Since I was the person who added this thing to [[HRWiki:Article Cleanup]], I thought I should explain what things need cleanup:
 +
*Practically every sentence is actually a sentence fragment, and no other Relationship articles have any fragments.
 +
*The gallery of Strong Bad hurting Strong Sad might need updating.
 +
*Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines, so that fact might have to be merged with the intro or something like that.  The section isn't long enough to be simply renamed "Fun Facts".

The page reads that Strong Sad mocks Strong Bad's choice of sleepware at a slumber party, but are we sure it was SB's?  I always thought it was kinda ambiguous, since, it's possible that SB went to a party were someone '''else''' was wearing questionable tighty whiteys, and it gave 'im the [[jibblies]], so when he says "Don't ask me" he doesn't wanna be reminded.  Does that make sense, and if so, is it feasible? == Unneeded references ==

OK, I think there are some things in here that aren't needed. Strong Bad gave almost everyone last place or a form of it in Pumpkin Carve-nival, and Strong Bad was only imagining Strong Sad dead in fingers and there was no proof he did anything to him. And in Strong Sad's character video, he only stated that Strong Bad bullied him but Strong Bad didn't actually bully him there. And in H*R PP, there is no proof Strong Bad did anything to Strong Sad and that The Cheat did, instead. And in Sbemail 150?!?, Strong Bad fell asleep during Strong Sad's thoughts because, admit it, they were pretty boring. No bullying there. In morning routine, Strong Sad had good(or so) reasons to interrupt Strong Bad, so it wasn't really revenge. And how is shushing in extra plug anything close to revenge?<br /> So, anyone that bothered to read this long speech of examples, I think we should have a cleanup on this page so everything can be at least 99% accurate. {{User:Hrjcm/sig}} 00:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
 +
:Pumpkin Carve-nival counts because Strong Sad put more effort into his pumpkin than most of the others did.  Fingers counts because Strong Bad is basically wishing Strong Sad was dead.  I see no reason to remove the character video.  Your reason for deleting Sbemail 150 is purely opinion.  I think only Pay Plus, morning routine, and extra plug should go.  +
:While this cannot be proven with hard evidence, the page implies that it is Strong Sad's revenge the way he emphasizes 'found', as well as a semi-evil smile. Supposing that he did just find them somewhere, it could still be revenge because he's keeping them away from Strong Bad.

== Stockholm's Syndrome ==
 +
 +
In at least three instances, Strong Sad is shown idolizing or at least wanting to please Strong Bad to the point of exaggeration. This is evident in the sbemails fan club, rated, and love poem. Fan club shows Strong Sad forming the Deleteheads, rated shows him in a tent waiting for Strong Bad to say "A-restricted!", and love poem shows Strong Sad (albeit in an easter egg) standing by a phone made to look like Strong Bad because he thinks the email totally describes him. Should this be added or made a new article entirely?

Current revision as of 03:02, 10 March 2017

Ding! Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

Strong Bad hurting or insulting Strong Sad seems like such a generic and common thing that I really don't find worthy of a page. Two cents? —FireBird|Talk 02:22, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree. Hurting Strong Sad is Strong Bad's bread and butter. Or at least his crackers and mustard. With a page like this, we might as well make one about Coach Z's accent or something. I say delete it. --DorianGray
You know why I made this page? Because when the wiki was down I tried to think of all the times something in particular has happaned. Maybe something slipped my eye, like G. Then I thought to myself "Strong Bad hurts Strong Sad almost every other toon! How about I make a page about it!" I know that Strong Bad hurts other characters too, but he likes to annoy Strong Sad in particular, so it is special. And those were my two cents. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 02:45, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Maybe it should be treated more like a list or a log instead of an explanation and exemplification of a running gag. Would that soften anybody's hearts? —BazookaJoe 02:51, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I kind of like this page. We have other lists of things that happen a lot (in running gags). Why not this? I think it's kind of funny. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 02:24, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I like it too. Besides, unlimited space can fit on the wiki, almost, so why delete it? — talk Bubsty edits
I don't know if this should be a running gag, but it should be something. Maybe it should me mereged with strong sad or strong bad. Maybe with both! I don't know, but I think we should keep the content--bkmlb 03:43, 11 Aug 2005 (UTC)
This is isn't an inside joke. Lots of people are mean to their younger siblings, and Strong Bad is an overall mean person. Swimma Dan 13:08, 12 Aug 2005 (EST)
Strong Bad husting Strong Sad is a major aspect of H*R, particularly the sbemails. It is the foundation of their relationship. Many-a-time The Brothers Chaps have used this as a joke. It also leads to explain Strong Sad's very deteriorated ego. In turn, it explains Strong Sad's actions, style of speech, charactar, etc. Finally, Strong Bad has hurt Strong Sad so many times that it's hard to keep track of all of them. I think it's very thoughtful of the person who took time out of their day to organize this myriad of precious moments (if I may so call them). In closing: I beg of you, do not let this page be deleted. Whether it is merged with another pae, or preserved to shine in it's own glory, it does not matter; what does matter is that it be saved from such a terrible fate.
We've listed all the ways the TGS girls have met their demise. Why not do something similar with Strong Sad? -- tomstiff 18:25, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Because Strong Sad's injuries are so commonplace and ordinary, really. He's never been Twelve-Sided Die'd, for example. In my opinion, the TGS deaths are much more interesting. --DorianGray
I wouldn't mind keeping this page. I do however think it may be helpful for those against it if the page was completed to include the toons and shorts etc. to give more of a feel to what the page will be like. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 18:40, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I will complete the page when I'll have to time for it. And thanks to the guy who wrote that long repley up there. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 23:49, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Added the toons. If you find more, please add. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:32, 13 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Images

