both shaped like a head, and they both shoot square projectiles from their mouths.

He still never said "Your head A-splode".

From what I gather from retro-gaming, Sinistar seems to be the best guess. However, I would like to turn your attention to Battlezone. I remember playing this game ever so long ago and its graphics engine truly reminds me of StrongBadZone. Furthermore, when I was reading about it now, I discovered that the DOS port was named bzone.exe, which would be consistant with "sbzone". BACK OFF BABY

How do I make it say "BACK OFF BABY"? I read somewhere that you can do so, and when I used a seek bar bookmarklet, I saw that "BACK OFF BABY" is in the game, so how do I make it say "BACK OFF BABY"? -woddfellow2|

Although the clip for BACK OFF BABY is in the game, there is no way of accessing it without a seekbar, unless there is some sort of button combination (like TROGDOR!, where pressing K makes the machine say "Trogdor".) --Venusy (Talk) (Contributions), 20:42, 7 May 2005 (BST)

Page title

Why is Strong Bad Zone at StrongBadZone if the game's title is clearly Strong Bad Zone?—StrongstarRunbad 12:12, 9 Jan 2005 (MST)

Image:StrongBadZone.PNG looks like StrongBadZone to me. -- Tom 09:37, 10 Jan 2005 (MST)

I'm wondering why "Bad" is capitalized. On the box art, it looks like "STRONGBADZONE" (though I bet that's just font limitation), and in the game, it looks like "StrongbadZone". SA2Tails 01:56, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Seek Bar

When I try to download a seek bar, it tells me there is no scriptable flash on the page. How do I get it? --Darklinkskywalker (logged out)

Put the link to download the seek bar in your favorites, then go to the game, and select the seek bar in your favorites. —BazookaJoe 20:07, 17 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Tried it. Doesn't work. I tried it with Netscape 7, Mozilla, IE, and FireFox. --—Darklinkskywalker|Talk_|i did this stuff_ 00:11, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

In firefox drag the seek bar link onto the address bar and it should work. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:18, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Game Music

This has always bugged me. Isn't the game music a sample of "Photobooth" by Death Cab for Cutie? I'm almost positive that the beginning "electronic beat" is a sample.

Here's the game music: http://www.videlectrix.com/songs/sbzone_music.mp3

Here's a Youtube video that uses the song: http://youtube.com/watch?v=p_4UIlx_6sY