Try not to have too many images on this page. It's not friendly for people with dail-up connections. I'm thinking we delete some of these. —BazookaJoe 01:51, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I agree, but for a different reason. Some of these are just Strong Sad being hurt, but they don't really fit the theme of the page. I'm gonna remove a couple. See what you think and put back or take away more as you see fit. — It's dot com 01:55, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
I was putting up images of the things that weren't just references. This is Strong Bad Hurting Strong Sad, not the Cheat or Strong Mad.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 02:03, 19 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Nearly all of these images need to be redone to comply with Standards (size of image should not exceed 100 kilobytes). I can upload optimized versions for most of the images on this page, but that does take quite a bit of time and I'm rather short of it at the moment. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 21:35, 21 Aug 2005 (UTC)
UPDATE: Images [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7] have all been refactored. Every image except #3 is now under 100KB of file size. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 17:35, 28 Aug 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Running Gag?

I think that this is also concidered a running gag. It has to be! Anyone agree? If anyone is not going to disagree, I will add it into the catagory.--Martin925 00:38, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Kicking The Cheat is a running gag, why not this? Go for it... - Camalex(talk) 04:35, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Thanks!--Martin925 04:57, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Hang on, now. Tell me if you think I'm wrong, but in the first thread on this page, it seems like the consensus is that this is an interesting list, but the content of the page is too common and the instances are too diverse to really qualify as a running gag. — It's dot com 05:03, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I see what you mean, but the definition of a running gag states that it is a repitition, making it halrious to repeat over and over again. But it's something that can be decided over time. Not a big deal.--Martin925 05:09, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Meh, I have three younger brothers myself, so I know it's just a given that older siblings torment their younger siblings. I don't see it as a running gag, I see it as just being the way it is. It's universal. It's part of their characters. It would be like pointing out every time Homestar is a little dim or Marzipan acts like a hippie. (By the way, my brothers and I are friends now that we're grown, in case anyone wondered.) — It's dot com 05:20, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm gonna say it's not a running gag so much as part of having a younger brother. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 05:27, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I say running gag. My sister never hurts me, and I never hurt my sister. And my friends brother never hurts him either. — talk Bubsty edits 02:47, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
It's a personality trait, not a running gag. You know, like Strong Sad being depressing, Bubs being a scammer, and Homestar having a loose grip on reality. - Joshua

[edit] Order in the court

These are in neither chronological nor alphabetical order. Which should it be? —AbdiViklas 04:35, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

Oh, I can alphabetise 'em real quick, if you like. Just so you can see how it'd look. I'm real good at that. --DorianGray
That's an improvement, but actually I thin it ought to be chronological. That would entail considerably more work and I'm going to bed in the morning, but if nobody else does it I'll leave myself a note to. —AbdiViklas 05:02, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree. Chronological would fit better. I'm much slower at that, so I'll leave it for someone else, be it you or another user. --DorianGray
I am this other user. It was in semi-chronological to begin with when I made this page. I'll revert and complete the order correctly. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:16, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Done Done. But I don't know what to do with Homestar Presents: Presents & The Best Decemberween Ever. Where to put them? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:26, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
Maybe put them together, but chronologically from the first occurance? Another words, put them both where you'd put Best Decemberween Ever if it was alone. --DorianGray
Ok. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:12, 26 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] E-Mail

  • What would happen if someone sent an email to Strong Bad about this?? 67.41.213.180 03:23, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
About what? Why he's so cruel to Strong Sad? Someone already has. Shwoo 03:27, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New name

I've always hated the name "Strong Bad Hurting Strong Sad". It seems too clunky and long. How 'bout Strong Bad and Strong Sad's Relationship? It matchs the names of the similar articles Homestar Runner and Marzipan's Relationship and Homestar Runner and Strong Bad's Relationship. --Trogga 00:38, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

I could live with that new name. It does seem to fit better with the "H*R and Marzipan"'s and "H*R and Strong Bad"'s relationship pages. If this page does get a new name, maybe someone could add in a (rather small) section where the two are seen getting along. kai lyn 00:52, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, me too. Shwoo 01:34, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
I never thought of that when I made the page. Good call. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Inconsistent Use of Sentences and Phrases

I've noticed that in some sections of this page, phrases are used to describe the situation, whereas in other sections, sentences are used. I propose that we use complete sentences for all of the sections, considering that other pages generally do the same. Yet the only problem I see with using complete sentences is that there would be the problem of starting too many of the statements with "Strong Bad/Sad", so we would have to be mindful of that. What do the rest of you think? ~Garnet Jell-o~ 18:56, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I think if any change is made, it would need to be toward full sentences. But for me, I wonder if it's necessary to make all complete sentences. Some are quite unambiguous as is, I'd advocate clarifying any that aren't through complete sentences. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 19:01, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

But Strong Sad said he can see the camera, so it's possible that it is see through. There's no indication that it's in the gem of the ring.--24.255.171.220 21:02, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] To-Do Cleanup List

Since I was the person who added this thing to HRWiki:Article Cleanup, I thought I should explain what things need cleanup:

  • Practically every sentence is actually a sentence fragment, and no other Relationship articles have any fragments.
  • The gallery of Strong Bad hurting Strong Sad might need updating.
  • Trivia sections are discouraged under Wikipedia guidelines, so that fact might have to be merged with the intro or something like that. The section isn't long enough to be simply renamed "Fun Facts".
  • This article uses colons instead of — I already fixed that one. Bad Bad Guy 18:29, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] slumber party

The page reads that Strong Sad mocks Strong Bad's choice of sleepware at a slumber party, but are we sure it was SB's? I always thought it was kinda ambiguous, since, it's possible that SB went to a party were someone else was wearing questionable tighty whiteys, and it gave 'im the jibblies, so when he says "Don't ask me" he doesn't wanna be reminded. Does that make sense, and if so, is it feasible? Dagron 05:41, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Strong Bad's not the type of guy who'd beat up Strong Sad because Strong Sad insulted one of their guests (Strong Sad insulting people is already rare enough by itself). Bad Bad Guy 21:14, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
If the guest was someone Strong Bad admired, like Senor Cardgage, Strong Sad probably would have sounded more creeped out in his reply. If it was some Limozeen guy, Strong Sad probably wouldn't have said anything since he doesn't seem to care for that band. Bad Bad Guy 21:13, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Strong Sad wouldn't find any humor in the jibblies either. Bad Bad Guy 18:21, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't think you quite understood what I meant, but its okay. If no one else responds, I won't press the issue.Dagron 06:13, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unneeded references

And how is shushing in extra plug anything close to revenge?
So, anyone that bothered to read this long speech of examples, I think we should have a cleanup on this page so everything can be at least 99% accurate. JCM 00:39, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Pumpkin Carve-nival counts because Strong Sad put more effort into his pumpkin than most of the others did. Fingers counts because Strong Bad is basically wishing Strong Sad was dead. I see no reason to remove the character video. Your reason for deleting Sbemail 150 is purely opinion. I think only Pay Plus, morning routine, and extra plug should go. [edit] Ummm...what?

"Main Page 24 — Strong Sad takes Strong Bad's pants, leaving him to search for them in his underwear."

The one thing I dislike about this statement? The bolded part. Why? How exactly do it shown that Strong Sad actually did that, and Strong Bad didn't just lose them by [INSERT RANDOM REASON HERE] and Strong Sad just finding them? Please explain. -- BlkTwilight 13:15, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

While this cannot be proven with hard evidence, the page implies that it is Strong Sad's revenge the way he emphasizes 'found', as well as a semi-evil smile. Supposing that he did just find them somewhere, it could still be revenge because he's keeping them away from Strong Bad.

[edit] Stockholm's Syndrome

In at least three instances, Strong Sad is shown idolizing or at least wanting to please Strong Bad to the point of exaggeration. This is evident in the sbemails fan club, rated, and love poem. Fan club shows Strong Sad forming the Deleteheads, rated shows him in a tent waiting for Strong Bad to say "A-restricted!", and love poem shows Strong Sad (albeit in an easter egg) standing by a phone made to look like Strong Bad because he thinks the email totally describes him. Should this be added or made a new article entirely?

[edit] Jibblies 2

Anybody think strong bad diden't know strong sad was with pom pom? Dr. Savage 00:51, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

This is pure speculation, as nothing is indicated one way or the other, nor does it matter in the slightest. — Defender1031*Talk 00:56, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
But regarding Jibblies 2, I agree with Jay's recent deletion. Strong Bad didn't say that only the good characters had been jibblied. -132.183.151.81 18:29, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I Wonder

Did Mike really treat Matt as bad as Strong Bad treated Strong Sad? Or was he just exaggerating?
